Tiny icons at bottom of lock screen--what are they for? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Can someone please tell me what the little icons below the app shortcuts on the lockscreen do? I've tried just about every combination of pressing/tapping/swiping/etc. with both my finger and the s-pen, and nothing ever happens. Why are they there? What do they do?

They are indicators of the currently displaying lock screen widget (out of the multiple supported) on top. (in your case it's the big clock)

Ah, got it. I hadn't tried dragging the lockscreen widget left/right, which is kinda dumb, since I've been using Android since before this was even possible. I feel dumb now.
Thanks!

Any idea why there is that blue bleed on the right, next to Sent?
It's only hit me today, but I kept thinking there was something wrong with my screen so I installed screenshot to double check.
What's everyone else using for Pop3 mail?
Maybe Im wrong, but isnt that horizontal menu scrollable (right to left and vice versa)? So the blue bleed means there are more option, which are currently hidden.

Absolutely, it is scrollable.
It's the way that it appears to "bleed". If you pull it across, it doesn't look much better.
Considering the screen and how well it can deal with perfect graphics, this app just looks cheap and nasty.
That's the way it tells you that you need to pull it left for more tabs to appear.

well thats just the typoclock widget. I would like to see a live wallpaper that functioned as a clock be pretty cool i think
yeah, found it not long after i posted that (the clock that is). i just like the idea of the clock on every page and not eating up widget space.
That would be cool, anyone find it?
You could try and make one yourself with OwnSkin. Look for the app in the market. You can create your own live wallpapers online. Just post it when you're done, of course

OK so I threw together this live wallpaper as a proof of concept. Only took 10 mins and it was my first time using the software. I put a battery percentage on there too, but it got hidden by my dock. So yeah, it's definitely possible.
that looks pretty interesting. i signed up, i'll mess with it later. right now, too tired.

HELP! Grayscale discoloration on the status bar on black background????

Hi! I noticed lately that everytime I pressed recents on my A5, there's this layers of gray on the status bar? It doesn't only appear on the recents but on the home screen as well. And it only appears on the home and recent screen... Is this a burn in? Help please.
Here are the links of the screenshot:
You can't see it clearly but try to tilt your screen

Yes, by what you described, that is most likely and amoled burn-in. I also have one...
That's normal. For whatever reason, the software is made that way. You can download a screen test anytime, or open a black picture and see that it's fine. Also, some launchers hide it, but I don't remember which ones.

Question Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the huge space that is taken up by the clock when fully extending the notification panel?

I want to get rid of the huge space when fully extending the notification panel, so when I pull it all the way down, the brightness bar is around the center of the screen, does anyone know a way to do this, with or without root.

Try using Galaxy Goodlock family of apps,
Quickstar. See if it can hide it for you...
Try notifications settings, try searching for "clock" in settings.
Quickstar hides the clock on my homescreen page, they may have added more options for Android 11/12.
On my N10+'s Android 9/10...
I will try that. Thank you.

That looks horrible. Is that Android 12?
13 will likely be worse.
On 9/10 it uses the space much better...
This was modified using Quickstar for the custom colors.
If you want to quickly access brightness control you can use One Handed Operation plus, Quicktools to do so.
Sadly there was no option for this, it seems to be essentially color type changes you can make
