[Q] T-Mobile Coverage in New Jersey - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Does anybody happen to live in New Jersey that has T-Mobile? I would like to switch from verizon but I am worried about coverage issues. Specifically I would like to know if coverage is good in Monmouth County. Thanks! If you know any information about coverage or surrounding areas please leave a reply, it's greatly appreciated.

Like I can trust the carrier, their maps will make it look like they have excellent coverage and in reality they do not.

Thats false advertising. I have no issues using it Just gotta zoom in far enough cause some places look good, but when you zoom in, you see its like boarderline good. so just zoom in.

I'm in NJ and I made the switch recently. Despite everyone telling me I'd get terrible coverage, I've actually found it better than I had with Verizon. Don't get me wrong -- Verizon's LTE completely blows away HSPA and + in terms of speed, but so far I've gotten far more consistent 4G coverage than I had with LTE.
That being said, I'm located in Middlesex. So I can't say how good T-Mobile is down in Monmouth. Up here though it's excellent. I go from Scotch Plains --> Newark/Parsippany areas for work and I get excellent 4G coverage everywhere I go.

If u look at my house on tmobiles coverage map I'm supposed to have "excellent" 4g coverage but I barely get 1bar of 4G. It's not always accurate.

Can't test from in your house. Do you think T-Mobile goes inside your house and tests the connection? I too have "good" service, inside i cannot get HSPA outside i get 1~3 bars. So the map is accurate. Granted, not perfect.

I live in Monmouth County, and T-Mobile sucks here. Had it for a long time, tried to get them to come out and see why the service sucked so much, and all they gave me was bs. So finally I made the switch to Verizon and couldn't be happier.

Lol not sure what answers you were expecting with that kind of question, but I understand ur concern.
Hudson/bergen County here. Service is good 2ishMB down 300ish KB up. Average/high. To be honest, with what I pay, its MORE than enough. $150 unlimited everything for 3 people. Verizon can suck a bag of ..........

[Competition] Verizon's LTE network down again, 6th nationwide outage this year?

"Most reliable network" indeed.
Grass is always greener on the other side, eh?
Troll much?
It is pretty annoying though. My 3g data just started working again. But I'm going to have to call them to get a discount this month

Any newly released technology will have it's bugs and/or quirks. Some less than others, some more than others.
But yeah, "Most reliable network" can't be given to a network that has had multiple downtime.

I can't complain though. I'm in an 3G only area during work and it never went down. I pull over 1 mb/s on 3g everywhere I go, and I'm paying less on Verizon with my employer discounts than I was paying on Sprint...with unlimited data. It was a win-win to switch. Even had my ETF waived.

Verizon has a better network. I can almost guarantee these outages are the only time Verizon users have no data, whereas you lose 3g on Sprint whenever you move more than a mile. I have used both networks.

There's only one place I haven't had 3g coverage with Sprint and that was in the mountains, en route to New York City from Detroit Michigan, in Pennsylvania where no one does.
Even had 3g in the desert between Las Vegas Nevada and Los Angeles California.

Can't speak to those areas, only the place where I reside, I know of numerous dead spots in jax, fl on sprint. None on Verizon, they truly "rule the air" here.

According to the link in the first post they already fixed the problem for that author.
Sprint recently went 3 days without even realizing their network was down despite people complaining. This was before they removed CIQ.

So what, the point is this is the 6th major LTE outage in just the last twelve months.
Don't recall hearing anything about or experiencing a Sprint outage though.
Point is they responded and fixed it relatively quickly, preventing it from becoming a multi-day outage situation.
May not be valuable to statistics counters, but would be to me.

Sure, after 5 other major outages, they must know their way around.
I could only imagine the rioting if Sprint's network had six major outages in 12 months.
I do have to say, from my experience from both networks. Verizon in my opinion is better I have an iPhone 4S and an epic 4G touch, and I drop calls and never have 3g, though according to my phone I do. I have at least 3 bars at all times, but if I get off of wifi I can't get on the internet on either phone. I don't know if this is common, but it really sucks. I feel like I got spoiled on Verizon.
Don't remember the last time Sprint had a nationwide 4g outage, or even a nationwide 3g one for that matter.

I just moved back to Gainesville and to my surprise I now have 4G coverage where I live... Amazing!

It's a major part of the plan. By the end of 2013 the goal is for all Sprint towers to have LTE.

Previously there was 2 towers I knew about in Gainesville that had WiMax turned on for preliminary testing. One of these is near Shands.
Don't be fooled by the Sprint coverage maps, they don't include anything unofficial. If you want to see Sprint's 4G coverage go here: http://www.clear.com/coverage
You'll see where the towers are in Gainesville, but that coverage map is very unrealistic, but it's true. You'll get 4G somewhere in that area, but not that large of a coverage area.

