[Q] How many Devs / users got unlocked / creating list - Verizon HTC One (M7)

UPDATED POST
1. So how many Developers got the One and got it unlocked?
2. How many users got unlocked?
I thought it would be helpful (maybe) for developers to know what they were working with. It really sucks that maybe 25-100 people actually got Dev unlocked before VZW slammed the door. I was hoping for (and still am) a strong Dev community after coming from the (weak) GS4. Keep hope alive.
(I thought I would edit my original post instead of just starting a new thread)

I am assuming there are some recognized developers that have unlocked that probably have better things to do than chime in here. But if you are a Recognized Developer and get a chance to "officially" let us know you were able to unlock that would be great.
ORIGINAL POST
I have been out of the HTC seen for a long time. I bought the Thunderbolt. Nuf said. I had the Gnex - loved it. Accept of course for "dat battery life". I upgraded to the GS4 and hate it because like a moron I took the update that locked the Bootloader down. Now I can't flash any roms. So - I see that HTC Dev is unlocking the One and I am thinking about getting one One.
Do you guys think there'll be a strong developer community for the VZW One? Not really interested in it of there are not a couple of great developers picking one up and doing some good stuff with it.
Thanks for any input.

There already are, and with this being cdma like sprint, you will have a good number of top devs.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

There is already Tiny, Flyhalf (who's comes in tomorrow) then myself, PonsAsinorem, and Newtoroot that will be coming on board at some point for the 2 year run as well

I'll be around but probably wont pick up a device. But I'm working on it now already so meh.

Wow! Sounds good to me! Thanks gentlemen.

And I'm running around as a half-developer, helping where I can.

Okay - got mine today for $7. Unlocked.
The guy at the Verizon kiosk wanted an S4. So he paid for my HTC One and I got to keep my unlimited data through an alternate upgrade. Sweet!

That's awesome

Updated op
I tweaked the OP to make the thread a little more useful (maybe).
Oh - and I am unlocked and rooted/twrp.

I'm unlocked and rooted, I can do a little bit of html and css if that helps.

I'm in. Glad I got the device yesterday and went ahead and unlocked/rooted.
Since I've debloated and put Nova on I'm more than happy with performance. I just have to get used to a few UI changes from Vanilla 4.3 on my GNEX.

FFFUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuudddddddggggggeeeeeeeeeee.....
That's all I have to say about that.

In other news we have this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44912031

I had a feeling Verizon would do this, so I went ahead and got my One yesterday and unlocked it right away. I am just a user though, but I also like to flash new roms and try them all out...so if you devs want some beta testers, I am your guy.

got mine yesterday and was in before the lock

BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine just got delivered to work a few minutes ago and then I find this out. What a crappy Friday.

Tested the unlock with GrayTheWolf yesterday... All good over here so far. Willing to help with whatever needs to be done.

Are they being delivered with the update that blocks this or is it an OTA that users can avoid accepting?

Unlock my WFS bootloader

Everyone that is still s-on goto this page http://htcdev.com/contact and write "Unlock my WFS bootloader" click send and repeat as many times as you can. Cant hurt to try seeing how they are taking their sweet time with the upgrade.
Done.
Now up to others. This is the only way.
Facebook page isn't a great succes.
Really hope in the end of the month cyanogenmod 7 full working (camera, ...) for free on my phone.
Been there, done that and just did it again....
It's about time that something should start happening.
Boo HTCDEV if you're reading this, booo
If there is enough driving force then maybe we have a chance. A handful of users will not be sufficient, we need enough people for HTCDEV to notice that there is a large enough userbase to warrant them developing the unlock for the phone.
At the moment there simply isn't enough people.

I think so too but they probably already have developed the unlock and there's a fat guy in a smelly Big Android BBQ t-shirt sitting at the HTC HQ with a small red button next to his hand. All he has to do is press it and we all get the update, but no. He's sitting there reading these forums sniggering to himself with a fat cigar in his mouth because he's enjoying watching us all suffer at 600mhz.

Dear Pushkar Kurhekar,
Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service...............................................................In this regard we would like to intimate you that we are currently developing new boot loader unlocked software for your phone. HTC is still committed to allowing our customers to unlock the boot loaders if they wish, however we are still implementing the policy and many updates were already finalized prior to our change in policy. We apologize for the inconvenience, but be assured that we are working on a solution for our customers and our commitment has not changed. Please stay tuned to our official channels for ongoing updates on how we will be implementing this policy. Thank you for your patience.

I already have a magic but today I got a wfs from work, big disapointment to see it's s-on and not much can be done about it
Even the people that are already s-off should bug htcdev with this question, the sooner our devices get the bootloader unlocked the sooner the wfs scene will grow!

