[APP][2.3+][Need Testers] Cite by Sight - MLA Citation by Barcode - Testing

Hello, everyone! I am brand new to Android development, and this is my first app. The idea is simple: scan a book's barcode (using an intent to the Barcode Scanner app), generate an MLA citation, export by whatever means you wish. I intent to add more features in the future. For now, I need my solid base functionality tested.

I'm bumping this because I really need testers.

I've tried it out, although I scanned only a couple of books.
After scanning screen goes black, when I presume the app looks for the title book, but I surely should present a spinning wheel or something. The first time, screen remained black, I had to press the back button to get to the app and have the pop-up.
Besides, when scanning another book, it simply crashed (for reference, it was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret, UK, adult version)
Anyway, the title recognition works fine
P.S: I think Android design guidelines recommend removing the dialog titlebar in this case

I'll give it a shot here soon. any specific tasks you want checked out?

Worked for the first book i scanned, asked for publishing location, gmailed it to myself.
Second book it scanned bar, black screen then force close. possible it's not gracefully failing a search?
tested on ATT S3 with 4.1.2

I also scanned my cigarettes and it said not a valid scan. wonder why

Gonna download it n test. :victory:

[Request] IntoNow apk. It's Shazam for TV shows.

Hi there.
There's a new app that acts like Shazam but for TV shows. Unfortunately, it's not available in Canada.
Anyone in the US willing to DL this free app and post the APK somewhere?

Thanks kakrikakri. Install worked. Can't wait to test it after work.
Thanks kakrikakri!
Works great, even in Canada, eh!
Here's the apk. Its a freeware, So i guess its not illegal to attach and Share.
It works perfectly in Sri Lanka.
Tried with House MD , Outsourced.
It brings the results back with the TV Show Name and Exact Episode Number. Ingenious App ! Only needs to hear about 10 seconds from the show, not even using the camera. Just the Mic,.
Thanks! Just downloaded it on my Sensation.
Surely this should be installable through market enabler. I don't know why it doesn't work, even when set to 'US', anyone else having that problem?
Wow. This app is awsome!
How loud do you need to have volume turned up on what your watching? I got a full 7.2 surround sound and I had it turned way up and it still said no go

[TIP] How to set an In Case of Emergency (ICE) # for a locked phone

If you get injured, go unconscious, etc. and someone wants to find out who they should call after 911 to let your family know:
If your phone is locked, you might think you're out of luck because they can't see your contacts! But, you're not. Simply add a contact (friend, family, anybody you can trust) or use one you already know and just add them to the ICE contact group (built-in).
Then, if someone needs to contact them, they'll simply tap "Emergency Call" and press the button on the bottom left of the number pad, which opens up a list of your ICE contacts!
Confirmed this feature in TouchWiz. AOSP, too, maybe?
~Ibrahim~
From Reddit: thanks, lordspamalot! http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1brnni/ice_in_case_of_emergency/c99emin
Wow I had no idea that could be done.
I've just set up my phone with my ICE Contacts.
Thank you very much!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

This is on my phone with T/W Rom.
"You stay classy San Diego"
Just tried that on CM11-S and it doesn't do anything... So I guess it's not an AOSP supported feature, nor CM. It's definitely a cool feature though, I'd love to see it implemented by default on Android or at least CM.

Shortcuts not going to home screen using Nova Launcher

I am not sure if this is a bug or just something on my end. I can't find anyone else having this issue or not anywhere. I have Nova Launcher 2.1 and just recently installed Nova Launcher 2.1beta1 and am having the same issues. I wanted to create a shortcut to a document as I have done in the past. I have a few folders on a page to the right of my Home page. For some reason, I can't add any shortcuts. I am using either ES File Explorer or FX. When I hold on a document, and choose "Add to desktop" it would say, "Short cut added to desktop" yet it's no where to be found. However, if I go to the "Touch wiz" launcher, all the shortcuts are there instead...
Any ideas?

Hey buddy, i am in the exact same boat...infact i have posted the same question about a day or so ago here and didn't get any response: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288152&nocache=1
Im starting to think that im the only guy that wants to home screen my bookmarks/pages, until i seen your post here. I don't get how such a great launcher can not have the ability currently to homescreen bookmarks.
But as you said, when you flip over to another launcher they are there. I really don't know how to fix it or if there is a fix, i hope there is...as i want to continue using Nova.

I am in a similar situation. I guess the recent update of Nova would have bug on it. The issue I have is that I tried to add a S Note shortcut to the homescreen, but it wouldn't show up. It showed up on Touchwiz or other launchers.
What I don't understand is why though there is almost nobody with knowledge of it anywhere. Its like its the forbidden subject that nobody can speak of. I even emailed the developer and got nothing back.
Its just bothersome to me that with all the power that droid phones have, Nova simply can not let one add a shortcut to the home screen from web browsing.

however- you post in the official feature request site, for which the admin responds sooner or later http://feedback.novalauncher.com/forums/145180-nova-feature-requests/status/606906 . Or we can spam Nova thread in xda -make the bug popular, until we have some response http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071 -There's no easy way to do this as the dev has allegedly been unresponsive to emails.

