Ballistic Case for Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Accessories

Looks like Ballistic is definitely making a Nexus 5 case: http://www.trickedoutonline.net/cs/...0&rec_range=20&phone_model=&phone_make=5&tn=6
Can't wait. I really need the drop protection.

That's great news! They aren't the same big & tough cases they used to make...like for my Evo 4G. But they are still one of my favorites.
Thanks for sharing!

I really hope that the n5 one isn't as bad as the lg l7 or RAZR v.
Wayyyy too big for those 2 phone. Could not fit it nicely in my street jeans, only fit properly in my work jeans (yes I'm that guy with like 3 of the same work jeans), only because they are of the carpenter ones and I put the phone where the hammer is suppose to go

There are a currently nice slim cases out there. You should probably stay away from the Ballistic line if you don't want bulk.

Great find! The only thing that would concern me a bit is that the case wraps way farther around the front of the phone than most of the cases out right now. I don't know if these usually come with screen protectors, but I imagine it might be a problem for those using thicker (glass) screen protectors. Both the white and black variants both look awesome though!

My nexus 4 Ballistic didn't ship with any screen protectors. I actually have my Ballistic Nexus 4 case stretched on my Nexus 5. The holes don't line up and it interferes with the volume, but gives me peace of mind until the Nexus 5 case I ordered arrives. From what I've read the glass protectors are not very thick so I image they would fit.
I will definitely buy their Nexus 5 case.

You're probably right. After looking closer at the pictures, it seems like the part on the bottom that wraps over the face is silicone so it should stretch easily enough over a screen protector.

I'll be getting one. Have the spigen slim now.

I mean I did like the ballistic case on my l7. Made me feel safe that it was protected, on the flip side I eventually found it too bulky. But hey good on ballistic for bringing in more competition!

The older the device gets, the less I feel I need protection. Maybe it's because I start itching for a new phone every 6 months or so.

Compared with Trident and Urban Armor
How do you think the Ballistic compares to Trident and UAG cases?

I've seen the outer shell of many Trident cases take damage from drops. Which is arguably good. But I've seen Ballistic take a beating with drops and never show real damage to the case.
I have no XP with UAG.

Oh, good to know, especially because Ballistic is working on the cases. I hope they have decent colors.
Also, I am quietly hoping that UAG and Trident do some cases for N5.
Such a shame that they dont respect the N5 community.

Since you mention colors. Ballistic often puts out a vibrant red. Trident on the other hand has frequently released a washed out pink-red, even though it will look nice in their ad pics. I have had nice lime-green cases from Trident. Moral of story is just don't trust Trident's colors, especially the red.

Acase Superleggera Pro case review

So like many others who have been waiting for their GS3 to be delivered to their front door steps here in the USA, I've been buying cases so I'd be ready to go from the start. My plan is buy a variety of cheap cases and bumpers to see how they feel in my wee bitty hands. So here is my review of a case worth reviewing. I haven't seen anyone mention this case so I apologize if I'm duplicating something that's already been said.
I picked up this case on Amazon for a little over $12 after shipping costs. It appeared to be marked down from $30 without shipping so I figured It was a steal. So far, I was right. It's size is very slim for a duel layer case. While it does make the phone bigger, it's not too big for my girl hands. It actually makes the phone feel a little better and comfortable in the hand.
The texture of both layers have a nice grip and feel. The matte black hard shell has a soft feel that blends well with the feel of the silicone core.
So far the hardshell has been smudge resistant and I have a good feeling scratch resistant but only time and use will tell on that part. The silicone core appear to be lint resistant, if that's even possible, compared to my Seidio Active case on my Rezound (great case by the way) that collected light to moderate pocket lint.
The case also provides a nice lip around the screen to protect it. The best part of the lip is that it doesn't get in the way of using the phone. It occupies just the right amount of real estate.
Buttons work like the real buttons. No issues with them working properly or having to apply extra pressure.
Summary: I love this case. It's solid, feels great, and was purchased at a great price.

It's actually a $40 case that I got for $12 (price went up already on the black to $12 + s/h) .......I can handle the tiny logo, and if not, I'll get out a black marker.
They have some other colors that are cheaper than the black now. Thinking about picking up a blue one.

