Thinking I May Return My Tab 3 8" - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm pretty disappointed with the Tab 3. Seems very slow/laggy. In addition, there is zero development on XDA for the tab 3. I know this just came out in the US, but it has been out for months worldwide. I've had this tablet for a couple weeks, so it's not just a first impression at this point.....
Currently, very unstable root and recovery. No custom roms. No way to install scripts/intd.
I've had a Galaxy 3 phone for about a year and love it. My phone runs circles around the Tab 3 in terms of responsiveness, processing......pretty much everything actually.
Am I getting a unique experience with my Tab or is everyone noticing the slow, dragging, instability of this tab? Size and screen are great, but do not outweigh the performance issues in my book.
Anyone else returned/exchanged their Tab 3? If so, what did you return it for? Thinking about going w/ the new Nexus 7, but there are a lot of options out there....please help!!!!!!

Weird. I had the nexus 7 2, the note 8, and now the tab 3 8. I don't think the tab is slow at all. Granted I don't play games, but overall I think its quite responsive and solid all around.
But I've seen a few complaints about how awful it is so it seems people have vastly different experiences.
Did it get slower over time? What are you doing when it lags? Did you install a ton of weird stuff?

Not at all. I don't play games on it or anything that requires heavy cpu usage. Just basic navigation is very slow. Is your tab rooted?

Nope not rooted.

Yeah I wish I could return mine at this point the asus memo 7 hd seems like a much better choice for 50 less than this thing.

I owned a Nexus-7 2013.. Took it back on the 15th day.. (Walmart) They're a lot of issues going on with the N7.. GPS being the main one.. And there are some bad ones out in the field.. So be warned. I was lucky and got a good one, but it just did not justify the price (32 Gb) $294.00 out the door.. for the size of the Tablet for me.. I also own an iPad Mini.. and the 7" Screen of the N7 just was not cutting it for me after being exposed to the 8" 4:3 Screen of the iPad Mini for the last year or so.. The N7 just seem too small.. lots of development for it.. but for me they were the same ROMs I was running on my recently sold Galaxy Note.. so they were Quite Boring and offered nothing new. Then I spotted this Tablet and the Beautiful Saturated Colors and it's 8" Screen won me over on 1st sight.. You got a bad Tablet.. You should just do a Factory Reset Wipe everything and go back to how the Tablet was when it came out of the box. if it's still laggy.. Return it and try another Tab 3 8.0 or something else. Mine was fast out of the box .. is now rooted and still smokes.. have you tried a different launcher? have you gone into developer options and adjusted your animations for faster response...?

I think this is about the Tab 3 "8.0" but you are correct... the Asus would be a better choice when comparing to the Tab 3 7.0.. IMO..
Sell what you got for $150.00... Then buy the Asus.
You are still cutting someone a deal if your unit is still in "Like New" Condition..

Speed
Mine is rooted and still is quite responsive.
Speed wise it was not as fast as the Note 8.0 but it is only dual core!
Ran Antutu on Note 8.0 and tab 3 before buying tab 3 8.0
note was 16,000 and tab 12,000
Where as my mtk6569 Note 5.5' clone came in at 16,138.
my old mtk6575 was around 9,000 from memory. But it has gone to the gods RIP.

This is potentially misleading. It's the same clock rate processor. For many tasks the Tab 8 is just as fast as the Note 8. Exactly the same speed.
Where a quad core will shine over a dual core is when you're trying to do lots of stuff at once. The main area I noticed a difference is something like loading a huge web page and trying to scroll while it's still loading. Lots of stuff happening at the same time there so more processors makes a clear difference.
But for basic, one at a time tasks where there's not much parallelism to be found, there isn't much noticeable performance difference.

