[GUIDE]Desire 816 update guide (platform.xml error fix guide) - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

finally my desire 816 has succesfully updated!
after 3 days of whole heaps of trouble updating due to my phone has been rooted and modded
now i'm gonna leave a guide to my own version of fix. btw my 816 is a5_ul. suppose the updates work all the same
1st off u must do what others has already mentioned. remove supersu. go into supersu and then settings, scroll down to until u see "full unroot". click it and wait for it to complete. then restart your phone.
my 1st problem was with 1.54.707.2. thru a lotta searching i it was the recovery that was causing the problem. so according to many guides that can be found in this forum was to flash the recovery found in ota 1.60.707.3. and the ota starts working perfectly
then my 2nd problem starts while installing 2.34.707.1 ota.
like many of the newbies stated wen they updates they see a red triangle exclamation mark error. if u guys hold volume up + power, u will see the error msg.
what u will most probably see is "/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml has unexpected contents". according to some thread i read in m7's forum page it was due to cwm modded the sdcard write permission. so i asked around and thx to junior member sumancvb i found the replacement platform.xml file
the best way to replace your file is thru twrp recovery. copy the platform.xml file to your sd card, go into twrp recovery, click mount, tick "/system". then go into advance, file manager and use it to copy the xml file to /system/etc/permissions/. replace the original platform.xml in this folder.
after replacing the platform file, i came across ANOTHER freaking error while updating 2.34.707.1 ota. this time, it was "/system/xbin/nc has unexpected contents". thru another extensive searching and asking, thanks to sumancvb again i get the replacement nc file.
same as the trick above use the provided "nc" fle, get into twrp to replace the "nc" file in /system/xbin/
then VOILA!!! my phone was succesfully updated! YAY. many thank to the forum for guides.
now i can enjoy the beauty of lollipop (maybe)
also i might upload the ruu for 2.34.707.1

i dont know how to tell u but thanks very very very very much for the nc file

don't thank me, thank sumancvb, he was the one who gave me those files in the 1st place

Thank you , but one question
What about NC file
should we extract or placed whole rar file?

First extact then place individual files
/system/xbin/nc
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
And don't forget to fix permissions

It works! Thanks guys

which recovery should i use? still face error on first stage when update to 1.60.707.3

just go into your phone settings -> about phone -> and check for updates. let it start downloading and don't install after it completes, instead navigate to internal storage -> downloads and copy the zip file out

You guys are great.

[Updated][How To] How to update your device OTA with CWM(without unrooting)

