Car Mount - LG Optimus G Pro

Anyone got a good car mount go the OGP? Thinkg of going with the iBolt but worried about it hitting the on./off and vol buttons

Our landscape home screen will flip either way. If that helps any.

I'm using a smart gear car mount ($15 at Micro Center) that has been working very well. I have a case on my phone that protects the buttons a bit so I haven't had any issues with it. I haven't tried it without the case on but I think it would be ok without, just probably would squeeze it quite as tight on the phone as I do with the case on.

I have that. It's pretty ridiculous. Every few weeks I pull it off the mount (which is easy) and wash it under warm or hot water. Sticky as new again.
Do not use that with a naked phone, It will pull the back cover off LOL!

If you have a slot-loading cd slot on your car stereo, you can use this.

I've been using it for about two years, bought it for my original Galaxy Note and fits the LG OGP as well. It won't damage the slot and it doesn't jerk around or bounce with the car's movements.

seems pretty good

This will hold onto the OGP with a Zerolemon and supplied case.
I really dig it.
I have never had a phone fall off this yet.

I work at officemax and this mount was on sale for around $10 on black friday last year, so I got it. Great mount. Holds the G Pro very securely, and very easy to adjust, too.

I just got the vent mount version of that holder and it works surprisingly well with the OG Pro. I thought it would be loose, but it did a great job on a road trip.

As far as Off Roading, I drive a Subaru Baja.... So I have no idea LMAO!

I got the iBolt xProDock (the generic one) and the thing is great, not interfering with the buttons at all, and it's rock solid. I do use it with a TPU case, rather than bare, mind you.

I also got one of those universal clip-style mounts (not the dock style ones). It's actually pretty good too, though there's no real way to fix a charging cable to it without it looking strange. Also, with my windshield's angle, I had to adjust the thing to the stops at both ends for the OGP to be angled properly. It would probably work better on a more vertical windshield.

Anyone considering Nokia's universal wireless charging cradle CR-200 http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/cr-200/
Seems like it will fit our LGPro but not sure if the 0.750A will be sufficient to keep the charge while running navigation... Any thoughts?

I still have my RAM mount when I had a Nexus 7. This thing was solid and they also make universal mounts for phones. You have to purchase the base to connect to your car though. I had one that mounts to the base of the passenger side seat. This was set up for a tablet though. Nexus 7's make awesome GPS There's lots of different choices you can mix and match parts to make a custom mount as long as they're compatible with each other.

I went old school.............
Low gauge sheet metal, check!
Sheet Metal Bender, check!
Industrial grade velcro, check!
I cut a 2" wide by 5" long piece of sheet metal and I bent it 90 degrees, took three screws and screwed the angle sleeve into the dash.
Applied 1 side of the velcro to the angle sleeve, over the top, so the the velcro doesn't want to peel off the sleeve.
Applied the other side of the velcro to the back of the phone and it's done.
I wrap the usb cord around the bottom of the sleeve below the phone. My phone doesn't move, and it's very usable

They make the same one for multiple tablets and/or DVD players as they mention in the product title. Also, the dimensions they quote will fit the xoom.
Oddly enough, they charge different prices different models though they appear to be the same product.
I just put this mount into my car. It works great with the xoom!

Looks like a http://www.ram-mount.com mount.
It finally came, although just a day after a I was hoping to get it. Haven't had a chance to take a pic yet but it installed in minutes and fit perfectly in my Jeep Grand Cherokee.
There are foam pads on the clips which will prevent any scratching of the screen. The piece that holds the xoom has a spring loaded back which will hold it securly in the mount. Nothing really stopping you from using it with the portfolio case or other protective casing.
The only beef I have has to do with the headrest mount and the part that holds the xoom. They are two separate pieces which work on a slide lock mechanism. I imagine over time this could be an issue. Not so worried because of 14 price tag.
Very sturdy and well made for a $14 headrest mount. More well thought out than the portfolio case
Will try to take a pic or two tonight and upload.

Hi KidJoe,
Do you have a case on the Xoom right now? If you're using the Motorola portfolio case, by any chance, there's a sort of channel between the upper and lower sections of the case's back section in which you can nicely fit a small (like parachute or clothesline) cord. Not at all fancy, but it's quick and dirty and allows you to tie the Xoom to a headrest. It may not appear stable until you try it, since the back folds, but when it's tied to a firm object the back cannot fold and the Xoom stays nicely in place. You'll even have access to the charging port.