Checked now.
2.0.1 works without flaw. [can be Found in the official xda web post]
the latest release has included auto add shortcuts for newly installed apps-which obviously broke the shortcut add by app[fx ,es] features.

[Q] PDF Books & Manuals...?

Mods... Please feel free to relocate as you see fit if this is not in the proper location...!! Since this is a question, I was told to place it here... thank you..
I'm an IT guy and I'm looking for a good site to either acquire or purchase IT Reference guides or manuals. I wanted to put it out there to see where you guys get your PDF's from... something that I can have on the tablet for whenever I needed it for reference or just to read.
Thank you in advance...
...? I cant imagine that I'm the only technical person on a developers forum...
well there are "various" websites where you can get pdfs from, torrents etc. however if you plan to use them in kindle for example only books purchased FROM kindle (that say search) usually have a search feature, so while you can still import the pdfs in, its not very helpful in finding anything. epubs (dont work in the kindle app) seem to be a bit more advanced and have various capabilities including search but not many of the unsavory websites have them as widely available as pdfs.
Thank you for getting back to me...
No, I wont be using a Kindle... I'll be using the new tablet, but not just for personal use... also business use, reference, etc.. I'm really surprised that I havent seen much feedback on this topic, especially with all of the Tech folks on here.
I did manged however to look in the play store... but they are so damn expensive some of them.. wow...

i know. i was talking about the kindle app for android, not the kindle itself. if you have a pdf gathered from other sources you can email it to the kindle app and access it from anywhere which is helpful.
My bad...!! as you can see I'm not versed with Kindle apps on Android either...lol... but thanks anyway...
Rick I suggest you download the Adobe Reader app from the Play Store. In my opinion it is one of the best all purpose readers/editors for PDFs and it is free! I also like how it opens 100+ page PDF files on the Note 10.1 in just 3-5 seconds and you can scroll thru the pages pretty much as fast as you want with no noticeable slow down for page rendering.
Tap and hold on an area of the screen where there is text and you can copy, highlight, strikeout, or underline. Tap and hold on a blank area of the screen and you can leave a note, text, freehand, or even your signature!
Definitely worth the download!

Pixel c 8.1 .1 frp bypass

I have discovered a new frp bypass.:laugh::laugh:
Frp bypass for PIXEL C latest firmware.8.1.1 with talkback 7.0
Go through initial setup and (connect to wifi). Make sure your connected.
Go back to the start setup screen and click (vision settings).Turn (talkback on).
It will take you to talkback settings. Dont click anything just draw the letter (L) on screen.
A menu will appear click (Dim Screen settings).Once it opens (HOLD VOLUME Up+DOWN) to turn talkback off.
Click the (Preferred Engine Setting) COGWHEEL. Scroll down to (feedback) and click it.
It will take you to a report page with some links. Click on the (Legal Help page) link.
NOW HERES WHERE IT GETS TRICKY.
A page will pop up.LEAVE IT THERE FOR THE NEXT STEP. You need to make it (glitch) so we can slide down the (task bar).
To glitch it rotate the tablet from landscape to portrait. OVER 20 TIMES. Everytime you rotate it wait for the screen to rotate but as soon as it rotates ,rotate it back.
The tablet will open a new browser every time you rotate it causing it to start to glitch .IF AND WHEN YOU SEE IT GLITCHING PULL DOWN ON THE TASKBAR.
IT takes practice but eventually you will get it and when you get the taskbar to drop keep it there you can stop rotating.
In the tak bar you will see a notification that says (not signed in). TAP AND HOLD IT UNTIL IT SAYS (MORE SETTINGS).Click more settings
This will redirect you to running apps drawer to that app. Click setting for that app and scroll down to (home app) or (browser app) and click one.
Click configure apps tab and then click assistant and voice .Once in click (Setting) COGWHEEL.
Scroll down to FEED and turn it on. A sign it app will open tap (NO THANKS).
AFTER THAT GOOGLE SEARCH WILL APPEAR GIVING YOU ACCESS TO THE TABLETS APPS.
In the search bar type (CHROME) and chrome browser will open. sidenote: (At with point you can try varies online frp online ways but i used ALBVIRAL).
I google searched android 9.0 frp bypass and came across this https://albviral.com/bypass-remove-google-account-lock-frp-on-android-9-p-easy-method/ .
And if you got this far just do as that page says and it will work.
Do you have a video? or can you provide any more detailed instructions? Tried this, starts to glitch scren actually flashes etc. I'm dragging my finger from top to bottom but no luck. Eventually it crashes and restarts.

Kimzhr brother, please, help me ! I can't do it with my Pixel C tablet.
Where do you get up to?
When you're rotating the device 90° at a time and it starts to glitch, keep pulling down the top right corner to get the quick menu to pull down. I had to try this a few times before it worked for me.
Glitch too much and the device will restart.
Hope that helps.
where is Click the (Preferred Engine Setting) COGWHEEL.
Just update it to the latest available android version. It can be 8.1 June 5 2019 sec patch.
Cogwheel will be there if your update done.
Yeap, it literally works after few hours of attempt haha.
You guys just need to be patience and as other says, if you glitch too much the tablet will just reboot, thanks to @Farmoid after reading his comment it just worked straight away.
