No offense, but I'd trade my Note for a white N4 in a heartbeat. What's the condition of the Note 2?

Electronics prices do not stay the same they always go down. The Note 3 is on the way.

Note2s in my area just recently hit the $450 mark on Craigslist. I guess I better hurry up and sell my extra T889 Note2.

Condition: "I have a White Tmobile Note 2 for sale. It is 16gb in comes with charger, case, front and back ghost armor screen protector. This phone is missing the spen as my son broke it one day. It does have one small ding on the top right corner most people wouldn't notice it but I did try to take a picture of it. Love this phone just switched carriers. It is Rooted running AOKP currently. I did not do a baseband update to enable LTE yet since its not in my market."
I just bought one a few weeks back for $450. It did include an otterbox defender, flip case, leather belt case and extra battery.

Less powerful? I think N4 beats the Note in benchmarks.
I'll give you battery life. It's impressive.
Size too. Very nice.
I'd rather have a solid feeling phone without SD than a plastic one that comes apart easily.
Is the LTE usable where you live? It's terrible here. And I feel like 3G has suffered as a result. I would miss my WiFi calling...
I just feel like it's been kind of a piece since 4.1.2. Battery life isn't great now either. Feels slower to me as well.

Phone values ALWAYS decrease; it doesn't matter how "awesome" or whatever the phone is; there's always newer, better phones coming out. If you seriously thought the Note 2 would retain that value for however long then you're completely naive. With manufacturers putting new phones out quicker; the value of phones drop quicker.

I WANT the prices to continue to drop, I don't have one yet!
Of course that'll make it harder to sell my i717 and now T989's are 200 new with some accessories on HSN so I'm also boned there. Dammit. At least I think my tablet is holding some value.

this is why I typically buy phones about a year after their release. price decreases stabilize once a phone drops to the low $300 area. I wouldn't pay more than that for a phone. the only reason I got a Note2 when it came out in November 2012 is because I resigned a 2 year agreement with TMO and got the phone for $200.

First off, are you talking about Note or Note 2? This is Note 2 forum after all. Not knowing that it would be nonsense trying to reply, since Note 2 is much different and more powerful than Note. And yes, Note 2 is more powerful than Nexus 4.

I TRADED my Nexus 4 for a Note 2 and won't ever go back to a phone without a removable battery + expandable memory, not to mention USB OTG support. The Nexus 4 is GREAT for it's price, however if you have the money the GS3/Note2/GS4 definitely takes the cake. The only things I truly miss about the Nexus 4 is the software buttons (I've gotten so used to them that having to press a button my Note 2 for the home button feels weird), and better ROM consistency (It sucks being on the same phone as other providers but only being able to use only a select few that are meant for your carrier. The Nexus 4 allowed me to flash any ROM)

Prices will go down as newer devices come out. And the fact that there is no clear device on top at this point in time. Note 2 has qualities for some to be the top device. S4 has qualities for some to be the top device. And HTC One has qualities for some to be the top device. And for a few users Nexus 4 has the Google vanilla experience that would make that device on top. And not mention the S4 and HTC One Google experience devices would make one of those devices on top for some.
Not to mention a bunch of new phablets coming out to the market throughout the summer and autumn that for some could end up the top device. And would end up make Note 2 feel like an older device.
You get my point. There is no reason for Note 2 to stay at $699. I love this Note 2 device that I paid full price. But devices do evolve.

they always decrease but at this rate?
there is no other phone out there to replace the note 2.
the iphones value doesnt drop until the new one is announced. same should be true for this phone.
nothing else like it and no reason for it to be sub-400 at this point in time.
we still have~ 4 months till we see the next one.
and whoever said this phone isnt build solidly is out of their minds, this phones build is great. ok its not glass or aluminum, but the way it feels in your hand is very solid. i love it.