Hey there folks,
there are many people who wants to update their phone but they cant cuz they have rooted their device n have edited their /system(ie your ROM) folder.. (untill yesterday i was the same , but then i used my mind n did this )
So when you get an update ,(or when you feel you might have got an update , go to settings->about phone->software update n select check now)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
download it
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(this comes only when the battery is less than 35% i purposely kept it low so that we can get here.. )the people who dont want to wait till their battery would be less than 35% they can scroll to the end of the post n there is the way to copy the OTA zip file.. and then come back here later)
select install later
n then with your file explorer in the phone go to
Code:
sdcard/download/
here you will find your update (for eg OTA_Marvel_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.26.720.3-2.13.720.1_release_263152eqrdpruolqm8nq6i.zip)
now copy this to some other folder in memory card and then from that folder copy to your computer by mounting your sdcard(ie using disk drive mode)..
i copied it in the sdcard directly (ie root of sdcard)
now open the zip file ,
then go to /META-INF/com/google/android/
now here you will see a file named updater-script
now to open this file you can open it in notepad. but then when you edit the file in notepadd it will ruin everything..
so it is advisable (or meaningfull )to do it with a better notepadd..
so go here n download notepadd++
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/
n install it..
now open that updater-script in notepadd++
now you will see that there is this code so long..
dont worry you dont have to read it all
now here you can see the words assert
now this is the thing that is gonna check your system n all .. what you have to do is ..
select all the the assert statements n delete them.. for refrence i have attached my updater script(the one i am showing , donot replace this one with the one in your zip file (as not all updates are same . ))
my updater-script(if the link is not working plz pm me.)
in this script the assert statements are from line number 5 to line number 541.
delete them all ....
now save that file. (put it in your zip again if you extracted it n then edited)
n now paste it again on your cell phone ..
n now reboot to recovery ...
select install zip from sd card
n then choose zip from sd card.
n then select the zip you just edited(the one which you pasted in to sd card ffrom pc .. n not the one that is in the download folder)
n then select yes n the let it do its work.. when it is flashed..
select reboot now..
if it asks you that root might be lost n all just select no n continue(cuz there is still something to be flashed after the update (it may posiibly not there in all the updates but it is there mostly ,the image file firmware.zip .. )
it will take a lil time to flash this (if it dont flash nything after recovery dont worry it wont be there in your update.
CONGRATS>>[email protected]!!!!!
you have sucessfully updated your rooted device OTA
(if you lost root access ,, then root your device again..)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For those who dont have their battery low that 35%
start downloading the file..
when it starts ,, like when the download is on 2% or 3 %
open your file explorer,
go to /sdcard/download/
n here you will find the ota zip
now copy it..
(do not paste just copy it so the link /sdcard/download/otablahblahblah is copied to your clip board)
now browse to some other folder (when it asks where do you want to paste)
now stay there
n keep a look on your status barr.. as soon as the download is reached to 97% or 98%
be ready to paste it.... when it tells download complete..
quickly paste it in to some other folder(as you have copied earlier you just have to select the paste option )
n then you can now mount your sd card n do the rest of the thing .. (scrooll up again )
Feel free to mail me/pm/comment on this post..
i dont mind answering your questions (even if some other person has asked the same question .. ) but i would appriciate you to read the next post that is FAQ.
i willl try to maintain the FAQ..
F.A.Q
1) My wifi is not working , after the update..
-> It is possibly because you have a firmware.zip in the OTA zip file but it didnt flashed.. open the zip file , you will find a firmware.zip file in it.. exatract it in the pc . n then flash the boot.img in fastboot mode.. with this command fastboot flash boot boot.img
2) What is bootloader?what is fastboot? from where to write fastboot comands ? what are the commands?
-> Bootloader is the white screen (when you press n hold volume down key with power key while turning on, n then there is a option named fastboot you select it with volume keys n then press power key to go inside it.. now the white screen you see is the fastboot mode. to use File Download this file.. extract it on desktop.. now place the files you wanna flash on desktop .. now open a comand prompt n go set the path to desktop with this command "cd desktop" without the quotes.. now you can use these commands
(considering you have files named boot.img system.img on the desktop
Code:
(to flash boot)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(to flash system )
fastboot flash system system.img
3) Fastboot isnt working
-> You should have htc sync installed (if using windows).
-> You should have your device installed in ubuntu.(google it )

KDZ always crashes. Cant get it to downgrade my phone to 142. Is it fully working with Windows 7? I dont think I miss any step, Windows enabler is on, all drivers are installed, I also installed msxml.msi
I confirm that it doesnt work on either of my laptops. I'm thnking that its because of the kdz file. I may not be using the right tool to join the files. Iamdos can you please post the all the tools you needed? Thanks

there is an extraction error and seems the process didnt proceed, only fews seconds then it says finished.
i tried opening the "read phone information" to check if my phone is really detected by the flasher but seems its not. this is what happened:
the phone is already in "downloade mode" while data cable plugged to the computer.
what to do? please help

Try redownloading the KDZ. If it can't extract it, that probably means your KDZ is corrupted/incomplete.
In phonemode: Choose CS_Emergency not Emergency. If not work, refer below topic.

redownloaded already the kdz. using the cs_emergency mode now.
flasher/software updater program does not stop or crash anymore but it stays "not responding" and no progress logged. is this normal in its process? is this due to the huge kdz file which is about 500mb combined? there is no progress in its log.
here is the screenshot:
-
I extracted the 3 kdz files (kdz.001, kdz.002, kdz003) using 7zip and they merged/formed into one single kdz file automatically.
But when I flashed it to the phone, it says kdz error decrypt and extract file error. Here is the screenshot:
What to do?
* I re-downloaded the kdz files and extract them to one single file then flashed back again, same result with the screenshot above >.<

Because Engineer Version is version for Engineer developer. It's a base rom to flash any ICS rom.