It is expanding, or at least has been ever so slightly...
I've noticed it in Phoenix... we aren't an official wimax coverage area, but there are spots around the metro valley where you can get 4G now that you couldn't before, and Clearwire has been updating their maps to reflect the added coverage over the past few months.
Who knows how long it will go on though...?
No these are real towers. There is a tower right near Shands here

This is incorrect; If you are getting a signal, your devices should be able to connect. It's more likely you just aren't getting a good signal where you are located.

Clearwire is sprints only 4G network. Sprint does not maintain its 4G network. It is 100% Clearwire.

I agree, sprint is not expanding wimax, but Clearwater is. They still have the home Internet marketing. Wimax is still faster than dsl and cheaper than cable.
Edit: clearwire(clear) not Clearwater. Stupid autocorrect.

Wimax is still expanding, but only with minor additions at Clearwire's convenience and to maintain spectrum licenses with the FCC. Its main priority to stay cash-positive and built an LTE network to supplement Sprint. Hopefully, Clearwire can find some big investors/partners to help with funding/buildout.

Yes, in order to stay an official nationwide carrier Clearwire has to cover a certain amount of people. Every year it increases. By 2013 every nationwide carrier must have a nationwide 4G network that covers a minimum amount of people

It isn't going to cripple their NV plan at all. They are building out their LTE network SEPARATE of Clear or Lightsquared. The Lightsquared deal was going to give Lightsquared towers to bounce off of. Why do you think Lightsquared was going to end up paying Sprint and not the other way around?

I was more referring to the fiscal side of things. I don't think Sprint is going to be able to keep the portion of the deal they believe they are going to. Not talking about build out.

Where I live, the only Wimax is within 3 blocks of an official Sprint store. Imagine that. The rest of the area is covered by regular 3G with full bars but unfortunately at 1X speeds. Some days I would get better performance by turning off 3G, I never thought that was possible.
I'm currently enjoying Verizon's fine 3G with hopes that Sprint's first threatening letter will arrive soon. The local towers are do for an upgrade within 6 months, I wonder if better bandwidth or my termination notice will arrive first.

Most Sprint stores have signal boosting antennas so that there is good service as you are demoing devices. That accounts for that small radius.

Should be the Q&A forum. SGS3 has worse reception than the SGS2. Also has a left hand grip signal drop issue. This causes the phone to switch to EDGE a lot. Check this thread out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756280

Sorry
I do know better, I just had a few tabs open and click on the wrong one. I guess So far IL has 1 good result. I have heard some negatives about tmobile overall, but what I read online was fairly positive. So I am still deciding on which carrier to try.
I took the liberty of e-mailing the president of Samsung about this issue. I called Samsung and they provided me with this e-mail after I professionally told them about the issue and how more then a few people were having this issue. I will be informing about any updates.
Chicagoland is so big that it is hard to generalize. I've been with TMO since the voice stream days in the western suburbs and have been generally been pleased with it. I've had the gs3 for a week now and reception is the same as my htc hd2. Data of course is much faster.

Sensorly | Coverage Map Application

I just discovered this today when I was doing research on coverage in my area because customers were saying they got 4G LTE signal on the south side of my town, and sure enough looking at this map it shows 4G LTE. BUT this app is very convenient because we, as the user, create the map and the coverage by our signal. I just wanted to share this with everyone so that we can create this into something very accurate and so you can keep up with the 4G LTE in your area.

[Q] Anyone in the Arizona/Phoenix Area

Well as the title pretty much says it, I am wondering if anyone is in the Phoenix, AZ area and what their speeds are on 3G. I'm asking because when I do manage to get 3G service, I have a whopping 5-15kbps average, with tops of 150kbps at like 3am when, I suppose, there is hardly anyone utilizing the network.
If anyone is in the area I'd love to hear your experience with Sprint and 3G. The way things are here, I'm pretty much just waiting for my contract to expire.
Happy I moved back to Chicago from phoenix omg to damn hot. I'm surprised your phone can take the heat. Well when I lived there sprint 3g was horrible I lived on north 28 drive down the street from a bus station and the mall.
In Chicago lte is blazing fast and I haven't seen 3g in months on my phone.

Trust me you are glad you moved out, apart form the heat Sprint's data connection sucks. Dial up is at least more reliable than the 3G service we have pretty much throughout the county. We've been promised 4G and LTE for about four years now...
I was between Phoenix and Surprise last week on a trip. Man, I thought our data speeds in central Wisconsin were bad. There were some times I couldn't get any data as it bounced from one bar of sprint to roaming. Awful. Feel bad for you. If I lived there, I probably would leave sprint.
