[Q] Problem while using Chrome on Note 8 - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I am using my Note 8 N5100 since last two months. I mostly use Chrome as my default Internet Browser.
Recently I have updated the chrome app (The update brings a nice feature: full screen navigation). Since then I am having this peculiar problem.
1. A part of the web-page usually getting hidden under the navigation bar. If there is any link in that area, it is nearly impossible to click on that as it is hidden.
2. Tapping exactly on the link is not working always. I have to tap a little lower to select the exact target link. Surprisingly this problem does not exist if I zoom the page and tap on the desired link.
This problem is only with chrome browser. The stock android browser/dolphin/UC works fine.

This is my first week with my new brown note 8.0 and I noticed the same issue. In just went back to stock browser and will wait for next up date for chrome and hope it fixes it.

Same issue as well.

Seems to be fixed in the latest Chrome Beta.

I have the same issue.
I think your problems 1 and 2 are the same problem.
The link you touched is in the correct place, but the page displays a little bit higher.

Search is your friend:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343712
This is a known issue and they are working on it.

I'm also having this issue, hopefully it'll get fixed soon

Here's a workaround using Xposed Framework:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43569866&postcount=17

Actually, just download the Chrome BETA which was refreshed this past Thursday. It fixes the issues you describe and works extremely well on my Note 8..

Issues with Latest Chrome Beta

Hi All,
I received the latest update for the Chrome Beta on my GNexus, and it now seems to have a big issue with the wikipedia mobile site.
If you got to a page that has a table at the top, for instance:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/Helium
If you then try to scroll the page, it refuses to move the page unless you touch the screen outside of the top table.
I have submitted a bug report to Google, but I was wondering if anyone else had found the same issue?
yup I see what you mean, it's happening on mine too....I needed to touch on the tables edge or outside it that is in order to scroll the page
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Same here. It has happened to me only with wikipedia mobile site. Everything's going great with other sites until now...
Same for me, only on facebook though

How did you get the latest update? I don't think I got mine, and it's not showing up as needing to update on the Play Market.
I have version 18.01025.133

You probably got auto-updated. 18.0.1025.133 is the latest when looking in the "about Chrome" tab in the settings menu.
Ah, thanks.
And I too notice this issue with Wiki. The heck...
Mine as well. Much slower load times as well. Very disappointing update.
I have an issue more with the loading of pages. Before, if I scrolled down, it would already have the entire page loaded. Now, if I scroll down, I tend to get a teal colored bottom half covering whatever parts of the page weren't visible, as if it's loading the page as I scroll.
i cant even get my latest google chrome to load, i keep getting force closes right as i open it.
Not work with low dpi, you need to set 240 dpi. Hope an update coming soon for low dpi :-(
i thought i was the only on with this problem
Google chrome .16. It works fine. There is a kink in the latest chrome and aokp and cm9 roms

Yw.
Thanks if I helped

Its disappointing chrome takes a good 5 seconds or so to load when you first start it up.
this is fixed now (by wikipedia).
edit: but the redirection to wikipedia's mobile site (en.m.wikipedial) is buggy now ...
edit2: cleared my cache (for the first time) and the problem is gone.

help with calibration

I started to notice where I tap on the screen isn't where the Note registers even with the pen. It doesn't do this all the time but when I'm browsing, I would end up "clicking" on the wrong link. When I'm using adobe reader, the pen works great and accurate when I'm highlighting and underlining. Works fine in candy crush. It's when it comes to a busy screen and need to be accurate as to where I "click", the Note just give me attitude. Is this a defective item? Seems worse on landscape too.
HELP!!!
I noticed such inaccuracy with chrome after last update While working just fine with any app. I think its app dependent

Hum..... I think you're right. Went to craigslist on stock broker and it was pinpoint accurate. Bummer... I like using chrome too. Hope they fix this issue.
I have the same problem with Chrome on the AT&T Note 8.0. It also won't scale websites correctly, and the upper toolbar covers the tops of the website, where there are usually buttons for the site. (home, logout, etc.)

It should be fixed in the beta version of chrome (android).
Here is a link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chrome.beta&hl=en
Chrome for Android is a joke. Google should be ashamed of that mess. It's amazing that OEMs stock browser and even the AOSP browser puts Chrome to shame. Google really needs to double down on it.
Are you using a cover that has a magnet? if so try to pull it out off the cover and try again. I notice a difference after taking it out from my casing(I didn't know it could cause this problem) I also didnt know that there is no option to calibrate where as my previous palm pilots and treo. Wish they could have added that option to calibrate.
Chrome's new hide the tabbar behaviour is responsible for the offset issue in Chrome, and is fixed in Chrome 29 (currently in beta).
In other apps I have experienced no offset or accuracy issue. I believe there's a guide in the forum about tuning the S-Pen by popping the button cover off and monkeying.

[Q] Is anyone else experiencing Dolphin Browser locking up on Note 3?

Hey guys and gals,
I love Dolphin Browser and have been using it since I entered the world of Android with an S3 and then a Note 2. I switched to a Note 3 a few weeks ago and I've been having really strange issues with Dolphin. It's getting to the point where it's unusable. I've wiped cached, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated to latest Flash apk, so I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of. I'm hoping someone can help or at least tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this.
When I open Dolphin, I can click through one or two links. I don't know exactly what causes this, but soon after, I press a link and the browser freezes. I can open new tabs and zoom in an out of the tabs that are currently open, but the status bar does nothing, I cannot interact with any links/images/anything on the loaded pages, and nothing else loads. I have to close the app and wait at least 15 min, or wipe the cache and open the app again. Same thing happens every time.
It's extremely weird and very annoying. I love the app but will have to switch if I cannot fix this issue.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Do you know how to fix it?

