Chameleon OS (or ChaOS for short) is a custom Android ROM that gives the user more control than they can experience on any other Android ROM. Starting with a CyanogenMOD base, we customize each piece to give ultimate control while maintaining the simplicity we all love about Android. The most notable feature of ChaOS is the theme engine, which can apply different pieces of themes in a true mix-and-match style. The launcher has been completely overhauled with tons of options that you'd normally need to download a third-party launcher for, such as home screen previews, folder sorting, and folder icon styles. The Messaging app has also had some UI retouches, including messaging bubbles and quick emoji button.
The entire framework of ChaOS has been modified around the theme engine, allowing for custom fonts, boot animations (with animated preview), and themes. No longer do you have to try to find the perfect theme, with Chameleon OS you can patch it together with your favorite pieces from different themes. Messaging, Phone, Status Bar, icons, everything can be set completely individually from each other which provides the capabilities to completely re-imagine your phone. Creating themes for the ChaOS Theme Engine is superbly simple and has extreme versatility.
Even with all of the features we've currently implemented, ChaOS will continue to mature with even more refined settings and features. We will be completely open source and will welcome developers to join us, whether it be by maintaining a device or utilizing our gerrit review. Even if you're not a developer, your voice will not go unheard. We will continually poll our users for the most wanted features and do our best to implement them.

Thanks, looks interesting. Can't we install this with a dual recovery so not to screw up the camera functionality?

@Fedr0 did you read the post at all? The second line says you need an unlocked bootloader...
Gesendet von meinem Xperia Z1 mit Tapatalk

Needing an unlocked bootloader I was under the impression that doing so would break the camera, however in the OP it states that the camera not focusing is a bug ?
Does this suggest that the camera works after the bootloader is unlocked?

Well, the not focussing is the issue with the camera after unlocking afaik... And if you can't focus, it's pretty useless. So, unlocking still messes up the camera and it's not so much a bug of this rom but a bug/issue after unlocking.

I understand that but thought that unlocking made the camera not work altogether so how can it be working on this rom after unlocking is what i ment?
Thanks by the way.

The focus is what breaks. That's the way it is on all Roms right now, you get a picture, but it's blurred, because focus doesn't work.

No you can't. Installing a custom kernel (kernel modified in *any* way) requires the bootloader to be unlocked in order to be installed. Since all AOSP/AOSP-based/CM ROMs require a different kernel from the stock kernel you need an unlocked bootloader. You can flash the ROM, but it won't boot.

I'd also like to know if the camera works on this. It seems to be the only thing missing on CM10.1.
Did Sony release the camera libs like they did for other Xperia phones?

we need camera libs compiled against 4.2.2 headers

Question: Will the IR blaster and remote app work with any aosp variants? Do they require specific libs and drivers? Or.is it a.standalone app and sensor that just works regardless? That's the coolest feature of the phone, and the only reason I haven't left stock. Sorry if it's a.dumb question. Lol

i am possibly getting hold of a C6503 soon, i am willing to look into the IR
I realise that is the "most awesome" feature of this phone, and already bin4ry and FXP have done some work to make the libs and apps work with CM10.1
rest assured, it's not going to be neglected

Could i use somethings from Your Rom in my ROM?

Can i Install with a locked bootloader
----yes
why is there 2 zips
---i dont have much online space, so it saves space + Some Services only allow uploads of less than 200mb, whole rom in 1 zip is about 430
if it says Debloated why is the Total Downlod Above 500mb
---Well in V2 we have compressed everthing alot more, you also have to rememebr that some of the file will overlap, so the size after install should be about 400MB (V2 of course not V1)
why is this rom so horrible
---i am technichly still a noob (-rgds Envious_data)

FAQs
Is this ROM pre-rooted?
No. It isn't yet because there is no sufficient root for Android 5.0+ on this device. Chainfire is working on a root. Once he releases it I will pre-root the ROM.
Can I root the ROM myself?
Sure, be my guest. But note I recommend SuperSU v2.40, v2.41, or v2.42. Just flash it in recovery. Note that your device is likely to boot-loop after flashing.
What version of Android is this ROM on?
Android 5.0.2 currently.
If I am coming from another ROM or stock android and wish to flash your ROM what should I do?
Do a clean install.
What recovery should I use?
TWRP.
Do I need to flash gapps?
Well yes and no. The ROM already includes the Google Play store...but if you don't want to install all the Google apps separately, just flash gapps.

