[ROM] CM9 based on SGT7 framework [20120711] - Edge swipe navigation - Full Linaro

After installing this ROM on my GT 10.1 I decided to use the same sources to compile a build for the Kindle Fire.
The result is a CM9 ROM with the Framework, Settings and Launcher/Trebuchet enhancements from the SGT7 project.
The SGT7 codebase features:
* Status/combined bar is highly customizable
* additional trebuchet settings
* Edge swipe navigation (can be used to quickly toggle the status bar with a single swipe)
* Show/hide statusbar from power menu
Other minor changes:
* Removed Camera, DevTools, RomManager, VoiceDialer and TelephonyProvider apks
* Enabled USB mass storage by default
* Disabled debugging notify icon on statusbar

Installation:
Make sure you have the latest FFF and TWRP 2.1.x installed
Make a backup !!!
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Install ROM
Install Google Apps
Reboot
I actually installed this build without a data wipe (coming from my own CM9 build with minor framework changes) and didn't have any issues. But YMMW - and if you have issues I suggest you start over and do a factury reset before flashing.

I really like the status/nav bar customizations, basically used them to add the power widgets & remove sliders that, for me, were just taking up space in the expanded status bar.
The Peek Notifications feature is kind of cool. The preview itself initially displays just above the status bar, but jumps downward over the status bar shortly before auto-hiding. Seems fine to me. (NOTE: if you select/deselect this option, the status bar disappears, but will reappear automatically after ~15 seconds. I assume this is the status bar being auto-restarted to kick in the change.)
Selecting the System -> Tablet Tweaks -> Recent Apps -> Large Thumbnails option fixed the display issue that the current Recent Apps list had - horizontally stretched & pixelated thumbnail images. W/ this option enabled, the Recent Apps thumbnails are now squared, aspect ratio of the thumbnail contents looks correct & the thumbnail contents are displayed (somewhat more) "crisply".

BTW, I flashed this over Trojan38's 5/28 Vanilla build with just cache/dalvik wipes. So far, no issues.
[Edit: One potential issue, but this might -not- be specific to this ROM at all (I never tried this on other CM9 ROMs for the KF). If I mute the volume using the 'mute' button to the left of the Expanded status bar volume slider (or if I use the power widget) and then unmute, the Notification volume is left at 0 instead of being restored to the previous volume slider setting. No biggie, just thought I'd mention it.]

This is definitely not specific to this ROM. I have experienced this in every CM9 ROM that I have installed on the KF so far. I think that this is the 5th that I have installed and I really like it so far; nicely done.

This unmute issue is fixed in the latest build. (and I don't think it happens on Trojan's vanialla builds).

By chance, are these options submitted to cyanogenmod's code review? I'm assuming this is pretty much stock cyanogenmod with added customization options specific for tablets, is that correct?

twa: I just flashed the new build and retested the mute/unmute changes.
Looks good except for one scenario. If you fully expand the notification bar so that the volume control slider is visible and then click the Mute toggle that's located to the left of the Volume slider, the Volume power widget doesn't change to reflect the muted status. If you then set focus away from the fully expanded notification bar so that it auto-collapses, the volume remains muted, the Volume power widget still reflects an unmuted state, but the Volume slider's position is reset to 0.
So now, if you cycle the Volume power widget, Volume is not unmuted. If you fully expand the status bar to show the Volume slider, you'll see the Mute toggle is still enabled (fine) but the slider position is at 0 (unexpected). Sooo (oooh big deal lol) you have to slide the Volume slider back up to unmute
Really no big deal, but figured I'd mention it since I reported the orig issue w/ the mute/unmute behavior.
Aside from this (which I admit I rarely if ever do/will use), this SGT7 stuff is awesome.

That's probably not a device (otter) specific issue but rather still a problem with the sgt7 frameworks codebase - in fact I can reproduce it on my GT 10.1. I'll forward your findings to the sgt7 team.