Anyone else using this case?
I want to know other users opinion about this case compared to the following cases:
1. Otterbox commuter
2. Incipio Silicrylic
3. Casemate Tough case
Ha! The thread lives! I can't believe more people aren't using this case or at least interested in the case. It's great and almost tripled in price since I first got it. Still cheap enough to equal a valuable purchase.

I checked this on Amazon. All the ratings are either 4 star or 5 star. And there are 44 of them.
Does this means it is the best case for S3 or are they asking the buyers to give good ratings(I have heard some companies do so) ?

Few questions?
How is the back of the hard shell? is it very smooth so that it may slip away from your hand or table?
Also do you know whether it is of the same size and weight of Case mate Tough case?
I had one for my 3d, very nice case. The only reason I got rid of it was the need for a belt holster, but other than that it protected the phone very well and the rubber material did not stretch out or get flimsy.

It's smooth but I wouldn't say slippery. I've been very comfortable holding it without fear of dropping it.
I'm not familiar with the Casemate Tough but I do like it better than my Casemate Pop. The Pop! Case is very slick other than the grips on the side and it feels wider then the Acase.

Do you use a screen protector with your case? A lot of screen protectors that go all the way to the edge of the screen are having problems with a lot of cases. I am using a Zagg HD, and I wanted to know if this case would cause it to bubble up.
Just wanted to add my two cents. Got the case very fast from Amazon. Was worried it wouldn't come but then it was delivered even before my shipping confirmation.
Anyways on to the case. Very good feel too it, not as bulky as i was expecting but still feels secure. Been using it regularly since i got it. Fits well in the pocket and doesn't attract too much lint so far. For the price, highly recommend it

Hey I have the case and yeah you would have to use a screen protector that doesnt go to the edges I had a regular screen protector and the bottom would bubble up because of the case.
I bought this case when it was $6.05 on Amazon and I would pay the current price for it because it is worth it. This is a really good case. I just wish they had made it a holster case.
got my black one this morning and I have to say that it feels great in the hand and fits perfectly.
I previously had the trident aegis and Neo hybrid but hated both of them. this is so much better and half the price. I have the seidio active too which is great to watch things using the kickstand but as an everyday case this blitzes it!
thanks for answering my questions about this in another thread.

I would just say if you want slim basic protection you cant go wrong with a TPU case ,.
If you're really careful with the device, I'd say a regular tpu case will do. But if you have butter fingers I'd recommend body glove shock suit. I have it and it's great and slim

Agree with everyone else about TPU cases, they're the best blend of protection and bulk. I've had 5 different TPU cases for the S3: Mercury, Diztronic (matte black), Boxwave, (all about $10), iGadgitz ($3), and ZooGue ($5 on sale). The ZooGue is the best I've used: http://www.zoogue.com/galaxy-s3-cases/. The Diztronic was too slippery, Mercury was a bit too low-profile with not enough screen protection for me (you may like that one if you want to keep the phone slim though). The iGadgitz was pretty good but just didn't look very good. Boxwave should not be considered.
Looks pretty cool, almost military grade. Seems bulky however

Not really. There is a post around here with comparison photos with and without the case.
It's the slimmest case I've found offering that amount of protection.

I had a zoo gue for the longest time and was really happy with it. Honestly its the BEST Tpu case. Quality, protection and great price. The Diztronics had nothing compared to the zoogue. I had the all.
I use Urban Armor gear for S3, and i'm happy with it, I got a feeling the phone cant be damaged at all, and the power/volume buttons work great with it (very important for me). I highly recommend it.

I'll second and third the ZooGue. Perfect combination of grippiness yet slippery enough to slide in and out of a pants pocket easily.

Me too. Have been using it for 6 months with the extended battery. Still look and feel very good. Love the case.
Living in Florida, I go to beaches and love fishing, so I wanted a case that could survive water, sand and accidental drops. Ended up getting the lifeproof case even though it is pricey...about $80. However, I love that it is a a pretty small case compared to other life proofs like otterbox
I have 2 brand new Otterbox Defender series warranty replacements for sale, a Grey on white and Black on black with clip holsters for sale. Looking to sell both for cheap in a bundle. Shoot me a PM if your interested.

