Hi. While awaiting the arrival of my N7 2nd Gen, I've had time to peruse the XDA forums to find options for accessories. Ideally, I want a case for the new tablet, but not just any case. I have an iPad 3 and a N7 1st Gen and both have cases that follow the same design. I owned the iPad 3 first and it was the first time I had went shopping for a tablet case. I had an ASUS Transformer prior to that, but the keyboard dock served that purpose.
When shopping for a case for the iPad, there was a plethora of options to go with. Many different designs serving different needs but all were intended to fulfill a single purpose; that being to protect the tablet. As I shopped, I noticed one design element that predominated most of the cases. Virtually all cases employed a design that had the portion of the case that makes contact with the screen of the device also serve as the portion of the case that makes contact with the surface you place the device on while it is opened and in use. Even the official smart cover from Apple performed this way.
This is where I have a problem. Why would you want the portion of the case that makes contact with the most important part of a tactile screen to also make contact with every surface you rest the device on while you're using it? I don't care how careful you are with regard to where you place the device, there will be debris (e.g., dust/sand, food/fluids, etc.) that will transfer to the cover which will then transfer to the screen of your device (when closed). There is where I have a problem. I see the cases that other people use (the ones where the cover touches the screen and forms the base while open) and all of them look like they've been through the wringer. On some devices with these cases, you can see foreign matter embedded in the case and scratches on the screen where contact is made when the case is closed.
I don't like screen protectors because to me, anything that comes between me and the screen on a tablet muddies the experience. Without a screen protector, I need a case that ideally protects the screen. After a lot of digging, I found the perfect solution. Specifically, this one:

Why is it perfect? Here's my take:
1. Sturdy design. I don't like floppy cases because they don't really seem to protect against accidental knocks and dings.
2. Necessary cut-outs. All areas that need to be open (e.g., plugs, buttons, etc.) are easily accessed.
3. Built-in magnets for sleeping/waking the device.
4. UNBLOCKED speaker grills. Ugh! I hate cases that cover the speaker grills. Tablets have enough issues with sound.
5. Opens in a way that the portion that touches the screen doesn't make contact with the surface it rests on. *
* This is the most important aspect. When you open the case and set it up in angled view, the cloth interior is facing up. If you continue to collapse it down so that the tablet is flush with the surface you have it on, again, the cloth screen side is now against the back of the tablet.
I've seen posts from some people that object to having to un-clip two corners of the case to set the angled view every time they set up for that usage, but I honestly haven't seen this as that troublesome. After using the case for over a year, it still pops out easily, yet still stays in place when closed. For the peace of mind that the screen is being protected from exposure to the same material the tablet rested on before you closed it up, it's a no-brainer for me.
When I purchased my N7 1st Gen, I was pleased to find the exact same case in N7 form:

Now, I'm getting the N7 2nd Gen and my case choice is obvious. While both previous cases were from Poetic, I'm not married to the brand. Other manufacturers have come out with similar cases to the ones I bought. I've seen one from Poetic for the N7 2nd Gen, but I'm waiting for the other manufacturers to catch up and show their versions.
I know everyone has different tastes and different cases serve different needs. Still, if the design has the potential of damaging the most important part of the device, then I can't see any pluses trumping that.

Moko has a featherlight case that is like .99 cents and comes in a bunch of colors. Poetic also has their Slimline case. Check the threads.
I've had the Poetic Slimline for my OG N7 and while it felt good and had all the right features, the faux leather material was horrible and would shred to part at the creases just after a few weeks. FORTUNATELY they have a 3 year warranty and a simple email to Poetic and they would ship me out a whole new case.
This round with the New N7, I opted for the Moko. Not only was it cheaper (!) but also said that the material is softer.
I don't know why they just don't use a rubber TPU type material instead of this fake leather crap.
BUT at the end of the day, I do have a Portenzo Hard Book case being shipped that was super awesome on my OG N7. I had my OG N7 stolen twice with the Poetic Slimline case on (iPad Mini release day and again like a month later). With the Hardbook case, it also makes it look less like a tablet.

