i was wondering the same thing. Specifically, i was curious about the thickness and how noticeable it is. Also is it really that much better than plastics? I've been using the spigen ultra crystal on all of my devices and have been quite happy. Are these really worth the added expense?

I have a Glas.tR Nano on my Galaxy S4 right now and had a Glas.tR Slim on my HTC one before this phone. Both have been outstanding and are worlds better than any of the plastic protectors. In my opinion, they provide a nicer feel than the gorilla glass itself does. Also, the thickness was hardly noticeable with the Slim and is not noticeable at all with the nano.
As with any of these though, experience really depends on your skill/luck with applying them.

I've always been able to apply the spigens in one motion/attempt without any bubbles. Is it easier or harder than them to apply? Also do you have any experience with using the protector with a bumper or tpu case? Does it prevent the case from working properly or the case impact the protector from staying on? thanks for the insights.

Given these are glass, they are a bit tricker to apply as you cannot bend/press from one side to the other. Bubbles are not an issue, but dust underneath seems more pronounced with these versus plastic. That said, I've been able to apply both of mine without too much hassle and both came out flawless. (I did have to make a few attempts re-applying on my HTC One)
When installing, I go into the bathroom and run the shower as hot as I can for several minutes - condensation settles the dust.
Also worth mentioning that these protectors use a different type of adhesive than the plastic versions. If you completely screw up installing it, you can run the sticky side underneath water and then apply strips of scotch tape to it. Let it sit for a minute and then pull the tape off. This removes any dust and will allow you to re-apply it as if you had just pulled it from the box. I did not have to do this with either of mine, but a friend used this technique and was blown away how well it worked.

The Glass.Tr for the nexus 5 is a dud. They sold defective models to everyone, including myself, and all the reviews on Amazon are 3 or less stars. The product has been removed but if you have one don't apply it. Bubbles galore

I'm currently waiting for mine to arrive from Amazon, ordered a week ago. Have you tried to apply it? What shall I do once it arrives? Contact the seller on Amazon for a refund/replacement?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have the GLAS.tR - has a large area at bottom right not adhering to the glass, no matter what I do. The area was initially .25 in diameter, but over night is not > 1 in diameter.
The protector will nit stick no matter what! Bummer - the quality and tactile feel is just perfect.
RMA request has been sent to Spigen for a refund. The other Spigen thread is FULL of other folks with similar complaints.

Got this the other day. If you bought from amazon I would definitely file a claim.

SGP Flex screen protector review and pictures

I just received and fitted my SGP Flex screen protector so I thought I'd put up a few pictures for those considering it.

I can't post images yet.
It was pretty straight forward to fit, a few bubbles under the film that i had to push out though. The surface is slightly grippy. This is my first screen protector (and smartphone) so I'm not able to give a comparison but I'd certainly say it's not as smooth as using the nexus bare.
I'm happy with it but I'll probably try a non spray type in the future to see how it compares.
As you can see the screen protector covers a larger area than the SGP Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic, pretty much right to the edge of the screen before it curves.
can you fix the pics link ?
Not until I have 8 posts. Just copy paste into the address bar. Sorry.

I am interested in hearing your thoughts on screen clarity and any rainbowing from it as well.
Thanks for fixing the links.
Screen clarity is great. The film is not noticeable from the angles you would be using the phone but there are some slight ripples you can see from extreme angles. The second picture I posted shows this.
The film claims to able to heal itself and I have noticed overnight some slight marks (again only visible from the side) I made by pushing air bubbles out with my fingernail have disappeared.
No rain-bowing whatsoever as far as I can tell.
I would guess the film would be crystal clear not anti glare, I can't see it mentioned anywhere. Maybe check the product site.
I purchased from the SGP store (search SGP Flex Galaxy Nexus, sorry still can't post links)
and Paid $50 total with the most expensive shipping to Australia which took 3 days including a weekend.
I've just paid £20 for one of these to be shipped from South Korea to the UK with express delivery. I ordered on Saturday and had an email saying it was shipped today. I hope it's worth it.

