[Q] 13MP New Google Camera? - LG Optimus G (International)

Has anyone got the new google camera to work with 13MP or gotten the PhotoSphere to work?
This camera Im talking about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341996
Can only select 8MP in the settings and when you start PhotoSphere and align it, nothing happens.
Im using Paranoid Android rom from 26th June and F93 0.6 Kernel, tried with Kite r30 and was same. Anyone had any luck with other roms and/or kernel variations?

Just downloaded it and had the same problem.
Problem a ui error.

Well, here we go again.photosphere will not work on non nexus devices.google made it like this.it needs heavy coding to make it work, but it will stop on next update.photosphere worked on our g,on an early cm build by chad, because his kernel is based on a modified nexus4 source.but not anymore.photosphere is the cherry pic from google for the nexus line.

If you have that then unistall all gallery you have (be sure to backup them) and install new one as a normal app. Then you can launch the PhotoSphere.

But it does work, and it works on many different phones and brands with this camera, so your point is mute. Of course it may be patched out in the future, but I guess only Google developers know when or if that happens.
I wonder if the greyed out camera has to do with why we dont get 13MP.

I watched the thread, this new camera apk does not automatically brings photosphere. Again,i'm gonna quote chadouming, one of the top developers for our g :"if you want photosphere, buy a nexus".there is more than the camera.apk and gallery.apk.you also need to patch the kernel with the necessary lines to make it functional.
End of story.so,unless you are a dev and you know how to make it work,be my guest and go ahead.but any other discussions are useless and unproductive.
Ps,if the camera it's coming from a nexus device,of course we won't have 13mpx,nexus has 8mpx camera.not to mention the kernel. Don't get me wrong,i would love to have photosphere working on g,but repeating same things over and over and opening new threads for nothing is not going to help.

You clearly have no idea where this new camera is from. It's from HTC one and Samsung gs4 which do have 13mp(the s4). So the camera should handle 13mp. As for photosphere it's not that it's blocked and crashes, it just doesn't take the picture. It may not work for us, but it does work for lots of other phones, so I wanted to rule out it's not PA.
EDIT: I just tested with the stock based korean rom for geeb and it worked with photosphere, still just 8MP though.
EDIT2: Just realized geeb is just 8MP. Guess I will KDZ back and try on E975 stock.
EDIT3: Stock E975 didnt give 13MP either, but you can use PhotoSphere, and you can use both cameras at same time, dont even need root to install.

I was hoping it would replace the LG camera.it works but iamnot impressed.it is just like Snap Camera HDR.apk..with slightly wider view.

Camera on Chad's CM10.1
Hi,
Since I can't post in the developer thread yet, I hope this is the correct place to ask about Chad's CM10.1 for the LG e975.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229806 "CM10.1 for Intl Optimus G (E975)"
Does anyone know what is the status of the camera in Chad's CM10.1? I had been using CM10.1 official but decided to try out Chad's version, using the latest nightly cm-10.1-20130709-Unofficial-geehrc_intl.zip. In my case the camera won't focus? Just checking here to see if anyone has similar problems because the posts in that thread seem to suggest the focusing issue has been fixed.
Thanks.

for me work
hello, I have a 975 (italian) model, and I can confirm that photospere work perfectly. The only problem is the 8MP resolution. Is strange becouse my apk is from galaxy s4 that have a 13MP camera. Anyway I'm more than satisfacted to have photospere, and I can confirm too that android camera and LG camera are both installed and both work togheter (same for the gallery!)
bye bye

Hi
Good to know focusing does work! Just curious how you managed to have photosphere working? I thought that is only available on a real Nexus 4?

Just install like a normal app apk. Apparently Google edition phones that aren't nexus get photosphere also, which this is from.

Installs on my Aus E975K CM 10.1.2 after I uninstalled the existing Gallery2 app, but restricted to 8MP. Also photosphere will open, but not take anything or show the scene (sits on "Align to Start").
I have reinstalled the old Gallery too, and the two camera apps seem to sit alongside each other just fine.

You have to be on stock for photosphere to work. But it should be fixable for cm if they want and find why.

I have a question. Does anyone know if you're able to run the stock camera from the Incredible 2 rom on CM7? If so, can someone running rooted stock Incredible 2 upload the APK? If not, can someone suggest a better camera than the CM7 camera?
Thanks

You cannot. The framework is different from an AOSP Rom vs a Sense Rom. Many people hate it because that vanilla camera In CM7 is ugly lol
Sent from my Rinky Dinky DInc2
I was afraid it was a sense based camera. I guess the only other option is dealing with MIUI or this ****ty CM7 camera. It's fine except I'm one that hates random flashes of different colors come across my screen so when the green flashes, it bugs the living hell out of me lol.
How are you liking the Sensation 2.0 rom and the dirty chad kernel? Also, your 225 radio you have installed, does it work better than the 622 radio? I seem to get no reception on mine and I live close to a tower lol.
Yea, that camera IS the reason I do not use AOSP roms