$1.99 Hoodrat Car Mount (Jeep Grand Cherokee)

So I bought a G10.1 last week and I love it! I am always looking to get the most out of my purchases and since I always use my phone in my car (HTC Evo Shift 4G) I instantly started looking for Car mounting options. Yes, that is a picture of those el-cheapo plastic self adhesive hooks, for $1.99 a pack. The gears started turning...
I picked them up, knowing the adheive was going to be junk for what I wanted to use them for (wouldn't hold to the heat/cold)... but I carry 3M Double Sided EXTREME Tape in my Jeep because you never know what you will need to mount to the dash...
So when I got home, I lined it up, and found that the mounting spots I was hoping to use matched perfect. At first I used all 4, but then took one of the top corner hooks off, making it easier to "slide" into the other three, yet still holding it rock solid. It covers the middle vents, so I closed them, which pushes the air to the other ones.
** NOTE ** I have a ZAGG InvisibleSHEILD and a Chinese bumper-style case from e-bay on it, this allows it to "snap" into place, and I don't have to worry about the hooks on the screen... Use caution, I am not responsible for you marking your tablet up.
Here is a picture of "Car Dashboard"... I was unable to find any other tablet ready Car Dock apps, but this one seems to work well for now...
One more with Google Maps
One with Google Music (I have it Wifi Tethered to my phone)
If you have your own mounting solutions, lets see em!
@TechJeeper
Neat. Looks like the ideal situation would be having black ones, put two pointing up on the bottom, one on each side pointing to each other, and then having enough space to slide the tablet down from above.
i did something a little different about a week ago. its a mount made for the tab that i modded with a phone mount that hooks to the air vents. its really sturdy.

The lip that hangs over the dash on the Grand Cherokee makes it impossible to slide in from the top... that was my first idea... but this seems to work well. I plan on replacing them with Black hooks in the future, but they were more expensive, and I wasnt sure if this was even gonna work.
The 10.1 is to big for my mx5 :-| im looking for used 7" tab to play around with. They look like i could mount it so it sticks out of the double din just enough to power and plug In
Nice, I've been wanting to do something similar in my jeep as well. Unfortunately, I dropped my tab (face first) on concrete yesterday and shattered the front glass.

Since you're using an alternate, stronger adhesive, you could cut the circle part of the hooks down to look more presentable while the tab is not present. Just an idea.

A RAM medium aqua box holds it very snugly and could be secured via a RAM steering stem mount.
I've got it for my Daytona 675 and it works great. I do, however, need to modify the aqua box a bit to make room for a charging cable's end to plug into my Powerlet socket.

Sadly though I can't use a steering stem mount. The hole is only 0.25 and it needs to be atleast 0.50.
That medium aqua box, is it bulky?
Ah, that's too bad, I'm sure you can find somewhere to mount another RAM ball though!
The aqua box is definitely bulkier than a non-waterproof case, but it's not so bulky that it gets in the way while riding even when I tuck behind my windscreen. I'll try to snap a few pictures for you in the next day or two, not positive when I'll have a chance since my bike is in storage at the moment though.

When I bought my Droid 2 years ago, I just dropped it in this universal spring loaded mount I was using for my PDA and it worked great.
I am going to order another to have in my car so I won't have to keep moving it back and forth from my bike. I expect to be able to use these mounts for any phone I buy in the foreseeable future (I am waiting on my GN to arrive in the mail right now). You can put whatever type mount you want with it to attach it to the bike or car.
I ride a Honda VFR 750 and do alot of long rides with it.
This will not offer protection from rain, but if it is very light rain, I usually just keep one of those stretchy type plastic kitchen bowl covers that have the elastic cord around the outside. They are made out of the same stuff ziplock bags are made of. The right size will stretch over the entire mount and keep it dry as long as you are not riding in a downpour.
Kind of stinks that none of these mounts (the Verizon one especially) don't have inputs for any of the cables. So you basically have to rip the case off, dock it, then connect everything every time. Make me sad they cant do what Motorola does and build em to work with all of that =(
This might help you sir, try Googling RAM Motorcycle Mount. Still can't post external links.
Got givi case and it works fine fir me

I got this a week ago. I love the slim design of the N7, and REALLY hated the one smart flipcase I got on ebay. It made the N7 heavier, bulkier, and more unwieldy.
I had seen these a year or so ago, and have some vision issues, so I need to carry several pairs of eyeglasses with me.
I looked in my bookmarks, pulled this up, and the grabbit is a perfect solution for me!
The front leg pocket easily holds my galaxy s3 so I can tether, and they also hold 2 pairs of eyeglasses.
The large pocket has no zipper, so there is nothing to scratch the tablet, and because it has both a Velcro closure and a snap strap, the tablet is safe n secure. Because of its location, there is also no twist stress put on the tablet.
There aren't the cheapest things at $25 a pop, but I got both left and right for about $50 shipped, and the seller even included the expansion straps for waist and legs. (The waist fits up to 43" or so.)
I don't need the expansions, but it was nice of him to offer them.
You could easily put a ps3 game controller in the left large pocket if you wanted on the go gaming on the tablet, and there are plenty of pockets to carry things like bt headsets, a charger cord and the like.
I'm still on the hunt for a VERY slim smartcase with a front cover, but this will suit me fine for now.