The prices drop when retailers or in this case carriers need to blow through inventory in preparation for a new model. They know far in advance of official announcements. The public has also become aware of impending announcements. Electronics historically experience awful resale value. It is what it is.

once sites like Engadget start posting articles about Note3 leaks, then it is time to sell (if you're looking for the best resale value). In April I dumped my Nexus 7 tablet on eBay once I read leaks about its successor coming in July. Retailers like Staples and Officemax recently offered good discounts on the Nexus 7, probably in hopes of clearing stock. The writing is on the wall and the value of that device is starting to drop.

I wish I had the money to buy one out right from somebody but since I'm a broke M.F. I need to do that down payment biz at T-Mobile. And what really sucks is they just raised the down payment for the Note 2. I went in there 2 weeks ago and it was $150 down, then I went in there yesterday to browse and noticed it's now $200 down! And I looked on their website a few days ago and the N2 is more expensive then the S4! How does that happen it doesn't make sense to me. Prices might be dropping if you're buying somebody's used one but if you're buying one from TMO the prices haven't dropped a bit as of yet

[Q] Need help with an upgrade...

So the other day I looked on My Verizon too see how much sooner until I could upgrade...and to my surprise I am eligible! Woo! My Inc has done well, but sadly, it fell on a carpet from a total height of 4 inches and cracked pretty badly. Still functional though. I cannot decide though. I would like the durability of a Droid Razr, the Rezound is nice but I don't want another plasticy phone. The Nexus is good too...but again, its all plastic. Why can no one but Moto make decent built phones???
Any thoughts, ideas?
I went from an AMOLED DROID Incredible to an LG Spectrum. It's an excellent phone. I know you said you don't want a plasticky phone, but you could always put a case on it. That's what I've done and it works wonderfully.
I compared the Rezound, Galaxy Nexus, and the RAZR. I greatly preferred the Spectrum. Its shape and size are perfect for me, as is its true HD RGB stripe screen. But I didn't want to burn my upgrade, so I got it off ebay.
Glad I did.
Sent from my LG Spectrum using Tapatalk
I got a Galaxy Nexus about a month ago, and it's been pretty great. The activation process was a little weird, but I think that's because there's no 4g in Vermont yet. The store tech said it's happened with a few different phones.
I love the screen, pure ICS is pretty great, the phone is so much faster than my Inc, and I don't really have any complaints about signal, battery or the screen. I also like the fact that if I decide to change it off of the stock rom, it's easier than the Inc. Unlocking and rooting it was painless.
That said, there are some promising phones that have been announced, but until they're in the stores, it's not a sure thing. Same thing with software updates - until it's officially pushed and received, it may as well not exist. If you want a new phone with ICS, get the Nexus. If you don't want the Nexus, but want ICS, I'd just keep waiting.
I'm not sure how long you can wait, but if you liked you original Incredible, the Incredible 4G will be out in just a little bit over 2 weeks. You can google to find out more about it, or heres a link to a post on a different forum where I gave some of the details... post 18 in this forum
I wouldn't mess with any LG android phones, personally.
And the Galaxy Nexus doesn't really have much going for it other than the huge screen (not really an exclusive feature) and stock ICS (also not exclusive if you root, which most of us here on XDA do).
As for plasticy feel... There aren't a lot of options out there that aren't made of plastic... and for me, design is always the lowest priority anyway. I think the Kevlar backing on the Razr is mostly a gimmick anyway. It's not as if the phone is made out of the stuff. It's just a covering on the back to, I guess, protect the back from scratches. It does nothing to protect the screen or the camera lens, which are pretty much the only parts of an Android phone that ever break. Plastic is pretty durable on it's own... that's why phones are made out of it (except the iPhone, which is made of glass, and that's why the thing shatters when it drops from greater than a foot... lol). If it's the feel you don't like, then just put a case/cover on it.
EDIT: I think the fact that your dinc screen cracked from a drop of 4 inches (on carpet) is mostly a fluke. I beat the hell out of my inc, and I've dropped it from about chest height in parking lots before and all it gets is scuffs around the sides and back. The screen has never cracked. Not to mention (although I already did mention it), the kevlar backing on the Razr that you like so much isn't going to protect your screen anyway.
I know it was just a fluke. See the other thing is I might just have to go with the Rezound...I'm in college...50 bucks on Amazon is a steal....