Interesting stuff. A couple of quick questions, if I may... In what way is the OS faster, technically speaking? Which libraries did you add and what do they do?
Will be interested to give this a try once you have a XT1068 version. One feature I would love to see is 'quick pin unlock' like you can get in Cyanogenmod or by using xposed. ie the ability to enter the pin on the lock screen it to unlock as soon as correct pin is entered without the need to hit enter. Thanks for your hard work :good:

So guys just wanted to let u know I am working on this ROM for xt1068...will be releasing it for xt1068 when I release v1.1. So basically it will release the xt1068 build with v1.1 and all the v1.1 changes (it will skip v1.0.
Also FYI...this is the only Moto G 2014 ROM that supports all Moto G 2014 variants...pretty cool

Thank you for working on this for the xt1064.
Should I go ahead and root this rom?
However... There is no way to delete the opened tabs with one click, like in CM.
How about the addition of tiles in the quicksettings drawer?
Anyway... EXCELLENT work! It installed very well.
Tomorrow I will check the OTA updater, to see how that functions.
Just wanted to let everyone know v1.0 release 2 will be available within 24 hrs...it fixes ota bug with v1.0.
Note: you must manually install release 2...you can't update to release 2 via ota updater app

What about custom boot choices? For example boot into recovery, normal boot, quick boot, etc.
Thanks for the ROM! Can't wait until my Moto G is in to try it out!

Nice work. Glad to see your interest and effort in the Moto G :3
Maybe you would consider adding NTFS support? (with NTFS-3G?) :highfive:
I would really appreciate if you could add some battery icons mods to the ROM, like CyanogenMod Circle Battery (gravitybox has a circle battery option but its not like the CM one, the CM circle battery is way more cool) xperia KitKat battery etc, its just a suggestion
Anyway, waiting for the XT1068 Version.
Sent from my Moto G 2014
Will definitely be looking forward to using this ROM on the XT1068 when it's released.
I won't worry too much about asking for additional features, and I'm pretty sure AOSP doesn't have any theming engine like CM has either. I'll just be glad to use something that doesn't have 2/3rds of the RAM occupied by system/Moto apps!
Is this a rom compiled or simply stock modified? If its a compiled rom , the OP can add features like battery mods and stuffs requested above. But if its stock then its not possible i think. Anyways @op mind sharing a few screenshots? Thank you!
Will surely flash this after lp. Thanks
Edit:- How come NFC? It is not supported in our device, Right?

Here some screenies of the rom the way u will have it after flash...
And here some screenies of my own devices to show what layers can do =)...
bugs...
Excellent ROM... So far, I've found that I can't add the weather clock widget, (it goes through the whole adding process fine, but then it's not there - the other widgets seem ok), and the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work during calls, so the screen is prone to accidental touches.
Thanks
I will check for proximity sensor...and about weather widget here its fine

I have none of these problems. Deep sleep is fine, clock widget is there on homescreen and lockscreen and proximity sensor is working like it should. I even use proximity calling without a problem.
Maybe only dirty flash problems... I have done a clean installation with tk gapps.

I did do a full wipe, but what I didn't do, that I usually would, is flash boot.IMG first. Do you think that would do it? I was coming from Validus, so I figured it would be OK, (not that I know anything about it - just uneducated guess). Thanks
_edit_
Flashed Tesla boot.img and wiped cache and dalvik. Now proximity works fine, but still no weather clock widget. It's strange - if I use checkmark button after setting widget prefs, I get force close on Slim Launcher. If I use back button, it just goes back to home screen, with no widget. Anyway, I'm not too worried about it - there's more than enough widgets to choose from, just kind of curious...

Maybe a little OT but is it OK for you if we use this thread to discuss tipsy OS too?

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.

I did it without twrp version switch. Used only "twrp_leo_2017-10-02" and removed assert from Rom's updater script ?
Very nice ROM so far. Only the sound seems to have less quality than omni 8.1 for instance.

There is a arm version and a atv-arm version, don't know what that stands for.