I don't know a way to delete "Engineer version". I don't care about it.
It's not about the words "Engineer version", i was just thinking there is another way now to flash custom ROM on ICS.

[GUIDE][LB] Root Jelly Bean 4.1.2 | Make ZIP from FTF [WORKING]

This is a simple guide to make a pre-rooted firmware and then use it.
What you need:
- A device with a rooted ICS and a recovery as well.
- A PC with flashtool installed.
- A Jelly Bean ftf.
- WinRAR or similar software.
- Patience.
What do you do:
Assuming you have enough requirements, lets begin!
0. In Case you haven't, flash stock ICS, root it and then install CWM.
How to make a prerooted zip
1. Open the JB ftf file with WinRAR.
2. Extract the system.sin file.
3. Open flashtool. Go to tools>sin editor and extract the [system.sin] file. You'll get an .ext4 file.
4. Extract the contents from the .ext4 file to a folder named system
using any of this. I prefer Linux Reader.
5. Add root to the folder. Download the attached root.rar file.
Copy the contents of SuperSU or Superuser to the folder you've made.
6. Create a zip file.
7. Copy the system folder into the zip file.
8. Download, extract and copy the attached META-INF.zip
9. Now you have a flashable prerooted zip.
0. Download prerooted firmware from the second post
or make one of your own by the guide above.
1. Copy the prerooted zip on your SDcard.
2. Now, boot into CWM on your device.
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache.
4. Go to mounts and storage and format system.
5. Now flash the zip but do not reboot.
6. On PC, go to flashtool and using flashmode select the JB ftf.
7. Check Exclude System (Put a tick mark on it).
8. Uncheck wipe data (ONLY IF YOU NEED IT)
9. Now flash it on your device.
10. Let it boot and now you have your rooted Jelly Bean fw!

Pictured guide updated.
Use reboot option in CWM and connect immediately in flashmode (hold vol down button and plug in USB)

Can you flash other zips? Try reinstalling CWM.
Is the META-INF perfect? I haven't tried it yet.

Mount system from CWM and then try again.
If that does not work, replace the updater-script (META-INF) with the one attached here now.
If that still doesnot work, try copying the META-INF folder from a custom ROM of your device.

Yup I think so, I had to finally unlock my bootloader as well just to be able to keep flashing ICS, I also tried different versions of CWM but nothing worked until after I sorted the folder structure in the rom.zip, when I tried it again it installed for about 3 minutes before failing, instead of the 20 seconds it took before.

Root for TizzBird F10, F11, F13, F20, F30, N1G
Arabic font support for TizzBird F30
Will it work on my device?
F10 root: confirmed
F11 root: confirmed
F13 root: confirmed
F20 root: confirmed
F30 root: confirmed
F30 Arabic font support: confirmed, requires firmware version 2.20
N1G root: confirmed
How to install
Method 1: Flashing from the recovery
This method is known to work for all devices, but it is a bit more elaborate as it requires you to perform most of the steps manually. Firmware version 2.0.6 (3.0.4 for the N1G) or newer is required to access the recovery.
Download the appropriate file (downloads can be found at the bottom of this post).
Prepare a USB stick by formatting it with the FAT32 filesystem and placing the downloaded file on it.
Rename the file on the USB stick to 'update.zip'.
Power off the device completely. By default the 'power off' command will put the device in stand-by. Make sure it is completely off, otherwise you won't be able to access recovery mode.
Using the included remote, turn the device on. Immediately start pressing the red 'DEV' button. Keep hitting that button until the recovery pops up.
Now insert your prepared USB stick.
Using your remote, select 'apply usb:update.zip'.
If the device has trouble detecting your stick, remove the stick, select 'apply usb:update.zip' again, wait for it to fail, then re-insert your stick and select 'apply usb:update' once more.
Select 'update.zip' and wait for it to complete.
When flashing is done (should only take 10 seconds or so), remove the stick and select 'reboot system now'.
You're all done, enjoy!
Method 2: Flashing from TizzBird's built-in File Browser
This method has only been tested on the F30 so far, but it should work for all devices and is more user-friendly than method 1. Use this method if you are unable or unwilling to enter the recovery, due to using an older firmware or perhaps having lost your remote control.
Download the appropriate file (downloads can be found at the bottom of this post).
Prepare a USB stick by formatting it with the FAT32 filesystem and placing the downloaded file on it.
Rename the file on the USB stick as follows:
F10: TizzBird_F10_update_root.zip
F11: TizzBird_F11_update_root.zip
F13: TizzBird_F13_update_root.zip
F20: TizzBird_F20_update_root.zip
F30: TizzBird_F3x_update_root.zip
N1G: TizzBird_N1G_update_root.zip
Now insert your prepared USB stick and turn on the device if it isn't already on.
Open the built-in File Browser app.
Navigate to the USB stick (you may need to select the stick by clicking the drive icon in the upper-right corner).
The 'TizzBird_xxx_update_root.zip' file should have a special icon (looks like a chip) - this means the TizzBird sees the file as a system update.
Click on the file to open it. A prompt will appear asking for confirmation, choose 'Install now'.
The TizzBird will now automatically reboot, flash the zip and reboot again.
You're all done, enjoy!

