Hello,
I'm using baliboxer's GENNXT ROM (Build num: XUBMHD, Baseband Version XUBMF2) in my GT-I9082
I've just installed very minimum user apps( 651 MB out of 4GB intrenal memory, this includes GAPPS too) and i've not installed a single game.
I'm using ROM ToolBox Pro to define the apps that has to be run on the background( which,i believe,is similar to using 'Greenify')
But my device eats up too much RAM to the extent that i do not even find 100MB of free RAM space out of 804MB.
This makes my device too laggy and i cant navigate gallery and camera app (though no FC in any of the app).
I'm a complete noob, so plz guide me to make my device better.
Waiting for ur suggestions guys!!!

Firstly, you can and you should "Turn off"/disable, if not uninstall, any app like SVoice, Samsung Apps, Google+ etc that you don't use (please dont remove the apps without icons/names like com.Something, that you don't know what it does), even if they came preinstalled with the ROM. You can do this by going to Settings>Applications>swipe to the right till you are on All Applications, just scroll through here and disable them if you dont need them. This will let them be in your system without letting them start up at all by any app until you enable it.
Secondly, ROM ToolBox is NOT similar to Greenify. ROM Toolbox is a heavy app with a LOT of triggers that can make itself run all the time in your phone. ROM Toolbox does offer you to select permission alteration for each app, but it doesn't actually stop them after they are executed already, which is why I avoid installing ROM Toolbox now, but that's just my opinion.
This is something Greenify beautifuly covers. You can select all apps, (excluding the one you use to keep you updated like Phone, messaging, whatsapp, googleplay etc). They will have smooth unaltered functionality when you open them but they will not run in the background (which is the main reason for your RAM usage). And best of all, Greenify only uses 3.7~4Mb RAM to keep your apps in check with no triggers except to start a process on boot.
You can use several memory cleaners but honestly you won't need them if you do both the above things right.
if you still need more, you can check out my thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476926

This is highly dependent on the ROM in what codebase is it using [be it ICS, JB, Gignergread whatever], what apps it installs, what is in use when you check the free RAM, what you check as free RAM [some apps count the cached data as RAM, some give you the direct free RAM]. What apps you had in your /data if you did not wipe it. Etc Etc Etc
This is very subjective to just ask for and hard to give a direct answer on.
For instance I am running ParanoidAndroid and have around 135 apps and right now I just ran Fast Engine Flush [a script found in Supercharger V6 search XDA it is super popular and easy to find]. it is stating I have 163M of true free RAM [not counting cache].
If you want to try download Supercharger V6 script [don't worry about any modifications to services.jar or anything else talked about I am not having you do a supercharge on your device just run it, and when you get through the settings walkthrough [just say no to run on boot to any scripts [first run runs through like install type options],
Once you see the main menu put in the number for Fast Engine Fush and hit enter when prompted. After running it from inside script you can use script manager to got to /sdcard/Supercharger_V6 and set a shortcut right to fast engine flush [I use Script manager widget on my home screen even]
That way it not only can tell you how much RAM you have it clears out the stuff in use that is not needed and if you set it on home screen you can tap it there anytime to just clear the RAM [say right before playing a game] for the best performance [memory wise].
Hey guys, there are several application in Play Market that are either related to a specific kernel (a manager app) or a ROM (like Darky's ROM app from the days of Gingerbread and Froyo), or useful apps like ROM Toolbox
But how many apps of that kind are there and how are they named?
What I suggest is to create a full list of such applications, divided into few categories like "Kernel specific", "ROM specific", "ROM customization", and so on.
Only ones I know are:
ROM Manager (and the PRO version)
Goo.im manager
ROM Toolbox (and the PRO version)
TricksterMod (for kernel management)
Direct Play Market links for the apps are also welcome
I think this is a great idea. But you might want to include the creator/developer for each as well.

Nope, because "root app" is meaningless except being a prerequisite.
Although above post has some point I'll chime in with some very useful apps:
-Greenify It lets you hibernate apps when screen is off to save battery.
- Systemcleanup. Helps a lot to update system apps and eliminate them also. It's also good to clean cache.
- Orange backup. Makes nandroid backups without having to reboot to recovery and also has the ability to upload them to google drive etc... It has support for both TWRP and CWM.