I don't know if the '8 is that much different, but my tab 3 10.1 is among the speediest i' ve ever used(tablets)

From Galaxy S III to iPhone 5..... to Note II? I need some opinions

Hi!
So, the thing is, that this summer, I got the GT-I9300, and was very happy with it. Late in December, I drowned it by accident, but luckily my insurance covered it, so I could afford a new phone. Being somewhat tired of not getting a fully working CyanogenMod10 because of the lack of Exynos-sources, I decided to pick another brand and/or model.
After some thinking, I landed on the iPhone 5. I was happy with my choice, for a while. I experienced a lot of small issues tho. When I turned it on, it wouldn't connect to my WiFi, so I had to connect it to my computer, and small annoyances like that. When I had set it up properly, adding accounts and such, things were starting to behave the way I wanted. Until I had a WiFi problem. Again. The connection would drop (speed would go ridiculously low), but the icon was showing full signal strength. After some googling, I found out that this was a common problem, and that many people had been getting replacements without any help. This made me want another phone, (I expect things like WiFi to be fully working when you buy a device this expensive), because waiting for an update fix from Apple could potentially take forever.
Since I wasn't noticed about all these issues when buying the phone, and when it's behaving this abnormal with a feature this critical (WiFi is one of the most important features for me), I might be eligible for return my iPhone in trade for another brand or model.
This leads me to my questions. Have anyone here had and iPhone or SIII and then bought the Note II later? What's you opinions regarding user experience, general OS "smoothness", and features?
When I had the SIII, the sources were an important part for me (though I didn't know SIII had no proper sources before I bought it). How is that on the Note? I know the Note II doesn't have the sources either, but how is the overall experience compared to the S3? Does it have the small "hiccups" the S3 had?
(Contacts and Phone opening lag and stuff like that). I'd really like to know, especially from former iPhone and SIII-owners.
(Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, though I thought this might be the place for getting opininons from Note II-owners.)
I had s3, didnt like it because of some lag, 1 gb ram isnt enough for s3 with touchwizz. Note 2 seems to be perfect for me, had a lot of high end devices but note 2 atm best for me. But to be honest i didnt try iphone 5 but im thinking about buying it. Because atm im owning ipad mini and it is extremely smooth with even a lot of worser hardware than iphone 5. Just one thing bothers me about iphone 5, small screen damn it... XD
I had an iphone 5 for a week and then gave it to my sis as present and bought a note 6 days back. Well if your worried about network issues you wont have any with thd note 2, in terms of the ui and screen quality i belive it beats the iphone 5. Performance is great as long as your not gaming gameloft games. Play any hardcore games and you wont like the heat its way hotter than an iphone 5 while gaming only. Other than that the phone is reallly good never ever heats up.
1 excellent thing about the note is how fast it charges and the battery life. The iphon 5 is horrible when it comes to chargin, but also has amazing battery life. The iphone 5 shud be ur number 1 choice only if your a hardcore gamer otherwise the note 2 is a beutiful phone with great performance. Hope this helps.

Emmm no offence, but will hardcore gamer play games on 4" screen? Lol i dont think so. Hardcore gamers choose ipad or atleast smartphones with bigger screen than with 4"
Haha none taken i agree the screen is too small but i only mean in terms of optimization i found games more enjoyable on it and smooth.
hey sir

Yes also why i chose the samsung phones over iphone , the screen needs to be big adn handy in hand something samsung just proved the could and its a must too seee streams and other media smoother and readable something they ALSO improved ones again . its just great i feel like i am on extacy at times i think about it hehe
I had the iphone 4. Sleek and sexy device but I had to charge it at least twice a day and phone gets really hot. Switched to note 1. Loved the screen size but battery life isnt any better.
Got the s3 non lte. The development support for the s3 is awesome. So many roms, kernels, themes and mods to choose from. However im extremly dis satisfied with the screen size. Battery life was decent 5hrs screen time on average. In the end I gave it to my girlfriend and decided to take the plunge.
I was very skeptical of getting the note 2 at first due to extreme limited development especially the Lte version. But after using it for 2 weeks. I have no regrets. Amazing battery life and no lag or what so ever on stock odexed rom. There isnt a need for a custom rom anymore!
Ive just gotten the 4.1.2 update for my country and im going to root it to use couple of tools for a better experience. Awesome phone!

Yeah, I can see why you are considering it because it is indeed very smooth. Screen size is not a very big deal for me though (I get used to new sizes very quickly), switching from SIII to iP5 was no problem. Getting rid of the pentile display was a plus tho

I'm not much of a gamer, just more like Granny Smith, Cut the Rope-type of games. So I'll be fine in that matter. Imo the iPhone charges very quickly, at least when i compare it to the SIII.