Shortly after picking up my HTC Aria back in June, I decided to go with a cheapie HD Mini flip case that I wrote about here:

I was quite prescient about the belt clip. Shortly after writing that post, the belt clip spring broke. I've been lugging my phone around sans clip, in the same case, ever since.
It's been a decent case for me. But one other slightly annoying aspect of it (in addition to the others I mentioned), was that wherever the case bordered the screen, it also tended to interfere with elements of the interface which were located along the edges of the screen.
I recently received an e-mail from 'cases.com' about their Black Friday sale (the coupon code MIGHT still be valid: blackfriday), so I thought I'd see if they had any new Aria cases.
That's when I discovered (and decided to order) the Piel Frama iMagnum flip case:

It just came today, and I suspect I'll be even happier with this case than I was the cheapie.
For starters, the entire screen of my Aria is exposed when the case is open, since the phone is held in (quite ably) by two stiff leather side-panels. While this may ultimately increase the possibility of damage should I ever drop the phone while using it, it also provides full access to the screen.
This design also avoids one of the other flaws of my old case: the sensor suite is no longer blocked.
When the case is closed, it adds a little more bulk to the phone than my old case did, but not nearly enough to make it a drawback. You can definitely tell the difference in quality between the two cases, with the Piel Frama case consisting of a much thicker (real) leather. Overall it just feels much more solid.
The belt clip itself also seems to have a better design than the clip on my old case did. The connector on the case is positioned a little higher, so the top of the case is level with the top of my belt when I'm wearing it (the old case tended to stick up an inch or two, digging into my hip whenever I sat down). And instead of a cheap spring, the mechanism in this clip is a single piece of flexible metal.
In the end I had to pay quite a bit more for a higher quality case. But I also suspect that this one will give me few problems down the road.

Yep. More than I wanted to spend, in fact.
But I was reaching the absolute edge of sanity with the case that I had. I actually went through two different clips with it (both broke). And I was starting to get sick of having to shift my phone in the case, whenever I wanted to type a 'P' (or any other letter that appears on the edges of the screen).

This case is absolutely phenomenal.
Feels like you're holding a dense leather rectangle of quality.
-Fit and finish is perfection
-Thing is completey rigid (no twist or slop-- unlike those bezel-covering slide-in-pocket flip cases)
- Stand is solid and stable
- The clasp mechanism feels fantastic (really, when this thing is closed, it feels locked down).
- Protects the screen, back plastic, and corners. Seems to offer about as much shock/crush/drop protection as any case I've ever seen, yet adds very little in the way of bulk and mass.
- Access to all ports/plugs
Can't exaggerate how much I love this case. Protection factor aside, the thing simply makes me like using my table more.

Depending on height of fall and hardness of contact surface, I'm not sure I'd bet on a pane of glass in any case, but the Blurex's corner-clips do hold the tablet with some serious authority. It'd take some funky, but not impossible, physics to pop it out.
The bumper case you linked to looks like what I had in mind before going for the Blurex offering. I figured the small form factor made the A100 more like a reach-for-it-and-go phonelet than a full tablet, so I wanted a hard, snap case with no flap to contend with. When using the tablet in portrait, I'll occasionally get annoyed with the folded-back flap, but the more complete protection and premium/professional appearance/feel of the Blurex case more than make up for it.
I received the Blurex case mentioned by the OP yesterday.
Quite frankly, I have not seen any case fit any device better.
It significantly reduces the amount of bulk the "OEM" case has;
Because it basically has *no* sides, it does not have the OEM case's problem of ports not lining up quite right; and
Its material seems higher quality and is easier to grip in my opinion.
Also, under current (not Black Friday) pricing, it costs only half as much.