I also just ordered mine in anticipation of the hopefully soon VZW release.
Just grabbed one of these US$17 delivered.
Hopefully they are ok, I loved the Bodyguardz on my iPhone.
Thanks for the pictures and impressions.
This new Flex series seems a lot like Zagg InvisibleShields I had for my Droid X. Depth's pictures show the typical "orange peel" texture that is associated with most wet application screen protectors.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but I'm a bit thrown off by the lack of full screen coverage with the Steinheil Oleophobic model. Thus I'm still debating which is the best solution to go with. I inquired about a Ultra Crystal and Optics version for the Galaxy Nexus and Steinheil customer support had no clue.
for me, either realook or martin fields for the screen protector and a wet invisi-type protection for the body!
i guess that is one good thing waiting for a bit for the GSM North american versions. by the time we get it, we'll have loads of accesssories to choose from.
but of course i'm an impatient american and want my gnex now, so gonna order next week!!!!
just waiting on the vzw release and see if there is a gsm version coming soon to USA.
Mine arrived today and I was really careful with keeping my phone scratch free. I cleaned it with the cloth and perfect, not a scratch anywhere. I fitted the screen protector and still managed to trap a small speck of dust. Lol.
All in all the fit is great and the casemate tough along with the sgp should keep my phone immaculate for years to come. I would recommend this to anyone as the protector is quite thick but doesn't seem to spoil the display at all.

yup same here i used ALL of the solution trying to get the dust out and there is still 1 spec left right near the edge .....but ive seen it and it annoys me lol
What about smudges and fingerprints.. can they be easily wiped off? I ordered mine just now and I hope it won't attract too much of that.
With the wet application, does the protector cling to the screen immediately like a dry application, or does it slide around a bit, making for easier aligning?
Yes but For a short time. Of You hands a moist fingers tend to "skip".

Can you comment if it has an orange peel effect? I abhor screen protectors that offer that kind of look. I refuse to put one of those on that screen. I was planning on buying one right now so I will have it the day I get my Nexus on VZW. If you can take a really good picture of the screen to show any kind of effect if any, I would appreciate it. Thank you very much!

I was thinking about a Spigen Screen protector. I think that the clear one for the GNote 10.1 is actually called Spigen Ultra Crystal (and not "Ultra Clear").
There's also a "Matte" version that is called Ultra Fine (Anti-Fingerprint)
I've read good reviews about the latter one here but I haven't bought it (yet).
Spigen page for the GNote 10.1 is here
Most Official accessories SUCK.
Learned it the hard way with the Asus Transformer TF101. The official case was twice the price, and a QUARTER of the quality of the AFTER MARKET cases.

The re-designed Ghost Armor screen protectors work perfectly. Have had one on mine for over a week now. I am drawing on my Note daily and there are no scratches on the protector at all. I got the full body shield so it was a little expensive, but I just like their product and have it on all of my devices. I've seen a few posts here mention that Ghost Armor on the original Note phone was no good and scratched easily. If you decide to go with Ghost Armor, make sure it is the NEW version if you're ordering from a kiosk. I also waited the painstakingly long 48 hours before using a pen on the screen.
clearplex
I used the clearplex screen protector and they are very nice. They boast that they are like zagg invi shield and protects the screen from breaks and stuff. They use the same material they use for car windshields. They have excellent customer service because I had a problem installing it because of my own mistake and i called them and they happily sent me a new one. (They have a 1 year warranty on the protector.) $19 is a very cheap price.
It feels like glass, looks like glass. And installation is very easy, you dont have to worry about the air bubbles that normal screen protectors have. i give it 9/10. -1 point because it takes a few days before the streaking fades away and you had to use the squeegee to maintain the bond for a few days. Other than that, I am pretty happy with this

I never got ghost armor before and am considering it. Can they put it on at the kiosk the same day you come in or do you need to leave your device there?
Could the people who post recommendations please write a bit about how and what they use the tab for! This will be helpful for users in similar scenario to decide which one to go for that suits their specific use needs.

