A simple question for the lucky owner of the new Nexus 5: does the three button headphone properly work on it?? With volume and play/pause..
Thank you and have a nice day!!

My blue cable for the Ultimate ears 900 doesn't work on it, just the middle button.

Yeah same with both my Bose headphones, only works with the middle button.
The 3 button headsets are patented by apple as far as I know.

The G2 come with three button headphone, like the s4.. I thought that finally google made a nexus compatible with this standard

Try Jaybird BlueBuds X. They are a bit spendy but they work perfectly with my Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and I assume that will be true with the Nexus 5.

Alternatively, the working middle button can be programmed using Headset Button Controller to do everything the other two buttons would do. IMO, it's a better compromise than sacrificing sound quality for functionality.

the problem is that there is no standard about it. apple has its standard (if i remember correctly the use some kink of signal on the negative pin for the volume and a resistor for the play/pause), samsung has its standard (if i remember correcly they use 3 different resitors for the 3 buttons and i think they also have a different pin layout), others have other standards (most with 3 resistors and standard pins). anyway most of the headphones on the market are for apple, and few are for samsung... nothing for the others... amyway if you want some time ago i've found a generic guide to tear down the buttons of an apple standard headphone and convert it to android "standard". try searching for it.

Wonder if the G2 ones will work on the N5 but I guess it doesn't really matter since the headphones likely aren't that good anyway.

I'm currently using my Galaxy S3 earphones. I can confirm all buttons are working including mic.

Are these available anywhere to buy? I only need a cheepo pair of earphones with buttons for listening to podcasts at work. It'd save a lot of wear and tear on my phone if i could just pause/play easily and without having to whip my phone out every time.
I find it unbelievable that manufacturers of Android phones still haven't sorted this out. There needs to be a standard created that all manufacturers can use. If we had one the headphone makers would get on board and then there would be limitless choice for consumers. Clearly there is demand for this so why hasn't it happened yet? It absolutely blows my mind!

My best bet would be to try eBay? Of course searching for the genuine earphones.
The Galaxy S3 earphones are actually quite good. On par with Bose, Beats, Senheisser

These work out of the box with the NX5. No app, no patch, no nothing required?? And all the buttons work?
That would be good news!

What single button remote earphones would you suggest? They would be for podcasts rather than music so sound quality doesn't have to be amazing. My only requirement is that they not be in-ear, but rather the ones that sit outside of the ear canal. Like these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-...383733213&sr=8-7&keywords=sennheiser+earphone
Reason being i need them for 13 Hr a day use and in ears cause problems for that duration. I'm looking for Sennheisers like those above but with the button. Not having any luck finding any so far though. Maybe an inline remote adapter would do the trick? Then i could carry on using the ones i currently have.
Any suggestions?

Earbuds vs. IEMs is always tricky for me, because my main focus is on the latter. Audio Technica C505i is a good option, but if you only want them for podcasts, then you may just want whatever is cheapest.
As for in-ears, have you ever tried them with foam tips? It's entirely different than silicone/rubber tips. I find myself having no problem with keeping mine in all day (with clean ears, I clean mine daily, wax makes them itch in my ears). Of course, if my memory serves me right, you do most of your music listening with HD650s, right? Then you probably have little need for anything more than basic earbuds.
How much were you looking to pay? You can easily spend over £100 on earbuds, or spend under £10. An inline adaptor would be cheapest and seems to fit your needs.

Those Audio Technica look perfect. I can't find out much information about the remote though. Do you think it'll work with the Headset Button Controller app?
You're right. I use HD650 at home for music, Soundmagic E10 at the gym, and Sennheiser earphones at work for podcasts. My Shure SE530 are gathering dust in my drawer!

I haven't had a pair that wouldn't work with it yet. If the middle button works, HBC should let you do everything you need from the center button.
I've yet to get my hands on Audio Technica with a remote, though.

Will soon find out. I've ordered a pair! Thanks for the recommendation mate. Providing they both work, whether i use these or the Samsung ones might depend on how easy the access is to the remote while i'm using them. Ideally the remotes would be at the jack end near my pocket, but they'll probably at the business end where i'd have to dig under my jumper to reach it somehow!
We'll see!

