Quick re spen - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Is there an SPEN Keeper setting like on the Note2 phones? I find that warning alarm useful if you walk away without the pen. I'm not seeing that option, nor the Dominant hand setting.
Thanks.

[Q] Toggle pen detection

Is there an toggle app or an easy way to toggle pen detection?
I have a full sized bamboo stylus that works great and fits my hand better, but in order to use it, I have to leave pen detection on, which will drain the battery when not in use, so I like to leave it off. That means, in order to use my non s-pen stylus, I either have to remove the s-pen to trigger pen detection, or navigate through 3 or 4 menus to turn it on manually each time. It'd be great if there was just a toggle or even an app to do this automatically. And no, running tasker wouldn't work since that'd just automate the screens most likely.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd also like to know. I thought about setting up something with Tasker. But the S-pen hardware triggers do not seem to be supported.

[Q] How to dissable the open cover lock screen?

Evening,
Every time I open the cover on my Note 10.1 2014 I am confronted with the following pointless note taker/ calender screen. Before I can access the unlock pattern screen I have to click close. There doesn't appear to be an option in settings to disable it.
Please can anyone advise me how to disable this as its pretty annoying... It's not apparent what app or widget it actually is!
Thanks
Settings, General, Accessory, un-check Book Cover DayNote box.
I myself like it, it's useful for me to see next calendar event and sometimes to take quick notes.

Massive thanks for that ddavtian. I've extensively modified the pad, but couldn't think where the option to stop this was... These is another option for a different note taker on the lock screen which I must have tried about 10 times lol!
Same thing happened to me with the Poetic cover. It was driving me nuts trying to find the setting!

Quick Glance or whatever as the GS4 had?

Possibly a stupid question but I cannot for the life of me find this setting and I would think this phone would also have it as my GS4 did.
Quick Glance, I believe it was called. It's a feature where your phone is laying on a flat surface and you simply wave your hand over it to turn on a "Quick View" special screen on with Time/Date/Emails/Messages/ect...
Does this Note 4 have that and if so, where is the setting? lol
It's not the same thing but under Accessibility, than Dexterity and Interaction, Air wake up. All this does is turn the screen on but I think it's the closest thing to what the S4 had.

Odd Pen Functions?

Longtime owner, user, tweaker. I have an ongoing beef with some odd pen functions, but I am using a Wacom Feel Stylus designed for this pad. When I am randomly surfing and click on a link to open it, I get an onscreen search bar that refuses to respond to almost anthing I try to do with it. And, in my own world of necessities, the pen is my only type of input. I have limited fine motor control with my fingers and most screens do not interact well with them. Hence, the pen and the reason why I will keep this tab alive for as long as I can.
Does anybody know some hidden pen settings that will turn off this anoyingly random search bar? I guess I need a fresh pair of eyes, too. ;-Deano
btw- I do have the aftermarket(paid) pen command app but see nothing relevant in it for this minor PITA

Screen Lock (whilst worn) a woeful oversight from Samsung

Is it just me that has found it to be FAR to easy to interact with the Galaxy Watch whilst wearing it - accidental screen touches, bezel rotations etc, leading to missed notifications & even a "sleeve dial" (thankfully only to my wife, not the boss! ) or even interference from little wandering fingers (attached to a small child in my case)!
For the last week-or-so (since launch day) it has been getting to be an increasing annoyance, which other than taking the watch off in order to enable to pin lock, I've had no solution to. This evening I am happy to say that I've found a solution! :victory: ...
Looking at other posts from XDA S3 boards, and trawling the Samsung Apps' gear listings, I installed Vincent Wong's "Screen Block 2" and can confirm it does exactly what was needed, and works fine (thus far) on the Galaxy Watch (26mm)!
Beautiful & elegant in it's simplicity; and peace of mind restored! I don't know if Vincent is on these forums, but :highfive: to you sir and thank you very much indeed!
There are several ways to "block" unintended actions like disabling the wake up by bezel rotation or disabling the wake up gesture. You could even try the water lock function.
Why do you expect the watch to be able to differentiate between you deliberately tapping the phone and your little child doing so ?

But I do use the bezel rotation &/or gesture to wake the screen (often to just check the time ) - that's not the issue!
It's the fact that the watch can then be navigated and interacted with, without further ado, that I found irksome.

Not just tried it, but whilst swimming (& also when showering) I routinely use it, and set it to one of my quick access shortcuts! PS: The little tune the watch plays to clear the speaker is a brilliant touch! :good:

I never suggested that I expect any such thing of the watch - it is after all (no offence) a 'dumb' smart-device thus incapable of such finesse and consideration of the source of interaction. Maybe in a few years time, that may be achievable given the rapid progression of the tech landscape. :fingers-crossed:
I guess that I would rather draw a parallel to most people's expectation that their mobile phone would have (at the very least the option to enable) some form of security which lets one 'wake' the device to say, look at the time, or read a notification summary / alert; but they then need an additional input (pattern/pin/biometric) to unlock said device to access the entire content of the notification. The watch (IMHO) was sorely lacking in this respect, in that other than first thing in the morning (I enabled the lock to engage after turning off "Goodnight Mode"); after taking the watch off and putting it back on; or powering on, I would not be prompted to use a PIN or other solution to do anything on the watch. Just wake the watch & away you go!

Hello there, i may be a little dumb (or just not familiar enought with the watch already) but how do you set a quick acces for the water lock mode ? (btw i'm on the galaxy watch 46mm maybe it's not the same as the 26mm), i've a quick acces widget but i could only add the setting button but i don't find how to specify a quick acces on the water lock itself.
Tho screen-block 2 i already a blessing
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