As long as they have the protector there at the kiosk they can put it on the same day you go in. It took about 45 minutes for them to install mine because after they put it on they place it in a heat box to help it dry faster. If they don't have the protector they will order it and call you when it's in. I had to do that once and it took about 7 days to get there since my kiosk only gets shipments once a week.

I agree, a lot of the posts here just mention that the screen protector is "good". But neglects to describe the S-PEN experience with it.
The S-PEN functionality is the purpose of this thread so it's important to comment on that, before I can post it to the OP.

What's the deal with all these Spigen GLAS protectors?

Hey guys, so I got my Nexus 5 recently and pretty happy with it (even got the official Gray bumper today and well, kinda nice) but I really don't wanna end up having a plastic screen protectors like with all the other phones I had, I hate sooooo much when fingerprints show on the PET film and they always do so I thought of just getting a nice tempered glass protector - expensive but $ well-spent. After a little googling I found out that spigen are the best ones out there, that the N5's glas.tr had a design flaw, and that they are replacing it with the glas.tr NANO Slim. Now, couple questions:
Is there a really big difference between the Glas.T and the glas.TR NANO Slim? Or just the rounded edges on the TR version?
I'd really like to know also when Spigen is gonna sell these things. I wanna order one of these tomorrow so I've checked Amazon.co.uk and they are both in stock, but on amazon.com glas.t will be in stock on 30th nov and glas.tr on fifth december. But why are these in stock at amazon.co.uk? Am I missing something? (I'd like to order the protector from amazon.co.uk because UK is more near than US to Italy of course, but first I wanna know if it actually is in stock)
Last but not least, do you think these protectors will cause any issue with the official bumper? Because I really don't wanna flush 40 bucks down the toilet.
I have the GLAS.tR and have no problems with it. Most people had like one whole corner of the glass lifting up.. I had 2 air bubbles (decent size), the first one went away, the second one is almost gone now. I guess it's just how you install it. I do know that anyone that bought the GLAS.t/tR from spigen and requested a replacement will be getting the nano slim as soon as it is released. They didn't specify a release date, though:
"We will be releasing the New GLAS.t and GLAS.tR Nano tempered glass screen protectors within the next few weeks and we would like to send these as a replacement for your GLAS.t or GLAS.tR Slim when the New Nano Slims are available"
So... whats the news with the nano.tR protectors... are they any good...
My glas.tR slim was stuck for a few days eventually it gave up on one of the corners, and that part is lifted up now...
glas.t and glas.tr are total failures... if at all the nano's only work...
G
The NANO fixes that issue even Spigen has recognized. But I want to know from you guys: does it protect the WHOLE glass surface of the phone or leave a little space at the edges? I wanna know because I don't want to get issues with the Google bumper.

I have the GLAS.tR, which also lifted in the top right corner. The fit of the glass has a small space around all edges of roughly 1mm. (Which for me, makes it harder to line up as you need to make spacing even on all sides - I would prefer an exact fit).

Everyone'd love an exact fit but that'd make it incompatible with any case.
On a different but not unrelated topic, is there really a big difference between glas.t and glas.tr? Just the rounded edges? Glas.t go in stock earlier so I'll have to wait less and maybe can get it for around Xmas. If I wait for december fifth I'll most likely get it after Christmas cause you know, in that time of the year every shipping gets jammed and stuff.

I personally only have experience with the glas.tr, but the rounded edge is really the main difference. I do know that the glas.t is thinner, but I feel that the "bulk/extra thickness" difference between the two are pretty minimal.
I went for the glass.tr because I swipe from the edge of the screen with quite a lot of my apps.

Will the rounded edge thingy make a big deal if I'm using a case? If not imma go for glas.t.

