[GUIDE][LB] Root Jelly Bean 4.1.2 | Make ZIP from FTF [WORKING] - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

This is a simple guide to make a pre-rooted firmware and then use it.
What you need:
- A device with a rooted ICS and a recovery as well.
- A PC with flashtool installed.
- A Jelly Bean ftf.
- WinRAR or similar software.
- Patience.
What do you do:
Assuming you have enough requirements, lets begin!
0. In Case you haven't, flash stock ICS, root it and then install CWM.
How to make a prerooted zip
1. Open the JB ftf file with WinRAR.
2. Extract the system.sin file.
3. Open flashtool. Go to tools>sin editor and extract the [system.sin] file. You'll get an .ext4 file.
4. Extract the contents from the .ext4 file to a folder named system
using any of this. I prefer Linux Reader.
5. Add root to the folder. Download the attached root.rar file.
Copy the contents of SuperSU or Superuser to the folder you've made.
6. Create a zip file.
7. Copy the system folder into the zip file.
8. Download, extract and copy the attached META-INF.zip
9. Now you have a flashable prerooted zip.
0. Download prerooted firmware from the second post
or make one of your own by the guide above.
1. Copy the prerooted zip on your SDcard.
2. Now, boot into CWM on your device.
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache.
4. Go to mounts and storage and format system.
5. Now flash the zip but do not reboot.
6. On PC, go to flashtool and using flashmode select the JB ftf.
7. Check Exclude System (Put a tick mark on it).
8. Uncheck wipe data (ONLY IF YOU NEED IT)
9. Now flash it on your device.
10. Let it boot and now you have your rooted Jelly Bean fw!

Use reboot option in CWM and connect immediately in flashmode (hold vol down button and plug in USB)

Mount system from CWM and then try again.
If that does not work, replace the updater-script (META-INF) with the one attached here now.
If that still doesnot work, try copying the META-INF folder from a custom ROM of your device.

Yup I think so, I had to finally unlock my bootloader as well just to be able to keep flashing ICS, I also tried different versions of CWM but nothing worked until after I sorted the folder structure in the rom.zip, when I tried it again it installed for about 3 minutes before failing, instead of the 20 seconds it took before.

KDZ always crashes. Cant get it to downgrade my phone to 142. Is it fully working with Windows 7? I dont think I miss any step, Windows enabler is on, all drivers are installed, I also installed msxml.msi
I confirm that it doesnt work on either of my laptops. I'm thnking that its because of the kdz file. I may not be using the right tool to join the files. Iamdos can you please post the all the tools you needed? Thanks

there is an extraction error and seems the process didnt proceed, only fews seconds then it says finished.
i tried opening the "read phone information" to check if my phone is really detected by the flasher but seems its not. this is what happened:
the phone is already in "downloade mode" while data cable plugged to the computer.
what to do? please help

Try redownloading the KDZ. If it can't extract it, that probably means your KDZ is corrupted/incomplete.
In phonemode: Choose CS_Emergency not Emergency. If not work, refer below topic.

redownloaded already the kdz. using the cs_emergency mode now.
flasher/software updater program does not stop or crash anymore but it stays "not responding" and no progress logged. is this normal in its process? is this due to the huge kdz file which is about 500mb combined? there is no progress in its log.
here is the screenshot:
-
I extracted the 3 kdz files (kdz.001, kdz.002, kdz003) using 7zip and they merged/formed into one single kdz file automatically.
But when I flashed it to the phone, it says kdz error decrypt and extract file error. Here is the screenshot:
What to do?
* I re-downloaded the kdz files and extract them to one single file then flashed back again, same result with the screenshot above >.<

BLU Dash 4.0 has [Chipset Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon]. Furthermore, this procedure Super_Su did not work for with the original recovery BLU VIVO 4.3 ROM JB 4.1.1. With recovery original it says "Installation aborted".