Nice to see you over here ... just wanted to pm you (glad I don't have to bother you though).
I also noticed that there are also some synchronization issues between the mute button left of the volume slider and the volume button in the power widget.
For example, pressing the volume power widget button (so that the sound is muted) doesn't also update the mute volume slider button.

Where do you want the Vol slider? There's one available in the status bar, selectable via Settings -> System -> Combined bar expanded settings -> Expanded settings entries -> Volume slider (need to scroll downward in the righthand pane to get to the entry)

I got that option checked but I don't see a volume slider still, also got a brightness slider checked but it's not there, All I got is the power widget

Titanium Backup Questions

Quick questions for you all;
What options do I need to restore in Titanium Backup in order to restore only the basic stuff, as in screen layout, settings related to ringtones and profiles, so I dont need to redo all settings.
I just want to restore the basic stuff!

The "basic stuff" you listed are system settings, and you should not bother backing up & restoring any system app/data in TiBu, or you'll run into conflicts when you update your ROM.
The far easier solution is to just keep a checklist (textfile or mental) of the various system settings you want to personalize after a clean wipe rom install. Eventually it becomes a habit.
FWIW... here's my current CM10 settings checklist:
• Post-install system settings tweaks:
∘ WiFi > Advanced: Keep WiFi on during sleep > only when plugged in
∘ Display > Battery light: DISABLE
∘ Sounds:
‣ disable annoying system "screen lock sound " & "touch sounds"
‣ Volumes: unlink ringtone & notifications volumes

Running the CM10 nightly and since I change roms often I just want to restore the basic settings, sound, screen, etc.
zmore has pretty much said it all, I'll keep that info saved.

[ROOT][APP]GMD AutoHide Soft Keys

It does NOT modify system files. If something unplanned happens, just reboot your device and it will restore your stock navigation bar.
It should work on other devices with Phone UI too. It also works on devices without soft keys. Let me know if your device works and I will enable it in Play Store.
Unique Features:
- Hide just navigation bar and keep notifications bar.
- Show Quick NavBar and click soft button with one simple swipe.
- Theme Quick NavBar.
- Adjust trigger size and position.
- Integrate with Gesture Control or Tasker using Shortcuts.

Great findings ... Remove the red layer add an option for permanent remove of the soft keys, release it to the market and take my money...

Good start, layout problem on my Xperia z, so can't access recent apps. Needs to be able to call menu when needed and that would sort it, or margins adjusting,dectection a little hit & miss, looking forward to updates. Subscribed.

Thanks. Button alignment is minor issue. I'm still a bit confused with feedback. Navigation bar removal should be permanent until you turn Auto Hide off or reboot your device. So if you tested the app, please state:
1) Device
2) Is navigation bar removed and does not reappear
3) Navigation bar reappear when you turn Auto Hide off.
4) Any button alignment or trigger problems for status bar replacement.
I investigated how Android determines if menu button is needed and I have no access to this information. I can only display it always, but I will make it smaller.

Nexus 7 3Gwith MoDaCom ROM JR10. App works fine, NavBar hides and keeps hidden. Reappears after switching off autohide. I have a red stripe on th e bottom, assume the area for navbar activation. Does not look nice, transparent would be my choice, even better the whole bottom area, just a finger swipe upwards.
Issue: Interferes with fullscreen+, assume because both apps use a similar trigger for hiding. Even switching fullscreen off, not uninstall, brings it back for apps I have activated for fullscreen+, this means notification bar vanishes and I have the left/right corner buttons of fullscreen+ back.
Could be a replacement for fullscreen, think about adding a quicknavbar and you have me ... well done!

Hello i really love this app and Gesture Control app, one of the best apps ever. Here is my feedback:
1.- Nexus 4
2.- I removed the app and navigation bar didn't appear until i rebooted my phone.
3.- The navigation bar does reappear if you turn auto hide off ( sometimes it change my wallpaper).
4.-When i use LTM at the button, the buttons of navigation bar of the app doesn't work.
I have a question, Can you delete the red line and just by swiping it appear?