I have the glas.t because of the lower profile and it was cheaper. I do NOT have a case with it, however, and I prefer it that way. Unlike a lot of others, I actually had no problem applying the glas.t without bubbles (I used clips to hold it in place for several hours to achieve this).
The screen protector covers basically the entire screen, leaving a minor 1-1.5 mm bezel around the edges. I'm not sure about the rounded edges of the tR, but I've had my screen protector for about 2 weeks and there are zero blemishes. Nothing cracked, nothing scratched. But you should note that while it's tempered glass, it's not fingerprint proof. My hands do get oily at times, and it WILL show fingerprints.
That being said, I really really like this product (when it works obviously). The glass feels amazing to use on a daily basis. It's quite durable (as I said before, I keep my phone without a case and just carry it in my pocket). Screen clarity is great and touch sensitivity is still consistent across the entire screen. With the Nano version improving on the regular glas.t/tR, I would definitely recommend picking one up. The tR's are meant for use without a case (hence the rounded edges), so I would probably get the t.

So, the glas.tr are for people who don't use cases eh? I'm gonna buy the glas.t then (I always use a bumper). One question: does it show fingerprints and dirt as the normal gorilla glass 3 or a little more? And what about it compared to a PET screen protector?

To my experience, it seems to be the same amount for fingerprints on the screen and the glass protector. But a quick wipe solves the problem.
I used a Spigen PET (ultra clear, front and back) screen protector on my Nexus 4, which seemed to be collecting oil. It would be difficult to remove even when wiping. (Should be called Spigen oil slick).
But generally, even though it does get a smudge it cleans a lot easier compared to the PET screen protector. :good:

This is exactly what I was going to say. The glas.t feels just like the gorilla glass 3 since both have the oleophobic properties. As mentioned above, while it still shows fingerprints I think a big advantage is how easily those are to get off the screen. Typically film screen protectors, no matter how clear they are, will smudge fingerprints around until it's like "meh, good enough".
Also, you might want to check Glass-M and Nillkin for tempered glass screen protectors. Way cheaper and people seem to be happy about them. The Nillkin you can buy for like 9 €... That's one hell of a price difference.
I bought the Glass-M for about 20 € (including shipment to Europe). It's about half the price of the Spigen one and I doubt there is much difference.+

Thanks for the replies guys. About the glass-m thanks, but I'd rather have the best in its class (spigen).

Mime Vs Nillkin Vs Glass-M Vs Spigen GLAS

I want to buy a tempered glass screen for N5 within a week or two. But I can't decide between :
1)Mime Ghost Glass or Feather Glass
2)Glass-M tempered glass
3)Nillkin tempered glass
4)SPIGEN GLAS
Currently, I am slightly inclined towards Mime(read good reviews). I heard that SPIGEN GLAS has some issues and the fix can take a while. I guess that is out of my option. My Requirements are : a) the touch should work fine b) no bubbles c)should work fine with a case.
Can you please suggest me which one to buy?
Thanks in advance,
psy_spy
I just received my Nillkin protector. I'm hoping to install it tonight so I will try to post some pictures for you. My first impressions are that the packaging is great and the camera protector (not glass) seems great. The kit for installation is pretty good too. Can't wait to install it.
If it turns out to be rubbish I'll plump for a MIME one. Everyone speaks very highly of them.

I had the (defective) Spigen GLAS.tr, and am still waiting for that replacement.
Applied the MIME Ghost last night and I can say that it's one of the best glass protectors I've ever used in terms of feel, rounded edges, adhesion (even after a couple of pull-offs and re-applications, to get rid of specks with scotch tape), and so forth.
Put it this way - I have a replacement Spigen on the way at some point, as well as a pair of the Nillkin units - but I just finished ordering another MIME Ghost in case something happens to this one.
Think about orzly glass screen protector, put mine about a week ago flawlessly, no bubbles, very good touch and feeling response, cut out are perfect
And is laminated glass, a thin plastic sheet coupled with glass, same as car windscreen, don't know if other are laminated or tempered glass

I bought the Nillkin tempered glass screen protector. First time ever using tempered glass and I will never go back to anything else. It simply blows me away and looks great. It genuinely looks like I'm going naked screen wise. No air bubbles, comes with instructions and all the necessities. Overall I highly recommend. :good:

That's good to know. Mine should arrive today or tomorrow!
I bought the Nilkin, and I am waiting for it. I bought it mainly because the price was low, I hope it will be of good quality
Glad somebody has had a good experience with the NIllkin. Didn't get a chance to fit mine tonight so will have to do it tomorrow. Do you have a case with yours Benman715?