What system you are using Win XP/Vista/7/8?
I'll pass the correct procedures to install the drivers:
On the computer:
Go to the Drivers folder and run "InstallDriver" (for the file I'm sending you).
On your device:
Connect the device to your computer, go to Settings, Options programmer, Activate and check "USB Debugging" and press OK.
On your computer:
1 - Go to device manager, click on unknown device or wrongly recognized (MT65XX Preloader);
2 - MT65XX Preloader updating drivers, click browse for driver software on this computer;
3 - Type of Device, click Show All, and then click Have Disk and browse to the folder "Driver\ADB" and select the file [android_winusb.inf];
See this image for [android_winusb.inf]:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38864558
4 - Select Android Composite ADB Interface;
5 - If message appears, requesting confirmation to install, confirm, appear to Windows Security box, asking if you want to install Google Inc, Select Always Trust and install;
6 - Now just do the procedure in SPFT to put only the recovery (CWMv6).
Remember that with Win7 installations should always be run as administrator!
Check this with @tanmay5 in mmxA110 #38 ------->>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167244&page=4

There click on general tab then click - advanced startup n press restart.
then go to troubleshoot option in press option 7 i.e disable driver signature. Thats the most Important step.
4. your pc will get restarted null enter in the in that option.
5. your UAC (User Account Control) must be enabled atleast to the recommended level/2nd one from the top.

[03.03.2013] SuperSU v1.34 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 << --- >> original link -- Thanks for this xda developers.
Works for both models BLU VIVO 4.3 - D910a and D910i. If you are not with this device, then you should search or create CWM for your own device.
For put CWM v6 in BLU VIVO 4.3 see this: HOW TO PUT CWM v6.0.1.2 by williegomezt
For more details to put "recovery.img" using SPFT see Flashing only part of the ROM: [TUT]MTK Android (Sp flash tool ) tutorialhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982587
Download SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v3.1224.01 and INSTALL drivers: VIVO 4.3 Tool 20130322.rar
On your device ---> configuration ---> Security --> check the option=> Unknown sources.
Instructions after putting CWMv6: With the phone turned off, press POWER and VOL +.
Appears CWM v6 -> select install zip from sdcard ---> choose zip from sdcard -> find file with VOL - or VOL + file [UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.34.zip]
Select YES with POWER. There, at the end of the process SU is installed.
Go + ++ Go Back + + + up to find -> reboot system now. Select with POWER.
So you now have installed a upgraded SuperSU-v1.34.
That's all! Your device is ROOTed. :good:

I have an error when I use SPFT. I downloaded and installed the MT6577 USB VCOM drivers from http://www.filecrop.com/MT6575-USB-VCOM-drivers.html and they installed fine.
I then followed your instructions for loading your recovery.img file to my phone. I got as far as the blue load line and then I got an SPFT error
BROM EROR : S_FT_NEED_DOWNLOAD_ALL_FAIL (4050)
and then it stops.
Any ideas?

This is something related to installing drivers. Another interesting case is USB plug behind the PC.
Check this for more drivers MT6577. Download your version for SO (W8/W7/Vista/XP )--> [TUT] Instructions MTK6577 USB VCOM Driver Installation
I read in other posts that you have Win8 and this is not good. But many friends managed. Read post # 10, disable UAC, see picture of correct installation and try again. See this for correct install drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38864558
Another attempt is to use scatter file this on my forum [TUT] HOW TO INSTALL ROM 4.1.1 JB - BLU VIVO 4.3 D910i. Download the BLU_D910i_V06_GEN_T8113_20130322_CWM.rar, unzip. In SPFT, select only the option [RECOVERY].

You will need the adb driver... since BLU doesn't provide this anywhere you can install it via installing pdanet...
search google for "topnotchtablets installADBDriver"
I first installed ADB, then I ran the root script and voila my BLU DASH 4.0 was rooted... took me a while to find this out.. searched everywhere for the correct adb driver...