Nexus 7 FHD "Armor" case

I managed to find a slightly otterbox like case for the FLO. Here is the link for the case. I will be able to do a hands on review tomorrow after i pick it up from my apartment.
I did not see any threads about this case. If anyone has information about the durability, drop protection, etc, of the case, please share. Ill give an update with my hands on review included, after i finish the review. In the mean time, hopefully someone else has their own take on this case.
I dont expect it will be an Otterbox replacement. Hopefully it does offer some level of protection against accidental handling mishaps.

come on..I dnt believe that it would be good enough to compete with otterbox....as I just saw that case on ebay...its not good in look....yes its FUGLY....otterbox would be much better choice than this rugged one....but Its just a perception rest you can judge the exact..as it will be in your hands !!!...do post some pics of case with your N7(2013) too....

As far as i know, there has yet to be an otterbox for the FLO. I had to wait about a month and a half into my ownsership of the FLO to find a case that is remotely "armor" like. The purpose of the case isnt to replace an otterbox, it is to hold me over UNTIL otterbox makes one for the FLO.
The gumdrop case looks nice, but the ribbing on the back would get on my nerves fast. Ill deal with what i have until an otterbox comes out.
It seems that Otterbox took the N7 2012 case off their website. The page it used to be on gives me a 404 type error.

I have that Poetic for my N7LTE and it rocks. I was somewhat worried about quality after purchasing a poetic for my wife's N7 (2012) however the 2013 version is great. It is definitely on par with otterbox cases.
Here is the review i promised. I did not get back to my place until today, so the review was delayed.
The case is very bulky and cumbersome. There is no space between the edge of the screen, and the inner part of the case' bezel. Both ports, as well as the microhpone, are uncovered. This could have been a decent case if it was not 3/4 inches thick and rather slippery when wet with skin oil or liquid. This case DOES NOT come with any sort of screen protector. The only redeeming quality about this case is its bulk makes driving games much easier when using the sensors to steer.
Here is the front view
Here is therear/side view
Overall id say its a 3-4/10. It has an almost 1/4 inch thick rubber outer shell over a pretty thin plastic one. It is no otterbox, but it might take a drop or two before it falters.

Nexus 5 Otterbox Defender.

I have asked the Otterbox customer service team about a defender case for our phone. They said they would consider making a defender case if i got 10,000 signatures on a petitiion. I am creating a petition later today. Anybody Interested?

PROOF
This really would have been good to start back in November or December, but I'm sure you can get a lot of votes. I'll vote if I can see some proof of where they've said this. Not that I am calling you a liar; I just have only seen them respond with "no plans at this time."
There isn't any point, Otterbox hates Nexus phone devices. They never ever make any Nexus phone cases, their last one was the Galaxy Nexus.
Why beg a company to make a case for your phone if they don't want to make a phone case for a flagship Google device? Its obvious that they don't take the Nexus brand very serious. If they don't want to make a case, take your business elsewhere to another company.

If a Otterbox case is that important to you then maybe you should re consider on what phone to get based on what cases Otterbox produces for.
There are actually a good number of cases that can serve as alternatives and they actually make a case for a phone without begging them to do so. At this rate, if you want a Otterbox that much you might as well send Otterbox a resume for their marketing department because thats exactly what they're making you do by offering them to get 10K petitions. The phone has been out over 3 months and they don't have ANY plans to make a case for this phone. It doesn't take many resources to set up a prototype for the Nexus 5. Its more or less molding it to fit the size. I'm not being rough with you but thats just the truth.

I can definitely say that if you're looking for an Otterbox quality case, go with the Trident. An Otterbox is not going to protect more than that and you're probably going to pay more if they end up making one. The Slim Armor is also very good if you don't want to go with too thick of a case. I have both but stick with the Slim Armor as it will protect it from most drops and bumps. And since I'm not engaging in urban warfare or playing baseball with my phone as the ball I don't feel I need to have such a bulky case to protect my phone. So to the OP, believe me, you're better off not petitioning Otterbox and just going with a case that is readily available. For $34.95 through Trident AND you get multiple colors to choose from, you can't beat that. Otterbox will be at least $40-$45 and all you get is black.
Edit: And Otterbox saying they'll consider it doesn't give you a guarantee that they will, even if you get 30,000 signatures. It's all in what it will cost them in development, tooling up to manufacture it, and if there is enough of a demand that it makes it worth it.

None of the cases listed have a belt clip. Can you suggest one with a belt clip and good quality.

If you're looking for one with a beltclip, I would buy the Zerolemon case when it comes back in stock. Even if you don't use the battery pack that comes with it, it's a rugged case with a belt clip. Check out the review on it in this forum a couple threads down and look at the pictures. For $39, it's a great deal.

