Well, What if I only want CWM/TWRP recovery for now? unlocking bootloader felt safer for Xplay and xperia neo L ( 2011-12 devices ) .... but I dont wish to unlock bootloader just yet... I guess the OP just wanted a way to have Nandroid backup ability, if something went wrong while using say... xposed modules, or other root apps, or tweaking the build.prop ... so is it possible to get CWM/TWRP on stock ROM and Kernel ?

If you have bootloader locked you will need to down grade your firmware to build 42 do this download program called flashtools available on xda.
Download from xda the .42 file use flashtools to load on to phone.
Then root with either zergrush method or from flashtools.
Once rooted use ota to update to latest build 62
if bootloader is unlocked then do as described in previous posts.
All software and tools are available in general or q&a sections.

Would you mind sharing more feedback of what you have already tried for rooting?? and which steps are you failing at? so we can help you out :cyclops:
I've tried a zip package from doomlord
i'm using XAS, base on .200 ROM, all i do to root was this.
1. UL BL
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309117
3. place this SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42005929&postcount=3 onto internal storage
4. flash SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip in recovery
that's what i did on both XAS
I'll try it right now
Done. SOLVED
Now it works just fine.

Some questions Before Unlocking Boot loader

1. I dont need warranty, but if i did something wrong, can i recover it by flashing?
2. What are DRM Keys? I know it is a need for relocking BL, but why i need to lock a BL, does it has any super power than a Unlocked BL? (Ok, ignore the 'warranty' here).
I am new to android, previously and still i'm using SE Cedar and do some modding in that phone. Honestly, i dont used any warranty before in any of my previous phones.
I'm not able to post in tutorial section and so i'm posting here.

I hadn't realized the bravia engine would go away as well... I've rooted... and basically done what I really needed to do thus far to it... I'm just exploring the other options... assuming my wife wants to use it as her daily phone, I won't be messing with it much after the initial setup anyway.
i root my xperia with KINGO ROOT, simple and fast
plug your device, enable usb debugging and click root.. works fine in .2.67!!

Well as per recent info, it tracks many info from the phone while rooting as in IMEI number, some personal info etc. so it still being reviewed, unless its confirmed to be safe its better not to use Kingo Root.

There is no recovery menu for a locked bootloader. The only recovery is for an unlocked bootloader. If you mess up your phone at any time you better hope you can boot into flash mode and then re-flash the /system partition. I have the same problem in all fairness.
And if you want to root properly just look at the guide in the forum and follow it to the letter.