When application start, does not do anything. It's only hide bar when you turn auto hide on so your not able to hide navigation bar permanent...

I have some ideas what I want to add to final version but I will be glad to hear ideas too. Trigger is visible in this development version. Full version will have options to hide, resize and reposition it or turn off completely if you use other means for navigation like gestures or button savior. So far I'm glad the main thing works, but I still need to fix device type detection, so it does not try to hide navigation bar. I will post updates here.

Great work man..Yea it would be great if it uses auto hide just like how it hides in XPERIA Z when viewing images or videos.

I've installed this ROM yesterday which I downloaded form different portal* needrom.com.

1- DPI or display resolution. I'm having low resolution so that icons and complete interface is big. I tried an application to change the DPI/Resolution which made display bit problematic and my keyboard gone insane. Will someone guide me that how to make things better? I think current settings are 720x1280 320DPI. My status bar is most annoying thing.
2- What is this GROM thing about which everyone talking about. It's complete in Chinese. So I haven't got any tiny idea that how it can help me? In addition, how to activate multi-window feature in it?
Kindly guide me.

In setting you will have to find the language & Input icon. It should look like a keyboard key shape box. Then pick the first option and you should see English. 2nd You will need to find build.prop file in the System folder using a file browser that has root permission such as root browser. Open it with a text editor. Look for the command line ro.sf.lcd_density=320. Change 320 to a lower number. Around 280 should be ok, but you can pick something more suited to your viewing needs. Save and restart you device. If second option is to complicated, I believe they have dpi changing apps in the play store. I never use them, so you will have to Google and or search play store for the apps.

i installed this rom and had not such problems you mentioned. but grom advance setting as i said before was in chinese so i flashed a fresh russian b907 and then b927 v1 on top of it and every thing is ok.

i installed this rom and everything but grom advance setting was in english.and of course it have some extra chines app that you can remove them by rootunistaller.

its very easy.just enable usb debugging and plug your ham to computer.run flash-all.bat and hit 1.then devices will restart to bootloader mode and installer will write all part one by one.this would erase internal memory so dont forget backup your valuable staff.

The Basic Stuff:
STEP 1: [VOLUME PANEL]

Open the app, at the top right press "Start". This will ask you for some accessibility settings, after you've done this, go back to the app and select "Android", you may have to scroll down an inch or two. After this step you can test your volume keys and see it it worked. Congratulations you now have a stock android volume panel!
For darkmode users: After you've followed the steps above, press "Style Settings" found at the bottom of the app, find the "Auto Dark mode" option and toggle it. The panel should now match your darkmode settings.

Press your home button, you will get a prompt asking you which launcher to choose, select CPL (Customized Pixel Launcher). Press and hold the homescreen until a menu pops up with various options at the bottom, press "Icon Pack" and select the icon pack we just downloaded. This took me a few tries as the icon pack kept going back to the system default, but it eventually worked after a few attempts of reselecting it. Feel free to customize this launcher to your liking, however for this guide I will only be changing the grid size for home and desktop. So press and hold the homescreen again and select: "Home Settings" now go into home screen and change the grid size to 5x6, I found this the best on my Galaxy S9, however it may be different to yours. I chose the same on desktop and left it at that.

NAVIGATION BAR:
I haven't tested this but it should work, if it doesn't please update me in the comments.
Open galaxy store, search for "Good Lock" and download the app. (I've heard stuff about this being locked in some countries, it most likely is, I'll try to test it ASAP!).
After you have Good Lock downloaded open it and select "NavStar". This will bring up the NavStar download page from the Galaxy Store. Download it and return to Good Lock. Once its downloaded launch it again through Good Lock and toggle it on. Find the style you like, you can even make your own, soon I will be making my own pixel icons and uploading them to here for everyone to use since the built in pixel icons are kinda trash. Have fun