Yep those are the ones
They only came in white for the Galaxy S3 as far as I know. In Australia that is.

So the first of my orders to arrive was a Belkin In-line Adaptor. It's handy because it puts the controls near my pocket where i can get to them easily, and it works with any headphones. Designed to work with iPod though so i didn't expect much.
With and without the HBC app the Middle Button does Play/Pause.
With and without the HBC app the other buttons don't function at all.
No Double Click functionality either way and long-press launches Google Now.
Play/Pause was what i needed the most so it's a start. I'll test the other 3-Button earphones when they arrive.
Edit: Both the Audio Technica and Samsung's arrived too. The former are really good quality with great construction. You definitely get what you pay for! They're comfortable and sound great. As far as the remote though, they behave exactly as above. Play/Pause only on middle button, with or without the app.
The Samsung's are in ear which is no good for me, but i bought them more out of curiosity than anything else. They do indeed work as Peanuts said. Volume Up/Volume Down, as well as Play/Pause. This was the same, with or without the app. It seems the app isn't capable of doing anything on the Nexus 5 as yet.
The Audio Technica pair will replace the cheepo Sennheisers i was using for podcast listening and i'm already finding the Play/Pause functionality indispensible.

A-Jays five?
So bought the A-Jays five: http://www.jays.se/a-jays-five At present I have the Nexus 4. Did not realise that three button headsets don't work with the Nexus 4. They however work with the wife's Note 3. I will eventually upgrade to the Nexus 5, once the price drops in HK. Any idea if the A-Jays five will work with the Nexus 5? I have asked Jays, they say they haven't as yet tested the Nexus 5 with the a-Jays five (ironic naming btw).

Headphones....

Did this thing not come with headphones? I don't have any in my box....
Every review on the web shows the same. This phone simply wasn't packaged with some...it's likely that you'll already have some anyways or you'll eventually get a better pair than they would have ever packaged.
You're probably right but I wanted to test out the FM Radio real quick and low and behold...
The no headphones is surprising, but with a retail cost of 450.00, you can't expect much. I would rather pay less and skip the headphones and mini hdmi cable than pay for them and not use them. I like the headphones I already own. Bundled headphones generally suck anyways. At least my iphone headphones suck that is.
i have these
i love these headphones
http://shop.v-moda.com/p-46-vibe-ii-w-mic.aspx
Also if you wana go alittle cheaper then the V-moda Vibe II, the V-moda Faze are extremly good too, thats what i ended up getting, they run about $49.99 and exellent sound quality and build!
I use super cheap OEM blackberry headphones I get off ebay for like $3 a pair. As far as comfort and sound quality go they seem way better than the other super cheap and kinda nice headphones I have
There's better IEM headphones than any of the V-Moda models for less $ or about the same price imo... MEElectronics M9P, Nuforce NE-7M, Maximo iP-HS5, etc. Head-Fi.org is a great resource for all things headphones. I just bought the MEElec M9P last week and I've been trying 'em out today, I got 'em for $22 w/S&H but I think they went back up in price to $35 (the others are around $50).
I think they're a noticeable step up in quality from the other mic-less IEMs I already had, Sennheiser CX300 and JVC HA-FX34 Marshmallows... Those two are fairly common at retail stores so if you've ever owned either of them you have a fairly good point of reference.
After reading a few threads at HF I ended up w/the MEElec because of the relative SQ to price, and the fact that they have one of the best cords of any IEMs under $100... Hardly any microphonics at all, virtually none if worn over the head (microphonics = cord noise when it bounces or rubs against stuff). It's got like two layers or something (one of them is translucent so it's obvious).
Pretty high quality stuff, nice hockey-stick shaped plug, nice metal casings, comes with 5 different sets of tips (regular single flanges in three sizes and dual-flange tips in two colors) and a bunch of other accessories including a nice hard case that's slimmer than most of those types of cases I've seen. Highly recommended, I like them a lot more than my Senn or JVC (and I paid like $50 for the Senns around 5 years ago, $20 for the JVC recently). I've not been able to test the mic yet since my EVO hasn't arrived and I didn't feel like doing it with the iPod touch's sound recorder or something.

