Hi sir,
i used above link and was confused with that tool so i followed another thread and it worked in taking backup but i was again unable to root my phone. So please help me.....!
Below was the method i followed
Intro: People with 2012 WFS reported to have no CWM visuals (i also do)
*NOTE: Even if you DID install this CM based rom wont work only stock based one*
CWM:
1. Unlock bootloader via HTCdev.com (look for guides there are plenty here)
2.Download http://www.mediafire.com/?pqtgftm40909r31 *updated*
3.Extract to C:/
4.Go to fastboot
4.Open Command prompt
5.type cd c:/WFS
6.type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
7.wait for flashing to finish
8.Remove battery
9.Go to bootloader
10. click recovery wait for visuals
ROOTING:
*same as other methods*but..
1.move the cursor up then down until you see ( back button enabled)
2.Backup
3.Flash root.zip
Help me out to root my phone please sir...
Thank you

Firstly, you should not start flashing stuff to your phone unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing. The community is here to help, not to bail you out because you couldn't be bothered to read the instructions carefully.
Right rant over lets try and get this phone working again. As you have already flashed the rom, that's a start. You now need to go into the bootloader to flash the kernel and ram disk.
So step by step:
1) Boot into the bootloader (hold volume down and power)
2) Download the appropriate boot.img from the ARHD thread.
3) Place the boot.img in the same folder as fastboot.
4) From the Command Line run fasboot flash boot boot.img
5) Then run fastboot erase cache
I may be wrong but I think the ARHD boot.img contains a script which automates steps 4 and 5 in which case you can just run the script and ignore these steps. Once you have done all this the phone will boot normally.

Have u installed the SDK platform tools in ur computer?if not type on google Android SDK and download it then you can do the following. place the image file (which is the kernel) in the path of SDK(where is installed. Mine for example is on C:\Program files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\(Place here UR kernel file) )
afterwards open an CMD and then type the following fastboot flash boot NAME_OF_IMAGE.IMG. everything that dr97.. said is right u should do those steps first. my guidance is on what to do and where to place the kernel. ill be online all time to answer you as sooner i can.

i didnt forget you just checking if we can do it with other way.
found a way. go here download it. Make sure u have the HTC sync installed. Once u download the tool u will find 2 files one exe and one folder.inside the folder u will find 2nd folder with name Kernels. place there your kernel and go back one folder where you will find Windows Batch file with name UserKer Press it and follow the instructions
One more edit. Rename the Kernel as Boot! or else i think it will not work the script
GOOD LUCK

If you are now trying to get back to stock then you need to know a few things first. If you have a branded phone (locked to a network provider) then you will need to download their RUU for the phone, if you have an unbranded phone (can use any sim card in it) then you will need to flash the unbranded RUU for your phone. and unbranded RUU can be Identified if the firmware is like the following: x.xx.401.x, a branded phone goes something like: x.xx.771.x (this is for 3 UK, the 771 part will be different depending on your network).
Secondly what firmware were you on before flashing a custom ROM onto your phone? were you on 1.26, or 1.28, or 1.29? you will need to have the relevant stock recovery and RUU for your firmware version. If you can't remember then what is your hboot version? if its 0.43 then you are most probably on 1.26, 0.94 should be for 1.28, and 0.95 I believe is for the 1.29 variant.
you can unlock your bootloader again using the same unlock.bin file from the HTCDEV site to flash the right stock recovery onto your phone, then relock the bootloader again and then run the RUU. This should bring you back to almost factory defaults.
you should be able to find the right RUU from THIS thread, The right recovery from HERE and disaster recovery tutorial from HERE
And next time PLEASE READ UP ON HOW TO DO THIS STUFF, BEFORE ACTUALLY DOING IT.

and yes i have the unlock.bin that was sent to me by htc can u please be so kind and tell me step by step how:1-flash my unlock.bin
2- then flash the stock recovery for my device thanks alot alot in advance really appreciate every one that is trying to help thank u guys
you can unlock your bootloader again with the same unlock.bin file you got off the HTCDEV site and using the following command in command prompt: fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin ... the signature error could possibly point to having the wrong stock recovery. did you flash the 1.29.401.11 stock recovery?
Edit: could you post the link to where you got that RUU from? I might possibly be able to extract the recovery.img file from it, as I think the 1.29.401.11 recovery might be wrong for you, you might need the 1.29.415.11 recovery to be flashed...