You're writing in the wrong place. Furthermore, the update should be placed with the original recovery. If you have a BLU VIVO 4.3, then you should not fear anything. So many people make the direct download to phone. This is wrong!
First on the PC and then put the sdcard. It may be that the file you downloaded came with errors.
If you have CWMv6 and backup, is back to normal. If not, try again another update file. If not, put JB version 6 in forum [TUT] HOW TO INSTALL ROM 4.1.1 JB - BLU VIVO 4.3 D910i. Read all the posts and see how to put the JB version 7.
Do not write here again on other matters, that is not the issue ROOT!

First Lets know some Basic knowledge
about DEODEX/ODEX...
What is Odex and Deodex ROM
What is an ODEX file?
In Android file system, applications
come in packages with the
extension .apk.
These application packages, or APKs
contain certain .odex files whose
supposed function is to save space.
These ‘odex’ files are actually
collections of parts of an application
that are optimized before booting.
Doing so speeds up the boot process,
as it preloads part of an application.
On the other hand, it also makes
hacking those applications difficult
because a part of the coding has
already been extracted to another
location before execution.
What is an DEODEX file?
Deodexing is basically repackaging of
these APKs in a certain way, such
that they are reassembled into
classes.dex files.
By doing that, all pieces of an
application package are put together
back in one place, thus eliminating
the worry of a modified APK conflicting
with some separate odexed parts.
So, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all
their application packages put back
together in one place,
allowing for easy modification such as
theming. Since no pieces of code are
coming from any external location,
custom ROMs or APKs are always
deodexed to ensure integrity.
How this works?
For the majority noobs amongst us,
Android OS uses a Java-based virtual
machine called the Dalvik Virtual
Machine.
A deodexed or .dex file contains the
cache used by this virtual machine
(referred to as Dalvik-cache) for a
program, and it is stored inside the
APK.
An .odex file, on the other hand, is an
optimized version of this same .
dex file that is stored next to the APK
as opposed to inside it.
Android applies this technique by
default to all the system applications.
When an Android-based system is
booting, the davlik cache for the
Davlik VM is built using these .odex
files, allowing the OS to learn in
advance what applications will be
loaded, and thus speeds up the
booting process.
By deodexing these APKs, a developer
actually puts the .odex files back
inside their respective APK packages.
Since all code is now contained within
the APK itself, it becomes possible to
modify any application package
without conflicting with the operating
system’s execution environment.
Advanteges & Disadvantages
The advantage of deodexing is in
modification possibilities.
This is most widely used in custom
ROMs and themes. A developer
building a custom ROM would almost
always choose to deodex the ROM
package first,
since that would not only allow him to
modify various APKs, but also leave
room for post-install theming.
On the other hand, since the .odex
files were supposed to quickly build
the dalvik cache, removing them
would mean longer initial boot times.
However, this is true only for the first
ever boot after deodexing, since the
cache would still get built over time as
applications are used.
Longer boot times may only be seen
again if the dalvik cache is wiped for
some reason.
Note:Themes for android come in
APKs too, and if you want to modify
any of those, you should always
choose a dedoexed custom ROM.

I recommend you to use apk changer.. its a nice tool works with command prompt.. it is actually built for modifying apk.. but it has option to deodex your rom automatically..but has some options to pull the files from your phone with some clicks... very easy to use..
If you have root access surely it'll work.. and tell something about your phone partition.. if you don't provide the correct path to the source file also it will fail...

Deodex patch has script (installer script) which will delete your framework/app/priv-app folder/files (dex and apk) and copy deodexed apk files with right permissions.
So no, you don't have to delete anything, just flash patch and restart
BTW - in 99.9% it's not prerooted because that's not ROM, that's patch.
To be sure you'll preserve recovery and root you can always flash latest recovery by NUT and superSU after flashing deodex patch but before you restart.

If you are not sure, flash latest recovery after deodex patch and restart to be 100%.