Does the V-Moda Faze have call answer functions?
EDIT***
I went ahead and bought the FAZE and wow, the sound is great and yes it works for answering/hanging up calls as well as playing music.
Anyone know/test normal apple ipod headphones? I have a pair and they're my usual set and I was wondering if any of the integrated controls (mic, volume up/down, push to pause etc.) work or if anyone knew.
Today I went down to mobilecityonline located in Canal street and purchased the Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth stereo headset for use with my EVO 4G.
At the moment it is charging [at least 8hrs], but I wanted to know if anyone it using this particular device?
Once I get it up and running, I will let you guys know how compatible it is with the EVO. Hopefully all the functions will work and I don't have to return it.
update 06/08/10
Well with alot of playing around and trying a few different audio apps, I got the MW600 to function the way I wanted, which saved me from returning it.
My main concern was being able to use the controls on the device, and I was only able to do so with an app called bTunes.
I had no luck with the stock Android music player nor with another App called
Audio Player WithEQ Platinum
Although those two did play via the bluetooth unit, I was not able to use none of the control functions.
With bTunes, I was able to play, pause, and use the forward and backward functions.
On a side note, the headphones that came with the MW600 are very short, but they sound very good. I ended up using my Klipsch Image S4i which I was using previously with my 3GS.
Hope this meets you all well.
Cheers !

anyone have any experience with the inner ear apple headphones they cost 69.99$ i ordered a pair with my iPad(figured i could use em with all my gadgets)
The controls on the Ultimate Ears Superfi 5Vi's are able to pause/play music along with voice dial and answer/hang up
Those V-modo's look cool, but honestly for the price they lack key features:
1- IN-line volume control. not a digital one like iphone headsets, but a slider on it, like the OEM mogul shipped with.
2.- for that price, and especially since it is coated in so much metal, it should have an inline radiation deadener- nobody wants radiation from their phone being transmitted right into their eardrums, especially since the 3.5mm port on our evo's acts as the FM antenna --- that is just insulting
At least from my experience with this device....
You are better off with using bluetooth headphones that can do MP3 bluetooth decoding and using Meridian as the music player. The truth is that while the headphone out is decently clean, it has a relatively high output impedance and not much driving capability. You are much better off getting some headphones with imp between 32-60ohms and at least 97db efficiency and not getting something too nice to use direct.
There is also the issue of when this is hooked up with grounding loop noise if you hook up your headphones to the output. Why the engineers who would put together such a media centric device would not think of such simple things is beyond me, but the iPod does it too and it is a pure music player.
If you happen to use a headphone amplifier, then you can use what you want because the audio signal will likely be free of much ground noise and have a really nice spectrum to it (much better than even my line out was on my iPhone....though not better than my modded iPod Touch).
If someone wants to work on USB host audio drivers I would be elated, willing to help as well. I can even make a custom hardware I/O box for the Evo!
I bought the Bose in-ear ones from Best Buy. I'm going to return them though. The sound is not as vibrant and alive as from my stereo BT set (S9-HD)

Is the volume using the iphone headset loud enough for you? I've tried it and it's too low and the people I'm trying to talk with sounds like they are fading in and out.
I'm thinking of returning since I can't even use it as a phone with the wired headset.

quality headsets with microphone

I looking to buy a quality headsets with microphone that will be compatible with my Galaxy S2.

Could you please elaborate. I'm pretty new to this so I apologize.
How would this work? Through bluetooth? RF signal?
Haven't bought any of the brands above so am not sure.
Also what kind of adapter with remote do I need to buy? (Name?)
Any links if possible would be great for both.

Get a SonyEricsson MW600 bluetooth adaptor and plug any headphone you want in. It has Play, Pause, Back, Forward, Volume buttons and microphone. Problem solved.
Thanks for the quick response - will check them out. Which earphone would you say is the best on audio quality for listening to music (as well as using it for handsfree)?

