Face Unlock - WORKING - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Has face unlock been disabled on the Note 3? It is not under the Lock Screen options.

I didn't see it either.

Yup it's gone

Weird they took it out. Worked really well on my Note 2

We might soon be able to install Face Unlock, OP in the International Note 3 forum posted he has it installed and will be posting files soon.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496343

I was able to get face unlock working, I downloaded gapps-jb-20130813 and extracted the face unlock files. I then used Root Explorer to move the files to the correct directories. I rebooted and I was able to successfully configure Face Unlock.
I am getting an error uploading the zip file.

Here are the files I used to get Face Unlock working. Put FaceLock.apk under /system/app, make sure it has the correction permissions. The other files need to be put under /system in their respective sub-directories.

Put FaceLock.apk under /system/app
Put directory and file from addon.d.rar under /system.
Put the file in lib.rar under /system/lib
Put the files/directories from vendor.zip under /system/vendor
Reboot and you should then be able to setup Face Unlock under Device -> Lock Screen.
If anyone knows how to make all these files into an installable apk or flashable in recovery, please let me know.

Yes it is... only rooted phones can change what's in the system partition.... OR, at least have TWRP as your recovery instead of Samsung's recovery. It doesn't take root to use FaceLock, so technically it's not required, but a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP is required...
EDIT: If you want to add the files manually, root is required...

Tried to flash the .zip file in Recovery Mode on a Verizon version, rebooted, and didn't have any luck. Was there any reason this should be TMo specific? Seems like it's an OS modification more than a carrier specific one,...
Update: FYI, I ended up manually moving the files to the previously cited folders on a Verizon version and got it to work. Not sure why I wasn't able to get the .zip file method working, but excited to have this option to access my phone!

Manual moving files doesn't work
Doesn't work for me. I used Root Explorer to move the files. The option is there but it force closes just as I'm about to capture my face shot. Any suggestions? Thanks!
EDIT: Works now! I'd put dir/files into a subfolder instead of the main folder. All is good. THANKS!!!!!

Yep, thought so, this is what happens when porting. That notification png is the one you want, just rename the image in the zip to that exact name.
Don't worry about the double folder, you really only have 1

Just heard that clean rom has its systemUI in a different place then most. You may have to redo the files in the zip so it points to the right places. I'm not sure what the structure is. Where is you systemUI now?

[mod] Get rid of qslides in notification

Hi, this is a fairly advanced topic, I'm not providing a nice little cwm file for you to "apply" or "revert" so you gotta know what you're doing. Namely, you'll need to know how to type some commands via adb and be rooted.
I'm providing two CWM files that you can flash over odexed or deodexed LG Optimus G Pro ROMs. Simply put these in your sdcard, use the 2nd init recovery to reboot into recovery, then apply and reboot.
Props to mateo1111 and lv4n35. I used their contribution for "pointers"
Enjoy your reclaimed notification slide down real estate.
worked great, thanks!
i think i already asked but could you look into removing the at&t text from the statusbar? also making all the text color holo blue? i believe all of this is in the systemUI.
Worked on mine as well. Thanks for putting this together!

once and if we get the bootloader unlocked, then it would make sense to provide cwm files that you can apply and revert easily. if someone packages this file in a cwm file in the meantime that you can flash via 2nd init, then I'll post it in the OP.
Edit: found the time to push two cwm files in the OP

Correct. You have to be rooted and be using a root-level file explorer. (I like Root Browser Lite by JRummy Apps)

The demand for this mod is more than I initially anticipated. You guys made me feel bad :silly: so I'm providing two little nice CWM flashable files in the OP. This should now work on odexed or deodexed ROMs. Guys with international PRO variants, you can try these files too. Worse case is that you'll have to flash back to stock using LGFlashTools given that we have no recovery to fix stuff from a soft brick yet.

Thanks so much for all of your hard work! I figured pushing via file explorer was easier than ADB push (especially for people like me with little command line experience) so I decided to make myself a guinea pig and test that method.

It works in most cases but sometimes when the status bar UI restarts before you reboot, it might cause some corruption in the dalvik-cache and give you all kind of weird sh*t when you reboot. That's why I like to either do things in recovery, clean dalvik and reboot, or "stop" the OS, do my stuff in adb, and reboot. In any case, I just tested the cwm "hide" file in the OP and it works indeed It should be be pretty easy to flash this mod now.