It's also $50 buck on Verizon. They dropped the price a week or so ago. They said "limited time" but I doubt that it will ever go back up.
I'm hoping (and optimistic) that the Incredible 4G will be released at the $199 mark (like the Evo 4G LTE). Not that I'm saying the Rezound is a bad phone, but over the life of a 2 year contract, that extra $150 isn't that much, especially considering what you're already paying in monthly payments.

It might be 20 months for the primary line, but for everyone else on the plan, it's 2 years.
The thing that's stupid is, the early termination fee if you cancel with just 1 month left on your contract is $120 ($350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete). That monthly $10 adjustment should be $14.58 (350/24).

Hot off the presses... New information on the new Incredible 4G...
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ils-of-the-verizon-htc-incredible-4g-surface/
Specs:
4-Inch display [unconfirmed - the tipster couldn't reliably measure the device, so this is an estimate]
qHD resolution
1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor (we suspect it's an S4, but haven't confirmed at this time)
1GB RAM
8GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
8MP rear shooter with zero shutter lag, VGA front camera
NFC
MHL
Beats support (no headphones included)
LTE
Android 4.0 with Sense 4
It doesn't say whether or not it's a removable battery, but it does say "an interchangeable back" so I'm assuming the battery is accessible. The lack of the sexy white back we saw in the leaks is a bummer, but maybe you can buy that separate.
Also note, 3 capacitive buttons, not 4 like the early images
Last comment... Why the hell did they swap the positions of the power button and headphone slot?

Unlocked GSM GN Now $349 from Play Store

http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/27/3120987/galaxy-nexus-hspa-unlocked-price-drop-349
Figures not even 1 week after I purchased it they lowered the price. Hopefully they'll do the right thing and credit me the difference, including taxes..
Gnex was the worst investment ever. Price has dropped to half what it was, I don't think that's ever happened before for any phone. I love the phone, but the crazy price drop is annoying.

Yeah, it sucks to be on our end when we bought it brand new first week of release, but hopefully this is a sign to come. Imagine if Google had 4 Nexus devices on the play store ranging from $299 to $499 or even $599. That would be great for Android and it would stick it to the stupid American carriers that keep pushing way over priced plans with subsidized "super phones". I really hope Google continues on the push for cheap unlocked nexus devices :good:
I'm really tempted to pick one up at that price (along with the Nexus Tab down the line), but between the Meizu 4-core and the GS3, it's a tough choice...I love the size/look of the Meizu the best of the three and the power/features are nice (but support for it will basically be dead outside of Meizu themselves), the GS3 undoubtedly will have the best combination of specs and development (but the design is ugly IMO, I hate Touchwiz, and I'd rather use a 7" tablet as a phone than have a 4.8" phone), and the Galaxy Nexus looks nice especially without buttons on the face and will always have the newest/fastest updates (but the specs aren't the best and I don't hear good things about the battery life).
I know this is obviously the GN forum and people don't want to say anything bad about their device...but are there any major problems the device suffers from (or is prone to)? Is the battery life as bad as some say?

For my use... I can easily do 12.5h with 4.5h screen on time... it depends on how you use the device and how you tweak it. Some rom/kernel combos work really nice. Also if I know I'm going to be on a full day + without ability to recharge I'll pre-emptively do things like kill syncing and set to dim brightness and such.
The main complaint I think is the 'banding'/graininess on white backgrounds at low brightness levels, and some purple looking blacks - but both can be tweaked as well (use higher brightness or gamma corrections with some custom kernels).

Usually when u buy a high end device the value holds for a while and doesn't drop nearly as much as the gnex did. For example, the iPhone 4s or unlocked galaxy s 2 have held their values for quite a while. Great comment though, you're a genius.

$350 phone + $45 a month with Straight Talk or $30 a month on T-Mobile monthly 4G > cheap phone, but $90 a month with a postpaid plan.

It does. Instead of enjoying your phone you're complaining the price dropped too fast. Just deal with it. Lots of people paid extra to have the device early. That's just how it is. I have absolutely no regrets that I bought mine 5 months ago for $550... just how it is.

