New google camera - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

I found this
http://en.miui.com/thread-4447-1-1.html

Thx ! Works fine on my Nexus 4

- Does photo sphere work aftr installing it?
- Is root required?
- Also, its written on various blogs that it will replace existing gallery.. so do we need to back up the existing images/videos etc?

Can we install this alongside pur stock camera app like a regular apk, or do we have to install it as a system app and replace the old one?

Does it have a timer?

Yes, photo sphere works. Root is best because if you install as apk it will install to data/app, so you will need to go the system/app and backup & delete or rename as bak the previous version. Existing images and videos are still there.

I have not installed it yet as I am at work. I saw it posted on the forum and they all said it worked good so I thought I'd share

I installed it from someone who posted it in another thread on XDA earlier this morning.
Liking the improvements to both the camera and the gallery and at least to me the camera doesn't seem as sluggish as before.

Also, the fact that you can snap the shot with the volume rocker is sweet!!

Installed but uninstalled. PhotoSphere didn't work correctly. It was not able to read the gyro sensor hence the angels were odd.

What baseband/radio are you using? I found that version 33 and below break some of the sensors on both this new version and the current 4.2 camera software.

same on my phone, stock rom/kernel.
it takes only one hemisphere, definitely not getting the sensors right.
the rest of the dots that should be on the other hemisphere, just overlay the already taken pics.

Does it launch in portrait or landscape mode? When I launch the SiriusXM app it forces into landscape (even when holding portrait).
After Logging In, Downloading Channel Updates & Logos it crashes. I hit 'Report' after crashing to hope the developer notices the 4.1 JB Nexus 7 errors are building-up.

Hi all -
Our app currently only supports Android phones. However, there are a handful of tablets our app does work on. We are working towards our next release which will include several new tablets.
Sorry, we don't have a release date to provide you at the moment.
Hope this helps,

Multiwindow is disabled

Just to let you all know, multiwindow does not work on this build. Yes, I long-pressed the back button multiple times and it doesn't work. Might need to be updated like the international version did before it is functional. Kinda sucks, figured they would have launched it with that.
Can you check screen recording? I know it was removed from the international, but one can hope.

I'm sure we'll be seeing an OTA soon - it's possible that Sammy used the original international build to install the carrier bloatware.

Video recording is such an important feature that Sprint will have so many people breathing down it's collective neck. They will have to fix it or risk public derision equivalent to Sony and their run in with Anonymous...ok maybe not that far, but you get the point.

I'm sure it's something we can bring back just haven't looked at it yet. I have a midterm in an hour an a half so I will look at some stuff tonight. But I need the tar, I'm not gonna put a ROM out without it. Don't like to build off system dumps, even if it is a new dump from the device I just got.

Major security hole in stock kernel

See thread here
A user has found that access to RAM is basically unrestricted in the stock kernel for exynos 4 devices, including our version of the Note 2.
At the thread there is a terminal technique to check if you are vulnerable.
Anyone on a custom kernel: If you could run the commands and post whether your kernel is safe or not that would be extremely helpful.
In the meantime, be extremely careful installing apps, as this bug requires no special permissions.

Just a quick sanity check here. You said installed. Did you run the app and have it 'fix it'. I can install and not have any problems with my camera just breaks after I fix it.
Would also be useful if we post what rom and kernel used so we can compare what works and what doesn't.

I haven't looked at the link but if its what I think it is u can use the app to root also if those haven't been rooted and also patch the exynos. The thread I've read it did break camera if u where on the latest update but not the one before . I hope Samsung n Att release a update that will fix this for our note 2 soon just careless on their part that there is even a security hole to begin with.

Works fine so far, but seems to be missing the HDR option.
Plus, Photosphere seems to be bugged, most of the panoramas i try to shoot come out pretty borked. I have the impression that it doesnt actually save more than 3 captured images... but maybe its just me.

Chameleon OS test ROM available- Device maintainer wanted

Hello All,
The developer of Chameleon OS has "blind" made a test build for t0ltetmo, available at http://goo.im/devs/ChameleonOS/roms/t0ltetmo/cos-0.8_4.3-20130828-EXPERIMENTAL-t0ltetmo.zip
Google Apps http://goo.im/devs/ChameleonOS/gapps/gapps-jb43-20130826-chaos.zip
It is Android 4.3, full wipe required.
In limited testing, all appears to work except bluetooth.
We are looking for someone to help by maintaining this device long term.
Thanks and enjoy!

Glad to see this got posted - ran it all day and no hiccups (outside of the bluetooth bit) to report. I'm down to lend a hand but I fear I would require a bit too much hand holding at the onset than the team would really want (uber n00b and all that).