I relieved the MIME and just put it on. It looks great fits great and I can't even tell its there.
Only downside is it took me a couple tries to get it on straight and now I have a couple pieces of lint under it

I've had my Nillkin fitted for the past 24hours or so, I'm very happy with it. Excellent quality, fitted up perfectly, looks/feels great and it was a good price.
I loved the MIME Ghost glass and Feather glass on the HTC One and will be looking to get one of them soon for the N5. My Spigen GLAS.tR totally carcked it so got a refund for that. Never tried the Nillkin. Has anyone actually tested the theory of the Nillkin being "anti-explosion"? LOL.
Anyone tested these with polarized sunglasses? Specifically the Mime or Nillikin

Can anyone with any of these glass screen protectors comment on wether there is or would be any affect of the cutouts being over the camera and sensor versus only a cutout for the earpiece.
Also Can anyone report whether any of these glass screen protectors resist fingerprints well or not?
Just ordered a Nillkin, will let y'all know what its like when I get it.

Yes I do. I have the spigen hybrid case. Overall I'm smitten with the look and feel of tempered glass. The case is a fingerprint magnet unfortunately. Best of luck with everyone who ordered tempered glass. Its well worth it IMO.
Does anyone have any photos of MIME, Nilkin, Glass-M? (I have Spigen GLAS.tr which has a lifted corner)
But I heard that Spigen GLAS nano's are coming out soon.
Is anyone as annoyed as me with Spigel's absolutely ridiculous line of product and naming choices? No clarity between feature, functionality, what's what, etc. Add in the Amazon factor and it's pure chaos. They might have the best cases, but they need some serious help in business management. If I ran their company, I'd have addressed this immediately.
Anecdotally, I'm nowhere near the first confused person. Someone much smarter than I (which, really, is most people) found their offerings wildly confusing and simply ordered one of everything before deciding to return all but the one which suited him best. I did the same given their complete inanity.

I got the defective Spigen glass and just received nillkin tempered glass and installed it about an hour ago.
It seems good overall and unlike Spigen glass, it has a cut out for the proximity sensor.
there are small bubbles with nillkin protector and I am hoping it would disappear by tomorrow.
I've always loved spigen's protectors, but this time it was a big NO NO.
I mentioned this on another thread but my Orzly after 5days of use was scratched quite a bit. I've no idea how as it only sat in my pocket.
I have a Nilikin on order but I'm currently using a £5 'helicopter blade coating' protector I got on eBay and it's great, no Orange peel and you really couldn't tell it's there. Still like the glass protectors though so I'll go with the Nilikin when it arrives.

Mime ghost glass is out of stock. I have sent them an email. If it won't be available within a week, I am buying nillkin. Or as someone suggested, I may buy both.

Tempered Glass Screen Protector Quality (ALL brands)

There's an ongoing discussion on which brand of tempered glass screen protectors are the best value, but I'm curious which ones have been most prone to chips and bubbles. I've had this problem with the Spigen GLAS.t and am looking to replace it. I'm not willing to sink $30+ for something that will just chip within several weeks. I'm very careful with my N5 and I have 6 chips that have magically appeared over the past couple months.
Your votes are appreciated =) If you haven't encountered any issues, details like which screen protector you have and for how long (this is important) would be helpful. Cheer!
EDIT: To help get more definitive information, please try to post details that reveal the following:
BRAND (Spigen, etc.)
MODEL (GLAS.tR, etc.)
PROBLEM(S) (# of chips or bubbles, none, etc.)
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN USING IT
EDIT2: Here's a list of the tempered glass screen protectors and their thickness, please let me know if I need to correct or add anything:

You could ask for experiences of those who've owned and used the product for a month or two. It's common to see people on within a week singing praises but things don't always go so well with cheap glass over time.
I got the Spigen Glas.Tr and it had a chip in it on day 1. Ended up cracking across the screen.
I emailed their customer service 11 days ago and still haven't gotten a response.
Pretty upset.

