[Q] Flash a new version without lose Warrant - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello everybody,
How i can flash a new firmware without lose my warant?
Has any tips for this?
I'm really sad by some versions not run certain games and i believe that can solved by flash an new firmware.
Thanks guys.

Flash any firmware from sammobile using odin. As long as you don't install cwm and root you will not lose warranty.

if i flash cwm, i need use TriangleAway right?

Triangle away only resets binary count to 0. It does not change system status from custom to official. You will still lose warranty because of this. Furthermore, if you flash a rom with csc not belonging to original country you also lose warranty. Samsung service has a lot of ways to detect all of these. GOOD LUCK!

[Q] Rooting and warranty

Hello all,
I have a friend that is wanting to uninstall the T-Mobile pre installed CRAPPS. Since the only way to do so is by rooting, he has questioned if rooting his GS2 will void his mfg warranty. Since I Sid not know and do not own a galaxy I figured I would ask here. Thanks in advanced.

Yes it does but if your friend messes up his phone and needs to send it to tmobile I recommend to flash stock on it via Odin and then send it in.

Technically it does, and if Samsung finds out that you did root it, they have the right to not honor the warranty. However, it's relatively easy to keep them from finding out that you rooted it. The basic outline of how to do it is this:
1) Flash this in CWM.
2) Flash stock kernel in CWM.
3) Flash stock ROM in Odin.
The order is important as you should only flash ROMs (and not kernels) through Odin otherwise you will trip a flash counter that Samsung can see. The first link resets the counter if you have already flashed a kernel through Odin.
Rooting will void your warranty; however, as the previous poster said, you can "unroot" and tmobile/samsung wouldn't find out in case you need a warranty repair/replacement.

I was curious about the flash counter because I see that there is a flashable zip to reset it but I've flashed everything I can think of to this phone at least once and never made it say anything but no lol so thanks for the clarification

The stock file you flash in Odin includes the kernel either way. I've never had it trip the flash counter.

UNROOT sgh-t999v

i need to unroot my s3 for warranty purposes but i cannot find proper procedures for the the model sgh-t999v..
i have 2 questions,
1. can i just root a stock rom for sgh-t999 to my sgh-t999v?
2. anyone have the procedures to unroot my sgh-t999v
thanks
Flash a stock rooted Rom. T-Mobile one. That seems to be ok as long as you don't flash a T-Mobile radio.
Not sure if triangle away works on the Canadian version.
Maybe someone else has tried it.
All I had to do to return my last one was flash a stock rooted Rom.
I don't think they check the flash counter

Or you can download the actual fw for your device. You will have to register but its no big deal.

I can see you have a Videotron Galaxy S3. They don't check the flash counter. Let's just say I know this "by experience". As long as it's just rooted and you don't have any custom ROM, you should be fine. But indeed if you can at least hide the SU app it would be a good thing.
You could also perform a factory reset in CWM prior to going to the store, as they will make you do it anyways (and you actually don't want them to see the CWM screen)prior to any exchange. It's company policy.

It's still probably safer to just use Triangle Away to get rid of the flash counter

If your trying to go back to stock, just download the stock rom from sammobile, it has everything you need like stock recovery, and then just flash it via odin.

Thanks!
I'll test it tonight, wouldn't look good to download a 700 mb file at work!
I tried a few firmwares, but for some reason they all said "unsupport dev_type" when trying to use odin to return to stock non root (from stock rooted) In the end, the easiest way to remove root was to just let Kies update my gs3 to Jelly Bean (sgh-t999v). Painless, no data loss, took about 30 minutes with the firmware download.
Good luck
You will likely also want to triangle away. I won't link because it's extremely dangerous software that requires you to read up on the risks.
But that will reset your custom flashes assuming you have some on your counter you can check easily by going into download mode.
i recently lost my stock rom backup.. deleted it off clockworkmod touch by accident, so i only have the cm10.1 nightly i was running when i deleted it.. now i'm assuming i will lose root if i flash the stock firmware through odin? is there another way to get my stock rom back without losing root (and cyanogenmod rom backups)?
hey guys im having trouble with triangle away on my sgh-t999v with the baseband version: T999VVLUFNF1
after I used triangle away and I go into download mode it says:
current binary: Samsung Official
System status: official
qualcomm secureboot:enable
Warranty Bit:1
Bootloader AP SWAEV: 2
Although the current binary and the system status have changed the warranty bit is still at 1
Please help!
There is no way (and never will be a way) to change the Warranty Bit. Sorry

