[Q] Help configuring SIP in CM 10.1 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm trying to configure a SIP server with the built in SIP client in CM 10.1.
I am using two different servers, one from simonics and one from pbxes.
Both are configured correctly, and can make outgoing calls as long as the "Receive Incoming Calls" box is checked.
For the simonics server, it will not make outgoing calls until I check the Receive Incoming Calls box. Afterwards, I can uncheck it and it'll let me make calls for a little while before needing to be rechecked again.
The pbxes server doesn't allow me to make outgoing calls unless Receive Incoming Calls is checked and remains checked.
In both cases, I have played with all the settings, TCP vs UDP, 5060 vs 5070, and both options under "Send keep-alive" (Automatic or Always) doesn't fix anything.
How do I fix this so that I don't have to check Receive Incoming Calls to make outgoing calls with CM 10.1's SIP?

using SMS notifications to activate ActiveSync?

I would like to develop an application which listens for incoming SMS, verify which ones are email notifications and automatically starts Activesync to retrieve emails, synchronize calendar and so on.
Is this feasible?
I have heard that you can't use the sms API as the interface is stolen by the 'phone edition' bit and you have to use the CE MAPI interface instead, working on SMS once they have been stored in the Inbox.
Any experience with this? Code bits?
Thanks, ciao,

SMS notifications
You can use the RIL interface to get notification of about anything to do with the GSM part. However, it is not very well documented. If you go to the URL below you'll find a small app that will display notifications for incoming SMS messages and incoming SMS status reports.
However the message part is still encoded! There are some library calls that can decode the message, but I have not yet figured it out.

Outgoing SMS black list

Recently I've sent accidently an SMS to a wrong person from my Contacts.
Is there any application that would allow me to create an outgoing SMS "black list" which would prevent me (or my phone), accidently or not, to send an SMS to this person?
Thnx
There's a few call blockers that will do sms but not sure about outgoing. Why not just delete the contact? Or change the name to make it less likely to call/sms by mistake?

setting up email

I am trying to set up my EVO to automaticly retreive my email but I have no success, can anyone help me with it
I have Optonline
what do I use 1. Exchange ActiveSync
2. POP3/IMAP
the first I had no success
with IMAP I was only succesfull to send out email but not retreive??
Your provider has to support POP3 or IMAP (recommended) for incoming mail and SMTP for outgoing. Call them to see if they do and to get specific details. If you want them to walk you through it, they should be able to tell you what to put where. Make sure you use the "Mail" app and not the "GMail" app for this, or just get K9. Good luck!

I have sprint and optonline, when you wrote provider, u meant mobile provider or email provider?
He meant email provider. Here's the information you need from them (usually you can find this online--Google's your friend)
Incoming/Outgoing Settings:
1. User Name
2. Password
3. Incoming Server
4. Security Settings (if applicable)
5. Port number
I like to use IMAP over pop3 because it reads the items and leaves the items on the server so I have the same things between my phone and outlook. Pop3 will download the mail to your phone.
Edit:
I just did a quick search and found this.
incoming server mailhost.optonline.net with port address of 110
outgoing mailhost.optonline.net with port address at 587
By the looks of it, I think the outgoing port 587 is usually associated with SSL, so make sure that is selected in the drop down menu. If not, just change it back to none.
Edit2:
If those don't work, try these directly from their site:

Those may or maynot work since you are coming from a mobile platform. I use Charter and you cannot get to your email unless you are connected to their network or you connect to their mobile servers.

Forward SMS to my phone

I can forward the incoming calls to other phone. How can I forward incoming SMS to other phone?
Both voice and SMS forwarding are network functions. And very few networks implement SMS forwarding. You might try contacting your provider and ask if they do, but chances are slim.
As an alternative, you may install a SMS app with SMS forwarding capability - something like "Auto SMS (Autoresponder)" or similar. You'll be paying for each message that gets resent, unless you're on a plan with free SMS.
If you're connected to an Exchange email server you can also sync SMS with email.
You can find these kinds of apps on the market. As the last poster mentioned, you need an sms forwarder. I use sms backup which after 1 minute of receiving a message it backs up the message onto my gmail account under a label of my choosing. You mark them as read or unread. You have a lot of possibilities when it comes to just saving or forwarding your messages. But if you want to be able to respond, then that's more difficult. You can forward the sms to another phone, but responding with the same number is a trickier subject!

Hmmm, I've been carrying two phones until I port my number from T-Mobile to O2.... might have to look into these SMS forwarding apps
