Parental Control App - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a used Kindle Fire, but it has a parental control app on it preventing me from doing ANYTHING. So at this point I don't even know if I am rooted and can't even get into settings. So how do I boot into recovery and factory reset from there, like I said I don't think I am rooted but can't tell either.

Try to use KFU to root and install TWRP. Once In TWRP goto wipe and wipe data. That should remove the app.

[Q] Kindle apps not installing

The kindle Fire unrooted or rooted always has a notice when you are low on application storage, after rooting it to 6.3 I now have this problem where it is impossible to install applications because it is low on application data or "insufficient application storage" i don't know what to do :T, but when i check there is still 1gb remaining (almost all there). I ahve TWRPP installed, Firefirefire, Clockwork, and superuser root installed.
EDIT[1]
Problem still continues to persist, ran in recovery and cleared caches
clearing caches didnt work for me, did you ever figure this out?
Do you have a "root" file browser? Which one?
yea i have root explorer. i figured out about 20 minutes after since i found rom thread that someone had happend to mention my problem in about deleting this odex file which solved everything

Shouldn't you be experienced enough to use the search, then?

You cannot run Google Play without root permissions because it will only run as a system app with the proper permissions which you need root to modify. As far as warranty goes, you can restore a rooted kindle fire to stock and remove any proof of the fact that it has ever been rooted by following one of the guides to return to stock.
I used to have my KF completely bricked after running ICS and different ROMs on it and so forth and recently sent it back to Amazon for ghosting. After having restored it to stock and doing a factory reset, it couldn't be differentiated from one that was brand new out of the box.
Thanks but I still think there's got to be a way to mod Google play because I have 1 mobile and it works flawlessly, so I guess ill try to mod it

No, there is not a way to do it without root permission. You have to have root access to move to system/apk and change permissions.

I appreciate your drive and willingness to try but the reason it won't work is because even if you were to find a way to get the app to run without being run from system/app you will still not be able to use it to install apps. The way it was designed to integrate with android is to contact google's servers and directly install the app to your device using its own permissions derived from it being a system app. If it doesn't have those permissions it won't know what to do and will crash. It cannot just download the app to a folder like 1mobile does. I understand that you want to use google play without rooting, I tried to do it too before I eventually gave in and rooted, but trust me you will be much happier with the device when you have root permissions. If you decide to stay with the stock amazon version of android I would recommend trying modaco's rooted stock ROM which comes with google play already installed, it will not only save you the trouble of having to attempt to install the app yourself (which is actually more of a hassle than you would think) but it also has better stability than stock does and you don't have to worry about amazon upgrading you overnight without your permission and you losing root.

[Q]Jelly Bean Kindle Fire can't install Amazon apps

I rooted my Kindlle Fire, got it to Jelly Bean, and I can install everything just fine. Netflix works great, youtube, everything.
But every time I try to install the Amazon Appstore it just says "App not installed"
Every time I try to install the Kindle App it gives me an error code "-24" that Google has never seen before
Any idea what I could do to fix this? All I really need is the Kindle App so I can read my books again
Are you trying to install the apps from the Play Store ? I installed them from Play Store & had no issues.

Yeah I tried that, didn't work.
I tried sideloading the Amazon Apps for Android too and that didn't work either.

Yeah, I may try restoring it to stock and starting over tonight when I get home from work to see if that'll do it because, as of right now, I can't figure out why the Amazon appstore won't work as well as the individual Amazon apps
Do a full wipe minus your SD card reflash ROM reflash gapps reboot enjoy
Did you check the option to allow Non-Market apps to install ?

I wouldn't have thought this is possible. Are you wanting to encrypt the whole sdcard, or just create an encrypted folder in it?
Why do you want to encrypt it?

Because there is a loop hole to locking people out of your device and even if you could lock people out of your device it's still possible to mount the kindle to a computer and look thru it's contents. I figured encryption would be a good way to protect privacy and make the device useless in the event it is stolen. Much in the same way an encrypted harddrive would be if it got into the wrong persons hands... accounts, logins , emails pictures, etc.

Are you using Amazon's OS, or are you using one of the 10.1 roms?
There is an option under Security in the settings that will encrypt your data, but I don't know if it works. It says the only way to decrypt it is to wipe the tablet. I also wonder if it would stop you from installing a replacement ROM, unless it it was saved somewhere that wasn't encrypted.
If you couldn't flash using TWRP, you would probably have to push the partitions via fastboot.
I think you need to do some searching on Jelly Bean device encryption.

I am using the Amazon Os along side android, I haven't noticed that option you speak of. Guess I'll have to look into it more. Was thinking truecrypt cause that's the standard when it comes to pcs and usbs. Thanks :good:

Firestick 4K missing Amazon Appstore

So I rooted and unlocked the boot loader on my 4K Firestick. I flashed the predicted mantis zip along with the aftv magisk modules. I have no Amazon AppStore. It says AppStore but when I click it, it is just apps I’ve already downloaded previously. There’s no way to search for new apps. How do I get this back? I’ve reflashed the rom and that didn’t change anything. Do I need to do a factory reset and reflash the mantis predicted rom?

This module replaces the launcher and disables some stock apps, like the appshop, isn't it?
What happens if you disable that module in the magisk manager and reboot?
Let me give it a shot and see what happens