I agree very much about the development section for the I9300. It was awesome, but it was still disappointing that with every new version of ROMs, there occurred a new problem. But no performance tweaks are really necessary? Especially the Perseus kernel is tempting. One of the best kernels available for the SIII, and when it's there for Note II as well... It makes it hard to decide.
And do you guys have money to just give away a phone that expensive? That's insane :silly:
How's the Note's build quality? I really like the metal/glass design on my current phone, and the SIII felt more like some plastic toy in comparison... Does anyone know if there is any significant difference between the SIII and NII?
Also, I'm not really sure why I want the Note... It's so appealing to me in a strange way... I think I kinda miss the open file system, and being able to fix my phone's problems on my own.
I purchased the Note 2 first, then after 3 weeks I purchased the iPhone 5.
I was loving the Note 2, still do, regardless of it's charging issue, but I love my iPhone more. I've never compromised with quality, and that's why I will always use an iPhone. It really doesn't matter how many haters you'll find here, but how much YOU actually will love it.
About smoothness? Lol. How could you compare Android with iOS in terms of smoothness, or fluidity? Sorry, I can't.
At the end, well, you don't have an iPhone? You don't have an iPhone.

There should be a limitation on a mobile phone's screen size/body size. Imo, Note 2's 5.5" is already pushing it, any bigger will have a farewell from my end.
These stuffs will be carried in people's pockets and elsewhere, and this is not a laptop or netbook.

My wife has an S3, so I've found chance to mess with it as said before, it has a low ram for such device. Running quite laggy. My brother just have bought an iphone 5 and I've messed with that too. After using a note for 1.5 years and now note 2, iphone' s screen size came very small.
However tried and compared camera (note 2 is significantly better), lag, processing things and tasks etc. So after all stayed at note 2. It is the best hand device in the market in my opinion now. Whatever I was looking for, I've found on note 2. Even the screen size. It's all completed itself.
So, my two cents. If I born today once more, I'll buy note 2 once more.

I've heard the iPhone 5 camera is better than the Note II. Similarity, without even having used the iPhone 5, I can assure you it is smoother than any Android device.
Personally I've got a Note II, and I'm reasonably happy even though I miss HTC Sense UI and can't find any other launcher or widgets which compare to it.
Any sort of lag bothers me, and I would probably get an iPhone if the screen was at least 4.3" and it wasn't so expensive.

Ive read mixed reviews on the camera, but in general I think the iphone 5 was sharper from memory.
Ive only used an iphone 5 a few times but the camera was quite nice. Although the first one I used the camera was faulty and wouldnt start haha.
Overall all it is smoother than any android I've used, but still lags and jitters itself at times. The one I used also had wifi problems.
No phone is perfect. To each his own.

What many people used to going straight to AOSP or CM with their phones will say, is that touchwiz is actually tolerable on the note 2, mainly because of the phone's power. I've grown to appreciate all the stock features, something I'd never thought in my wildest fantasies.
After removing bloatware and using a custom tweaked stock rom, i found the note 2 lag free a couple of days after I got it. Still is. Disabling scrolling cache fixes lag from poorly optimized apps like Tapatalk, what many people refer to as micro lags.

I am not aware of it as a standalone mod yet, so you'll have to flash omega rom and find the mod in its repository. Have no idea if it's rom specific.

Not sure if this helps but if ur phone is rooted then install a cpu control program like setcpu and change the value for max cpu to 1ghz or 1.2ghz. Still runs buttersmooth in nova 3 or mc3 and doesnt heat up as bad. Warm... not hot.

Do the PRO series tablets perform better than the N10.1 2014?

I understand they're running the same hardware but with kitkat, I am generally unsatisfied with the note 10.1 even after running clean rom and nova launcher. I'm using a note 3 and it is insanely fast, I really don't understand why the 10.1 cannot run at the same pace.

I tested both devices.... and both are running really smooth..... I stayed with the note 10.1 .. and its awesome.... I debloated the stock rom... running energy saving mode all the time and have no lags delay whats so ever.....
The new note has abit less battery life than the old one... and the note 12.2 Has about the same as the old note...
Just to be clear youre talking about the note 2014? Since i can confirm that it really runs as fast as the note 12.2.....
Maybe you should revert back to stock rom..... customs roms are not always the way to go..... in my oppinion they are pretty useless if you have a device that has the latest firmware and stuff.... maybe take a look at what task are running at the background ... and disable any unneccary stuff with titanium.... it feels to me youre talking about the old note 10.1 2012..... or maybe you are just running a bad browser app or smth and wonder why your device is slow ... shoutout to firefox app .... maybe u can give more details about whats up
Greetings
Yes note 3 is fast ... note 10.1 Has less specs,.. but you dont really notice much difference in terms of speed... for normal usage.... dont know if youre running some kind of graphical things...

