[r] Stylus - Xperia Z1 Accessories

Hi there,
I know that Sony smartphones uses a quite different technology (like the sensor on lens) other than the standard capacitive touch screen.
I'm wondering if there is a stylus with a very thin tip that works with our device.
Thanks!

I really doubt but if there's some way to ise it - I would like to know that too.
I just watched 15mins video on YouTube and it's hard to watch what's this girl doing with her ZU - uffff......
I don't want to do that with my Z1
(I know it's something else and ZU isn't Z1.... But still...)

[Q] Xperia Play touchscreen

Hey guys, i'm in the market for a new phone and I choose the xperia play, i will be purchasing it soon, but before then, i have a question about the touchscreen. How responsive is it compared to the ipod touch's touchscreen? The reason i say this is because i'm coming from an LG Voyager so besides my ipod touch, i dont have a lot of prior experiece with touchscreen devides and I want my experience to favorable and not something that's laggy and unresponsive and like the lg voyager's touchscreen can be. Thank you for the help you guys.
PS. For those of you saying that i should just go to the verizon store and try it for myself, i have indeed done this, but I didn't have enough time to form a good opinion about whether or not it was good.
The touch screen on the play is great, in fact I actually prefer it to my Itouch , honestly I wouldent worry about it feels great to me
Awesome! Thank you very much! Just the answer I was looking for, i was going to ask more questions, but there's nothing I can think of at the moment lol.
I have tried my friends' iPhones but I can't form a solid comparison with the Xperia Play in terms of touchscreen. Yeah, indeed, the iPhone's touchscreen is sensitive, but it could be a safe statement too that the Xperia Play has a very sensitive and responsive touchscreen. It's capacitive so it registers even the slightest touch possible and the UI response is very smooth, thanks to Gingerbread.
I haven't had any trouble with its touchscreen yet (being unresponsive or so) but c'mon dude, comparing it with the LG Voyager you say!?!? OMG what a MISMATCH! The Voyager is damn old and has a resistive touchscreen. That could be the reason why you're saying it's not that responsive. Resisitive touchscreens prefer to be pressed down for the action to be registered unlike capacitive ones that detect finger movement over the screen.
PS: There is big difference between resistive and capacitive touchscreens. You should read them HERE to avoid mismatch.
Just don't put the phone to a couch or pillow and try to use plays touchscreen. It's strange, it becomes unresponsive and weak, but it's OK on the table (you have to put more pressure on your fingers).
Onhand its great.

I understand the difference, i was just stating that i am coming from a voyager and resistive touchscreens suck.
not only is the screen nice and sensitive (and looks tasty too), it has 4 point multi touch (which i had no idea about until i ran a multi touch test) which is very accurate and makes apps like google maps so awesomely easy to use, it's amazing!!
i get a bit excited about the screen on the play as i came from the x10 with glitchy dual touch
It's probably the same as the iphone.. I don't notice a difference between them. But when I turned on my old htc touch... Omg lol never realized how hard I had to press the screen to get it to response before

Coming from 3 years of using the iPhone, the Play is a HUGE improvement.
Multitouch upto two fingers is ok
But the screen goes mumbo jumbo when more than 2 fingers are used :S
Some serious touch issues have also been noted when the phones charging

Thank you everyonee for the helpful responses, I can't wait to get my play!
I never found it unresponsive while charging or while setting it down anywhere. It's quite nice to use. Only downside I've found is it gets less accurate if you fingers get all sweaty.
I think Gingerbread really brings alot of smoothness and responsiveness to the overall touch screen experience on the play and I must say in comparison to other phones it's damn smooth. I've seen people with dual core phones be impressed with my Play considering the specs for it are now considered outdated.

[Q] Any stylus pen for our trophy?

Used to taking down notes on my windows mobile 6.5 although I am pretty happy with my new Trophy and WP7 I miss so much the possibility of taking notes down with sort of stylus pen that I am not able to cope with the screen keyboard. I can't use the recording speech feature because in some meetings I wouldn't like to appear some kind of spy
Which technology are made our Trophy screen of? Capacitative?
Is there any possibility?
Any ideas?

Just hit thanks the next time like i do
Any capacitive (only capacitive) stylus should work heck, I've even made one using a pen, paper towel, and some water that works on my HTC Trophy... but any CAPACITIVE touch screen stylus will work.
There are a lot of really cheap capacitive styluses on Amazon. Take a look here!