Nice job !
Congratulations for your dev !
I'm sure it will be helpful to all the F30 TizzBird's users, including the french community.
You are welcome if you wish to discuss about it in our forum. I'm new to XDA forums and cannot give a direct link but you can easily find it by searching "bidouilles numeriques" in Google.
Sorry, it's in french but we can also discuss in english !
Hope to meet you there.
THANKS, rooting works perfect!
Next step is to find a good Samba server to make the F30 a 'real' NAS.
ONE problem: If I try to flash new firmware (e.g. V2_20) I'm getting an error:
Signature Verification Failed! Installtion Aborted
The same for V2_14, any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks!

[UNTESTED] root for F20 [UPDATED 20140117]
Hi everyone,
Sorry for not being able to respond earlier.
bupuqui: you're welcome
bidnum: I had already found your site when searching for a root method :good: Unfortunately I'm just too busy to make any meaningful contribution to your forum
The Adder: the signature verification fail, does that happen when you try to flash an official firmware or when you try to flash my update.zip?
enderffx: no, the update.zip I posted in my first post will check the build.prop of the existing firmware and will abort on any other device. I've done this to prevent accidentally (or intentionally) flashing the wrong device and messing things up. However I have made a modified version of this update.zip that should work on an F20 (but I have not been able to test it). Please see the attachment to this post, rename it to update.zip and let me know all downloads moved to first post.
latioboy: to access the TizzBird via FTP you will have to install an FTP server on the TizzBird - there are plenty of those to be found in the Google Playstore.
update: I've found the time to have another look at the update.zip for the F20 I produced and am ashamed to admit I completely forgot to edit the build.prop on the first version . Which is why it wouldn't flash on the F20. I have fixed the build.prop and rebuilt the update.zip, see attachment, hopefully this time around it will work all downloads moved to first post.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help, as I've never encountered a problem upgrading the firmware.
I'm not familiar with 'cmw', or do you mean 'cwm' (ClockWorkMod?). CWM won't work on the TizzBird, if you want it to, ask the developer of CWM.
XBMC won't run either, as it's targeted at devices running on armv7a+neon, the TizzBird is armv6. So unless someone manages to compile XBMC for armv6, no luck there.

Not that I'm aware of (have been Googling for that recently, but haven't found anything).
The most current official firmware is Android 2.3.5. This version was released by TizzBird on 2013-07-27. Given that it's now been almost half a year since the last update and considering the age of this device (originally released mid-2011 I believe), I won't be holding my breath for anything official at least.
I'm tempted to look into attempting compiling a custom rom, but having never done something like that, I can't be sure if and when I will manage, so don't hold your breath for that either

I've had this same problem after flashing a rom that wouldn't boot (blinking power light and nothing on screen). I was able to enter recovery by unplugging the unit, plugging it back in, then turning it on with the remote and immediately pressing the red 'DEV'-button (keep hitting that button until recovery pops up).