Well I picked up a Note 12.2 (black/32GB) Friday and well have some mixed feelings considering the cost.
1. Need to root for more multiwindow apps
2. Chrome performance is still lacking - Googles fault, not Samsung's but figured raw performance would address it.
3. Really hate the physical home button and cap buttons more then I even thought I would. Why Samsung thinks this is a good idea beats me!
4. Really don't like that everything is scaled up in size for the larger screen. I realize it's the same resolution as my Nexus 10 but a DPI setting would have addressed this. Just makes it feel cheap and like it's for old people or kids. Need to root to change DPI...
5. Seems Samsung took big step backwards on some S Pen apps. The demos I watch for the previous Note devices work much better and more streamlined then on the Note 12.2. Really not sold on the S Pen and think mine is going back for a Tab Pro 12.2 if it's released soon otherwise maybe just a outright return.
6. Seems really stupid they hide the menu button under the multitask button (long press). I know many apps have a menu button but for those that do not this could really throw off a person who is not resourceful. This is the kind of crap that backs up the idea that an iPad is easier to use.
7. Definitely some random lag. Why does Samsung need to over bloat everything. stock Android fits in like 300MB and TW Android is like 8GB!
8. Very limited development activity!
I probably have more to say just not coming to mind yet. If I keep it I simply have to root in order to address the DPI and multi-window apps. It's an expensive device to give up warranty on... Only on day 3, we'll see how the next few go...

Tab S or Nexus 9?????

Hello Guys,
I'm looking to get a tablet soon and i was wondering if you guys can give me a little input.
I love the screen on the tab S but i love the feel the stock android on the nexus.
Are there any roms that will allow the tab s to simulate stock android? TW is horrible and clunky.
Not yet. And nexus is much more powerful cause of it's hardware
No micro sd card on the Nexus is a deal breaker for me.
There are really only two reasons to by this tablet over the Nexus - Amoled and SD card, everything is arguable superior on the nexus being later hardware. If neither of these things are important to you there really no reason to buy this now. For SD card and Amoled were crucial.

I love my tab s! Micro sdcard slot was a must for me. The screen takes the tab s to the next level.
I also like mine. But in some point I will must try Nexus 9, only if samsung give us some lollipop experience in the future I will stay
I was debating this too but the 4:3 nexus screen made be buy a tab s 8.4 pretty good except for a little lag here and there great screen
No wait and buy nexus 9 it is fantastic buy the 32 one
It has very very bowerful hardware it gaves me 60000 in antutu
The rab s gaves me 39000
Nexusu has fantastec sound quality from speakers and headphone
Is is very damm fast no lag at all
Tab s lags with stock based roms
Get nexus 9

Rather than buying 2 tablets for specific purposes it would be nice if Samsung would just use a different CPU. Not asking them to admit an error in not choosing the Snapdragon, but it sounds like just that. 4:3 rules out the Nexus for me. Really need one of the other makers to buy the screen from Samsung and make a tablet that checks all the boxes. Unfortunately Verizon charges a full hundred dollars more for the LTE variant with Snapdragon CPU.
i will sell my tab s and buy nexus 9
I was in the same predicament last week. Upgrading my Nexus 7, only use the tablet for watching movies, youtube and browsing social media.
I decided to go with the tab s 10.5 32gb.
Mainly for the amoled screen, and expandable memory.
I'll root it, freeze bs Samsung apps and throw Nova prime on it and I should be good to go. Some xposed mods too..
I think that the Samsung products are better. Maybe Nexus will be more devs or updates but, sincerely, I can't do a paragon...different worlds. Samsung forever.
Many apps are not compatible with lollipop on the Nexus 9 at this time even though dev had 6 months to get ready.
Hey,
I do not own a tab s but I am seriously considering it after returning a Nexus 9. I was super excited for the nexus 9 but it was extremely disappointing. First off the screen is seriously lacking quality, really dull colors and you really roll the dice when it comes to light bleed. If you go over to the nexus 9 forum you can see there's a whole thread of people comparing light bleed. Some are absolutely terrible, the one I had was ok but you could definitely notice it and it drove me crazy.
On the up side android 5 is very nice but right now it drains battery like no ones business. I was getting around 4 hours screen time just using chrome and web browsing with the brightness about half way. The battery life at least right now is unacceptable. The speakers are a nice touch but I found they distorted very quickly once you get higher up in volume. There's also the heat issue, the nexus 9 gets very hot. From about the camera over to the middle of the device it can get mildly uncomfortable even just web browsing seemed to bring this thing up to 40 C or so.
Like I said I was really excited about the nexus 9, I thought it was the one for me. There are just too many flaws for a device that isn't really that affordable in the grand scheme of things. That said I haven't had my hands on any of the tab s line so any owners please let me know if any of these issues are also present in that line.
Tab s with cm11 FTW!