Get GNex or ...

I ended up smashing my Samsung Galaxy at the gym two days ago. I bought it in May 2011 and it has been such a sweet device. Instead of getting the phone repaired I thought I may as well just buy a new one. I have been keeping a close eye on the speculation for the conference next week and I've been doing some research on Androids offerings. Please keep in mind I am a university student and whilst I am prepared to spend quite a bit on a new unlocked, device, $500 is more-or-less my limit. 16gb of storage is fine for me too. I have an iPod touch for my music. (keep in mind i'm in Australia).
Option 1: Nexus 4. If the rumoured specs on the LG Nexus are true, and the price is below $500 this would be my first preference.
Option 2: Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Typically because I love the true google experience. I had CM10 and Slim Bean ROMs on my SGS1 before it broke. This is more-or-less $330 online for the 16gb version. Big advantage of having quick, direct Android OS updates too.
Option 3: Samsung Galaxy S3. This is a monster phone, the only thing that concerns me is the size of the phone, especially once a protective cover has been added to it. I can be a little bit reckless and would prefer to keep a cover on it. The specs on this are insane, however the price is around $470 (for 32gb) and I am very hesitant to root the phone this time round. I am also not the biggest fan of touchwiz.
I have also kept in mind that the prices of SGS3 and the GNex are likely to drop after the new phones are unveiled. I am really looking for experiences that people have with these two phones as well. Complaints and recommendations would be great!
Cheers

I would wait a week if you can. If the nexus 4 is a dud then at least the galaxy Nexus will be cheaper.

The LG Nexus 4, or whatever it will be called will undoubtedly be better than the GNex. Wait a week.

I moved from galaxy S to Gnex in Aug and quite happy with the experience(stability n performance)... will probably never buy anything other than the nexus phone.

Re: option 3 - The SGS3 is no bigger physically than the Nexus (either LG or Samsung) so your point about it being too big is unfounded.
I'd also wait and see what the LGN4 is like, even though I am not a fan of LGs quality control (worse than Samsung TBH).

I bought my Gnex very recently, was hesitating with SGS3 and the 2 things that made me chose Gnex over SGS3 are :
- price (well i sometimes act rational)
- that awful glossy plastic of SGS3
I'll definitively have a look at LGN4 but if I go on being reasonable, I'll keep my Gnex and buy a Nexus tab instead...
I would get the galaxy nexus again. I personally love this phone so much and don't care that its getting out dated. I see myself using it for at least the next year (just got it a month ago from the play store). But that being said I would hold out if possible as the price may drop when the new nexus hits.

I`m also verry sattisfied with the Gnex but i will have a look at the Google LG!
Get the Note 2.. awesome battery life and great screen
get the gnex
Wait for the LG Nexus! Its pretty much confirmed. Just gotta wait for it to be released to see pricing etc.
go for gnexus i have nexus s before now is all more smooth and cool screen
Thanks all for your replies.
I will wait til next Monday to see what Android bring out.
EDIT: If the LG Nexus is revealed as expected with all the rumoured specs, should I be worried that the battery is not replaceable? I've seen so many people with iPhone battery issues but then again this isn't Apple.
I don't think you will have much issues with your battery. I have never had any issues with my battery's on any of my phones (including gnex, dinc, and gs3). The only thing I would be worried about with the battery is if the phone locks up you can't pull the battery, but I am pretty sure you can hard reset it with volume + power.

Hmm thanks. Hopefully the phone is reasonably priced to buy unlocked!
I'm planning on getting the GNex very soon. I could care less about outdated hardware, as I've spent the last two years on a KIN device (A weird pre-Windows-Phone Windows Phone) and an LG EnV3. The GNex has the added benefit of always getting immediate OTA updates, and when the time comes (And it will come... ) to start playing, I know I have a fabulous development community to immerse myself in and hopefully contribute to. The user experience ALWAYS outweighs an edge in hardware.
Also, price is a huge deal for me, as I'm on a student budget. I can't run around and drop $200-300 on some shiny new toy that came out, when I drop similar moneys on a monthly basis to get to school and back. So yes, the fact that I can get a LTE Galaxy Nexus for $30 off of Amazon and continue my Verizon contract is a fairly big selling point for me.
That being said, if Verizon were to get the new Nexus device and it happened to be reasonably cheap (Say, $100 or below) then I would likely shell out for that. However, those chances are slim to none, so I reckon I'm safe.
Hope this helps.

