Problem with the home page - About xda-developers.com

Hey,
I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, but the home page has been looking really weird for a few months.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

[Q] Anybody else seeing XDA App constantly Force Closing

Is anyone else having issues with the XDA app?
I installed on my A43 from the market. It launches fine, I can navigate to forums but as soon as I try to view a thread is crashes.
Anyone have thoughts or suggestion on how I can make this App more stable on the A43?
Excactly the same problem here.
Also with the A43IT, can do everything except for opening a thread.
I just installed it, but if you find a fix I would really like to know.
it doesn't remember my login and force closes all the time on my A70 (8GB), most times I can barely even get to login and open a forum before it crashes.
Yep, has been a problem for a while now. There's even a thread about this on this very sub-forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882940
Towards the bottom of the thread is a post by txtmikhail, who has attached an APK for version 0.9 of the app. This one works fine on the archos, just has very few features compared to the newest (1.3.2).

Thanks for the thread, 0.9 works for me.
However, is there a way to figure out why 1.3.2 FC's? It would be nice to understand the crash to see what, if anything, can be done about it.
Secondarily, does anyone know if the tapatalk app works on Archos Gen 8?
...
Don
I am using tapatalk and I never had any problem with it .

Thanks for the input - I may buy it then. (I use it on iOS and it does a good job there)

Links won't open in browser

So when I go to this Site. http://m.nfl.com/ I can't open any links. Unless I hold on a link and hit open in new tab. Same goes with the nfl fantasy app. My buddies evo lte opens them up just fine.
I tried numerous browsers and they are all the same.
Anyone know of a way to fix this?

I am experiencing the same problem on nfl.com. All of the other sites I tried worked fine. I was able to jump from site to site as long as it was not the nfl site. I don't know if this helps or not, but that was my experience.

Hmm. Same issue I'm experiencing. I only have the issues on the mobile nfl. Com Site and their fantasy app. I tried it on other phones like the I phone and evo lte and they have no issues.
I wonder what is causing this?

That is really odd. Let me know if you manage to figure anything out.
I've tried everything. Can't figure out what is causing the issue.

Dont know if this is of any help but I was having issues clicking on the links within the fantasy app(NFL) turned out it was my ad blocker(adfree) I reverted and whala! the NFL fantasy app links worked however app was very laggy. Hopefully this helps if not then disregard I guess!
Exactly the same issue here (found this thread via searching on Google), links won't work on nfl.com unless i long press and select open in a new tab. The only solution that I've found is to disable java script in the browser settings on my S2 and then it works fine.
I'd be interested to know if I can set it just so that java script is disabled on just nfl.com if anyone knows how
I have tried both and came up with the same problem. I've tried messing around with the settings to try and get it working correctly with no results

Thanks for posting your solution! :highfive:

pinch to zoom causing reload

Just noticed something, its actually a problem with XDA, every other website is fine, for some reason something is going on here, strange
Same for me...and I'm still on the old Nexus 7 with 4.2.2
I am noticing erratic pinch to zoom in all browsers, web-view and maps.
If I pinch to zoom slowly, it will jump all over the place. Anyone else noticing this?

It was doing it to me also on my chrome browser but dolphin browser works perfectly on nexus 7 2
the xda hd premium app acts strange on the new 7 as well
I managed to fix this, in Dolphin, by going to settings>web content, and turning off "open pages in overview".
+1 Only does it when signed in. Tried several settings in an effort to fix. Very annoying, and only happens on xda.
Also, I'm on a galaxy s4. Found this thread trying to find another fix.

[Q] Chrome issues on the new Nexus 7

Is anybody else having issues with Chrome? When I am browsing with several tabs open some of the tabs just freeze up. I can't scroll up or down, and none of the back buttons work. I have to close the app in order to get it working again. It's happening about every ten minutes. I'm just wondering if anybody else is running into this problem...
It's something with this site because it's doing that on my Note II. Other sites appear fine.

Just picked up this Nexus 7 this morning. It does not seem to like the xda site
Yeah, I've been surfing the web with it for a while now. It works great on most sites, but for some reason, my Nexus 7 (2013) and the xda developer site do not get along. The page keeps reloading if I try to scroll down (and pops in a new ad banner each time.)
I can only see the top portion of the page. It seems to mainly happen on the forum list pages. (For instance, if I go to the Nexus 7 (2013) page it list the sub categories. If I try to scroll down it reloads the page. Thats ok because the list is short. But if I go to one of the sub categories, like Q&A and try to scroll down to see the full list, it keeps reloading and putting me back to the top of the list. A few times the window locked up and I had to close and reopen it)

My chrome browser has froze up from time to time. I'm on chrome beta now and have been fine.
I too have had issues with the chrome browser and the xda site. It constantly reloads, regardless of what I'm doing. Relieved to know I'm not the only one.
It seems to causing the shockwave plugin to crash. I used to have the same problem with Android Central. Might be an issue with their ads.
I just use the xda app from my phone, ask the website I've tried work well so far on chrome.

Can confirm that issues start after signing in xda on chrome beta. It was not immediate and then it would just freeze. Clearing data did unfreeze it. The xda app appears to be working fine.

I have this issue too and it is independent of having the Xda site up. Its frustrating along with a few other small things that I hope a factory reset will fix.

For xda browsing with the N7, try changing the xda layout. Scroll to the bottom of any page, in the bottom left corner there is a pull down menu. Try changing to one of the older/other layouts. Some have said it fixes the xda browsing issue.

Thanks....that worked for me. I am on the 2010 layout. Man that was annoying.
So it appears to be the way xda is done, right? Happening on my S4 as well..
edit: Tabs still freezing for me...not reloading all the time though.

Same here. I still have tabs freezing on me occasionally, but XDA is not reloading itself whenever I scroll down anymore.
If you have more than 1 tab open, you can go to the recent apps screen, touch Chrome, select a different tab before the address and tab bars hide themselves, then close the frozen one without effecting the others.
For reference, the constant refresh problem is also tracked at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382516.

I use chrome on Android and haven't seen that - does it change when you zoom?
It'll change if I zoom, scroll and "mess" around, but I can't reproduce it with the same behaviour one time after another. It's random. And sometimes it don't change at all, it stays unreadable.

@bitpushr it's something with the latest version from play store. I reverted to 32.0.1700.99 and the issue is gone.

More information:
Some time ago I used chrome beta and had the same issue. That's why I started to use the stable chrome and everything was fine.
Though, I guess now with the latest stable release on play store the changes in the previous beta got merged.
Thanks

Is there any way to send feedback for chrome? I left a feedback, but know nobody sees play store feedbacks
Hah, not sure. I've been messing around with line-height CSS settings, I thought perhaps that would fix the issue. I believe it has something to do with re-flow or lack of re-flow. It seems to me to be a bug within Chrome mobile browser since it doesn't show up on desktop. Perhaps if we all submit a "Report an Issue" eventually someone will see it?
@bitpushr I bet we can solve this by enabling or disabling some of the flag at chrome://flags
Don't know wich one though

It seems to be a bug in Chrome out of our control - I was able to recreate the issue but various CSS settings (line-height) did nothing to fix the issue. It has to do with Chrome redraw I believe. Someone reported that they saw the same behavior on other sites so figured this one is above us. Please report the bug to the Chrome team as I think this is the best way to fix this.