Dear -- --,
Thank you for contacting HTC
We thank you for your interest in unlocking your HTC Wildfire S but do not have information on when updates are released or which devices will be updated
We currently don’t have information regarding which phones will be unlocked beside the HTC Sensation. For this reason I would suggest you to follow our official website and social media networks for further announcements about which phones will be boot loader unlocked.

[RELEASED!] ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.5 for Sprint Optimus G [tethered]

Well, hallo there!
It's been a while since I've posted a release thread on XDA... I've been lurking in the shadows (and on IRC) for quite some time.
Here, I present to you a teaser of things to come:
ClockworkMod Recovery (non-touch) 6.0.1.5 for the Sprint Optimus G.
What is this?
This is a "recovery" for your phone, it allows you to install custom ROMs, back up your phone, fix it when it breaks, and much more.
This specific version is "ClockworkMod", which was created by the CyanogenMod team and Koush.
There are many recovery versions out there, I have picked ClockworkMod because it is very easy to compile and debug.
I will compile other recoveries as time permits.
Click to collapse
Where can I get it?
Please go here to download it: http://downloads.codefi.re/thecubed/lgoptimusg/sprint/recoveries/
Note: this is a "tethered" build of CWM, as you can not flash it. You must use fastboot to boot the image every time you wish to enter recovery.
This is due to the locked bootloader on this device.
This will not allow you to install a custom ROM just yet, and please don't ask for custom ROM dates yet. I'm working on it...
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!
This is *not* safe, and should *not* be done by anyone unsure of what they are doing.
I will post links once I have ironed out bugs, but I WILL NOT SUPPORT anyone using it to modify their phone.
Please don't use this if you don't know how to LGNPST your phone back from the dead, should you accidentally kill it.

Special thanks to user Shelnutt2 for helping me test this on the Sprint variant.
Here's a pic of it running on his Optimus G:
And, here's a video for extra proof
Luckily the video quality isn't potato, but the audio sure is. My explanation is that my HTC Vivid doesn't like me. An engineer's explanation would be that I was speaking softly, as it was 1:30AM at the time of recording, and the phone merely decided that my meek volume was purely background noise... at least, I think that's what an engineer would say, as I haven't graduated yet.

fastboot is the same as with the AT&T varient, aka oem unlock does nothing.
Great work
This is a great start. I can not thank you enough. Like someone mentioned in the petition thread, even if you are not planning to buy this device, please sign the petition for lg to unlock the phone. We need to get a culture of unlocked bootloaders going. Again thanks for the good work
Thanks for the share.. works great.
Does this mean the bootloader is unlock?

At this point no the bootloader is not unlocked though I wish it were I so want this phone but I'm going to wait for a few days and see if they make more progress

Y'all know about the quiet before the storm?
It's coming.
Trust me.
If you were in IRC today, you know what I mean. If not, just wait a few days. We've got very exciting news. (Please, no PM's asking what/how/why just yet.)
Extra special thanks to IRC user g33k3r for stepping up and risking his device many times, Shelnutt2 for being awesome, and Vitaligent for an awesome new boardname.
Sprint Optimus G is codenamed the "geehrc", ATT's is the "geeb".
We're changing it.
Sprint is now the "jeebusc" and ATT is the "jeebus".
Expect some XDA silence for a few days while we build new kernels.
Has anyone provided the appropriate files for the LG U+ Korean variant (the device I am posting from)?

You guys are simply the best. Thank you so much for your hard work. I can't wait!
I would definitely be willing to provide the appropriate files for the LG U+ Korean variant. However I have never used IRC. If the OP would be willing to PM me instructions I would do my best to get the files to him.
EDIT: No rush, no pressure. I understand that the US domestic carriers are certainly priority in this endeavor, once OP has everything ironed out, perhaps then he may be interested/ willing to include international carriers/ variants.