I'm in Australia so it works a bit different here. I'm also on a student budget but I work weekly and earn a reasonable income to purchase a ~$400 device which is just over a weeks pay for me atm.
get the Galaxy Nexus. The LG Nexus 4 will look similiar to it. The blacks on Galaxy Nexus' super AMOLED HD screen are stunning.

Honest Review

I need someone who is not an unboxer or professional to review this phone. I am planning to sell my GS3 to get this phone because my upgrade isn't mature till 8 more freaken month. I have went to sprint store to playing around with the phone but people said to judge by the display model due to magnet issue.
Honestly?
I'm a phone guy.
I tried it all. From htc evo, to evo 3d, to galaxy epic og, to epic touch s2 to galaxy.s3, etc etc.
And I also own my own cell phone business.
With that being said, personally, to me, all androids are alike.
I know there can be many arguments with my statement, with core speeds, etc etc etc, but we are all on xda site anyway, so we are probably all rooters and flashaholics.
The ONLY difference, again in my opinion, are screen size on devices. That differentiates the devices and performance of the the phone.
Now for the review? I liked the s2 epic touch, I owned it since launch day, then I went to the s3 about 3 weeks after launch.
The s2 to s3 conversion, to me, was not a big upgrade. Sure it was a bugger screen estate, but not much for me to jump ship. I wanted a bigger screen.
With that, I resold the s3 and went back to the s2. And now I'm on my note 2.
I'm not a professional reviewer or any of that sort. I just know cell phones. It's what I do for a living. And personally, with every android device, I titanium backup my preference and settings back to my desired look between phones, so I'm probably not the best reviewer out there.
If you want a big screen, this phone is for you. But be aware that it's VERY CHALLENGING to text with one hand, or give a quick reply when driving on the road. That's my only gripe.
Gps locks are fast, reception is great. But all those were already fixed with the s3 so it's probably the same in comparison.
I don't find myself using the s-pen much.
As far as usability, I use my phone alot. I have 6 emails pushed through k9 mail, and use about 13,000 text messages monthly. So yeah I would consider myself a heavy phone user.
In the end, buy it if you want a big screen. But if you are okay with the s3 screen size, to me, save your money.
Those are just my thoughts. Of course you will be getting bias reviews on this dedicated note 2 forum.. So be aware of that.
S3 is still in my opinion, a very nice phone. Fast as he'll and fast radio locks
I'm a big guy. 6 foot 4 240 pounds . I hate carrying around small phones. I wanted the iphone and its just to small for me. I got the note 2. I love it ! And jelly bean is great. This is the phone I have been waiting for , for a while.

Best phone ever made so far IMO. I'm not big about using the S Pen... mostly a novelty for me. I was huge flasher on evo and the S2 but this phone feels like everything just came together.
Yes, one handed use is slightly awkward and might want to be careful with in case of a drop but hey, no one needs to be texting on the road anyways! I'm a pilot so I'm constantly pulling my luggage through the airport and need to glance at my phone to check a gate or something one handed... its OK for that, but any extensive texting would be difficult. Really this is my only concern... dropping the phone.
Spec wise, the phone is cutting edge. Its snappy and its a dream. So like the other guys said, it really comes down to screen size. I love big screens and I cannot lie... I'm willing to sacrifice a little mobility for that any day!