Have that now. Already had the silicone replaced in 2 weeks. Stretched out beyond the edges of the phone.

Good to know...I believe XDAers more than Amazon reviewers.
^ Pretty much.
The other options for our device aren't too shabby either.
Spigen, speck, Google, lg, tech21, ringke, supcase, quicksand, trident, driztronic, cruzerlite.... Many top brands have us covered.

Otterbox would be nice, but I don't think its good to beg a company to make a case. If they don't want to, then I don't think they will no matter what they say.

Does anyone know which cases have integrated screen protectors for the Nexus 5? I am using an i-blason case with one right now and its pretty good, and I've also seen Ballistic's case with one with mixed reviews. So if there are any others, would love to hear about them.

Are you kidding me? Ballistic cases are awesome. Trident makes great cases too.

The ballistic case silicone stretched way out. Don't use trident as their c/s is horrendous.

I have owned ballistic cases for multiple devices, and the silicone has never stretched out at all. Maybe you are not attaching the hard poly carbonate shell correctly, and the incorrect fit is stretching it?

I've never had a problem either. I got 2 yrs out of my last one, and probably could have used it indefinitely. I guess some people are just good at abusing their stuff.

I don't plan on contacting Trident's CS dept., as their case is built rock solid and won't have any need to contact them.

Had the exact opposite with my old phone (HTC One S), I had an Otterbox commuter and the silicon part just got stretched out to the point that the phone jiggled around in it and the little covers for the ports/plugs/jacks broke off. Replaced it with the Ballistic SG and it's still a great fit a year and a half later.

Had a similar experience with the silicone on my commuter (galaxy nexus). It stretched to the point where it didn't protect the phone, cracking my screen when it dropped from waist height.
Their silicon was tougher in the sgs3 commuter, but I didn't have a good experience with otter box.

Amen! Mine should arrive next week!
That is one ugly case and does not look comfortable to hold at all.
I had one for the note 3. It really wasn't that bad.

If only they didn't have a stand, I would totally get it. I want a fully rugged case that doesn't feel tacky and about to fall apart like the TUDIA Dual.
Fugly case, it's a shame spigen refused to step up and produce a case.

Seriously.. I'm mad at them.
Or their ultra crystal screen protector. I love those.

Ugly or not I'm looking for more protection and I have one of these on the way. I'll take some good pics for you guys when it comes. I got the red version.
Update: case came this morning. It's not as ugly as I thought, but it is a tad thick where the kickstand is. Good protection.. Better than my Ringke fusion and Tudia. I'm at work right now but will get some pics taken and posted later.
I agree. Who cares what it looks like: function > form. Let me know how it works out I may purchase one also.
Thanks
Ok here's the pics. I'm not happy with them but hopefully they will be good enough for you guys. I took them at work in a real hurry before my boss could appear and say "wtf are you doing?"
A few quick notes about the case:
-Good protection, higher edges around screen than my other cases.
-Power button feels pretty good but volume buttons are stiff and a bit mushy.
-Holes for the phone ports are of ample size.
-Case feels ok in my pocket but the thickness of the kickstand area IS noticeable even though I always have the screen side against my thigh.
-The kickstand is actually my first on any phone or tablet. It "locks" in the closed position with a snap. When trying to pull it out, it feels like it will break before it "snaps free" and folds out. Maybe it will, maybe it wont... I didn't buy the case for the kickstand anyway so I'm not worried about it.

Can you take a pic of the phone out of the case next to the case from the side, id like to see how thick it is compared to the phone.
Just ordered the white version, will come on standard shipping for around 7 days, no biggie while I wait for my TUDIA to arrive.

I had one of these on the RAZR i.
Not bad cases, can pop the rubber bit off and use just the hard shell.
Best hard cover Frosted Matte
Sended from china, 4 weeks wait, but very very good material !!

I don‘t think that manufacturers like spigen or otterbox will ever make cases for the opo they support devices that have more buyers like samsung or apple, anyway the most protective cases for opo are jkase diablo, diztronic ultra and tudia slimfit which do you prefer?
Awesome review.

that has got to be the best backhanded compliment i have ever heard. "wasn't that bad" I mean that is awesome. It's like saying, "well, the amputation went pretty well. He won't miss the limb at all."
I say this NOT sarcastically at all. I almost spit out what I was drinking because I was laughing so hard when I read this.