The problem with Bluetooth remote's is that the audio stream get's compressed, so that kinda defeats the purpose of getting high end ear/headphones. As technology stands today, wired is the only way to go for achieving the best sound quality.
I suppose the real question is this:
For ear/headphone microphone sets that we know work with the SGS2 (such as the one that came in the box) which have four connectors, I suppose the next thing to try is to see whether or not ear/headphones designed for iPhones will work correctly. If iPhone designed headphones work properly (including all controls etc.) then this makes finding a decent pair of working earphones a HELL of a lot easier.
I think that the headsets that comes with the device are quality, dont you think so ?
yesterday i bought the "Bose MIE2" and they are just great.
link for the international site
there are not many controls. just one button that lets you pick up/hang up calls and play/pause/skip music. thats more than enough for me.
the sound is so great but the best thing is the design of the speakers itself.
there is something called "Stay here" attached to them, which makes it almost impossible for them to drop out of your ear.
this works so well that i am even considering to use them for sports too...
unfortunately they cost about 130€ which is a lot. but for me the quality makes it worth it!
So far i'm enjoying the phonak pfe122 on my S2. Sound level seems to have improved possibly due to better isolation and clarity is second to none
I haven't had the opportunity to try out as many earbuds as this guy but his opinion in iem/earbuds is very similar to mine
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showpost.php?p=128853&postcount=1
I've bought A-Jays Four and for the price range they just sound amazing. As for inline remote, only middle button works, but thats enough in my case.

The MIE2I's are excellent imho, but like most others the volume buttons don't work with the SGS2.
Headset button controller app is workable and for me worth the hassle to use these headphones.
Mic works well. No one has complained about the quality when I call them.
Totally agree with nimroth. Very few earphones will stay in my weird ears, but these are perfect.

i meant a wired adapter not a bluetooth one, bluetooth is not reccomended for high end headphones especially because flac and uncompressed formats are of a way to high bitrate to stream correctly
if i meant bluetooth i would've said so , i haven't tested any with my sgs as i dont have access to any atm but what i would do is find the cheapest possible headphones with remotes that work maybe even old htc ones or something laying around, then cut off the headphones above the mic/remote section and attach a 3.5mm jack so i can use my Q-jays
least that is my plan.
the loss of quality from the extension will be negligible and either way the sound out of any phone cannot compete with high end audio device anyway, so if you really care about audio quality start carrying a Cowon player.

just for you in case you didnt know: there are two different models:
- the "mie2" only have the mike and ONE button for pause/play/skip/accept or end call (those are the ones i have)
- the "mie2i" are the ones for the iphone and have more buttons (like volume and stuff)
just like MarkyH said the mike-quality is really good (maybe because it is quite next to your mouth), but the volume controls wont work with the sgs2 and most other phones because of a different framework.
i decided to buy the mie2 because i dont mind the missing volume controls or the "one track back" button...
Thank you Nimroth and Also thanks to MarkyH..
Good to know that the headset mie2i works well i.e compatible with SGS2 except for the volume controller.
I've already one and I going to get SGS2 soon.

[Q]"Best" Headset for Note?

Hi all,
I'm wondering what headset (Bluetooth/Wired) you use for your Note? I'm using Marshall Minor, but I still find the volume not loud enough.
Would any of you recommend something else? I live in Hong Kong which is fairly noisy, so something that has good volume would be great.
Thanks in advance!
I haven't got a Note yet, but I use the Sony MW600 bluetooth headset with my HD2. And I'd be lost without it - best thing I've bought!
No problems syncing to the device, it has remote control (pause, next/previous), hands free talk as it has built in mic, and comes with in ear buds, which are very good indeed. They block out quite a bit of external noise too, but you can plug in any headset you want to it if you want to go to higher spec headphones. Battery lasts about 10 hours continuous use, and it will re-charge of your Note's charger.
I'm not an audiophile, but I do like music. And it does me fine.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.ph...w600---black?gclid=CLftmIS1n6wCFYEZ4QodOzpc_Q
Edit - Just had a look at the Marshalls, and these would offer a tighter fit in the ear then the Marshalls, so would block out more external noise. I wear mine in work, even if i'm not listening to music. I work in the print industry with loud machinery, and they are better than the ear plugs we get given, which reduce external noise by 27 dB. If I'm listening to music in work while my machines are running, and you want to chat - then you ain't gonna get through unless you're in my face!