I received the blurex case today, ordered based on what I read here.
It does seem well-made and I very much like that it adds very little to the dimensions and weight of the A100.
At first the clasp that closes the cover annoyed me when holding it open in portrait to read like a book. (I use Kindle frequently.) The sharp corner dug into the side of my finger.
Then I got out a nail file and just lightly softened the one corner and that pretty much took care of the problem.
As a result, the rounded clasp actually works as a finger hold to grasp the tablet in one hand without putting my thumb on the screen. (See photos.)
Overall, it's a pretty good addition.
I ordered mine last night. I hate the actual case that acer puts out. Cant wait for this one to come in...
My BluRex case arrived yesterday, and it's even smaller than I expected. It a very nicely made case (especially for the price), and fits like a really tight glove (insert OJ joke here). My only concern is that the clip that holds the cover closed might wear through the finish on the side of the tablet over time. Otherwise, great case! Highly recommended!

Blurex was out of stock, but stumbled across this at Bureau En Gros.
Acer Portfolio, has a carbon finish and similar looking to the Blurex though not as slim as the Blurex.
All the ports and camera holes fit great. This model doesn't have a smell that i've read in other threads. It doubles as a stand too.
Cover holds down by a magnet, so no intrusive or wailing clasp.

Has anyone used a ruggedized case? I bring my tablet EVERYWHERE and need something decent to protect it and was thinking about the Gumdrop cases. Any suggestions?
I use the Gform Extreme Sleeve 2 for extra protection. It says it fits the Ipad but I can confirm that it will fit the galaxy tab even with the stock book case on it. This is the best combination of protection and comfortable usability I have found.
It is kinda spendy but I bought both cases on ebay for less than retail and the samsung book case is definitely not necessary.

Always been curious about these cases that look like tires. Is there any advantage to this over an equally-thick material without the pattern? It seems to me like the tread on this would actually make it more likely to be damaged, not less. There's thin points (for puncture or pressure), and its easier to bend. And though there's probably a small difference in weight (though minimal; the heavier outer coating is larger than if it was flat), I can't imagine the tread makes it more fun to put into or take out of a bag. I've never used one though so I'm curious if there's something I'm not considering.

There's something you've not considered. I think the design helps with the shock displacement. Maybe not, but it's what I figure.
Have you watched the videos? This is one a$$ saving case. LOL
If you're as tough on your tab as in the videos you crazy, but then again, stranger sh!t has happened on accident.

I have one and love it. I got one for my daughter's kindle, too. It does have a built in screen protector but I didn't install it for my case (affects screen responsiveness and feels crappy). The screen is protected from being recessed behind protruding, reinforced edges, so if i drop it it won't break anyway. Also, the case prevents accidentally hitting the power button, which used to drive me crazy. I take my tab to work everyday...get lots of compliments on the case. The material and ridges let me sit it on my couch or lap and not slide out of position. They also feel nice in the hands. I have an otterbox defender case for my evo4g. That's a great case, but I recommend this grippier type of material instead for a tablet. My phone case lets me slide in and out of my pocket easily, but i want traction with my tablet case. I also tried one of those folding tablet cases, but they seem ridiculous to me.
I have the white gumdrop case for my tab 10.1. As far as protection it is great. The corners are reinforced and it has a built in screen protector. You will have no doubt that your tab is very well protected inside this case. It also offers a LOT more grip and security in your hands. The only downside it that is easily doubles the thickness and weight of your tab. With this case on you can easily drop, throw, bang etc.. without even a thought of damaging your tab.

I got a gumdrop case shortly after I got my tab 10.1, Love it. The silicon cover is very thick especially on the corners, the frame is solid and fits on the tab well, the cover and frame fit together very solid, and the screen protector is actually pretty good. It makes the whole setup look very clean, and my touchscreen is still very responsive with the gumdrop screen protector AND a static adhesive screen protector on.