I love it, the smoothest so far for me. And the kernel is one he posted for another ROM, it just happens to work fine for this one. Charges faster and has profiles you can change as far as governors and voltage modifications.
The radio I'm running is still the stock radio by the way. I haven't messed with that yet. Haven't ran into anything major. I live out in the boonies and get 1X so I don't really care, I gots WiFi

The radios vary depending on where you are located. I'm going to try one of the GB radios when I get around to it lol. Its pretty much play around with em and see which one works best over a day or two (per radio)

MIUI camera isn't too bad and there's a flashable version of it floating around here somewhere (compatible with CM7). My question would be around photo quality. Would a picture taken with a stock phone look the same as a photo taken with the MIUI camera (in 8mp mode) if printed out? It seems the sense camera is optimized for our resolution, but is overall picture quality any worse with MIUI? or does it have to do with the hardware?

It's an APK file so that means it is either installable or if that's not the case, you place it in /system/app and set the permission correctly
Permissions: can be set with root explorer
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Others - read
The APK one should have working FFC capabilities. I've tried it out before starting this thread and it works great and looks very similar to the stock camera, except for the fact that when you take a picture, the screen flashes green which I can't stand. It's annoying but it does take pictures of the same quality as the AOSP camera. The other issue with the camera is that when the camera shows whatever it does, it is stretched, yet when you take the picture, it fixes itself and takes a normal picture. Quirky, but still works.

I'm worried that if I try to flash the stock radio that I would brick the phone because the stock radio is for Froyo FW and CM7 is Gingerbread. lol

This is the Miui camera I use with CM 7.
Since I couldn't really see any need of wanting to use the stock camera, I renamed the apk to "camera" and replaced the stock camera app in the system folder, changed the permissions/ownership and good to go. (I did make a .bak of the stock CM 7 for a just in case moment)
I like the Miui camera app. I didn't have FFC with it though. I do though now using the latest Miui Rom though...

I assume your referring to camera's? If so, I prefer the Miui camera over the CM 7 camera.
As far as rom preference, I like both, but currently I'm using Miui.
When taking photos using the Miui camera on the Miui rom, the only thing that flashes green is just the viewfinder box. The actual screen just goes black.
I'd have to flash back to CM 7 to see if the camera flashes the screen green or not. I don't remember now if it did or didn't. I don't think it did, but I don't want to say that it didn't without checking...
I flashed MIUI earlier and it seemed nice, a little different than what I'm used to in CM7, but what I did notice that I absolutely dislike is that 1) I tried to restore back to CM7 and when going through the ROM manager, it said that my phone was essentially not rooted anymore (more specifically that superuser permissions wasn't giving ROM manager the permissions and I went into SU and checked and it was installed, updated, and was supposed to be giving permissions where it needed to be), and 2) Whenever you drag an icon off the screen to remove the icon, it only wants to uninstall the app. Other than that, it seems like a decent ROM.
Yup, the last couple of updates to Miui has had to have the permissions set on SU. Don't know what happened that it has to be that way. It didn't used to be that way.
I also don't care to much for the Miui Launcher, and it's unremovable apps (you can make folders though, and place the apps in there, but still not quite what I like). To Iphone for me... I use the Adw ex launcher (same that I use on CM 7)
Really, my version of Cm 7 and Miui are almost twins... Basically the only diff is in the menus and a few cosmetics.
CM 7 on the left, Miui on the right...
Holy ****! Finally someone else that has this same problem!

[APPS] A more complete JB 4.2 Camera and Gallery

Hi,
I've created a flashable zip based on the files extracted by dmmarck (it's all his doing! I'm just packaging it). Just flash from CWM or TWRP.
Everything should work: regular pics, photosphere, gallery and editor. On my device, it all coexists nicely with my existing camera and gallery.
Edit: just noticed that garner had updated his own thread with more things working. It seems his archive contains fewer files, which is great if you want to save space. If it's not working for you, though, try this version.
Thanks cyansmoker!
For me garner's zip didnt work. Yours did!

the ONLY problem I am having with the photosphere is that it seems to snap pictures when the blue dot isnt directly center of the target. Its close to but not directly center which leads to most of my pictures being "off" from one another.. I wonder if theres a way to slow down the speed or pause it for a second so the blue dot lines up correctly

In my case, I found out that actually slowing down while panning with my phone made things better. I guess my phone was having a hard time figuring out what I was aiming it at.
i've tried to slow it down also (this isnt the panorama selection but the photosphere), but once the blue dot to line up the next shot gets close to the target recticle center where it should be(might be a better word), it snaps the next picture before even getting in the center if that makes sense
I get force close when opening both camera and gallery app. Hmm.. not sure what's wrong though.
I have a cwm backup, but is there other way to restore old camera back? maybe someone has the original apk for camera and gallery?