That's a pretty sweet headset. How much does it stick out after you put it on? Does it get loose easily? I used to own a pair of the Sony is800 headset and it would fall out easily. I was wondering if this is the same.

I'm currently using the Jaybird JFM3, its not bad but the mic is not that good when it comes to calls.

My previous headset was the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800
Compared to the Sonys:
- They seem to fit better in my ear (they come with 3 different bud sizes)
- The earbuds are slightly larger and so I guess they do stick out a little more, though I haven't noticed any issue with it
- An extra 2 hours of call/music time
- Have FF/RW controls as well as volume adjust (The Sony's only have Play/Pause/Answer)
- I haven't had any issues with people hearing me or me hearing other people when using them, but I've yet to test them somewhere really noisy
- They come in Red (if that's your thing)

Thanks for the comparison. How's the sound quality compare to the Sony?
I was thinking about this but didnt bother getting one once i saw the Note, not as big as the press would have u believe!
I was considering the NOKIA J - i has a small clipable dock so i wouldnt have to have it in the ear all the time...
3 months standby time
Auto answer when taken out of dock
Few more feature i cant remember now, worth having a look at.

Besides being a gadget phone nut I am also a sick buyer of headsets. I have been in search of the perfect headset forever ..
There is one by Sony that I love the way it fits. They don't make it any more and every now and then I find one on eBay ..
I have the Sennheiser bluetooth headset. If you look hard you can find one new on eBay most of the time for about $60 .. I like that one a lot because I have small ear holes and those go on the outside of your ear ..
I also have 2 Bang & Olafsen bluetooth headsets .. One left ear which I am keeping and the other right ear which I am gonna sell when I find it .. I also have the wired Bang & Olafsen head set. I read that it has a teeny tiny microphone somewhere .. I don't know if that is my model .. use it for listening to music ..
I actually have a box of discarded bluetooth headsets. I should put them all together in one lot and sell them. Maybe I will do that today. Don't know if I can find all the chargers though .. They are all discarded because I find them uncomfortable to wear.
For music or movies I use the Sennheiser M400s which have a nice balanced sound and good battery life. For calls, it's hard to go past the Plantronics Discovery 975 - small and sleek, super comfortable to wear, and really good battery life (especially with the included charging case).......
I can't wear anything that doesn't go around the ear. And if it goes in the ear, ugh. After a half hour I have to take it out because it gets painful. Maybe if I had bigger ears .. or Man Ears .. it wouldn't be so bad. They are doing hearing aid implants now, maybe they could do a little bluetooth implant ??

Any chance you can take a picture with the headset on? I want to see how it looks on and have an idea on how much it sticks out. I cannot find a pic or review anywhere for this headset.
I got these 2 days ago from Amazon:
amazon.de/Philips-SHB9001-00-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B00424O4RU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320610417&sr=8-1[/url]
the quality while talking is not the best but its enough for me.
Despite the positive comments about the quality of just listening to music, i can hear some "scratches" when a song gets "heavier". This is my first BT Headset so maybe its normal for BT headsets, or i just overlooked a setting i have to change in the Software.. Hint, anyone?

Hi all,
I'm wondering what headset (Bluetooth/Wired) you use for your Note? I'm using Marshall Minor, but I still find the volume not loud enough.
Would any of you recommend something else? I live in Hong Kong which is fairly noisy, so something that has good volume would be great.
Thanks in advance!

Do you have a budget in mind? I think we can offer better suggestions if you give us a budget range.
I use Sennheiser IE8 connected to a Sony/Ericsson Bluetooth receiver on the go, and a small digital analog converter/amplifier by NuFore together with the headphones when working.