Yep, semi serious. We hike a lot, and go bike riding as well, so something like this just made sense. I'm tired of fanny packs, and if I just use the left or right side, it adds JUST enough space to carry all my crap.
Plus I'd rather have it than a man purse.

We use mytracks to record out hikes and share them on facebook, and for later reference. Since my tablet gets MUCH better battery than my phone, I tether to the phone, and then use the tablet for the main device.
The main point though, is to have one easy to use carrying device for all my out n about things.. shopping, outdoor stuff, ect.
I was diagnosed diabetic a number of years ago, and that created some very wonky vision issues. I need at least 2 pairs of glasses with me at all times, and the tablet is much easier to read than even the large screen on my galaxy s3.
I've broken more pairs of reading glasses than I can mention pocketing them, and having three pairs of glasses hanging off your t shirt neck looks like hell.
This bag solves all my personal mobile storage issues, without some man purse thing handing off my neck, or having something in my hands at all times.
This holster is awesome You can even carry a gun inside :good:

I'm pretty sure you put a CCW and tablet, ammo. This would be a good Tactical team bag. Some use optic finders for certain situation. For the price this is a nice bag.

They make a more heavy duty deluxe version, but that's more expensive, and has a zipper on the tablet sized pocket, which could potentially scratch it.
Get a fanny pack.

I hate fanny packs. They can't be worn in a car, and you can barley fit a tablet in them. Plus they have metal zippers which can scratch tablets.
I have a fanny pack, and do use it for hiking for carrying emergency and food stuffs, as well as our drink bottles, but that's unacceptable for day to day shopping and such.

I totally would use this, along with my Runnur Bandolier that i already wear to carry my camera and laptop accessories.

OUCH! And I thought Grabbit was pricey!

Belkin - MultiTasker Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition

So I needed a case for my tablet as I was going out on a trip. Amazon didnt have the case I wanted and I was left with no choice but to head to the nearest Best Buy and grab whatever they have. I saw the official Samsung case but at $79.99 its way over priced in my opinion.
I was actually looking for something cheap but this was the only one they had in stock. It costs $49.99 (still a bit expensive for me) but got a quality case that matches the looks of my white tablet.
Its a black leather case that doesnt feel cheap. I find that it gives a more professional look than other cases found in Amazon.

It doesnt have a magnetic cover, so it uses an elastic strap to hold the cover when closed. I thought that this will be annoying at first, but found that it actually works well.
Also take note of the exact cut hole for the camera and flash, and for the spen.
There is soft suede like material inside to protect the screen. It also has 2 slots for business cards or small notes. You can also see a cut out for the charger so you can charge the tablet when the cover is closed.
The tablet is held securely by soft suede grips on all 4 corners. They are an exact fit and does not let the tablet wiggle or move around.
The case also acts as a stand and you can vary the viewing angle to your preference. Notice that the speakers, headphone jack and microsd card slot are free from obstructions.
The power and volume buttons as well as the IR blaster are unobstructed.
There's even a pen holder located on the top if you have an extra stylus.
Lastly, the case can be used as an inverted stand to allow the use of the microUSB port for charging or usb otg.
In summary, it is a decent case that offers good protection without giving a cheap feel. I still find it a bit expensive but it gives of a professional look that I dont mind bringing it everywhere with me especially at work.

Does it obstruct the charging port? I'd like to be able to charge it while using it as a stand.

Yes it will get obstructed if being used as a stand in landscape mode. I find that this is a design flaw with Samsung as the charging port will be blocked no matter what case you are using. I wish they put the charging port to the side. This also makes it difficult for me to attach a USB otg cable for use with my ps3 controller when playing games as most games are in landscape mode.
Edit: op updated. The case can be used as an inverted stand

This looks similar to Belkin case for original 10.1, I had it for over a year, great case.
For charging turn tablet 180 degrees, upside down, in the case, and you can change whole standing.

You are correct. There is a way for the case to act as an inverted stand. Really wish the box came with drawings lol. Will add this to my op.

It absolutely adds substantial heft and thickness.
It is a nice case and it looks pretty good, but the tradeoff is not worth it. It makes the using the tablet a chore...at least it did for me.
I bit the bullet and got the Samsung book cover...IMO it looks better and it add very little heft. Not a perfect case, but I would definitely say it is worth $30 more than the Belkin.

It adds a a little bit of thickness but it doesnt get in the way of useability and portability. I actually now bring my tablet almost everywhere I go.

Yes the Samsung book cover is nice although its out of my budget range. And Best Buy didnt have the white one so I didnt feel like spending $80 on a case that doest match the colour of my tablet. If they had one in white then I might have walked away with that case.

Good point. After using the Samsung case for the past few days, I'm having my doubts about whether this is going to be a case I can stick with.