Recovery Is posted under the download link. I attempted to reboot tethered into recovery you posted, but fastboot doesn't seem to want to detect my device. Lg drivers are installed and debugging is on, any thoughts?
So, here's a quick update:
We've got lots of work to do. We have a _very_ viable avenue for FULL AOSP compatibility.
Right now, us developers need to sit down and talk about some major changes to the phone-- and plan out a 'disaster recovery' scenario, since this is no longer a 'quick modification' of the system, but a full AOSP conversion.
Without saying too much, we have quite a bit of proof to support our theories, and a member of the development team is now running the first build of Android 4.2 on his/her Optimus G with very few issues.
It suffers from the same issues that the Nexus 4 does-- for instance, benchmarks are ~4500 as opposed to the 7500 that have been reported by members of the community.
At this point in time though, we will be working "behind closed doors" for a few days until we can come up with a workable solution to this, as the current method is very long and convoluted, and will cause confusion with the Sprint version.
Since I'm posting this same reply on both of my threads (sprint and ATT), I'll give the Sprint update here too...
We've run into some issues with the Sprint version, although it is possible that they'll be easily rectified here in the coming days. Suffice it to say though that we have made less progress with the Sprint variant than the ATT variant (oddly enough). However, I've got some ideas (*cough cough* GPT partition trickery) that should fix the issue.
As usual-- PLEASE do not message myself of any of the other developers asking for an ETA. I know y'all are anxious, but if you really need to know, just stop by IRC and listen for a few mins, you'll probably hear us chattering away about hex offsets and load addresses in between me and my coworker tending to b0rked RHEL installs and Juniper firewalls.
In regards to LGNPST, look for a writeup here soon... I know it's been a source of frustration to some of you on the IRC channel, however please don't expect that I have a full 4 hours to devote to teaching commandline basics for Windows.
Once again, much thanks goes out to Shelnutt2, g33k3r, ilkinasr92, and xboxfanj for all the hard work.
Expect updates on XDA as they come, as usual.
Peace!
You guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Full AOSP support!?!?!? Wow, i had to wait months on my last phone. I can't wait so excited!!

So whats the next step to getting either AOSP or CM? Waiting? Sorry for the noob question in advance
I haven't seen this question answered with anything other than conjecture. Sorry if it was and I missed it.
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I'm eligible for an upgrade with Sprint on December 1st. I'll be getting the G3. What will my situation be if my device has 5.0 on it already? It sounds like the ideal spot is to already be rooted, taking no OTAs, and waiting for flashible roms. With Bump being released today, will there be a new bootloader for the G3 with Lollipop, preventing people like me rooting and livin the dream?
I get the picture the boat is setting sail, and I'll be watching it float away if Sprint releases Lollipop before I get mine. I have no idea if they realistically will. Just thinking...
Thanks!

Just bumping, because it looks like this has slipped under the radar, and someone must have an informed response. It may be for nothing, because there might be a good chance I'll get my G3 from Sprint before they load it with 5.0. If they do, and I'm unable to unlock the bootloader for an indefinite amount of time, that might be enough for me to consider other devices.
Does anyone have an answer?

Time to move on...

On April the 18th my mom was involved in a car accident and passed away on May 5th. This has made me reevaluate my priorities, and while I am not getting out of the Android dev scene, I am moving on from LG (or any OEM that is not dev friendly). Life is too short, and I am tired of wasting perfectly good development time trying to unlock the bootloaders of phones that the OEM is just a ****. I want to spend my time doing atual ROM development, adding tweaks to TWRP, kernel development, etc....
I have placed an order for a OnePlus 7 Pro -- just a flat out sweet phone, and developer friendly. I will only be working with dev friendly phones from now on.
It has been great working with you guys, and I wish you the best of luck finding a way to flash the eng. abl without using EDL mode.

Also, thanks for all your time and work.

Wish I could like any One Plus phone, but I can't.... Yes, they FINALLY went to 1440p -- like all major Android OEMs did FIVE YEARS ago. But...
* no Qi wireless charging (which even iPhone now has and Google added back), and
* no IP rating. (And I don't care they dunked a phone they hand-selected to pass their test. I want official high IP rating.)
* Plus, other stuff.

Hi Brian
Very sorry to hear about your bereavement.
Hope you enjoy your new Phone and wish you well in all your future endeavours. Thank you for your involvement with the LG V20.

My sincere condolences for your loss, mate.
Thanks for all the efforts and hope to meet you again maybe someday in another project to have fun and joy - that is the spirit which makes us survive in the vanity of vanities and thanks for sharing it with us, LG users...
So sorry for your loss, Brian. Best of luck on your development endeavors with the OnePlus devices, and thank you for all the work you've already done. Maybe someday LG will wake up and be pro-consumer. This is my first and last LG phone otherwise. (Other then the Nexus4)

Sorry for your loss Brian @runningnak3d. Thank you for all your contributions to the LG Dev community and efforts in helping me with Super Rom. Hope you do bigger and better things within the OnePlus community!
I sure appreciate the condolences guys. I tell you, losing someone close really does make you rethink just what you are spending your time on, and is it important.
I have learned an AWFUL lot since getting started with the V20 back in 2016. Heck I bricked TWO H910s (AT&T model) because my last LG phone was a G4 but it didn't have secure boot enabled, so I could cross flash (heck -- flash unsigned firmware), all I wanted. I use TMO, and I thought I could just flash H918 firmware onto the H910 and convert it. After the second brick, I decided to learn everything I could about LG security. That eventually lead to the LAF post, and eventually lafsploit 1.0 and 2.0.
It has been a great 3ish years, but in ALLLLLLL this time, I have only built *one* ROM. I have only ported ONE TWRP version. I have only tweaked *one* kernel. That is where the real fun in this is. I think I got lost along the way, and was just determined to beat LG. Well LG -- you won this round -- I forfeit.