Enviado do meu Galaxy Tab S
I was going to purchase the Nexus 9 but after reading all the problems I purchased the LTE 8.4 tab s and absolutely love the screen. It does have an odd stutter once in awhile. IMO the Nexus change to 4:3 screen was a step backwards.

Overall speed

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
There is noticeable lag due to all of the features you are getting with Touchwiz but otherwise the phone is really fast when restarting and loading apps.
Coming from a note 4 this feels much faster, using apex launcher though I didn't even use touchwiz it copied apex from my note 4 and it just worked.
To properly answer that question I would need to give you comparison devices. Since I don't have a Note 7 I can only tell you how my S7 compares. Not going to sugarcoat it but my iPhone 6S feels much smoother with less hang ups. And even comparing it to my Nexus 6 with Android N beta that 2 year old phone feels like it's running more fluid. It may not be faster in benchmarks but it's the fluidity I'm referring to. But my tiny iPhone SE takes the speed crown. It's running the same processor as its bigger brother but it's pushing less pixels. If it wasn't for the silly iOS animations the speed would be a dream come true.
And that's the big issue I have. If I wasn't such a phone whore on different platforms with the Note 7 being my only device I would tell you that the phone is the quickest. Feature and design wise the Note 7 will be number one for a long time but if you want speed over features the Note 7 is not it. That's between the upcoming 1080p Nexus and iPhones. Those are going to be the fastest devices in real world use.
But maybe dropping the Note 7 resolution down to 1080p could have a huge impact. I did that on my Nexus 6 with no visible impact to screen quality.

Same here but using Nova. Heres how mine compared.
Some apps reload more than I would like and there are stutters in the animations every now and then.
But overall performance is very good.
How does the Note 7 compare to the S7 Edge? I have the Note 4 and the S7 Edge and was thinking about selling my S7E and getting a Note 7. I tend to use my Note 4 more than my S7E due to root and Xposed and the far superior sound output. I just really want a waterproof Note.
the note 7 is definitely slower and less smooth than the oneplus 3. it's not a dealbreaker, but it's something that can't be ignored considering the laggier/slower phone cost literally twice as much as the smoother one. one example is searching within settings or app tray. on my oneplus 3, or huawei p9, or xiami mi 5, results load in real time as i type each alphabet. on the note7? i can finish typing the entire word and then is till have to wait a second or two before results load (especially noticeable when searching in settings). when you tap "recent apps" button on the OP3, everything zips up. on the note 7, it's visibly slower there too.
Less smoother in gaming even compared to the S7 or the P9 Plus
I love how everybody complains how the device is "slow" or "laggy" compared to "insert this years flagship with the same specs here" like, you can't expect a smartphone to double its specs and its performance every 6 month, I certainly don't.
Previously I had an LG G3 which was a great device with a large development community, but it's touchscreen broke.
Currently I'm using an LG G2 mini since april, patiently waiting for the arrival of the note7.
I can understand the people who change as smartphone every year or even every six month, the reason is mainly "because I can".
I wouldn't switch a smartphone unless it was completely unusable including incredibly outdated.
I think your lack of satisfaction with the phone aspects and the price comes from lack of proper comparison.
It's like the difference between driving a Maserati and switching to a Lamborghini
But if you were driving in a 2010 Toyota... the Lamborghini upgrade is going to feel absolutely insane
For me the phone is probably going to feel literally like a Lamborghini, comparing to my LG G2 mini.
The issue Samsung is that I feel they don't pay much attention to detail when it comes to their software. They are def getting alot better at it. But alot of times people equate super high specs with better software smoothness or compatibility, which is not the case! That's why the older model iPhones are many times faster then the brand new Galaxy. If Samsung invests a little more time in their software department and make their phone run as smooth as the Nexus phones they will reign supreme and quickly dethrone Apple.
That's really sad. I have note 5 for 10 months now and it hasn't shown any signs of old phone. Yes sometimes it lags... though I don't remember the last time it lagged.
Maybe the exynos variant is better than snapdragon...