[DOWNLOAD] S4 Google Edition Camera, Boot Animation, and Live Wallpaper

Google Edition Boot Animations etc.
Wanted to share > "The new Google boot animation and SunBeam live wallpaper that are currently exclusive to the Google Play Editions of the HTC One and Galaxy S4 have already been pulled and released for our tinkering pleasure. Thanks to the release of the GPL files (similar to factory images) for each phone by JBQ, members of XDA were able to get inside and pull out these two goodies. We’re still awaiting the arrival of the new Camera app, but we’ll take these two for now.
The boot animation is a .zip file that can be flashed through your custom recovery (yes, you need to be rooted). The files are 1080p wide, so it should look good on almost any device.
With the SunBeam wallpaper, you can try to install it as you would any other sideloaded .apk, but it may error out on you. Should you run into an issue, you’ll need to be rooted so that you can push the file to /system/app. Set the permissions to RW-R–R–, reboot, and enjoy.
The camera .apk from the GPe phones was made available, and appears to work on any phone without root. I installed it on my HTC One without issue (pictured above). In fact, I was able to snap a Photo Sphere, Panorama, video, and regular photo like you would hope."

Boot animation: try extracting the file contents and move the bootanimation.zip (from system/media in the zip file) to the /data/local folder on your phone. Rather than flashing
I cant guarantee anything as i'm not currently using any of these files.

the wicked rom uses a different format for boot animations. they use the .qmg files vs using the bootanimation.zip file. there are tutorials how to change the format. it is a little involved.

Issue
Same as other 4.3
Its not rooted, you must install superuser from recovery twrp description
reserved
20131028: include multiwindow support (start some app, hold down home key, hold your finger on any app, and click "add to split view")
You may neeed to set APN manually for gsm data, or just install http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/omnirom/Apn-fix.zip from recovery. Without clean install, you have to reset APN settings: settings-> more... -> mobile network -> access point names , click settings, Reset default.
One more rom,Glide still alive, thanks bubor

NO Root access
WTF!!
P.S. I wonder why Omni can attract everyone's attention with just a speech, after all it's just another AOSP ROM, and the said "universal compatibility" is not that easily achievable...

what is capps? First build so no changelog and nobody knows the bugs.
For rooting, you must install superuser, what is inside my last twrp.

I care about who's in the party but care more about what the party's gonna throw at me. If it's another AOSP ROM that's painstaking to set up to ideal condition then I doubt if I would swallow (ParanoidAndroid/PACman are brilliant but I never got them to work exactly as I thought).

Thanks bubor
Been wanting this since announcement of it at android BBQ.
Will try it out.
Do I flash twrp after Omni install? To get root?

what is "install the su-script"?
does /system/bin/.ext/.su exists?
I did it with new install, you need to wipe system only, install rom, gapps, and that is. If you tried to install superuser already, it might be problem.

I mean, when superuser asks you to install it via TWRP.
That's what I meant.
I just deleted su in bin, in the original instructions you stated to erase su in xbin...

[MAGISK][BOOTANIMATION] H2OS Boot Animation works for any Android phone.

I managed to grab the boot animation from H2OS system files and I love it. Looks better than the old plain OnePlus animation. I have created a magisk zip file to download. Also the bootanimation.zip for manual installation.

Magisk Installation (Recommended):
Before installing Magisk Module double check you have a bootanimation.zip in /system/media/
Magisk Manager Method
Download the Magisk Module zip
Open Magisk Manager and go to Module Tab
Click the + icon on the bottom and select the downloaded Magisk Module zip
Wait for it to finish then reboot
TWRP Method
Boot into TWRP Recovery
Hit Install and navigate to the Magisk Module zip
Flash then reboot
Manual Installation:
File Explorer Method
Download the bootanimation.zip file
Navigate to your /system/media folder (some phones use different folder location)
Find your original bootanimation.zip, and rename it to bootanimation.zip.bak
Now copy the downloaded bootanimation.zip into /system/media/
Set the permissions for the bootanimation.zip to RW-R-R (0644)
Reboot!

Simply extract bootanimation.zip from the v1.1 zip or Download from 1st post.
Than copy it to /system/media/
Give rw-r--r-- permission (read write, read, read) (644 in octal form)