Great, hope to see it fixed soon. Since I can guess you're a Dolphin user, what secondary browser do you recommend/think is the best? I love how Dolphin renders webpages and haven't found another that does quite as well (IMO).

I switch between Chrome and Stock depending on what i'm doing. Both have benefits
I use naked browser pro, aosp browser and chrome. Those are my favorites in that order.

I have no problems with Dolphin at all and that's all I use. ...I need more info to help. .. What rom? Did you restore data? Etc

I use Dolphin and I'm not seeing exactly what you are but it the browser is getting progressively annoying. What I'm seeing are pages taking forever to load. I click a link, the screen goes white...wait...wait....wait....get tired of waiting so I push 'stop' and then the page displays immediately. It's like it wants to pre-load the entire page before it shows anything at all, then it all comes up at once. Dolphin on my N4 recently developed this same behavior. If they don't get their stuff together I'll be ditching it.
My favorite browser by far and wide is Firefox. I used to use Dolphin before FF Mobile was stable enough for full time use but these days FF wipes the floor with Dolphin in terms of features. Firefox has an extensive addon collection for adblock, useragent switching, full screen, etc. plus it supports Flash Player and html5 videos perfectly. If you're not happy with stock and Chrome definitely try Firefox!

Have you tried to send a bug report to Dolphin Team?
You can send a detailed report in Dolphin Settings > Help > Send Feedback > Not responding.
I often do this to make Dolphin realize my issue and fix it.
You should try it !

[Q] Screen Flickering while Typing

All the Devs and Experience people out there. Need Urgent Support.
I need your help, because I am facing with a very irritating problem on my new Note 3 Neo which I just bought 2 days back. I noticed that I am having a screen flicker while SWIPING (Not Typing) and only swiping in apps, various apps like whatsapp, sms & other msging apps.
The screen just flickers (moves towards right & comes back) in a nano micro second. It is so fast that, with a blink of an eye, it can be missed.
I need your guidance on how to resolve this issue? Is it a Hardware issue or a Software Problem? Can it be repaired via OTA Update or kitkat update which is coming through very soon hopefully.
Shall I go to the Store from where I just bought or to service centre??

I noticed that this happened in my Note 3 neo only if I am using the action memo in the background ,
such as if I want to copy a name and number from action memo to contacts , but typing works without any flickering in any app without
action memo .
I hope that helps you
Story of my Life with Note 3 Neo
Apologies for posting it late here.
After the purchase of my new NOTE 3 Neo, when i noticed this, I couldnt resist coz the problem just increased tremendously after using it with SWYPE keyboard. So couldnt tolerate it and went to Samsung Customer Care after 3 days. There I showed them the problem, they formatted the system, installed a new one, and then called me, and then also i showed them the same problem. They got convinced easily that the problem was there so they gave me a DOA, which is the Samsung policy to change the faulty product within 7 days of purchase.
So got a new NOTE 3 Neo phone again from the same store and after opening the same, I found the same problem there also. :crying:
Hence came to know that either the problem is in that particular lot, or the OS (v 4.3)
I really wish if someone can really try Swype keyboard or Samsung Swipe feature of the keyboard on SMS or WhatsApp , and let me know if you are also facing the same issue. Use it efficiently for while, then you come to know.
NOTE: Please make sure you SWIPE / SWYPE, and not TYPE.
@arunkareer
I'm facing same issue and just living with it. It seems like a firmware glitch or bug or some issue with Samsung keyboard itself. May be an update for keyboard or Samsung update should fix it ?
I found this update for note 3 keyboard
I wish this can help solving this issue .
Note : You have to restart the phone after installation .

Chrome is not full screen

When I open chrome beta it is not full screen. How do it get it to its usual full size?
Use chrome.

I'm going to jump on this thread while it's still fresh, if nobody minds.
I just switched my Nexus 5 from CM11 to PA4.6b6 two days ago, and this is the only remaining issue. I launched Chrome Beta the first time, and it showed up as a small, greyed window in the middle of my screen. Eff that, I said, and looked for advice on the internet. I found this thread, installed Chrome itself, launched that and was pleased to see it occupy the full screen (not immersively, mind you).
I just tapped my Chrome shortcut again moments ago to find that it was now opening in that little, greyed out window. Wtf, I wondered. I tried Beta. Same thing. I closed both windows by tapping the home nav, and then i opened Chrome again from the recent apps list. Et voila, it's back to full size.
My questions are "wtf?", "how do I make it just use the available real estate and not open in that terrible tiny dark window?", and "should I file a JIRA issue for this? Is this srsly expected behavior?"
I love the ROM, I love the work you guys do, and I wanna be helpful, so let me know if there's anything else I can provide or tell you about my experience.
Thank you!
Well, Google pushed their beta changes to stable. The problem is a flag that Google set that launches chrome in windowed mode...
We are trying to figure out a way around it but with work heavy on lollipop right now, kitkat may fall by the wayside.
The temporary solution is to go back to an older version of chrome.
#stayparanoid
I can get behind the idea of work being heavy on Lollipop, so no worries there. I'll be seriously excited to see new builds based on 5.0, so work away! I presume there's no ETA on that as of yet, right?
No EtA
#stayparanoid
Workaround:
Open Chrome
Hit Home
Relaunch chrome from recent apps
As long as Chrome isn't killed, it will remain full screen.
I also got a backup from Chrome v38.
Will share on request.