I loved my GS3 and I sold mine to get the note 2. I am not a professional or an unboxer. The note 2 is pretty much just like the GS3 but bigger and has a stylus. My stylus is a little bit sensitive, i need to turn it down as soon as I figure out how to get the button cover off. I play draw something everyday. On my GS3 it was really glitchy. On the note 2 its not as glitchy. There are a few extra features like being able to set the keyboard to the right or to the left to help with one handed usability. The battery lasts an awful long time! I had an extended battery on my GS3 but I dont need one for my note 2. I love it! I hated being without my GS3 after I sold it, but the note 2 is worth it!
And also don't forget that the battery life on this phone is absolutely phenomenal
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
There is a1 handed option in setting s that sets your keyboard and dialer to the right or left side of the phone for easier one handed texting. It's an awesome feature for such a big phone...beyond that i had the moment, then the epic, then the e4gt, skipped the s3 because of the announcement of this phone and no disappointment. It's awesome

yikes! for 8 months? my brothers upgrade was due in may but contract up in july. he only had to pay 100. I sold my GS3 on ebay for 430. It was rooted and had cases and extended batteries. I sold it as soon as I heard the note 2 was coming. Plus mine was only a month old. It sure helped for covering the cost.

[Buyers Remorse] Paid $710 for Note 2 and seeing the Nexus 4 selling for $350....

Just hoping to get some thoughts for or against the note 2 in regards to the press release regarding the nexus 4 with very similar specs going to sell for $350 out of contract.
I have to say my mind was blown, to have official updates as they roll out, and being able to have a large library of roms to choose from is a major selling point for me.
Looking to possibly keep the note 2, but I really am on the edge of my seat... thoughts about nexus 4/note 2 would be greatly appreciated.
I paid the same as you and I have no regrets. The Nexus looks to be an awesome device but the Note 2 is in its own category - are you forgetting that? And do I have to remind you about our amazing 5.5" RGB screen? I repeat, no regrets! I frickin love this thing.
Great specs and price on the nexus 4. I thought it would run about $450 at least for the phone with those specs.
I haven't got my note 2 yet but I am seriously considering getting the nexus 4 instead.

It is a beautiful screen, cant deny that Im just having trouble digesting the fact I could buy both the tablet and the phone for under $700... I could even eat the $50 restocking fee and still afford both... :/
Does anyone know where the cost are going?
Are devs jumping on the Equinos bandwagon?
I am thinking about the same thing. I love the screen and size, but I am not a fan of the smooth back. It feels like I am about to drop it bc its so slippery. I feel as if I am holding a priced possession rather than a phone. I have noticed myself being extra careful bc of the back and I don't want that. I wish the back had some kind of traction for grip. I am seriously thinking about returning this and buying a Nexus 4. And don't forget we can get a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 10 for what we paid for note 2.

I personally am going to try to push the return policy till almost the last day (14 days) So I can hear some early reviews on the nexus 4. I dont mind sticking with the note 2, but the true multi-tasking feature has not even been released yet (patiently waiting for samsung to update, never done that before)..... and that was kind of a huge setback for me.

Yes, you can buy both devices for less than $700 but then of course you have two devices. If that does not matter to you, I say go for it. I sold my iPad and GS3 to downsize to a single device. So far I am loving it.
btw IF I do decide to return the note 2, I am sure as hell going to miss the pop out video player. I am in love with that.

I bought it off-contract as well, at full price, but I still think it's only 14 days.
The S-Pen should be a major factor when buying a Note 2. If you are simply using it as a phone or web browser, I think your original purchase of a Note was the problem. If you paid $700 for a product that will help you be more productive, then it's money well spent. If you paid $700 for a toy... not sure what that makes your money, just know it's not well spent.
Notes are productivity investments, tis why the Note 1 still sells for well over $500 new. If you define the word "need" for yourself, you will never have to worry. (side note, the current Nexus can't be beat when it comes to Dev support, and it's cheaper still... so there's that)
I'm actually very surprised at the high amount of people from this forum, that jumped so fast on the note 2 before Google announced what they were bringing out. ( official specs, not speculation)
The question is..... Is removable memory, bigger screen, spen, worth double, not to mention the wireless charging?
I have a g tab 2.7, and like Samsung.
I do miss the amoled screen of my N1 though.