1) clockworkmod is custom recovery,it's most essential thing after unlocking your bootloader.
by this you can flash custom roms, mods etc.
2) HBOOT is when you remove battery and press power+volume down button.it's hboot menu by this you can select recovery, fastboot etc.
3) kernel is connect hardware to software.in short most essential thing in linux environment.
rooting any device is just you add root permissions.main job is unlock the bootloader then you can add custom recovery (clockworkmod)
that's it.after for root permissions you can flash root.zip (it's zip file contains one su binary and superuser app)
hope you get it.
so steps are :
unlock bootloader
flash custom recovery
add root permissions by custom recovery.

[Q] Error 191 when using RUU - Rom not supported

G'day Guys,
I am trying to root my desire HD. currently 2.3.5
I initially followed the HTCDEV method
For my phone which downloaded the RUU program. PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029.exe
this is for Desire HD Vodaphone australia.
I ran the RUU successfully once. It supposedly upgraded the image from 2.12.178.2 to 3.13.0.0
apon rebooting into the fastboot screen as per the HTCDEV instructions when attempting to fastboot I recieved errors saying
"no image or wrong image" or something to that effect.
at this point I went back to the drawing board and tried the HOW TO ROOT WITHOUT HACK KIT thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500) method and script for unlocking the bootloader. which downloaded the same RUU program
apon running it this time it still wished to updrade from 2.12.178.2 to 3.13.0.0 and i recieved the error
ERROR [191]: Rom is not supported
I have searched several threads with this error however none of them seemed to have a solution ie.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2264987
I cannot locate and temporary ROM zips as per this thread below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21231962
EDIT Just found and am re-naming the rom zip as PD98IMG.zip then copying it to sd card root folder.
will update thread with result. apologies again
Appologies for the first thread question and its length.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks and Regards
Ben
So I renamed the rom.zip file copied it to the root folder of the SD card.
booted into fast boot. updated
it said "parsing bootloader complete"
however the phone still appears to be 3.12.178.2 ...
the next step
step 8
htcdev[dotcom]/bootloader/unlock-instructions/page-3
"fastboot oem get_identifier_token"
wont run as it sits there <waiting for device>
if I run the RUU again it still says need to update to 3.13 and that its error 191 invalid rom.
help guys

The top part, the one where you say RUU, that's not a RUU, that just simply updates the HBOOT.
You need to follow this guide.

thanks, yeah i was following that guide.
part of that guide is the "unlock bootloader" portion. I believed thats what the RUU was doing... as those were the steps i was doing.
I was trying to unlock to bootloader. which the guide states you need to do IOT continue on to the ROM steps in the guide you linked.
has anyone had success unlocking the bootloader or any ideas for my issue
thanks for the response. makes sure im on the right path,
Cheers

Use a goldcard to flash a ruu that supports hboot update. That will allow you to unlock the bootloader.

Ok im ready to do this. got my CID... however it appears the Revskills goldcard generator is down and has been for a while
does anyone know of a current goldcard generator that is working.
EDIT:
ok its Alice down the rabbit hole at the moment.
I think I have created a gold card using this tool ... that you posted lol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288012
there are allot of threads asking for goldcards so hopefully this helps someone.
now i just have to work out how to ... Use a goldcard to flash a ruu that supports hboot update. That will allow you to unlock the bootloader. lol
apologies for the n00bage.
now I have a gold card. just trying to work out the next step to find a RUU that will support hboot update on htcdev
can anyone point me to an appropriate RUU? Glevitan perhaps?
thanks all for the help so far its been great
FYI I completed step 1 from this site http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f66...-os-s-off-change-imei-cid-hxc-dongle-1548982/
1.root ur phone :for root u mus unlock boot loader with htcdev/bootloader
hboot 2.00.0029 support token key for unlock bl 2.00.0027 stok not support
u must update hboot to 2.00.0029:
download this rom copy to your c:\ drive so download this dhd update hboot by behtash.rar
and run hboot update by behtash.bat in normal mode ,waiting until flash hboot complete
ok u can now unlock bl with htcdev.com\bootloader
however it would not unlock on htcdev it just sat there saying [waiting for device]
I think my fastboot program may be the issue due to it being the same 69k version that this chap had an issue with
http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3d-all-things-root/476366-help-w-htcdev-waiting-device.html
downloading sdk
MY current stats are
hboot-2.00.0029
radio-26.14.04.28_m
android 2.3.5
htc sense 3.0
software version 3.12.178.2