Sorry for the delay, I am working on my capstone project for an EE degree and I have not been on the internets for fun since sunday.
I cannot say I would be able to point out any major advantages between the current design and one that is equally thick throughout, I would probably guess weight and cost. I believe the case is made of a fancy foam that stiffens on impact and does not seem like there is much of an outer coating over the foam but I have not yet cut into mine to find out.
The "tread" really has not caused me any problems getting this into or out of my backpack. The case is not frictiony like rubber but not so slippery that I am afraid to drop it when I carry it around either. I would say they found a happy medium between fly paper and a greased watermelon.
Overall I am very happy with this case and I recommend it to anyone who needs some heavy duty protection. I am even considering buying one for my laptop!

I got my Tab last Fall and a Samsung Book Case shortly afterward. I had looked at the Gumdrop case and thought it'd be good to have, but didn't pull the trigger. That was a big mistake.
My son decided to grab the Tab from the kitchen counter & play games on it in the family room, but the dropped it on the tile floor before he got to the couch. I ended up with a $200 repair bill for a new screen. Needless to say, I had a Gumdrop waiting to be put on the tablet as soon as the repair was complete. This thing feels sturdy & strong. I just wish I had bought the case when I first saw it. I'd be $150 richer.
Got my gumdrop last week and really like it wasn't to sure bout the screen protector at first but its very responsive. Def worth the $.

I ordered one yesterday and then saw this thread. I checked this forum for case info before but didn't see the gumdrop case mentioned. I found it googling rubber corners galaxy tab 10.1.
Great to see positive reviews. Two concerns I have are:
- could the rubber case interfere with the wifi antenna?
- could the battery/electronics get too hot in it under normal conditions?
I notice that when you put your hand on the corner near the power button, the back and front get warm with no case. I imagine the glass acts as a heatsink. If you feel around the warm corner it doesn't spread to the rest of the glass. When I get the case I'll see if the warm area seems bigger.
In the manual it recs use in the temp range O-45c. I searched to see if 10.1's have overheating issues and I see anything to indicate that.
I've had the Gumdrop case on my Tab for about two months now & I've never had overheating issues.

I just read somewhere that someone said that a silicone cover on their phone caused wifi loss, but others tested theirs and didn't have any loss.
I haven't noticed a decrease in my wifi reception. It works the same at home, the office, & in public spots like the coffee shop.
I don't think you'll notice any negative issues with the case other than added bulk & weight. Those are a fair trade for the better protection you'll get from the case.
Great, I'll do a proper test when I get it. I should try it with my Samsung Book Cover case as well.
I figure the thickness and security of it might make it easier to hold for long periods despite the weight. I like the idea of being able to grip it by the raised edge while carrying it, and I think I'll now have the confidence to bring it places and let other ppl actually play with it!
It looks like it might even survive a fall down stairs which even iBallz wouldn't

Which Gumdrop case fits your P7500? They don't list it on the site and it would suck to get a case and the buttons don't line up. Everywhere I look there seems to be a hundred different model #s (for each carrier, 4G and wifi only etc) and nothing seems to list which models are similar.
I want to chime in here with nothing more than +1 to everything positive mentioned here and No, I haven't had any of the problems asked about in this thread either.
The kind people at Poetic have given me the opportunity to write a review for two of their cases. I must say, I’m pretty impressed. But if you know Poetic and the quality of their products then you know that’s not anything new. Let’s start with the Revolution Series, shall we?

The front piece is made of plastic and has a built in screen protector. It sort of snaps onto the front of the phone and leaves the back exposed. And then there is the back piece that brings it all together. This piece is a TPU rubber that actually overlaps the front piece on the side of the phone. This brings the whole thing together in a nice protective package that is actually pretty easy on the eyes. The closest point of reference for this would be an Otterbox style case, but this is not… it’s Poetic. And it’s beautiful.
The quality of this case is pretty stellar to be honest. It’s not cheaply made by any means and I didn’t fear for my phone while this case was on it. While I did not do a drop test, I’m pretty confident this case would protect the phone for nearly any everyday drop. Obviously no one WANTS to drop their phone, but this case could take it if you did.
Opinion: The only improvement that I could see this case needing is the built in screen protector. Due to the type of plastic used on it, it gives a weird rainbow effect on parts of the screen. For most this won’t be a bother. Especially since you can’t see it while the screen is on. If you need an inexpensive, yet quality built rugged case, this will do the trick. It looks great on the phone and it feels great in the hand. Additionally, you can be confident your investment is protected, should you accidentally drop your phone.
And now the Affinity Series case… I am a little biased about this case, and you’ll see why in the photos attached.