I have Xperia Arc S (Lt18i)..
Installed Atomic GB 7, and I noticed that the TOTAL RAM (free+used) is only 250MB..
Is it normal depending the apps I used?
Previously, using the same apps combination, using Xperia Ultimate HD 3, the TOTAL is 350MB..
Emm something wrong?
Emm, btw, I modded this ROM :
- the framework and systemUI, decompiled it and recompiling again..
- I deleted many, really many system apps.. This is what I remember :
* GoogleCalendarSync
* CoreNotificationPublisher
* NotificationsProvider
* ContactsImport
* Gmail
* Talk2
* Textinput
* Widgets
* AudioEffectService
* etc
Does this 2 factors affecting the TOTAL RAM?
Screenshots in the attachment..
Please help guys..
Did you installed the Atomic GB's Arc S patch? http://d-h.st/DVY
I think you did a mistake while flashing rom or missed something. I use atomic v7 with stock kernel on my arc, total ram is about 320-330mb and there is no lag. Flash stock ftf and root & cwm then try re flashing rom with reading installation.
The arc S patch is already there.. Emm, btw, I modded this ROM :

Then you should have stated that in your OP, so the fact that others aren't having the same problems, the issue is YOU, and without listing every change you have made, it's kind of hard to help you figure out your experimentation.
First you need Root Explorer app. Go to C:\System\apps folder. Press the "Mount R/W" button on the upper right side of the screen. Delete apps you don't need. For example Gmail or Exchange service.
Warning: Don't delete apps you don't know what they are. The most critical apps are there and if you delete them you're device may misbehave.
Why don't you want to switch to JB? There you have still ~300 Mbyte RAM, and your phone is much smoother (just my opinion).

Yes, I mean the RAM.. not internal memory.. I stated in the OP, I deleted many system apps already.
Is JB worth to try? Is it smoother than stock GB? I hardly can believe that JB is smoother, because naturally JB needs dual core and 1GB ram..

i tried JB once before and never wanted to try it anymore. Maybe because i chose wrong/still underdevelopment ROM. :laugh:
I can't say which one is smoother though as it really depends on what apps you have.
Personally i use the UHD ROM by jader13254 and it's working really good and smooth.
Android uses some of the RAM, you just don't see it.
I recommend controlling your app's autoruns, can be modified in Autorun Manager or Autostarts in Playstore. there's no problem in removing system apps. I uninstalled also Market Updater, Search Applications Provider(20MB Ram-used for ads, recommendations to you by play store), AccessoryKeyDispatcher, i don't remember others
Apps I also removed but not really advisable: Customization Settings, DownloadAgent, UserAgentProvider, Customized App Installer
or If you want higher ram, adjust vm.dirty_ratio=70, vm.dirty_background_ratio=50, vm.vfs_cache_pressure=10. (higher ram but laggy, i recommend dirty_ratio to be 95 and dirty_background_ratio=60)
I have LT15i and my phone can play Dungeon Hunter 4, Bladeslinger, MC4 with no lag and no oc.
Hey, mate. Let me tell you my trick to solve this issue.
Facebook apps need a lot of resource, both Processor and RAM. Since the app will render image, JavaScript, and HTML 5. Our device is low-end-device which is having bad Processor and Memory (RAM). To solve this issue, we need to give a lot of free space of RAM and Processor.
NOTE: We can't do much things to solve the App, but we can manage Processor and Memory consumption
I usually using greenify at this point.
Skip * steps if you're using greenify free version
1. Install Greenify(Free version is OK though)
2. Install SuperSU. I recommend this app if you having issue the apps are not hibernated automatically when the device is entering sleep mode.
* 3. Install Xposed Installer
4. (skip this step if you already have superSU) Open SuperSU, then update SU binary through CWM - the phone will reboot to recovery and updating SU binary automatically
* 5. Open Xposed Installer - Choose Framework - Choose Install / Update
* 6. Reboot
* 7. Open Xposed Installer - Choose Modules - Check Greenify
* 8. Reboot
9. Open Greenify - Tap on + Icon
10. Choose any apps you want to hibernate
* TIPS *
- If you using Hangouts with SMS / MMS feature, don't greenify this app. Otherwise, you won't get any notification when new SMS is arrived.
- Don't greenify (hibernate) Instant Messaging like WhatsApp, LINE, etc. BBM using a lot of RAM, you can greenify this app to get rid of lag.
11. When you're done with those apps, tap option button (Letf soft key from "HOME" hard key) - Still in greenify
12. Choose Experimental features
13. Check boost mode
14. Check Keep Notifications
15. Check Wake-up Tracker & Cutoff
16. Check Block App State Abuse
Don't wory with dark options, those option are only available on Donation Package. That's it, and you are done.
NB:
- I don't care if I can't receive notification from Facebook immediately. I'd rather keep my phone cold, calm, and my battery is save.
- If you like Greenify App, Please Buy Donation Package on Google Play
You don´t need Xposed if you are just using the free version of Greenify.
You only need it when you are willing to use the paid donation version to greenify system apps too. So you tutorial is either not complete or you skipped this information for some reason.