The weird thing with the the Note 7 is that the laggyness is not constant. Sometimes I feel the phone is hyper fast while other times there is a noticeable lag. For example, when you restart your phone it takes a few minutes for the phone to work properly and stop lagging like crazy. Also I noticed that if I don't use the phone for a few hours when I first start using it, it's a little sluggish and slow. However, if I'm using it consistently it tends to get rid of lag and perform faster. It must be a software of system issue that Samsung can probably fix with an update.

I noticed that at times too. Seems to have to wake up. Then fine. I would be willing to bet we see some updates soon. Look we all know Samsung wanted to release before apple. Maybe the software wasn't quite ready. It happens. Overall phone has been fine.
No sign of lag on mine the phones butter smooth.

Nice. I ended up doing the same thing. Cheers.
Relatively fast, though it's not noticeably faster than my Note 4.

Note 7 is better

does the tab s4 lag like the s3?

I have a tab s3 and it lags when performing basic tasks.
the feeling is like that of a desktop running windows on a 5200rpm hard disk.
how is the s4?
thank you.
no, it doesn't lag.
but there are some apps that are incompatible with Tab S4 that can cause system wide lags...in my case IOBit Applock.
After uninstall everything runs smoothly.
Can confirm that the Tab S4 does not lag like the Tab S3.
The Tab S3 lag was horrible out of the box and was very frustrating to use. After the firmware update it became tolerable but still frustrating (to a lesser degree).
I didn't see that kind of lag on the S4 yet.
I also can confirm, no lag. It's a much better experience. The updated CPU made a world of difference.

So far so good with my 64GB LTE version with 4GB RAM, though I have only had the tablet since mid December and haven't really done anything very demanding on it yet.
Are you all using the 4GB variant as well? The 6GB is hard to come by and wasn't available in Doha Hamad International Airport when I bought mine.
I think 6GB should have been standard as I'm sure that 4GB will be the primary limitation that results in lag. The SD835 is fast enough to handle most tasks and games very well.
I can also confirm that the Tab S4 has no lag compared to Tab S3 that I used to have.
Very smooth experience with S4.
Too bad android app support for tablets is diminishing by the minute. Some apps (that is developed for phone) look so aweful on tablet screens, I had to uninstall them.

folks,
I am reaching the same conclusion.
The t830 is very responsive and smooth.
I hope it remains this way even after installing many apps in the not so far future.
The display is also smoother using either the spen or finger. I don't think it's because it's brand new. Is it the same gorilla?

Exactly. The galaxy s8+ and note 8 come with 6gb. The tab S4, released later, comes with 4gb.

I don't think it's the CPU only. I know the 835 has 8 cores while the 820 only 4 cores, but does Oreo make good use of extra cores?
Also the frequency difference isn't that much @ 15%.
Perhaps bloatware was optimized...
My 2 cents.
I have both the Tab S3 and Tab S4 and neither of them lag.

You can fix the lag by rooting your tab S3 and install Trimmer (fstrim)
Almost 24 hours in with owning this thing... I can say that I haven't seen any lag. Not when I'm unlocking it, using apps, swiping through things... nothing. It may not have the latest hardware... but it doesn't look like that's affecting anything. I even edited a whole 16 minute video down to a 6 minute video on this with no lag! This tablet is amazing man I tell you. Never knew you could do some almost PC-like editing on here

Damn!
has Samsung acknowledged this?
By reading the app description one can deduce that the tab S4 will suffer the same fate in the future, unless the SSD is different or newer..
I recall the tab S3 starting to lag just a few weeks after a full factory wipe/reset, though such procedure wouldn't correct trimming, correct?
Don't have an S3 but my S4 does not lag and as a matter of fact while using it in the DeX mode it is refreshing as compared to my Desktop and Galaxy Book how quickly the apps open up. Third party email and office apps open almost instantly even when not running in the background..

Yes, S4 users don't complain about lag on their tab. I thing that's the first time I see that, it's cool
