Mine isn't doing this, i'd reset to factory and try again.

Rooted, Yes sir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thx

rooting on windows 8.1
Rooting this on Windows 8.1 x64, noticed that the posted LG drivers wouldn't give me adb drivers that would load. I used koush's universal driver available from here http://koush.com/post/universal-adb-driver.. Replugged the phone with Kingo up and I was golden.
I as well used http://www.xda-developers.com/android/lightweight-adb-and-fastboot-installer/ for my adb program to instal TWRP
Hopefully this is useful for the 8.1 early adopters

Also, if you READ the forums there are other methods, this is one I read, it seemed quick and easy. I believe someone mentioned farmaroot or framaroot, and there is another method listed in the G2 forum as well. Go read.. I chose that app cause it was 2am and I was half awake

[root] KF2 has updated to 10.2.3 - there goes root and gapps [edit: rooted again!]

So, all my work to get mine set up is undone, play store is gone, ads are back, etc..the voodoo root protector app failed completely.
Worse, the qemu exploits are not working.
On the plus side, Swype was recoverable with the nook advanced settings tool..
I eagerly await the next method.
Edit: And we're back, Baby! I had success getting root back via the MANY ANDROID method mentioned by bodi524 below..I had to run it twice, but then it was all good. Didn't even have to rerun the qemu bits!
Same story. I hope that someone can find solution. This device is useless without root
Did the device auto update or you updated hoping for the best? I was reading up that they are going to release an update any day now that will break it pulling the stuff that allows us to exploit root. Mine still has not come in the mail yet. I'm expecting it will be here by Wednesday of next week soo long. I'll give it till then for something to be done or it will be shipped back.
I noticed mine auto-updated last night. I looked over and saw "Kindle is upgrading..." on the screen.

That app does not work. No app that is out there works. You have to change a system app that controls that function. Don't know what it is off hand bud the is a thread in q&a or general that discusses it

This Root Method works for the 10.2.3 Update.
This was my 1st try after failing the qemu root
Hey there!
I've tried the different Methods to gain root acces aganin after the Update to Version 10.2.3 but without success.
The Problem (while using qemu-method) is the step with build.prop -> "Permission denied".
Ca anybody give a hint how to gain root access again?
Also ca anybody give me a hint, if the original Kindle fire ROMS would work on kindle fire v2?
Im new to Kindle fire, only worked with different HTC-Phones till now, so maybe there is some help? =)
Thanks in advance!
Check post above yours for root. I had to use both methods in that thread. Do not be afraid if the phone is hanging after the first method, the second method brings it through.

So this is basically the replacement for the KFC atm?
Uh oh. 10.2.4 just hit my kindle. I'm going to try to re-root, but it even nailed OTA rootkeeper. Amazon keeps getting smarter. I kinda wish they would just let us enjoy our awesome 7" tablet with gorgeous ips display and leave it alone.
It's bad enough there's no KFU or FFF for the Fire 2 so we're stuck on rooted stock instead of being able to install ICS proper, or jellybean.

How to "root" your Optimus G Pro AT&T

How to "root" your Optimus G Pro AT&T ONLY
This does work great. It will allow root.
1. (Optional if you have another means of un-RARing) Download and install 7-zip from here. You need this to open certain types of archives (specifically .rar, but you might also want to open .tar, .bz2, or other types of archives in the future). This program is supremely awesome in its ability to open almost any archive you throw at it. It's also unobtrusive and efficient.
2. Download and install LG USB Drivers from here. Without these drivers, your computer won't be able to effectively communicate with your phone. This is vital for the steps we will be taking.
3. Enable USB debugging by going to Settings->(General)->Developer options" and checking the box next to "USB debugging." You will get warnings. You can probably ignore them. This setting will allow you to run commands on your phone from your computer (via USB). For more info on the Android Debug Bridge, click here.
4. Download and extract (using 7-zip (or whatever)) the root exploit from here.
5. Connect your phone to the computer with your USB cable.
6. Put the phone into "Charge Only" mode at Settings->General->PC connection->USB connection type
7. Open CurrentRoot.bat and follow its prompts. You will need to change from "Charge Only" to "Media sync (MTP)" mode. The setting is in the same place.
8. Run SuperSU (now in your apps drawer) it and make sure it works. This program allows others to gain access to superuser privileges. For more info on rooting and what kind of stuff it lets you do, click here and/or use Google.

Yup, worked fine on my laptop - Win8 64 bit.
I followed the instructions and even ran the currentRoot file as administrator after unrar the whole "ZV9-ZVB-Root folder" to the desktop.
After it says root successful, I still couldn't find the superuser in my apps as described. I have downloaded SU from play store and I still have no root access.
Please see the attached pictures of my root process and let me know if I am doing anything wrong.
Whatever I do, attached pictures are coming upside down. Sorry!

At this point in development, if I root my phone and do softbrick or bootloop it how can I return to stock setup? With the bootloader locked is this not possible at this state. I would like to go ahead and root , but I feel as though there is no safety net. What are the alternatives....

