ICS OTA, USB_storage and cable USB otg

Hello guys, I noticed, after the official update to Android 4.0.3 which built-in memory of the tablet there is a folder, empty and not accessible, call usb_storage. Acer to have enabled the host with a USB cable otg and have not said anything? Has anyone done some testing?

I noticed this too. Though I believe I saw where someone else posted it does not work. I am going to buy an inexpensive OTG cable to test it out. If it doesn't work, I can always use it on a future device.
i bought an OTG cable to use my skype headset and Xbox 360 controller. The OTG cable doesn't work at all on my rooted, ICS A100..... I'm kinda disappointed.

Because the hardware for USB host isn't connected.

So is there no possible way of developing a kernel with USB host support for use with an OTG cable?
The kernel already has host support, we just have no hardware for it.

Dock with mhl/hdmi/audio out?

Is there any dock solution available that has hdmi out (via a built in mhl to hdmi converter) or at least an 3,5mm audio out? Can't seem to find one.
And btw is is possible at all to have charging/data transfer while using mhl to hdmi?
An all in one solution would be sooooo awesome, a dock with a usb otg host, hdmi out and 3,5mm line out while being connected to pc or ac. But that of course would be a kernel problem i guess.

USB-Ethernet adapter

After trying (and failing) a cheap chinese one, I found the plugable usb-ethernet apdater. I trusted a twitter comment that it works with the shield, and that's right.
http://plugable.com/products/usb2-e1000
Works great, plug and play instant connection with your network. Perfect performance streaming PC games without wi-fi.
I hope this helps if anyone is searching for this solution. For me is perfect to play in my bedroom, where I don't want to have a strong wi-fi signal.
Plugable stuff is great! im using their stuff on my Raspberry pi. its good to know it works with shield. now i just need a OTG cable
Oh king Conan! Thanks for it! Did I know you? jejeje
I'm waiting my new gtx 760 with 4gb...and then I will buy the same usb ethernet adaptor. Thanks for the info

So only problem why regular OTG cable won't work on our phone is power supply so you have 3 solutions, follow this great tutorial or buy OTG cable with power supply or make it yourself it's very easy ive just did it... It isn't so pretty but it's working great...
You need regular OTG cable, usb extension cord ( 0.5 or 1m ) and charging adapter...
1st you cut OTG cable in half and remove protection you will see 5 wires ( red black white green and yellow )
2nd cut usb extension cord near female connector u don't need it ( here we will use only red and black wire )
3rd on cutted OTG cable connect wires with it's own colors and than connect red and black wires with usb extension cord ones
4th now you need to take some tape and wrap every connection so you don't get short circuit
Wola direct OTG without reduced speed from USB hub

Very Good But I prefer my guide

Use Power Bank
You can also use any power bank instead of charger.....to provide extra power needed for OTG to work.

USB Data Cable (for Moto Z Play) no detection with PC

Hello Everyone,
I bought a Cable Data and Charge USB 3 Type C for Motorola Moto Z Play (Written like this on the product description) but when i plug it in PC, there is no detection (no "ding dong", nothing in peripherals manager).
The seller change it because he thought it was defective, but same thing with the second cable. I tried on 2 PC, USB2 and USB3 ports...
Is there anything to activate in settings (i don't think) ?
Thanks for your help
Did you try another port? Another pc?