Done! Also flashed the latest XZDualRecovery.
On 6906 flashing the deodex rom causes FC on both Location service (when choosing Detection accuracy) and on language/input option in settings. Tryed with and without the deodex rom and it is working fine without.

Can I have the MD5 hash of the zip that you downloaded?
MD5.exe
Place md5.exe and the deodex zip on the same folder, open an elevated prompt window and type:
Code:
md5 C6906_14.3.A.0.681_deodex.zip >> md5.txt
Then open the file md5.txt that is in the same folder now.
I think you downloaded an old zip that was in the topic on the first day, which had Settings.apk deodexed with API 19, which is the right API for KitKat but it force closes in some menus.
The solution come from @krabappel2548 he suggested to deodex Settings.apk using API 16, then I updated the packages for the 4 variants.
Instead of downloading and applying the entire zip you can replace your Settings.apk
Settings.apk
Using a root file explorer, place it on "/system/priv-app" and set the permissions to 0644 (rw-r--r--).

When I flash zip file for my C6902 with CWM (6.0.4.7), my screen is of and on suddenly, nothing happen.
When I do with TWRP, it says "unable to mount system".
My rom's still not deodexed.
What should I do?

Are you using XZDualRecovery? Take a look at the version number > External SD Card > XZDualRecovery > XZDR.prop
If it shows something between 2.7.96~2.7.98
Run this as administrator with your phone connected to the computer with Debug mode ON, this will update your XZDualRecovery to version 2.7.99 which fix system mount as writable on KitKat.
C69XX_14.3.A.0.681.patch.zip (9.15MB)

[GUIDE]Desire 816 update guide (platform.xml error fix guide)

finally my desire 816 has succesfully updated!
after 3 days of whole heaps of trouble updating due to my phone has been rooted and modded
now i'm gonna leave a guide to my own version of fix. btw my 816 is a5_ul. suppose the updates work all the same
1st off u must do what others has already mentioned. remove supersu. go into supersu and then settings, scroll down to until u see "full unroot". click it and wait for it to complete. then restart your phone.
my 1st problem was with 1.54.707.2. thru a lotta searching i it was the recovery that was causing the problem. so according to many guides that can be found in this forum was to flash the recovery found in ota 1.60.707.3. and the ota starts working perfectly
then my 2nd problem starts while installing 2.34.707.1 ota.
like many of the newbies stated wen they updates they see a red triangle exclamation mark error. if u guys hold volume up + power, u will see the error msg.
what u will most probably see is "/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml has unexpected contents". according to some thread i read in m7's forum page it was due to cwm modded the sdcard write permission. so i asked around and thx to junior member sumancvb i found the replacement platform.xml file
the best way to replace your file is thru twrp recovery. copy the platform.xml file to your sd card, go into twrp recovery, click mount, tick "/system". then go into advance, file manager and use it to copy the xml file to /system/etc/permissions/. replace the original platform.xml in this folder.
after replacing the platform file, i came across ANOTHER freaking error while updating 2.34.707.1 ota. this time, it was "/system/xbin/nc has unexpected contents". thru another extensive searching and asking, thanks to sumancvb again i get the replacement nc file.
same as the trick above use the provided "nc" fle, get into twrp to replace the "nc" file in /system/xbin/
then VOILA!!! my phone was succesfully updated! YAY. many thank to the forum for guides.
now i can enjoy the beauty of lollipop (maybe)
also i might upload the ruu for 2.34.707.1
i dont know how to tell u but thanks very very very very much for the nc file
Re
Thanks dude for the links! Thank you so muchh man! I try this as soon as i got home

What about NC file
should we extract or placed whole rar file?
First extact then place individual files
/system/xbin/nc
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
And don't forget to fix permissions
It works! Thanks guys

just go into your phone settings -> about phone -> and check for updates. let it start downloading and don't install after it completes, instead navigate to internal storage -> downloads and copy the zip file out
You guys are great.