[ROOT] Very Simple E980 root after E98010p update

This is so awesome but I can't post links so....
...wait for it!!!
I can post it on my own web site tho: free-press dot us
I copied this from your site.
How To ROOT the Optimus G Pro E-980
after installing the latest update to E98010p
1. Install the drivers if you have not done so yet from http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-E980 (under Software Update tab)
2. Install this program (Kingo Android Root) from download.com: http://download.cnet.com/Kingo-Android-Root/3000-2094_4-75996768.html
Notes: You get a download.com installer initially. I was offered two programs I would never use so I declined those and got the actual program from the installer. Nothing was forced so don't freak out. The actual program is 22.5mb.
3. Open the Kingo program after install.
4. Put your phone in USB Debugger mode and connect it to your PC.
5. Select "Install PC Software" on your phone popup and let the Kingo program do its job.
6. The program will attempt root in Odin mode at first and fail and will then automatically use the correct mode and succeed.
Once the program completes you will have rooted your LG Optimus G Pro with "SuperSU" installed. Very simple. Next step is to install a Recovery.
I tried to post this on XDA but I don't have 10 posts so I gave up there. I go there often for solutions and new information but rarely post, but people seemed to be struggling with this and I thought I should give something back. Someone with link posting power can repost this to the forum if you want but please give me some credit for finding this on YouTube. Thanks!!!

FreeGee will put the lokified version of the recovery on your phone, which is needed since the bootloader is still locked
Can you tell me, or anyone can tell me, why Rom Manager doesn't work? It says it has Loki support but when I try to use it I get the android with the red symbol denoting it can't boot into recovery. I'm just curious.

Not sure....
I've read that Kingo and vroot are malicious root programs that might be sending IMEI info to Chinese servers. Then, supposedly other phones can be set up with your credentials. I don't have any way to verify if the aforementioned is true, but I'm just passing it along...
Maybe a web search of vroot and Kingo are in order.....
If that is true, and I'm not saying it is or isn't, I'm sure a web search on the matter could tell you what to look for. Such as hidden malicious apps installed, etc. It would be a prudent move to check into it but nothing to panic over until and/or unless there is some truth to it. Just my 2 cents on the matter....lol
---------- Post added at 02:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:02 PM ----------
Just because you brought it up Andy, I went into all my settings and apps. This method DOES install an app in your phone. I probably should have wrote down the app info before I removed it but I forgot to. it's not rocket science to figure it out on your own though. You see a blue icon with some Chinese writing on it. I went ahead and removed it from my phone just to be safe. But chances are IF this app is sending ANY data to a foreign server, it has done so already because it's been in my phone for a few hours already before I noticed it.
I did read online about the uploading of IMEI numbers but ONLY to build a database from but that feature has since been removed because of the concerns it raised.
Worked fine for my LG Optimus G Pro E980. I also ran Malware Bytes afterwards and found no malware, then I ran CM Security and the only thing I found was an sms fake phishing vulnerability which I am almost sure didn't come from the root process.
So just want to verify on this software is working for E980 10p update? Has anyone else found 10p root method to work without reflashing.? I am almost tempt to hold out on 4.4 OTA update coming for my phone.

Any Linux based scripts to get this phone rooted? I don't own a windows PC.

Hmm... Can't Root...

Hey, guys. I need help rooting this phone. I tried the LG Root Script v1.2 and the CMD prompt by avicohh. Both of which looked as if they should have rooted this phone. They did install the SuperSU app but every time I load up the app, it'll say, "there is no su binary installed and supersu cannot install it". I upgraded from an HTC One M7 and never had any problems rooting that phone. What other methods can I use to root this phone? Additional info below:
Model # - LG-D851
Android Version - 5.0.1
Kernel Version - 3.4.0
Software Version - D85120g
Security Software Version - MDF v1.1 Release 2
Unknown Sources and USB Debugging Enabled

Also for this kingroot, do i need to unlock bootload?
Hey friend! I have looked for a root to LG X Power (K220dsf), but I haven't had success.
How do you make this root? Did you just download and run Kingroot on phone? Please, help me.

hey guys what happen to the 2nd screen if you custom rom it?
Hey guys i achieved temporary root on my K500H with Kingroot pc and already debloated it, but only one time when i restarted the phone again it was ok but not rooted anymore. well something is better than nothing.
get kingroot from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
I recommend u to do it on pc first (turn off antivirus), cause if you do it with the android app itself and u fail maybe u will be not able to root again.
If you do this, root and do all things u want, and before u reboot the phone unroot and uninstall kingroot (from the app).
I wish to say that I am not an expert. I read that oneclickroot can root the LG x K500I phone, I have a K500N and the same software can't root my device. Does anyone know the reason why software doesn't work? or a workaround to make it works?
Thanks in advance
My device:
LG X SCREEN K500N
Android 6.0.1 (V10e-222-10)

U tried on PC or mobile app?
I tried with both...the same result...nothing!
The bootloader is still locked, maybe can it be the reason?
I tried with other tools, but no result.

Yea don't confuse root and unlocked bootloader, you can achieve root without having bootloader unlocked, but it will be temporary.

Hi Mont,
I used kingroot, as you suggested, but it does not work
The app fails to root, while if I use the pc software a error occurs "network connection failed".