This is a one piece, hard TPU case that sort of snaps onto the phone. It’s very minimalist but still gets the job done at protecting your investment. I actually had a friend look at the phone with this case on it and he said, “Damn… This looks like it was designed to come on this phone from the factory.” Can we say OEM quality here?! The sides of the case are ribbed to prevent accidental slipping out of your hand. The case itself is 80-90% clear hard plastic with black accents. The black accents are really what pulls the design together on this case. The accents are raised ever so slightly from the clear to prevent it from becoming scratched and yes, it does an excellent job at that.
The designed quality on this case is like none other I’ve used. It is literally as if the mold is poured on the device and then peeled off. I doubt it’s done that way, but it is that snug and form fitting. That to me is quite refreshing in a world of cheaply made name brand knockoffs.
Opinion: I doubt this case will protect a device this large from a high drop. That’s not any fault of the case, but rather the large phone paired with a minimalist form fitting case. However, if you are like me and want something that will protect it from the everyday toss it on the table scenario, then this is for you. Very thin design that to me actually complements the phone’s design and the phone compliments the case design. I agree with what my friend said… It’s as if this case were designed specifically for this phone to be sold as a pair.
Final Thoughts: Both of these cases are great products. And yet again, Poetic knocks it out of the park with their innovative design and actually building a case around the phone so that they sort of meld as one unit. (That's an opinion of course) Hats off to you Poetic. I work in both Facilities and IT, and these cases are a godsend. Simply put… Poetic designs their cases with the user in mind. And to me, that’s everything. I highly recommend these cases to anyone!

Well I have to say that the quality of the Revolution case isn't bad, but it defiantly isn't as nice as the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro that I had for mu Note 7. I decided to return the Revolution, I personally didn't feel like it would survive a drop if one should occur. I ended up with a Otterbox Defender, I think that I'm one of the few that likes how much bulk it adds to the phone.
My side by sides of those two cases... As you can see, the clear TPU on the Affinity has started turning yellowish after only a few days of use. If you go with the Affinity, I recommend getting the black TPU. I ordered the clear because it was the only one that would've arrived the same day my phone did.

For most this won’t be a bother. Especially since you can’t see it while the screen is on. If you need an inexpensive, yet quality built rugged case, this will do the trick. It looks great on the phone and it feels great in the hand. Additionally, you can be confident your investment is protected, should you accidentally drop your phone.
And now the Affinity Series case… I am a little biased about this case, and you’ll see why in the photos attached.

This is a one piece, hard TPU case that sort of snaps onto the phone. It’s very minimalist but still gets the job done at protecting your investment. I actually had a friend look at the phone with this case on it and he said, “Damn… This looks like it was designed to come on this phone from the factory.” Can we say OEM quality here?! The sides of the case are ribbed to prevent accidental slipping out of your hand. The case itself is 80-90% clear hard plastic with black accents. The black accents are really what pulls the design together on this case. The accents are raised ever so slightly from the clear to prevent it from becoming scratched and yes, it does an excellent job at that.
The designed quality on this case is like none other I’ve used. It is literally as if the mold is poured on the device and then peeled off. I doubt it’s done that way, but it is that snug and form fitting. That to me is quite refreshing in a world of cheaply made name brand knockoffs.
Opinion: I doubt this case will protect a device this large from a high drop. That’s not any fault of the case, but rather the large phone paired with a minimalist form fitting case. However, if you are like me and want something that will protect it from the everyday toss it on the table scenario, then this is for you. Very thin design that to me actually complements the phone’s design and the phone compliments the case design. I agree with what my friend said… It’s as if this case were designed specifically for this phone to be sold as a pair.
Final Thoughts: Both of these cases are great products. And yet again, Poetic knocks it out of the park with their innovative design and actually building a case around the phone so that they sort of meld as one unit. (That's an opinion of course) Hats off to you Poetic. I work in both Facilities and IT, and these cases are a godsend. Simply put… Poetic designs their cases with the user in mind. And to me, that’s everything. I highly recommend these cases to anyone!

