Chameleon OS test ROM available- Device maintainer wanted - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello All,
The developer of Chameleon OS has "blind" made a test build for t0ltetmo, available at http://goo.im/devs/ChameleonOS/roms/t0ltetmo/cos-0.8_4.3-20130828-EXPERIMENTAL-t0ltetmo.zip
Google Apps http://goo.im/devs/ChameleonOS/gapps/gapps-jb43-20130826-chaos.zip
It is Android 4.3, full wipe required.
In limited testing, all appears to work except bluetooth.
We are looking for someone to help by maintaining this device long term.
Thanks and enjoy!
hoppermi

Downloading to check it out. I'd love to maintain it, but honestly never consumed from source so it's way over my head. Hopefully someone will take the challenge though

Nice
Glad to see this got posted - ran it all day and no hiccups (outside of the bluetooth bit) to report. I'm down to lend a hand but I fear I would require a bit too much hand holding at the onset than the team would really want (uber n00b and all that). I'm sure someone w/ aosp chops will come along though

Hoppermi.. Nice to see you here .... thanks for posting.

I thought you all might like some idea of what this is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu1IWOKnPfI
Also, a new build is up. You can find all your builds here http://goo.im/devs/ChameleonOS/roms/t0ltetmo I see there was a bluetooth related commit in our github, I have no idea if it fixes yours, let me know...

This thing is impressive. I ran it for a while yesterday to check it out. Amazingly smooth and very unique theme. I enjoyed it, to bad I have to have WiFi calling.
By the way the animations and shut down was great!

Ahhhh..Thanks alot man. Will do.
I found this rom by downloading GOOManger.
After realizing it was still alive & being updated frequently, I searched for a thread on XDA. It led me here.
You should really consider putting this thread in another part of the T-Mobile Note II forum (Android Original Development ) for more exposure.
It's highly underrated. :good:

Google Wallet?

The Note II supposedly has NFC support, but the Google Wallet app from Google Play still says it can't be used.
Is there any way to use Google Wallet on the AT&T Galaxy Note II?
Came here to ask this too... I googled as well and found this

Try THAT (changing the buildprop to a Galaxy Nexus after root)? I don't know how to root yet, so I'll let you know if I'm successful

In case anyone's confused....
Uninstall Google Wallet.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083
Change Build.prop lines mentioned in step 2.
Flash: SGS3-TW-US_variants-lib_nfc-fix-jellybean_4.1-1.zip
Reboot.
Install Google Wallet from market.
Add cards and follow what WarlockLord said in his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031127

I'm saying that Google Wallet is not working on my AT&T Note II. I did this:
1. Reboot into TWRP and install the zip provided by Warlock in linked thread
2. Reboot system
3. Start up Google Wallet, force close during setup (the screen that says "setup may take up to 5 minutes"... etc)
EDIT: I didn't install from Google Play, I thought I did... but apparently the ZIP installs it for me? I go to Google Wallet in the Play store and there is no "Uninstall" option which means it must be installed in system...

yes you have to do it over again for New ROM. Restore from TiBu not gonna work
Anyone with this done successfully wanna make a flashable zip? Would only need to grab the files in the zip in linked thread and then replace the ones in hte old zip with the ones from your file system. This would help all att users and that user also so they wouldnt have to do the mod over and over, just flash the zip.

Major security hole in stock kernel

See thread here
A user has found that access to RAM is basically unrestricted in the stock kernel for exynos 4 devices, including our version of the Note 2.
At the thread there is a terminal technique to check if you are vulnerable.
Anyone on a custom kernel: If you could run the commands and post whether your kernel is safe or not that would be extremely helpful.
In the meantime, be extremely careful installing apps, as this bug requires no special permissions.

Just a quick sanity check here. You said installed. Did you run the app and have it 'fix it'. I can install and not have any problems with my camera just breaks after I fix it.
Would also be useful if we post what rom and kernel used so we can compare what works and what doesn't.

I haven't looked at the link but if its what I think it is u can use the app to root also if those haven't been rooted and also patch the exynos. The thread I've read it did break camera if u where on the latest update but not the one before . I hope Samsung n Att release a update that will fix this for our note 2 soon just careless on their part that there is even a security hole to begin with.

Yes, photo sphere works. Root is best because if you install as apk it will install to data/app, so you will need to go the system/app and backup & delete or rename as bak the previous version. Existing images and videos are still there.

Lollipop port

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/orig-development/rom-namelessrom-2-0-t2943424
I imagine e it'd be easier to start with the port.
Now all we need are some porting pros.
Its dissapointing that no one is even attempting to maintain this phone now. I suppose, I could try to commission a maintainer though...
Edit: well I found out what happened to one of our biggest device maintainers.

To get mobile network go to settings--more--cell network--cdma subscription and change to NV
wifi needs to be turned on once before screen turns off or you will bootloop you can turn it off afterwards and rom will work fine
you need to change settings for keyboard to work settings--language&input--current keyboard then enable hardware switch

Liking it so far. Let it be known you do have to go download a gapps package though. Just did that. Then going to test a couple cameras.

OK. So I understand this now. The back camera does not work period. Even with other apps.
Runs great! I wonder how big of an impact the mostly white menus will drain our batteries. And if the new way Android works and its battery saving will off put that.
"Edit"
Xposed sadly is not compatible with Android 5 yet.

Also might want to make sure internal sd is wiped and android folder on your external sd is deleted. Dont use much facebook (clear/blue is what I have) and not tested on lp. Got to love how they make you use a second app to help suck your battery down even more.

Right? We are supposed to believe them forcing us to use a second app is to make things better for us and not them being up to something, messed up something, and\or not have a clue what they are doing?
I did clean to install new ROM 3 times. Might try full wipe too

Audio output has taken a fairly decent upgrade before any tweaks.
Odd issue is my XDA app is deleted every time I reboot.

Paid or free xda? I have paid on cm12 and no issues with it disappearing on reboot. Also restored a few times and still fine.

Free for me. That and when I restore WiFi access data nothing restores. Only issues I really found thus far.
And the audio is great.

The only issue I have so far on this ROM is the back camera not working with any app. I do use my camera quite a bit so I will most likely revert to my backup until this gets fixed.

I have compiled AICP 5.0.1 (has mobile service) and BrokenPOP (before mobile service worked) and only BrokenPOP had both front and rear camera working. I am working on a new compile of BrokenPOP now and if camera is still working I will port that over to both CM and AICP.
