[Q] usb storage always full - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

hi, im newbie here.. my usb storage always say full.. i dont move any apps to sd card.. so how do i solve this?? somebody help me. . :crying:

Transfer the big files of your sd card to the external sd card, so you'll have more space on internal sd card.

Swap SD Card. Get an external SD, then put it in. Move all the files from the internal to external sd After that, go to /system and find build.prop. scroll down and find "Change 1 to enable swapping SD cards" and change the 0 to 1. Ensure the system using R/W before editing. Save and reboot.

SD card problems, Help Please!

Hello all, I have a 16 GB sd card (actual 14.83GB) and under Settings - SD card and Phone Storage it says that i have 7.04 GB available...basically half...
The problem is that I have nothing THAT BIG!! I copied the SD card over to my computer and it's only 852 MB...What the hell is going on?
Has anyone had this problem? or does anyone have any ideas as to how to figure out what is taking up so much space?
Help is appreciated, thank you.
Do you apps2sd or apps2ext? Also, by chance is there a folder called: LOST.DIR? Lastly, if you take the card OUT of the evo, put it into an adapter, and check free spaces on your PC what does it say? << Perhaps there's some hidden folders your PC cannot see when you just directly copy the files to your PC.
if you have downloaded a rom or somthing to it, plus music eats memory up badly, i suggest reformatting sd card.
go to settings>sd card & phone storage> unmount sd card> format
make sure you get the files you need off of it. akaics, videos, contacts, apps;etc.
If i helped, hit the thanks button!

Sounds like your card is partitioned.. move your cards over to the computer
Go into recovery
Run partition SD card
Set swap to 0mb
Partition 1 (or whatever its called: main partition ) to full amount of SD card and nothing for ext partition
Hope this was helpful!

just swap it by editing vold.stab. there are so many tutor here. and I think you can find it through uncle Google
If you are using CM9, theres a option to swap internal to external.
Yes. Alpha 6. Setting, storage, menu, storage configuration, then select your choice.

I think you have it backwards! The SD Card on new phones, ie. Samsung GS3, refers to the built-in memory. If you insert a micro SD Card, it will be known as the "Ext SD Card".
Anyone, anyone....

But in wonder if you use the storage setting and tick the use internal memory the sd card and external will be swapped. I guess i'm based on that. So maybe i'm wrong. At least it is almost right

SD card = the built in memory from your phone, but some phone have only small amount of memory so you cannot install games/apps anymore because it's already full.
Ext SD Card = have a bigger amount of memory 8gb,16gb, 32gb, 64gb that means you can install more games/apps than internal.
So, if your phone internal is full, you can use your ext sd card as internal which is bigger and it's called "swap"

Menu > System Settings > Storage
SD card = listed as INTERNAL STORAGE. On our Wonder, this is 1.7GB in size.
External SD card = the microSD card you insert at the back of your phone. It's available in different sizes and classes. Under Storage, it is listed as SD CARD.
I hope this clears it up for you.
AFAIK
SD card= internal phone memory
ext SD card = sd card that you inserted
Just to avoid further confusion when it comes to terminology:
Memory is just like the RAM in your computer. It is where a program's commands are queued for use of the processor.
Storage is just like the hard disk in your computer. It is where the programs/apps are actually stored.
When you go to Menu > Manage Apps,
Memory can be seen only under 'Running' tab. In the case of CM9 Beta 1, it should amount to 352MB total size.
Internal Storage is under the 'Downloaded' and 'All' tab.
'On SD Card' shows you what's on your SD Card.
I hope this helps.

[Q] A question about swapped sd cards in cm11.

Hello, I swapped my sd card in cm11. But when i check the "apps" section in settings. i see the list of the apps that i installed. everything is okay. but in the bottom of the page as you know there is a bar that shows how much more space is available in your phone. But that bar is the bar of phone's internal storage,(1.07gb) So i swapped my sd card too. Do i have to my apps to sd card. I am a bit confused on this. Thanks in advance.

now i have more confusing problem. i put out my sdcard to put some file in it while it is swapped. i put the files and put it back to the phone. now what i see is; internal storage 1gb , usbstorage (my sdcard) , external storage (1.70gb) i tried to reswap again. but the result is same. the apps are currently in internal storage(1gb)
please help me solving this.
note; when i unswap my sd card goes where actually it has to be and so usbstorage too.
but when i swap my ad card doesnt go to sdcard0 goes to usbdisk(1.70gb)
thanks in advance

I've typically found apps to external sd to be unreliable and I also found from experience the more your external sd is used, the greater the drain on battery life. Throw media (music, photos, etc) on your external sd and any roms, backups to limit their impact on your internal sd and also to maintain good battery life.
I agree, moving apps to SD is not such a good idea. Maybe move only obb files from large games to SD card - you can use FolderMount to map SD card folders to internal storage. You can also use it to move i.e. GPS apps maps to SD card etc.
If you are running low on memory I recommend folder mount for moving things to sd card. A lot of people use the internal to external memory switch script but I've not tried that myself