But this is not the fault of Greenify but because FB is so bloated. Personally this is a must have app and if you ask me it should be part of each Android ROM or at least something simmilar build in.

In kitkat 4.4 , when you install xposed framework, the runtime changing won't work.
If you remove it, it works.So those those who change runtimes can forget Xposed Framework.

Top 20 Best Apps for Rooted Android Devices
rootedapps
Today, we’ll see some really good, and also popular, apps that can help you get most out of your Android device. As the very title of the present article makes it evident, all these apps require root access to function. And therefore, you must have a rooted device before you can use them.
So, here begins our list of some of the best apps, in no particular order, for rooted Android phones and tablet devices.
1. Superuser app
This is the ultimate root app, without Superuser app, there is no list of root apps actually. This application provides root access to other apps requesting it. It shows a prompt on screen when any of your app tries to have root access. This is the ultimate app which manages overall root rights. So this clearly is a must have app for rooted devices. This app is mostly installed automatically while rooting your device, many times it’s included in the root exploit toolkit. However, if you rooted your device and you cant find superuser in the menu, you need to insall this app. It’s there on Google Play.

2. JuiceDefender Ultimate
The bigger the screen, the better the fun, isn’t it? We all like a smartphone or tablet with a big screen that show everything with minutest detail and vivid colors. In most cases, OEM’s use battery according to the screen size of a device. Then why it is that the bigger the screen, the least the battery runs? You’ll hardly find a guy who is happy with the battery performance. In a situation where we cannot extend the capacity of the battery of our device, it’s wise to manage the battery power to get better performance out of it. Battery drain is the biggest concern of any smartphone user but if you have root, you can enjoy better performance using a 3rd-party power-save app.
JuiceDefender-Ultimate
While you can find hundreds of battery-saver apps at the Play Store, there are just a few that really possess the magic wand. And among such apps, JuiceDefender Ultimate is probably the king of all. It is a mighty power manager app packed with advanced functions that controls, checks and manages all features and resources that devour the battery juice of your device. The app employs a bunch of effective measures to give you the best possible battery backup, and it does so by intelligently managing the channels that suck the battery most. It features highly customizable options to curb battery drain and get it up to your expectations.

3. Xposed Framework
Root access on an Android device gives you the license to do almost anything and when it comes to personalization of your device, modifying the available features and adding new things to it, Xposed Framework is an ultimate tool. It is a custom framework that replaces the default framework of your devices and adds the ability to be modified via compatible modules.
xposed-framework-for-android
The presence on Xposed framework and its modules ensure that you get the power to control the visual elements on your device in your hands. You can customize things like the statusbar items, notification panels, extend reboot menu options, enable call recording, manage connectivity features, install third-party icon packs on stock launcher and thousands of such tasks very easily without having the knowledge of editing system apps and XML codes. To read more about Xposed Framework and its modules, please head over to our detailed article.

4. Overclocking your phone
This one feature is bound to increase your phone’s overall performance. You might have heard of overclocking your computer’s processor or GPU. You can do the same with your Android devices too. Stock kernels does not allow you to overclock your phone, so in order to achieve that, one must have to flash a custom kernel which supports overclocking. Overclocking is a risky thing and can cause severe damage to your phone, one must not overclock it all the way high. After flashing a custom kernel, you must use any of the overclocking apps found on the Play Store. I will suggest using CPU Tuner. It’s free and gets the job done pretty easily, it can also help you underclock and can be a potential battery saver as well.

5. The ultimate after root utility- ROM Toolbox
The name must be familiar to you. This is the app which will really make you believe that you have rooted your device for good. It combines all the great root apps into one simple and easy to use application. It has a beautiful and easy to use interface and it nearly has every tool to make your device fast and customized to your taste. It has already been featured on various respected sites. Some of the features include: Installing ROMs, custom themes, taking ROM backups, app manager, freezing and defrosting apps, removing system apps, cache cleaner, root explorer, scripts and terminal emulator, system rebooter (recovery, power down, bootloader, restart status bar, etc.), boot animation changer, CPU tweaker, SD booster and many more! Features list can hardly finish here. I’ll recommend getting a premium version of the app so it will unlock many features which are not there in the free version. Highly recommended!

6. Tasker
Extending our list of best apps for rooted devices, I’m now going to talk about an app that hardly requires any introduction if you not a novice with Android. Tasker for Android is a must have app if you are an advanced or power user, but it offers much even if you are new to it. It is a kind of personal genie that is capable of granting your daily mobile wishes.