Find what build version and main you are running by using the command in fastboot USB:
fastboot getvar all
Delete the IMEI and paste the outcome

if it dosent work i will do as suggested. if its something that simple I will feel a bit stupid. will keep you guys updated.
thanks again all for your help
Ok I have unlocked bootloader. I was being a bit of a numpty and not doing the "get identifier token" command whilst the phone was actually on fastboot... the htcdev instructions confused me.
I will keep this post open as I know i will have more problems as I go.
Thanks all for your help so far
do i have to
3. Download rooted stock rom: http://www.multiupload.nl/20T9R21IGY
(link to rom thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...t=rooted+stock )
copy the ROM zip file to your SD card.
as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221039
or can I go straight to download a newer rom. a 4.2 or something and continue on the process
Ok, where I am at.
I have flashed the stock rooted rom as per the guide.
it works fine and has root access.
I didnt go through the process for S-OFF from step 6 onwards as I got a little lost what i needed to do as I had already done some of the goldcard steps. either way.
I am currently unlocked and rooted. with 2.3.5 stock rooted rom.
I tried to install a cryogenmod rom and jellytime rom.
as per this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866122
I installed them from the cwm recovery then tried to "flashboot flash boot boot.img" with their respective boot.img.
both roms didnt progress past the htc boot screen they just black screened.
can anyone hint why these roms wouldnt load? is it an s-on issue? or am i lost with the boot.img or missing another step?
i have reloaded the stock rooted image using cwm and flashboot flash boot boot.img
Thanks all
Ben
The command is "fastboot," not flashboot." Are there any errors when you run it?

Ah appologies I am blind today.
No error msgs. Boot.IMG is coppied over as it is when I do it with the rooted stock Rom.
Just when rebooting afterwards. The phone does its .HTC flash screen for like 30 secs then it goes to a black screen (phone on) indefinitely.
The process I am using is
1 zip Rom on sdcard.
2 cwm delete user data
3 cwm install zip image from sdcard which works
4 reboot
5 fastboot USB
6 from pc: fastboot flash boot boot.IMG (extracted from Rom zip)
Am I doing anything incorrectly or missing a step.
Rooted, unlocked bootloader s-on
Thanks all
Is the phone in fastboot? What ROM? What recovery version?

The phone was in fastboot USB
The working Rom is the one listed shoved from the full root sticky..3.12.405.1 rooted by nitr00
The 2 Roms that failed were jellytime and cryogen. Either the current or most recent stable apparently
Recovery is cwm. It's a slightly older version I think though. It was the only one I could find at the time.
Maybe 2. Something. I'll reboot now and check. Could that be an issue?
Bootloader unlocked
Hboot 2.00.0029
Radio 26.14.04.28m
Cwm recovery v 2.5.1.2
Yay just tried with the latest version of CWM and it works... FFS why wouldnt I have used the current version.
anyway I am playing with 4.2.2 jelly time now.
Thanks so much every contributor. your replies helped me keep going.

[Q] Help Needed Regarding S-OFF.

Hey all members of this forum.
So, I am a newbie in rooting. The last phone I rooted was the Samsung Galaxy Y and it was pretty darn easy! All I had to do was download the files on the device itself.
Now, as you might have guessed, I am using the HTC Wildfire S and rooting it is a pain!
Here's what I have done till now:
1, Unlocked bootloader via htcdev.com
Now this is what my bootloader shows right now:
***UNLOCKED***
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.09.0099
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.57.39.15M
Now, I tried rooting via this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275
However, when I place the PG76IMG.zip file in the root folder of my SD card, and open bootloader, this happens:
MODEL ID INCORRECT!
UPDATE FAILED!
PRESS <POWER> TO REBOOT.
I have tried this a lot of times but every time the same thing happens. :/
Please can anyone guide me to obtain S-OFF or root without having to obtain S-OFF? I really need your help :/
P.S: I found this process to root via the HTC SuperTool v3. Should I give it a try? Will I be able to install custom ROMs after that (specifically this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183509) ??
PLEASE HELP!!

Ok, thanks.
But then how can I root? Because I am sure I need root access before flashing a custom ROM. Whenever I try to HBOOT the CWM Recovery file it displays this error:
MODEL ID INCORRECT!
UPDATE FAILED!
PRESS <POWER> TO REBOOT.
It happens over and over again. Any suggestions on this problem?

Why don't you want to extract files before executing them? It's really not a good idea to run file from an archive.

Maybe you need to run the file as Administrator. Or try to download the zip file again...
But you DON'T REALLY NEED s-off to install custom ROMs. It's even more likely that you will brick your phone when it is s-off when you are able to change initial partitions.
Really?!! Thank you!!

The only thing you have to remember when you have s-on hTC phone - every time when you will flash custom ROM, you must flash compatible kernel manually using fastboot command (recovery is not able to flash boot partition when s-on). So read OPs very carefully about kernels compatible with that ROM. Most often the best kernel file is included within a ROM zip file (boot.img). Good luck!
Really thank you!