I believe that as long as you delete /system/app/GalleryGoogle.apk and reboot your phone, you should have access to your old camera.
Of course it is different from ROM to ROM...

rename the gallery2.apk to gallery.bak, then try to install. I dont see a gallery4 on mine (current Bamf), just a GALAXY4, which is a lwp and googlegallery is what the new one is (I think).

[Q] Photosphere Camera black screen

After using CyanogenMod versions 9 through 10.2 I made the decision to switch to SlimRom and I am now running SlimKat 4.4.2 Build 4.1. During my entire time with CM, I had an easy time working with ported photosphere enabled camera apk's. However, upon the move to SlimRom, more specifically, the update to KitKat, the photosphere mode of the camera apk I had been using for several months was not working. Although I could take pictures with every other mode of the camera, whenever I switched to photosphere mode, the viewing screen would turn black, with all the rest of the UI working as normal. When I go to move it around, I can still see the dots for lining up the first photo, but it won't even let me take photos with this blacked out screen. I've attached a photo of the app in photosphere mode for better clarification, and I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out here.
Thanks in advance!
I have Slimkat as well. I do know the included Camera does not have Photosphere. If you are using a different app then please post a link so I can give it a whirl and post my findings.

I have pm'ed you the links. My status as a new user prevents me from posting outside links
Yup got it. I will take a look and post back. Have you ever tried the Google Edition Camera ?
EDIT - I tried the Camera app from
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/a...e/NewCameraApp[2].apk
It worked pretty well for me. I am on Slim-d2lte-4.4.2.build.4.4-WEEKLY-3771and KT747 Kernel.
Weird...that was the one that started me on my search for new photosphere apks...
I tried installing the GE one and saw your edit, tried that one again, without luck on either of them so I tried another full wipe, updated to that latest weekly and after a few reboots and system app changes, the GE one appears to work for me. No black screen, the images stitch well and I can view them afterwards, seems like its back to my expectations. Thank you very much.
Glad its working for you. Please see the note on Slim Rom's home page. Google has release a new Camera app. That's working wonders for me.
I will also try that.

[Q] Stock Camera App to AOSP

I really love the stock camera app that is pre installed on the Find 7. I did find it sad that once I tried installing a new ROM like AOSP or Cyanogenmod, I lost the camera app with special features. Features as 120 FPS or GIF Animation etc are all gone. Is there a way to return the app back to such ROM or is there a similiar app that does the same kind of tricks?
Normally stock cameras won't work on any custom roms, there's dependencies and blobs from stock that would need to be ported over, It would be awesome if someone would be able to do this, the stock camera app was pretty sweet.
I would love to have this feature, I like the Google camera app, but it's nowhere near as powerful as the colorOS one.
Subscribed to this thread... Simply to expect some very kind developer would be kind enough to port Oppo Stock Camera App to be able to run on AOSP custom ROM or on CM12 with Lollipop...

Exactly the reason why am not flashing other ROMs as the camera feature is important as it is being used for work and leasure. I tried so many ROMs since my S2 days, however, after weeks of experiencing the Camera of the Find7a, and comparing it with CM and other android , the Oppo version really nailed it for me. Have you tried the super macro? Lately, this was included in the COS V2.0.5Beta.

My situation is, I can take using ultrahd but when I look at the picture size, it was only 3-5 mb max which to me that it's not working , on colour os rom, it was usually around 9mb. And the picture itself is much sharper. For the slow shutter, it can go up to 30+seconds,but in reality it's only around 2 seconds. The picture end up really dark.
oh yeah, the mod and plugins need an update to suppor the new cm/oppo camera blobs including it's HAL for it to work on newer roms

50mp/clear image/ultra HD doesn't work
Tried on many roms that support lvm, the closest to working 100% is omni rom, but still 50mp/clear image/ultra HD, doesn't work, but slow shutter wonderfully.

LG camera app for non-LG ROMs

Where to find stock LG camera app for non-LG ROMs, which has lots of features?
Namely, I have installed Cyanogen 5.1, need help.
Thanks.
There isn't a version. The stock camera will only work on stock ROMs.

Thanks,
SO whats gonna be the next best thing? I'm using stock google camera app but missing instant HDR and it seeme like picture quality (in terms of color balances) is not that great and camera is much slower.
I might be wrong, but there IS an LG camera app for cm based roms. You still don't have the great image quality, since the drivers are closed source. But you do get the camera software. I don't remember on which ROM thread the app is located, but I would start on the CM13 and CM12 threads.

Noting in CM13 thread, but is pointless as you get worse pictures than using any normal cagers app.
Second post on CM 13 Thread

It doesn't work on the g4 snap camera v3. In the older version it works but pics won't get saved with flash.
That's because it's closed source.
Follow the thread, maybe codeworkx will find a solution.
It's all fixed now