I guess im screwed for warranty..I thought it might be cuz I have a custom kernal installed that triangle away didnt work..but thanks anyway and sorry about posting in multiple threads, im kinda new to this
No problem, thats why i mention it, so you know for the future.
Tecnically, with the warranty bit tripped, the warranty is void. However, i have seen a lot of posts where people sent it in anyway and their warranty was still honored. Its not a guarantee, but there is hope it can be used if needed. The good thing though, is you most likely will never need to use it anyway!

Now I have 2 Questions:
My current Basebandversion is I8160XXLK6 but the latest pre-rooted German Firmware is I8160XXLI2 is that a Problem?
And does the pre-rooted ROM really not increase the Custom Counter? Also the ROM is indentificated by the Counter as official stock rom?

Boot into Download Mode (Press and Hold Home Button+Volume Down and Press Power Button)
1. Shutdown your device
2. Press Power+Home+Volume DOWN
3. Follow instructions on screen (have forgotten the key )
So, if my flash counter is, lets say 3, should i be worried? are we able to reset it somehow? i dont really care about warranty, just asking..
There is no way to reset counter and if it is 1 our more then warranty is voided.

[Q] Revert Back To Stock Help

Hi everyone,
I have a Galaxy S3 LTE from T-Mobile (SGH-T999L) and I rooted it and tried to install a custom rom. However it didn't work and then I installed the stock rom. Now I want to reset the restore counter. With the Triangle Away. However, I though it needs root. So I don't want to root it and then reset the counter. Basically can someone just help me completely restore it to stock so there are no signs of rooting or modding. I need to send it to samsung. Please help!
Thank You! :fingers-crossed:
Youll have to re root. Sorry. Odin flash root66, triangle away, Odin flash official firmware, factory reset.

Thanks for the reply! After I run the triangle away and then odin flash the stock firmware won't that increase the counter to 1?
Counter only increases when you flash non official firmware with odin. (Except for root66). Itll also retrip to 1 if you have a custom recovery or kernel installed. You are talking bout the binary counter, not the warranty bit, right?

Wait. What the warranty bit? Is that something that will stop me from having samsung fix my phone. Because in download mode it says Warranty Bit is 1.
Yup, I'm afraid your warranty is void. You can try to send it in. In the Note3 forums there are several repirts of sending it in with the warranty bit tripped and still getting it serviced or replaced. No guarantees though.

[Q] Flash different region ROM via Odin

My region ROM hasn't received any updates. The only issue I have is the double touch/ghost touch issues which seems to be fixed in the latest US ROM.
If I flash a stock ROM from a different region using Odin, I assume that won't trip the Knox fuse.
Just want to be sure, thanks!

No, flashing an OFFICIAL Samsung rom from a different region will not trip Knox. The only problem is your auto update for a future firmware will not work and you will just have to download it and flash with Odin.

I flashed the stock German updated ROM on my Hong Kong T325. Worked very well. Only issue was Play Store region which wouldn't allow me re-download the Starbucks app. Market Helper took care of that.
Well i tried installing the latest US Rom on my tab and it borked it with the ext4 error. Had to use Kies to get the tab out of download mode and to boot. Guess there is a partitioning issue.

Just a heads up, flashing a different region ROM means you get the KNOX 0x1 so dont do it if you want to keep your warranty. At least now I can feel free to install custom ROMs.
How are you rooting w/O trip the Knox counter?

I have a Swiss/Austria tab, tried to install the ND3 US Rom with Odin and got the ext4 error while flashing. Had to recover to the original Rom using Kies and now I have the 0x1 warranty void flag. I read on S5 forums that flashing other regions Rom on S5 also triggers that flag.
I dont know anymore than that, this is just my own experience.