Hi, thanks for replying. I do not have a budget in mind, my usual principle is to pay what's worth its salt.
So far, everyone's recommended bluetooth wireless headsets, I'm not a big fan of charging stuff, having need to recharge my phone nightly already. But if there are no better wired devices out there, I might as well get Bluetooth because call quality is more important to me than music quality which my Marshall Minor does just fine.
I'm looking for a $100 max wired in-hear headset with mike and very complete remote too. It seems Android is not very friendly with those at all, so I'm thinking I'll have to go Bluetooth. What I found:
- http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/mc2.html, if their software works on Note (untested)
- a-JAYS One+, coming in Dec.: http://www.jays.se/products/earphones/a-jays-one-plus.html (uses software too)
- Sennheiser just confirmed they have nothing wired.
- Klipsch: Image S4A http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones being adapted for S2, Note = S2 ?
- Samsung: told me to go f... (...ind a solution by) myself
Soft: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kober.headset , and others, look for "headset control". This one has a trial version, yeahhhh ^^
EDIT: I'm putting everything worthwhile I find in this post, so as not to spread it all over the place.

I am very happy with my Bang and Olefsen wired headset ..
hi all... just like to pop a quick question:
does the Gnote able to accept the standard wired headphones w/mic from other brands for example: UE? i am on galaxy S and i have been searching for headphone w/mic to replace the original ones from samsung but as usual when i connect other brands of headphone w/mic to my S; all i can hear is the music.. whenever i am making calls the headphone fails me...

Bluetooth earphones

Hey guys, I'm looking for some bluetooth headphones and hope some of you have some experience and can help me.
Basically I'm looking for something like this: (just so you get a rough idea) http://www.desinformado.com/wp-cont...lantronics-backbeat-go-wireless-earphones.jpg
They should:
- be light
- Have a runtime of >=5 hours
- be easy to use while doing sports
- Not cost more than 60€
- have a play/pause button, maybe a next/previous song button as well
If you have any experience and can help me, I'd be grateful
ditto...
I'm interested as well...
I have sony Ericsson sterio Bluetooth headphones
Have many many features and with radio and can ne used on two phones at the same time

SE MW-600?
I have been looking/googling for these last week.
SE MW-600 has many purpose. can be used for sports(in ear buds but still might fall). same with Samsung HS3000(cheapest of them all). There is also the Jabra clipper and jabra Sport.
with your budget of 60 euros, you can get the sample that you gave(Plantronics/there was one online with a hook). or you can find the one from motorolla (S10HD)but the reviews were not good regarding audio quality.
Just to give you a bigger choice: You don't need pause, skip etc. buttons.
One button is enough, then you can remap them for example like this: one click: play; two clicks; pause; long click; skip one click, long press; skip backward.
And as far as I know, Android doesn't support more than one button, so this is anyway nonsensical.
Hello,
I have 2 BT headphones, Sony Ericsson MW600 and Jaybird Freedom, I just the first at work and the latter in the gym, specially to run.
Feature wise, MW600 has that beautiful oled display which not only shows the phone number for incoming calls but also the artist/song name while listening to music. It also has 5 buttons for play/pause, next, previous, power, answer/hangup. The volume is controled in a "touch strip" so you slide your finger to one side to increase the volume and to the other to decrease it. Honestly I'd like better if there where regular volume buttons, instead of this "touch strip", but it isn't really a problem for me.
This headset has the advantage of having a 3.5mm connector for the earphone so you can easily replace it in case yours break or use the one you like better.
As for the Jaybird Freedom has no display, but has 4 buttons for play/pause, volume up/next, volume down/previous and power. The main advantage of this headset IMHO is his design, meaning that the whole unit (battery, earpieces, bluetooth receiver etc) are a single unit so you won't have any gadget dangling as you run or workout, it just stays in place, sturdy in my ear. The downside of this approach are the slightly bulk earpieces, but this don't bother me at all.
Sorry if the text got a little long, but I wanted to pass along my experience with these 2.
Edit: I use both with my Galaxy S II, but I also used it with the Motorola Atrix I had.
Best regards,
Fernando Toledo