The front piece is made of plastic and has a built in screen protector. It sort of snaps onto the front of the phone and leaves the back exposed. And then there is the back piece that brings it all together. This piece is a TPU rubber that actually overlaps the front piece on the side of the phone. This brings the whole thing together in a nice protective package that is actually pretty easy on the eyes. The closest point of reference for this would be an Otterbox style case, but this is not… it’s Poetic. And it’s beautiful.
The quality of this case is pretty stellar to be honest. It’s not cheaply made by any means and I didn’t fear for my phone while this case was on it. While I did not do a drop test, I’m pretty confident this case would protect the phone for nearly any everyday drop. Obviously no one WANTS to drop their phone, but this case could take it if you did.
Opinion: The only improvement that I could see this case needing is the built in screen protector. Due to the type of plastic used on it, it gives a weird rainbow effect on parts of the screen. I just installed the Poetic Revolution, and I agree with your review. The thinner cases are still difficult to reliably grasp. I am hoping the case is as protective as it seems. The plastic screen protector is, well, not tempered glass- yet it offers decent protection. With the V20, there don''t appear to be any properly fitting glass protectors out yet. So plastic is the way to go. If that should change, then a lighter case with a glass protector would make sense for me.

Sorry for the delay... I tried to use a tempered glass protector, but it had a halo effect... So what you are seeing is a naked screen. No screen protector at all. I'm only about a week in to no screen protector of any kind and I have not had any issues... If anything, the phone is actually a bit more appealing to the eye now...
Went comes to any of my android devices, I am partial to cases that protect rather than covers that are thin and pretty. For S3 I have the Poetic TurtleSkin Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 silicon cover and am happy with it. The only drawback I see is that it doesn't have an S-Pen holder. In my last tablet (10.1 2014 edition, the pen could be stored on the tablet). What I am looking for here are solutions, hacks or hints that allow me to store my S-Pen with/or on my silicon encased Samsung Galaxy S3 at all times when I'm not using it. Any ideas?

I'm buying a MoKo "Defender" case because I'm paranoid of actually dropping the blasted thing and breaking the back panel. Not sure if it has an accessory for S-Pen but guess will know when it arrives.

Got this case in today. Will post photos later.
The plastics are a mix of shiney/slippery surface on the kickstand (ugly implementation but I didn't buy it for that), it's not as "rough" textured or rubbery like the photo would suggest (even the sides aren't). It will slide around but not as much as using it bareback glass. Might wind up putting felt padding on it. The screen protector uses that glue-snot that's commonly used on non-permanent labels and whatnot, so it was easy to remove. I'm not really going to complain about a cheap case that sorta-kinda copies a design Otterbox would have used (and not have to pay $100 for it).
Oh, and it doesn't have felt padding on the inside like the folio case (doesn't need it) or an S-pen thingy (need to get your own tethering device).

I know I didn't really have a chance to review/photograph this thing (I wish I had) but it was actually quite rugged and big. I'd buy it again for the Tab S4 once I decide whether I'll buy that or not -- covers on the headphone and USB-C ports are decent, and better material than Otterbox uses. Nice soft insulator on the inside if you do drop it, and fits tightly on with no slipping. It did not block any part of the screen. The photos aren't accurate since it's clearly a computer image but the back stand was more a glossy plastic and the case itself was proper black not grey like in the photo. I find these cases with stands to be lacking. I wish these case manufacturers would make a hinge so the whole back folds out for lap use since the majority of what I'd like to do with this is on transit, or in bed watching TV or playing games on. The hinge felt a little cheap to boot, as though it would break after a certain amount of insertions back into the frame.