Tasker is a task control and automation tool that, if used wisely, can multiply your mobile experience many times. The app has lots of advanced features that let you program your devices by adding tasks to make your device do things according to the rules defined by you. 8. Greenify
While apps like JuiceDefender Ultimate and ROM ToolBox Pro aim at giving you better battery life and enhanced performance on your Android device respectively, Greenify targets both ends at the same time. Greenify lets you select apps that remain active and run as background processes even when they are not actively running. Now, such apps not only eat your phone’s ROM, making it slow and laggy, but also keep draining the precious battery juice continuously.
greenify-root-for-android
If you are one who is fond of installing a lot of apps, Greenify can save you from being worried about performance and battery life. It lets you identify rogue apps and allows you put them in hibernation mode so that they do not keep eating CPU and RAM resources and leeching battery power. The app is pretty easy to use. Simply add the applications you want to hibernate when they move to the background, and let Greenify do its spell. To read more about Greenify, click here.

9. Clean those bloats!
This is a dream feature for rooted users. Having the bloatwares that comes pre-installed when you buy a new device can be a real pain. These bloatwares are not regularly installed apps, they are installed in system partitions which has read-only access and cannot be uninstalled using the normal uninstall procedure. When you are rooted, you get the power to clean the unnecessary, unused apps. Procedure is very easy, just install any of the root uninstaller apps and get those bloats removed.

10. Titanium Backup
Good battery life, awesome performance and cool customization— we have seen one or more apps for these things. Now let’s see another must have and one of the most rated apps for rooted Android devices. If you got root privileges on your device, Titanium Backup is a highly recommended app for you. You might find a number of backup apps at the Google Play Store, but none of them does the job so perfectly and nicely. The only negative thing about the app is it user interface that feels outdated, but when it comes to functionality, Titanium Backup surpasses them all.
Titanium-Backup-pro
This best in class app can backup all apps (including system apps) and games on your apps with all app settings and data. You can backup apps individually, in groups or all at once. Also, before backing up or restoring the apps, you can choose whether to do the operation just with the apps, settings and data or a combination of all three. Besides, it also lets you schedule your backups. If you purchase the Pro key, you will also be able to use some premium features like—
Data migration (important for those who are fond of switching ROMs)
Dropbox sync and restore
Multiple backups per app support
Zero-tap batch restore
App freezer for keeping an app unchanged
Backup apps without closing any app
And more.

11. Expand your internal storage for more apps
This feature is a life saver for devices with low internal storage space like Xperia X8, LG Optimus P350, P500, etc. You can’t install more apps when your device has a low internal storage. You can overcome this by partitioning your SD card and moving apps from internal storage to partitioned SD card space with an app called Link2SD. This needs root and CWM recovery installed on your device.
Reboot to CWM recovery
Go to Advanced-> Partition SD Card
You will be provided with the options to choose the size of the partition from 128,256,512,1024, 2048 and so on. Provided sizes are in MBs. Select your desired one, say 512. Then select swap size as 0.
That’s all, it will partition your sd card, be noted that this will totally format your SD card so better take a backup before this process.
After this, start-up your phone and get Link2SD from Google Play which is available for free.
Start the app, it will search for the second partition on your SD card, choose ext2, ext3 or ext4(depends on what partition is it on your SD card). Now it will ask you to reboot your device.
After rebooting, start the application and you can start moving your apps to SD card’s second partition which will also be considered as internal storage.

12. Add true Linux commands to your device
‘Busybox’, is what I am talking about. This thing is often referred as, “the Swiss Army Knife of Embedded Linux”, because that’s what it really is. It’s not really an app but it installs the Linux/Unix commands in your phone. It achieves this by placing scripts in your phone. Unless you have installed Busybox, apps like Terminal Emulator are nearly worthless. This app is very useful for some experienced-advanced users.

13. GooManager
If you are not new to Android, you must be familiar with the goo.im website that is one of the most popular hubs of Android custom ROMs, Google apps packages and popular custom recovery like TWRP. The GooManager app is a front-end app for users of rooted Android devices that can perform various tasks very easily. If you have root, you can install and update TWRP Recovery (if available) through this app. Since most custom ROMs for Android are hosted or mirrored at the goo.im site, the app is also capable of installing and updating ROMs on your device.
Goo-manager
You can browse compatible ROMs and Gapps and download all available files directly on your phone or tablet. The app also works like a reboot manager that lets you get your device into recovery mode without using the hard-keys combination.
