Can't turn on NFC - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've always used NFC tags in my car to turn on bluetooth and open my music player. But recently I noticed the tag hasn't been working. So I went to settings and I noticed the option to turn on/off nfc has been grayed out. I don't remember changing any settings for that to happen. Anyone know what's wrong or how to turn it back on?

Mess with NFC Xperia Tags

Hi all,
Ok, so I got a Xperia P that came with two NFC tags... I was playing with them and I have to say that I find them very useful... but I have a question: I use one of the tags for driving, so when I enter in the car and the tag is scanned, both GPS and bluetooth turns on. Also, I also disable screen rotation.
But would like to know if there an easy way to revert all those actions once I get out of the car... that is: to turn off both GPS and bluetooth and enable the automatic screen rotation... any ideas?
Thanks
PS: sorry for my poor English
Get another tag to turn them off.
You could set the tag up asa a switch using nfc task launcher.

NFC repeat detection.

Hello,
I recently purchased a set of NFC stickers and using the tagstand launcher app and tasker I used the stickers to launch are mode in my car and set several settings in my case. The problem I am having is that every time I power on my phone it re detects the sticker and launches my commands. This can be annoying. if i set the phone to poll all the time it is constantly beeping and running my commands.
Is there any way to prevent the device from re detecting each time the phone is powered on and only running the commands when the sticker has gone out of range and come back in? I tried setting a timeout in the tagstand app, but that does not do the trick.

Hi,
I use Tasker to launch Secure Settings in order to disable NFC if connected to Car Bluetooth
If Car Bluetooth no longer connected -> Enable NFC
Basically stopping NFC stops... NFC
NFC detected? -> Bluetooth on -> Disable NFC -> Bluetooth not connected? -> NFC On

[Q] New to NFC. Couple of Qs.

I'm not new to android but this is my first phone with NFC. I got some tags from tagstand and have been using the NFC Task Launcher with great success but I have a couple of questions.
Is there any way to silence the notification when reading an NFC tag? Its usually ok but when I use the tag next to my bed to turn off sounds etc. and my wife is already asleep and it makes that sound it drives her nuts. I have the notification ringtone set to silent in the NFC Task Launcher app.
Is there a mod that works with CM10 to allow for scanning nfc tags with the screen off? Having to turn on the screen and unlock the phone defeates most of the purpose of using the NFC tags. I found this thread with a mod but it only works for the stock rom (I tried it and it killed all NFC for my on CM10).
Thanks for the help!

Suggestions for using NFC Tectiles

I received free tectiles yesterday. So far only used 1 in my car to turn on Bluetooth (connect with car bluetooth for music and handfree phone) and turn off Wifi. Any useful tasks that you guys use or recommend?

I have 3 that I use:
One for the car that turns all my volumes up, turns on bluetooth, gps and wifi and also starts Waze.
One for work that sets all volumes quiet/vibrate, turns off bluetooth, gps and wifi.
One for home that turns all my volumes up, bluetooth off, gps off but wifi on.
My alarm clock is a sleep tracker, and it automatically turns all volumes down, so I don't really need one at my bedside.

Some that I use:
I have 2 in the car:
(I use Tasker and Secure Settings which automatically turn on/off GPS for Torque and Navigation.)
1 - Cycle 1 Turns all volumes up to full, Wifi Off, Data On, Buetooth on, uses tasker to load bluetooth automatic connect to connect to obdii bluetooth device, uses tasker to load Torque, and display Cycle start popup. Cycle 2 Turns off bluetooth, and displays Cycle stop stop popup.
2. Wifi Off, Data On, Turns all volume up to full, loads Navigation, Cycle start popup.
At Work:
I stuck a tag in my ID card holder - Cycle 1 turns off all sounds, Cycle start popup. Cycle 2 turns all sounds up full, Cycle stop popup.
At Home:
I have 2 of these tags - one by door and on by couch - Wifi On, Data off, Bluetooth off, Sounds set for the volumes I prefer, Cycle start popup.
I have 3 tags stuck under overhang on nightstand:
1. Turns various volumes off or lower, bluetooth on, tasker loads bluetooth auto connect to bluetooth radio, cycle start popup
2. Same as #1, but sets alarm to 11 am
3. Same as #1, but sets alarm for 315 am.
By where I charge my headset:
Bluetooth On, tasker loads bluetooth autoconnect to headset, cycle start popup.
Is there any way to get the tags to work while the screen is off?
To control Pandora?
I've been wondering if it would be possible to use NFC tags to control Pandora, by programming a different NFC tag to do each of these things
-Thumb up
-Thumb down
-I'm Tired of This Song
Any ideas?

I have been looking for this as well.
The Xposed module did not work.
There is a mod by Dr Ketan in the 7100 forums that worked, but gave constant FC's when using stock apps.
so is the verdict that the tectiles are worth it?

Use NFC Launcher. For GPS you'll most likely need to be rooted. I use it for almost exactly the same scenarios as others above posted. Just be aware that there are different limits on how much the tags can store.

I use "NFC Task Launcher", available for free in the Play Store. Has many more options than the Sammy app.

So far I haven't had any luck, with NFC on screen off, and keeping a stable ROM.
-- Note II, TapaTalk II--
I can't come up with anything.
This idea is not entirely mine; I have seen this suggestion somewhere but I have not yet tried to make it happen:
Use an NFC tag as a digital business card. Store your contact information on it and instead of handing your partner a physical card have them swipe it! I'm sure there's a way to do that. If not, just store a link to your social network site of choice (LinkedIn, Facebook [shiver], Google+ or whatever).
I wish there was a way to record a macro. I have an alarm app, and would like to launch the app, and have a macro press here, then wait, then here, then wait, then here.
That would be SO ideal.

[Q] bluetooth and wifi power saving

Hello all,
I am wondering if anybody has any ideas on how i can set my bluetooth and wireless to automatically turn off if they haven't connected to anything in 15 or 30 minutes.
The reason i want to do this is after i leave my home i don't need my wifi until i get back home and after i leave my car i don't need my bluetooth until i get back in it at the end of the day, sometimes i forget these things are still on and they slowly eat at the battery...
I've got the Samsung S3 (AT&T) (i747m Canadian version) although its been rooted and installed CM 10.1 nightly build March 06 there must be some way to do this.
thanks for any ideas!
Alex
Not sure about Bluetooth but you can adjust WiFi settings in the WiFi menu within the advance settings

For the wifi, try out this app... it will just blip the wifi every time you unlock the screen, and if a network is available it will leave it on, if not it will turn it off. When the screen is off, it will turn off wifi, depending on your traffic settings. Blipping the wifi on uses very little power, so it is very efficient to do it this way. LOVE this app.

As for the bluetooth, only way I know of is using Tasker... there is a profile available in the tasker wiki that will turn off unused bluetooth after a few minutes.
Also, wrong section...

tectiles you can do this too (either enable/disable or run that app)
Using NFC on the GS3 I came across this YouTube video on using NFC tags with the GS3. With with an app like NFC Task Launcher you can configure your phone to turn on/off wifi, bluetooth, or just about any task or series of tasks you'd like.