I have been using the Backbeat 903 from Plantronics for quite a while and I am very satisfied with it. It's not as tiny and the Backbeat Go but it is lightweight and got all buttons functionality. A search on ebay will land you prices less than $50.
Hope this helps
I'm using the Samsung Hs 3000 BT earphones. They cost about 30 Euro, are easy to use and perfect for sports! They can be fixed to clothes and even survived my washing mashine.
I had Plantronics Backbeat 903+ , I used them for running and biking but they aren't sweatproof and after some trainings I sent them back to the reseller because they started to work bad. I suggest H2O Audio products if you want something sweatproof and waterproof.
I found my Beats Bluetooth Headset fully functional on my Wanamlite ROM.
Inclues: Next and Previous Track, Play /Pause, Answer / Drop Calls and Volume Controls.
Makes my music life... wireless! XD
I've taken a look at all of them. H2o audio seems great, but I don't understand why they don't offer bluetooth headsets. They are making waterproof gear, but do not offer bluetooth for that???
Anyway, the jaybird freedom seems awesome, I'm going to get those, thanks man

Lg hbs 700
Been using the LG HBS 700 for the past year. Absolutely awesome!
Has play, pause, next, back and volume controls as well as a call buton which can allso be used for initiating a voice call via voice command.
Very light, doesn't look dorky and sweat resistant I would say,
Bought directly from LG on eBay for around £40 - seller not there anymore though.

Motorola S305
I have Motorola S305. It's good for me. I'm using for play music and runnig. Sound it's stereo. Have buttons to control next, prev, play, pause, voice call...

Good luck
Try the Jabra Sport headset. I'm sure you can get it in your price range if you shop around (amazon, ebay, etc)
http://www.jabra.com/Products/Bluetooth/JABRA_SPORT/Jabra_SPORT
Loving my new SE-MW600
I am using Jabra Street 2 and they are perfect for me.
I use the HM3700 by Samsung. Nice earphone. Excellent sound quality with two caveats:
The bloody app doesn't work for me but it does for others and the connector on the earphone is microUSB so when your battery FINALLY depletes (lasts for a tidy minute).... you're stuck without headphones as you can't use them without the bluetooth connector (which doubles as a monoheadset too).
It's ergonomic and comfortable though.

Earphones for Nexus 5

Can somebody please suggest a earphone for nexus 5? I am looking for a in-earphone for my nexus 5. My usage is mainly for making phone calls and listening to few podcasts. I would prefer something between $20 - $30.

I had seen this before posting. My concerns with this are
1) Battery consumption (because of bluetooth)
2) I will be little uncomfortable to have something around my neck.
3) Fear of dropping them.
4) Looking at them they look hard (unable to fold) so storing in small bag pockets will be an issue.
5) Price (ouch little too much).

I'd recommend looking into LG Quadbeat 2, or spend slightly more on Brainwavz R1.
I believe some of the Soundmagic earphones have mic/remote but also look into Meelectronics.
Keep in mind, I'll never recommend something that won't have "better than expected" sound quality, so if you do listen to music, you'll be pleased.

Well technically, if all you need is a mic, every set of wired earbuds out there comes with one. The left earbud is both a speaker and a mic, so if you really wanted to, you could answer your phone calls by popping your left earbud out and talking into that.
Saves you the trouble if you have a nice set of buds already! Now controls and volume are a different matter! heh.

I question the validity of this working while plugged into the headphone port.
What I have experienced, is the mic on the phone working with headphones plugged in.

Have you tried it? It does work.
I've answered calls with various earbuds and I just did it with now with my JVC HA-FX3X earphones in my Nexus 5.
You can do a google search for left earphone is a microphone and you'll find various results.
This person did it with it hooked up to a mixer, then to a camera, but I just did it hooked to the headphone jack in the Nexus 5. Works the same.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1YH7fuXk8I
If the mic on the headset is important (it is to me), then it can be a pain to find a pair that works well.
I have tried a few popular models (BT and wired) and none of them work well. The microphone is always muffled and quiet.
Eventually I settled on the (grasp) Apple Earpod, which is actually a brilliant set. The microphone is loud and clear and the sound quality is decent for what it is. The volume buttons expectedly don't work, but the center button works and you can always use an app like Headset Button Controller.
