Prerequisite
You need to be ROOTED.
First make sure you are on STOCK KERNEL not on a CUSTOM kernel.
Take a full backup of your mobile.
Make sure DRM keys are of your mobile only otherwise it will hardbrick your phone.

NOW TO LOCK BOOTLOADER
Make sure the device is booted in normal mode (the way you normally use it).
Run Backup-TA.bat
Read the last paragraph of the license before continuing.
Read the information and follow the instructions given by the tool.
Click to collapse
NOW YOUR BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED

Seemingly a pretty silly question but asking just in case, considering quirky behaviour on devices sometimes due to various variables,
Can our devices be locked & unlocked & so forth on a repetitive basis (not that many would want to do that) without any side effects??

I have not backed up my DRM keys, before unlocking. I understand this tutorial is only if drm keys are backed up. I am searching, searching and searching, NO JOY
I WANT to relock my Xperia M Single SIM C1904, any development for this ?

Hmm now you cant.

Will I be able to use somebody else's DRM keys and restore it to my phone using TA Backup !

No, every single device has its own TA partition, using partition from other device will brick your phone.

Tried backing up my fully rooted Xperia M.
(Used this method to root : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529561)
Got this error :

Xperia Ion LT28at (needing root)

I did try the method mentioned using BIN4ARY.. but I kept getting errors.
I did have ALL the settings on the phone how I was told to. Still no root.
I tried ALL the current releases of his script.. no root.
I installed the backup and restore app that was mentioned.. no root.
I even did the factory update to ICS and then tried the root methods.. no root.
****
Anyone have ANY luck rooting their AT&T Xperia Ion LT28at..?
Is there a program that can be installed on the phone (like Z4root or SuperOneClick) . I know those don't work lol.
Please.. I need root..
This works. It's how I got ics on my att ion
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812168
Just use whatever ics ftf file you want.

I tried that. How can I downgrade back to gingerbread?
I did the ota 6.1 ics update. Then tried rooting.
Btw.. this phone has locked boot loader.
Get flashtool.
Turn USB debugging on in your phone menu.
Turn OFF MTP just change it to MTC or whatever the second option is, in your phone menu.
Plug your phone into your pc.
Open flashtool.
Look for the lock icon at the top left of flashtool, it is a big pad lock.
Click it- flashtools message box now tells you to open the backup restore app.
Go to your apps and open backup and restore.
Click restore.
Flashtool will tell you it worked and it is rebooting.
The phone will say failed plug in external memory. THIS IS SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN DONT TOUCH ANYTHING DONT UNPLUG ANYTHING DO NOTHING.
Phone reboots once.
Flashtool finds your phone and reboots the phone again.
Once your phone is loaded go to your apps and find supersu.
Congrats you can read and follow simple procedures!
Do I need to make a new topic with a guide for this? A few people are having issues with it not sure why it's not too hard lol

If your running ATT ics then the back up apps were not included.
Read through the main routing thread on how to get them.

Hi Sniper.
Actually if you flash any, Relock File For Your Xperia With TA partition ticked while flashing.
It will get you DRM keys back.
I have tested it myself on my Xperia.
And Everything is working for me.
You can try as well.
I hope this information seems helpful to you,

First off all,

If Its still hard for you to understand I'd try to make it more simple for you.
I hope this information helps you in some way, basically its just backing up the TA partition.

i thought the drm keys are linked to the specific handset, so i don't think that relocking and flashing a generic ftf will get your drm keys back?
::EDIT::
having said this, i'm sure i read somewhere recently that the JB firmware's don't need drm keys for things like music info/BE/track id etc to work? I honestly can;t rememebr which thread i was reading this in though, sorry :\

First of All Since You have Unlocked Your Bootloader Already I dont think you can recover your DRM keys from TA partition
What you can do now?
1. FLash Stock (Exclude TA prtition)
2. Flash Relock (Include TA partition)
3. Update JB via PCC or SUS
4. Your phone will have working BE, XLoud, Track id and all Sony Enhancements.

I hadn't realized the bravia engine would go away as well... I've rooted... and basically done what I really needed to do thus far to it... I'm just exploring the other options... assuming my wife wants to use it as her daily phone, I won't be messing with it much after the initial setup anyway.
i root my xperia with KINGO ROOT, simple and fast
plug your device, enable usb debugging and click root.. works fine in .2.67!!

Well as per recent info, it tracks many info from the phone while rooting as in IMEI number, some personal info etc. so it still being reviewed, unless its confirmed to be safe its better not to use Kingo Root.

The solution will probably be to flash a stock FTF with Flashtool, but this is the Xperia Z section, so your thread shouldn't really be here.

I download this TFT file. It's a android jelly bean for my Z1c.

So after finish flashing in order to get my phone rooted i download CWM
to unlock my bootloader.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620794
After bootloader is unlocked i'm installing supersu to get rooted.
Code:
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
And then i do a simple backup using this method
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598

Before this i thought i have delete my whole system but i was wrong
because i unlock my bootloader using fastboot
and download false version of CWM (14.3.A.0.681) since
my current android version is 14.2.A.1.114.So it does not fits
together.

Well, What if I only want CWM/TWRP recovery for now? unlocking bootloader felt safer for Xplay and xperia neo L ( 2011-12 devices ) .... but I dont wish to unlock bootloader just yet... I guess the OP just wanted a way to have Nandroid backup ability, if something went wrong while using say... xposed modules, or other root apps, or tweaking the build.prop ... so is it possible to get CWM/TWRP on stock ROM and Kernel ?

Well, What if I only want CWM/TWRP recovery for now? unlocking bootloader felt safer for Xplay and xperia neo L ( 2011-12 devices ) .... but I dont wish to unlock bootloader just yet... I guess the OP just wanted a way to have Nandroid backup ability, if something went wrong while using say... xposed modules, or other root apps, or tweaking the build.prop ... so is it possible to get CWM/TWRP on stock ROM and Kernel ?

Thanks man.... Really appreciate. Wonder why I couldn't find it when it was right there in front of me... I already had one bootloop, and without a recovery I had reflash the ftf and lose all my stuff.. But NEVER AGAIN!
