pinch to zoom causing reload - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

no matter what browser I use I'm having an issue where when I pinch to zoom in the browser reloads and goes back to unzoomed, tried chrome, opera boat and dolphin, becoming really frustrating, anyone know how to solve this at all or anyone else having this issue

+1 really annoying

Just noticed something, its actually a problem with XDA, every other website is fine, for some reason something is going on here, strange

Same for me...and I'm still on the old Nexus 7 with 4.2.2

I am noticing erratic pinch to zoom in all browsers, web-view and maps.
If I pinch to zoom slowly, it will jump all over the place. Anyone else noticing this?

Edit: If I push uncomfortably hard on the screen, I can mitigate this.

I noticed the same thing on xda. It sure is getting annoying and needs to be fixed soon!

It was doing it to me also on my chrome browser but dolphin browser works perfectly on nexus 7 2

the xda hd premium app acts strange on the new 7 as well

I managed to fix this, in Dolphin, by going to settings>web content, and turning off "open pages in overview".

+1 Only does it when signed in. Tried several settings in an effort to fix. Very annoying, and only happens on xda.
Also, I'm on a galaxy s4. Found this thread trying to find another fix.

maxthon browsers' quick back is amazing... any other browsers have this?

Hi all
I don't know if it's OK to post this here, if not my apologies.
Ive been using maxthon for a while now and maxthon browsers' quick back is amazing... I realized that "going back to the previous page " is a big part of my web browsing experience and the quick back function in maxthon makes this really instant (less then a second to go back)
any other browsers have this? I've tried the more popular ones but none of them seem to pack this feature.
Cheers

[Q] Chrome issues on the new Nexus 7

Is anybody else having issues with Chrome? When I am browsing with several tabs open some of the tabs just freeze up. I can't scroll up or down, and none of the back buttons work. I have to close the app in order to get it working again. It's happening about every ten minutes. I'm just wondering if anybody else is running into this problem...
It's something with this site because it's doing that on my Note II. Other sites appear fine.

Just picked up this Nexus 7 this morning. It does not seem to like the xda site
Yeah, I've been surfing the web with it for a while now. It works great on most sites, but for some reason, my Nexus 7 (2013) and the xda developer site do not get along. The page keeps reloading if I try to scroll down (and pops in a new ad banner each time.)
I can only see the top portion of the page. It seems to mainly happen on the forum list pages. (For instance, if I go to the Nexus 7 (2013) page it list the sub categories. If I try to scroll down it reloads the page. Thats ok because the list is short. But if I go to one of the sub categories, like Q&A and try to scroll down to see the full list, it keeps reloading and putting me back to the top of the list. A few times the window locked up and I had to close and reopen it)

I am trying to not to add to much junk to my N7. I picked this over a Galaxy because its a Nexus device. I'm trying to keep it clean...

My chrome browser has froze up from time to time. I'm on chrome beta now and have been fine.
I too have had issues with the chrome browser and the xda site. It constantly reloads, regardless of what I'm doing. Relieved to know I'm not the only one.
It seems to causing the shockwave plugin to crash. I used to have the same problem with Android Central. Might be an issue with their ads.
I just use the xda app from my phone, ask the website I've tried work well so far on chrome.

Funny, that's when it started for me.

Can confirm that issues start after signing in xda on chrome beta. It was not immediate and then it would just freeze. Clearing data did unfreeze it. The xda app appears to be working fine.

For xda browsing with the N7, try changing the xda layout. Scroll to the bottom of any page, in the bottom left corner there is a pull down menu. Try changing to one of the older/other layouts. Some have said it fixes the xda browsing issue.

Thanks....that worked for me. I am on the 2010 layout. Man that was annoying.
So it appears to be the way xda is done, right? Happening on my S4 as well..
edit: Tabs still freezing for me...not reloading all the time though.

Same here. I still have tabs freezing on me occasionally, but XDA is not reloading itself whenever I scroll down anymore.
If you have more than 1 tab open, you can go to the recent apps screen, touch Chrome, select a different tab before the address and tab bars hide themselves, then close the frozen one without effecting the others.
For reference, the constant refresh problem is also tracked at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382516.

Chrome on my wifi Tab and GSII keeps reloading xda page when I scroll.

Just started happening last night/today, when I log into XDA using chrome on my Galaxy Tab the page keeps reloading when I try to scroll down. I then tried an xda page on my GSII and I get the same result, but on my Win 7 machine chrome on here is fine.
Anyone have any ideas on what is going on?

I am also having the same problem on my 7 inch Tab 2 using Chrome on the XDA site. Also, sometimes when I'm just kind of idle on a post, I get redirected to a porn app site. I think Boink is the name of it.
Edit: I switched to Opera beta browser, and it fixed the problem. Until I made this post, now it also does the same thing. No problem with my Epic Touch though.
I am having the exact same issue. It is refreshing the whole page automatically, and refreshing when I scroll. Completely unusable!
This is happening on my Samsung Note 8.0. Tried both Chrome and Chrome beta with the same results. Please fix this.
The only way I've found to get around this problem is by using the xda app. I've tried countless browsers with no prevail. Opera beta, and One have given the best results though.