A forfeit is not necessarily a win! LG lost when they broke the rules and decided to screw their customers.

@runningnak3d: Aw man, I am terribly sorry to hear that... And I do know exactly what you mean how it makes you rethink priorities.
I see completely how ROM and kernel development would feel more... "constructive" or "positive" (would those be the right words?) compared to the constantly uphill battle of fighting LG and Qualcomm security.
But hell, they DIDN'T win, you did: You are a big part of the reason why several generations of LG phones are rooted, including all V30 models. And you are almost the sole reason why T-Mobile models are rooted (I know others deserve credit too). Take huge pride in that. You won several battles. They just keep starting new ones, and you chose not to engage the latest ones. That's your prerogative, not forfeiting.
I might see you in the OnePlus community one day. So far my V30 is still going strong. Thanks to you I finally rooted it last weekend, went without a hitch. But my next phone could well be a OnePlus as well -- as long as my V30 still works to play music
If you ever want to just hang out and talk over a beer or Starbucks, just say the word. Or even NOT talk over a beer or Starbucks. I'm just 10 mins away, as you know...
My condolences to you and your family. Your contributions to the XDA community will not be forgotten, and I hope the OnePlus 7 ends up being a great device for you to continue with into the future.
Thanks and the best of luck to you and your family in the future...
That's terrible. I'm sorry to hear that. Definitely take some time for yourself and your family.
Shame LG quietly decided to lock down their unlocked phones after the V30. This will be my first and last LG.

So sorry for your loss.
Hey Brian,
First and formost, i truly am sorry for your loss and hope nothing but the best for you. i say your name like i know you on a first name basis. I've been in the XDA scene since the Galaxy Note 3 and LG G4 days. Thanks to you i'm still on my LG v20 H-918 (T-Mobile) fully in my control and still using it today, writing this. We, who all went through the struggle's of defeating LG's security among others with you understand how it feels when we all crawled through a river of $#/+ and came out clean on the other side. though you single-handedly beat LG, We still felt that we was right there with you trying to find a way, so others could have full access to there devices.
Just had to say thank you and hope maybe one day you pick THORS hammer back up and start smashing some more of LG's security. (a man can dream) lol. I had my sites on the LG v35 because its a rarity type phone like the LG G6 with the SD835. i really like the LG v35 and hoped maybe there would be some breakthroughs with it. but, without you, this may never be possible.
If moving on from this, is what's needed, then more power to you. I'll see ya in the One Plus 7pro forums and look forward to seeing what you come up with on the development side of things.
1nce again, thank you for sharing your wisdom and kindness with us all.

Sorry about your mother. I know it's hard. Lost my father at the age of 22 or 23 to Geo plastomer. If Google text to speech wrote that correctly. My heart goes out to you man.

I want to expand in this . @runningnak3d won in many ways. He pwned an entire LG security team. Got root for the V20 and V30 users which also got LG a few extra units sold.
I personally would not have bought a V30 if Running did not get root for it. I'm sure many users here on XDA felt the same way.
I called many T-Mobile places looking for the V30 and only 1 place in the Bronx had it.
If anything, Running is a 1 man army! He did a bayonet charge directly into LG's chest.

He's the main reason we found a way to sim unlock the LG v30 T-MOBILE. A one man squad he is. LG tech guys must fear him by now
Condolences for your loss, prayers for you and family.
Also want to join those thanking you for your work on the V30. The rooted V30 with HiFi DAC driving E80 headphones is a lifeline to me right now. A real blessing that is helping with life's pain. Thank you and God bless.
...
@runningnak3d I'm sorry for your loss. Can't begin to imagine what you're going through. Stay strong.
You were and always will be a hero for LG development community. I enjoyed LG v20 because of you. I always thought of you as the person who had all the answers. Thanks for all you've done Brian and all the best for your future. I'll probably move out of LG after my LG V30 becomes unusable and move to a dev friendly phone.
Goodbye until the we meet again someday, in some xda thread.
Regards
Aakash.