V500 im not able to get into bootloader

Hi,
I just want to unlock bootloader on my g pad and flash custom rom. I did this many times on Nexus devices, also sony.
I installed sdk, next Google drivers and my tablet is detected by computer as adb interface.
But when I type command - adb reboot bootlader
Tablet just reboots. I'm not able to get into fastboot. Plz help. It's v500 version. My software version is v50020d.
Earlier I didn't know that LG locks bootloader and I tried many times to flash custom recovery. One time I had made a mistake and using flashify - I flashed twrp for v510. But LG support tool helped me to repair it. Probably it flashed stock with full wipe becsuse I lost data so everything should be fine now but as You can see - it isn't...
HTC One M8
Also command adb reboot oem-unlock only reboots it
HTC One M8
The v500 has a locked bootloader. You need to root first and then install a older aboot and recovery in order to flash roms. This device like the g2 uses loki to bypass the lg lock.
Ok. I've already rooted my device but every time I try to flash twrp using "loki" method I end with screen like this...

Okay, so that message providing you wait a bit and see twrp start, means that you have successfully bypassed the locked bootloader...
If it freezes there and nothing happens that would be something different... The second sentence reads differently if Loki has bypassed things. The screen above seems to indicate that Loki is not successfully bypassing (hence my edits to this post) it should say something different in the second line if Loki is successful. My tablet is at home right now so I can't take a picture of a working Loki bypass...
A successful bypass should say something like: Device unlock so boot success!
After this screen twrp turns on.
Edit
Okey... Maybe I've done something wrong. Could you tell me how to flash this recovery in points?
I'm not very familiar with LG...

I had also done this and flash cm but nothing changed.
Maybe this screen was a result of flashing twrp using flashify.
Yesterday I flashed stock so now I want to begin this process one more time . Could You tell me how to do it?
HTC One M8
----
Yes. But now it come to my mind that this problem with booting was a result of twrp for v510 flashed using flashify and next Loki method. Because maybe at the end twrp was for v500 and it worked but I wasn't able to flash anything because it "thought" that I'm using v510. But next i delete line in updater-script connected with authorization and as a result I flashed cm for my v500 but this boot screen didn't changed.
So as you know next thing I've done was flashing stock and now I want to start from beginnig without problems .
Could you tell me how? :/

Okay, my process from a fresh install of 4.4.2 is:
make sure to download everything you need before you start this process and read through it carefully...
1. Root device using stumproot, thread located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Other root approaches potentially will work as well, I use stump since it also works on my phone...
2. Download and use step 3 from idioterror's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698267
You will need to modify his batch file to properly work the details for that are in the thread, the download by itself will not work without changing a line in the batch file (if I recall from memory find the query for 50010b and change it to 50010d.)
If that worked the batch file ends with an attempt to reboot into recovery. Unplug the cable after the batch file sends the reboot command so the adb reboot recovery command can properly complete and get you into recovery...
if the tablet boots back into stock try another adb reboot recovery manually(or use flashify to reboot into recovery), again unplug once the reboot starts.
If that does not get you into TWRP but instead gets you into stock recovery you need to do the steps in idioterror's batch file manually go here for details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56707177&postcount=15
(be really careful with the dd comands if you do this a mistype with them will be very dangerous)).
Once you have this working recovery you need to decide which base you are going to use with your tablet, the 4.2.2. base (for AOSP based roms) or the 4.4.2 base (for recent stock based roms). The recoveries for the 4.2.2. and 4.4.2 are different see the details in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499
You can run AOSP based roms on the 4.4.2 firmware but you will typically need to flash a 4.4.2 replacement kernel like redkernel or mani... See the proper threads in the development section...
If you are going to run AOSP based roms with the standard kernel skip to 3b...
3a. I am running a 4.4.2 firmware base and a redkernel on lollipop myself, make sure to install the latest 2.8.0 recovery for the 4.4.2 firmware base... You can now flash stock based roms, or AOSP roms with a 4.4.2 capable kernel do not do step 3b for stock based roms...
3b. Install the 4.2.2. base (will actually install a different recovery partition and aboot partition, however it will get your firmware back to 4.2.2. which is what almost all of the AOSP roms expect...) thread and download details here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2719411
That download is huge and takes a while to flash, don't panic, but make sure that the MD5's match since a failed flash for that one can brick the tablet...
4. Enjoy your rooted and rommable tablet!