Grids on the screen

Hi guys
I got my korean G and discovered that the screen has some grids on it
Its patterned and seems like some PCB or some slmilar things
I don't know how to explain in English
its quite noticeable when under the sun or when watching the screen under light
you wont notice if you use the phone normally but when the distance is like 15cm you will then see the pattern on the screen
anyone facing this problem with US G or korean G or Japanese G?
Thx for reply in advance
This is a touch sensor.
All phones has it.

I know the mon has sensor
but I suppose we shouldn't be able to see it right?
I don't see anyone talking about this issue
even for other phones with/without ips mon no one talks about this
maybe its the problem of my device?
It's true that I won't notice it in normal use
and the mon is actually performing very very well
but when I go outdoor the grids appear and I can say it's quite noticable
Well, its visible on any device in certain conditions, like direct sunlight.
Its normal.
And it cant be issue of only yours unit, cause in Optimus G the touch sensor is integrated into the display, not an additional layer over it.
Listen to me. That grid you see is normal. Everybody has it. Meaning if you bought 100 Optimus G, all 100 will have it. I have it. My wife phone has it. My friend phone has it. Your phone has it.

Thx for the advice
I can stay with the grids as long as i don't intently look at them
and I just found another problem
the little hole for opening sim card slot is not as smooth as other holes (e.g. the small holes on top and bottom)
i am not sure if thats a defect of my device but I think thats quite likely
any advice on this?

white balance comparison between ZL and galaxy s3

I read lots of bad reviews on ZL's LCD (viewing angle, washed out color..etc)
I switched from Galaxy S3 to ZL a week ago. S3 had been a decent phone, smooth, lots of custom roms
(of course everyone uses S3..many developers)
I am a photographer and have duel monitor setting with 2560 x 1440 S-IPS panels, I use Spyder 4 pro to calibrate displays
(very sensitive to accurate and consistent color)
AMOLED was too blue and red is too much red , made my eyes tired
I agree with ppl saying ZL and Z's LCD screen has really poor viewing angle.
My girl friend actually preferred S3 because that reason.
(we often watch youtube video on S3 and it was fine)
So, basically ZL's screen is only visible for me
(cannot share with my girl friend cause of poor viewing angle) and made us very disappointed.
However, assuming viewing angle is alright, I love the accuracy of color on the screen.
White balance is good (we can even calibrate it).
I will let the picture explain. Default setting,
same browser (white background), and same bright level.
sorry for bad English, it's not my first language.
I agree! Give me LCD any day over the over saturated screen that is AMOLED. However I don't get why you included a pic of the back of both phones
Oh actually I didn't mean it.
Tried to delete the 2nd pic but xda didn't allow me(guess because i am new here )
I also wonder if the viewing angle problem is due to its pre applied screen protector.(some films often make viewing angle very limited ) anyone tried to remove the film?
(Of course hopefully sony logo will go away with the film..)

AFAIK the Sony logo is in the glass unlike on the Z where it's on the shatter proof film. I have yet to remove it though

Sony logo does not go away with the pre applied SP. And FWIW, I dont think Sony would put something that makes the screen look worse. I think you mean a privacy SP. They dont make the screen look washed out, just darken them when looked at from an angle.

yeh. I meant that privacy SP.So, I thought Sony used to have decent displays (I had Sony's z-series long ago and it had a great LCD..).
just still do not understand why sony did not put IPS level display on their flagships..
anyhow, I will be OK with that except when the phone is on my desk and want to check a notification without grabbing it.

Bottom cameras as buttons on CM

I was wondering if the 2 cameras at the bottom of the phone can be used as back and overview buttons on CM.

Not sure exactly what you mean? There's only 1 camera button...
If you're asking about programming certain buttons the best solution I have found is xposed additions. It'll let you reassign any button. Cost like $3 but works well.
I think his idea was to use the cameras as buttons... like "cover the lens to trigger a button command".
Even if it was possible, I doubt it's a good idea since most people will partially cover one lens with part of their palm in most situations. ^^
+1 for "additions" in general... can enhance the user experience on many "cheap" china phones as well (ahem, UMI...)

Ya, that's what I meant. My thinking was: if the cameras are capable of tracking head motion, they are capable of detecting Light and Dark conditions. Complete dark for a second could be considered as a single button press. While the palm covering the lens could present as a bit of a hurdle, I think by using a particular range of values for time and light, the two cameras at the bottom, which are lying useless right now in CM, could be used as 2 buttons.