Yeah this is my thinking too. The first few weeks I had mine I LOVED it, but ask me today and I wouldn't recommend it. If anyone who hasn't had any problems with their screen protector mention how long they've used it for, that would be helpful =)

My GLAS.t is cracked across the screen too, twice! Sad to hear the tR has issues as well since Spigen claims the rounded corners help a lot more with chipping.
Using the mime feather with a Ballistic case and the right top and bottom corners started cracking for some reason. I also have a crack from left to right in the center of the screen that doesn't even touch the corner cracks. Not very happy. This is my first slim-design glass protector and first time using MIME, but I never had any problems with my Spigen.
I've had the mime ghost with a spigen neo hybrid for over a month now. No cracks at all. Tiny bubbles only when case is on. The case is very tight fitting, so the corners rise up a little. No problems with the screen protector itself.

i'm on my second mime ghost glass and it's paired up with the spigen slim. both were chipped and the second one has a scratch on it as well.
Spigen glas.tr here.I haven't had any issues yet... I've been lucky, but I baby the **** out of my phone.

can the people stating the have cracking issue also say how thick the glass is? maybe if you can edit that question into the main thread, we'll find a trend =?
Well those people who got their screen protector chipped or bubbled...can they share some pics of it....and mention the particular cause that how it was happened...???
As I use this Tempered glass Screen protector for my N5 and believe me its such a nice product that it never make me feel as if I have put something on my screen..the touch is pretty smooth and flawless...n I just love it...and couple of times it has saved the screen from my car keys too.....I just love this product..very pleasant experience....
Thanks
Hey guys, I updated the first post with a list of tempered glass sp's for the N5 along with their thickness and link. Let me know if I'm missing anything!
Mime Ghost
I have been using MIME Ghost for over a month now. It is good. No bubbles/cracks. I have read may posts that say that the mime feather cracks easily after a week or two. Ghost is a bit thicker and a better option in my opinion.

I have 6 chips around my Spigen GLAS.t and I honestly have NO idea how I got any of them. I treat my phone with care and always leave it in its own pocket so it doesn't get scratched or anything, albeit I don't have a case on it. But a good quality screen protector should be able to withstand day-to-day use without a case, in my opinion.
Interestingly this is the first I've heard of the Amzer Kristal (which I'll add to the list in the first post) and it's the thickest of all its competitors. How long have you been using it, and do you have a case with it?

Any piece of glass with sharp corners will chip easier, even with large window panes. If you have the glas.t and are not using a case, it will definitely chip as the edges are most vulnerable and more chips/cracks will propagate from there. I don't know why Spigen doesn't put the message for the glas.t on all of the glas.t products, but this is from the iPhone 5 glas.t page:
*As this is a glass product, please note that the edges of the glass are the most vulnerable areas. We highly recommend that you use a case along with your GLAS.t SLIM to avoid chipping or cracking the edges of your GLAS.t SLIM

Myself, I have had the glas.tr since early December and have no issues with or without a case. I switch between the Neo Hybrid/Ultra Fit and no case about half the time and have had no chips or bubbles.
TL;DR: If you get a glass protector without rounded edges, it will most likely chip unless you have a case to protect the edges of the glass.

Thanks for this. I was going back and forth between the t and tR, but figured I was careful enough with my phone that it should be fine. I assumed the disclaimer was for people who had the tendency of being a little more hard on their phones. I'm really thankful mine was in the first batch that was recalled, so I essential got a trial run at the glas.t. Good to hear the tR is more durable as they advertise. I'm curious to know which of the other brands have curved edges as well, which is definitely a must if I'm not using a case.
Added the Cruzerlite TRUGLASS to the first post as well. Seems like there isn't one brand that is clearly more durable than the rest.

used static tape, dirt removing tape, and installed in bathroom with hot shower on to make sure no dust was floating but
produced spiderweb like bubble on bottom of screen which i could not get rid of, took it off after an hour and returned it.