Holy crap!!! I thought I was going crazy!! The night this happened a porn site popped up on my Tab while I was browsing xda. Ever since then the site has been unusable on my mobile devices. (just in case anyone is wondering, I have never visited a porn site on my tab, other family members use it so that is a no no)
I also get this popup when on the xda site using my tab: The page at ad.yield.manager.com says: Install Candy Crush Saga Now!
Can anyone from xda confirm there is an issue?
Edit: I also get a page loading error when clicking on the forum tab using chrome on my tab as well.

Same here, never been to a porn site either. Candy Crush crap pops up on me too, as a matter of fact, it popped up while I was typing this post. Sure would be nice if an xda moderator or admin would take notice to this thread. These problems are totally uncalled for.

Likewise: I've got the same thing with CM10.1 and CM10.2 on my Samsung Note 2 and my Barnes & Noble Nook HD+: when browsing xda forums with chrome it continually reloads, but only when I'm logged in to xda. If I logout, it stops reloading. This has been happening for at least a week or two for me.

I've got a Nook HD+ that has the stock B&N OS on it, and I just thought to test it, and I get the same behaviour: chrome keeps reloading xda forums when I'm logged in, but doesn't when I'm not. I've got a Nexus 7, too. Lemme see if I get the same behavior on it....
Yes! Exactly the same. My Nexus 7 is running cm10.1, and chrome reloads xda forums, every second or so, as long as I'm logged into xda. As soon as I log out, it stops reloading. Just for fun, I tried using the old Android "Browser", and it doesn't do that.
So, it appears to be totally independent of Hardware and OS. There's something incompatible between chrome and xda forums, but only when you're logged in to xda.
PS: not *totally* independent of hardware and OS: I don't get that behavior on any of my three Ubuntu 13.04 machines. Seems to be limited to Android-based OS's.
Nice man! I've tried it on my Galaxy Tab2 7.0, and my Epic 4g Touch. The tablet is the only one that reproduces this problem. On the tab, I've tested a few different but browsers, and so far Chrome, Opera, and Firefox have all produced the same result. Just that Opera gave the fewest issues. I deleted the stock browser, so I haven't tried it yet, and still havent tried it while logged out. The only way I have found to avoid any problems is to use the XDA app, but I'm sure there are a few like me, that have had small problems (like attaching pics,) also. Hopefully xda/the mods will find this issue great enough to fix it.

This is really strange. With my WiFi Galaxy Tab 2 I don't have this issue. Firefox is my "primary" browser. Opera is my secondary browser. No problems with either one and I'm running CM10.2. I wonder if I'm not experiencing this issue because I'm an RC? Are there any other RC's, RD's, etc. experiencing this issue? Sorry I've read the thread, just don't feel like rereading it :silly:

I think it's a Chrome-specific issue... Oh, I see that kthomson205 says it happens on Firefox and Opera, too.
I saw in some other thread where somebody created a new xda profile and they didn't experience the problem with the new profile. So, it may be limited to some very specific set of options in your xda profile.
I just reinstalled chrome on my Tab2. Logged in, scrolled thru several pages. Making this post via Chrome
No issues for me.
EDIT::
Replicated the issue by ticking "Request desktop site" in Chrome's menu. Unticked "Request desktop site" and the reloading stopped.

I use chrome on Android and haven't seen that - does it change when you zoom?
It'll change if I zoom, scroll and "mess" around, but I can't reproduce it with the same behaviour one time after another. It's random. And sometimes it don't change at all, it stays unreadable.

Some time ago I used chrome beta and had the same issue. That's why I started to use the stable chrome and everything was fine.
Though, I guess now with the latest stable release on play store the changes in the previous beta got merged.

Is there any way to send feedback for chrome? I left a feedback, but know nobody sees play store feedbacks
Hah, not sure. I've been messing around with line-height CSS settings, I thought perhaps that would fix the issue. I believe it has something to do with re-flow or lack of re-flow. It seems to me to be a bug within Chrome mobile browser since it doesn't show up on desktop. Perhaps if we all submit a "Report an Issue" eventually someone will see it?
@bitpushr I bet we can solve this by enabling or disabling some of the flag at chrome://flags
Don't know wich one though

It seems to be a bug in Chrome out of our control - I was able to recreate the issue but various CSS settings (line-height) did nothing to fix the issue. It has to do with Chrome redraw I believe. Someone reported that they saw the same behavior on other sites so figured this one is above us. Please report the bug to the Chrome team as I think this is the best way to fix this.