If that does not get you into TWRP this step failed and youwill have to manually walk through what the batch file does... Stop and ask me or someone else for further assistance (or open up idioterror's batch file and figure out what it does so you can do it manually (be really careful with the dd comands if you do this a mistype with them will be very dangerous)).

You need to know that yesterday back to stock was my second one. 1st time few days ago I edited script as You wrote here form v50020b to d and it didn't boot to recovery. The same result was when it comes to booting to recovery using app like flashify.
So unfortunately I need to do it with the hardest way . I will try. It will be very nice experience.
I belong to crx team as a (very) novice member so I hope Cr3pt will help me looking at instruction You wrote for me if something goes wrong.
Thanks a lot. Probably everything will be okey but there is an option that I will be back here with more questions. :E
Thanks a lot.

Does it boot into the stock recovery instead with two really strange errors?

Yeah, idioterror's script is failing, when I had that happen I had to manually do what was in the batch file via an adb shell. I can't write those instructions until later tonight (assuming my little girl sleeps tonight that is)...
Something has changed which causes his script to fail that I haven't tracked down yet (there is a thread on this somewhere in the LG GPAD forums)... It is either the newest LG drivers, or a newer adb.exe install or something that is conflicting with idioterror's script... his approach still works, you just have to manually do it...
One additional thing, when I manually did it, I had already installed busybox so I did not use his tools (dd etc) I used the ones that I had already installed (I use the BusyBox Pro from Stericson in the play store for this, his free version should also work).
Step by Step Aboot/Recovery when the script fails
WARNING: I'm trying to help, I assume that you know how to recover from mistakes by reverting to stock with LG's software if needed. This is the procedure I followed by manually doing what Id10tError had in his batch file... If anything fails below I messed up in translating the instructions. I did not run the dd commands on my tablet to check since I have already done this process. Please be careful... If you find errors I will try and help... the dd command does have the ability to completely destroy your tablet if you use it incorrectly... if you have questions or see a difference between my instructions and the batch file ask and I'll be glad to answer questions. This was translated from idioterror's script, any errors are mine not his.
I assume that you have installed busybox, (this gives you a working dd on the device)
you have rooted your tablet
and you have adb working on your computer.
You could potentially also do this from the tablet itself if you copy the files needed to the proper locations (skip the push part below) and use a terminal directly. I also assume that you have downloaded idioterror's aboot replacement stuff from my earlier instructions. On the computer go to the directory that you opened the zip file and do a directory listing you should see:
the dd lines below may wrap depending upon how you are displaying this...
The directory should contain:
11/12/2014 09:59 PM <DIR> .
11/12/2014 09:59 PM <DIR> ..
05/16/2014 08:48 PM 524,288 aboot.img
05/16/2014 08:48 PM 815,104 adb.exe
05/16/2014 08:48 PM 96,256 AdbWinApi.dll
05/16/2014 08:48 PM 60,928 AdbWinUsbApi.dll
05/16/2014 08:48 PM <DIR> busybox
05/16/2014 08:48 PM 11,001,856 recovery.lok
07/07/2014 04:41 PM 4,156 runme.bat
then type
adb shell
su
mkdir /sdcard/flash_tmp/
exit
exit
adb push ./aboot.img /sdcard/flash_tmp/aboot.img
adb push ./recovery.lok /sdcard/flash_tmp/recovery.lok
adb shell
su
chmod -R 777 /sdcard/flash_tmp
dd if=/sdcard/flash_tmp/aboot.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
dd if=/sdcard/flash_tmp/recovery.lok of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
rm -rf /sdcard/flash_tmp/
exit
exit
adb reboot recovery
unplug the cable once it starts rebooting and enter TWRP recovery...
It will be dim if you are coming from the 4.4.2 base, go to a dark room if needed so you can see it and flash a newer 4.4.2 recovery next if you are planning on using stock roms, or flash the 4.2.2. base otherwise... see my earlier post for a link to the recovery thread or the 4.2.2 base.
Thanks!
Everything works perfect

Step 3 of idioterror's thread doesn't work.
You said:
2. Download and use step 3 from idioterror's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698267
However, I am unable to download the file from the link.
Do you know of another location where the file can be downloaded?
Thanks in advance!
Morty.
