I'm waiting for reviews. I bought Spigens previous glass protector for the nexus 5 and every protector sold had bubble issues at the bottom of the screen.

Too bad that's incorrect - MIME have the thinnest at 0.15mm

I think iLoome have even thinner ones that are flexible but looks the 9H hardness.

Just saw the price on Spigen UK's site: £40. Wow. A little too steep for a screen protector isn't it?

Pre-ordered mine a week or so ago on amazon, just shipped via USPS today, I'll post a review when it gets here. :good:

I have replacement's coming for both. Haven't heard anything recently from spigen to say if it shipped or not. I'll give them until Dec 1 or so before I start hounding them. My original.t is still doing decent duty. IT was perfect until my grandson was wrestling with me last weekend and chipped the edge in 3 places. LOL

I'm not sure I get glass protectors anymore. I used to be a die-hard convert (I wouldn't even use the phone or pull off the factory cover until I had my protector ready) - but with gorilla glass being so resilient, unless you've got an extreme case they seem unnecessary and sometimes interfere (yellowing, distorted vision if you use polarized sunglasses, etc).
The issue really is that these are edge-to-edge so if you drop it, even with one of these on you won't prevent a crack (unless the fall is perfectly level) regardless of the hardness rating. It's the corners and sides you want to protect.

Dan, it's the smoothness/feel of glass that we adore while still protecting the original screen. If you don't care about the feel you might as well get a $10 screen protector.
If I accidentally put my phone in my keys pocket or slide the phone face down on a rough surface I'd rather easily replace a $30-$40 screen protector than spending a considerable amount of money to replace the panel/glass.

Don't get me wrong - I totally understand the appeal of glass, both in terms of clarity and feel, over some kind of plastic cover. My point is simply that the GG3 is *much* stronger / resilient than any kind of cover (to the point that dragging my keys or any "normal" situation wouldn't cause it issue) and that the cover, no matter what tensile properties, will never prevent cracking of the glass if the phone is dropped. Additionally, given that LG has finally figured out that separating the digitizer from the glass (a la iPhone) means that instead of paying $200 every time you crack the glass (as I have done, unfortunately, 4 times on my N4) - instead the phone works fine with cracked glass and eventually the glass prices should fall to something on the order of $30-40 installed. This is including the markup that the company I used to fix my N4 quoted me (e.g. retail pricing).
At that price point, why would you install a weaker, less efficient, optically distorting (all optical layers added on cause distortion, trust me I have a high level academic b/g in this field) when for the same price (or less if you're as prone to dropping your phone as I am) - you can have the glass replaced by the factory item for the same price or less? Plus the factory glass feels the best and has the most desirable features (oliophobic, hydrophobic, higher tensility, etc.) - no question.

Hi,

GG3 is strong, but it's still glass - I always find these demos with keys and knives kind of strange, because metals are typically softer than glass. The problem with any glass is - if you have your phone in your pocket with just a few grains of sand - you will get scratches - even on the Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is hardened to prevent shattering and scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof. So, yes I think glass protector is a great idea.
I've been looking into the issues people had with bubbles forming on their Nexus 5 - and then I noticed that my Nexus 5, has a slight imperfection, almost like a slight dimple on the bottom of the glass, near the notification LED. It's really hard to see and I only noticed it by accident when I had the phone laying on the window sill and saw slightly distorted reflection of trees outside. I am wondering if people with bubble problem are in fact suffering from similar imperfection on the Nexus's glass preventing complete adhesion.

This is exactly the issue. There is a slight deformity in the flatness of the Nexus 5 glass surface in that area (bottom right on the bezel), a barely perceptible depression.
The current Spigen glass protectors are just too thick/stiff to accommodate this variation in flatness on the Nexus 5 screen. The result is a "bubble" under the protector.
I am guessing the Nano, being thinner and hopefully more compliant, will adhere properly to the Nexus 5 surface. Maybe a more aggressive adhesive could help here too?
I'm holding off until I see some user reviews. Also, still waiting for my Spigen refund!

Cheap Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I came across this tempered glass screen protector from Orzly on Amazon UK. It costs less than £6 delivered.

Orzly accessories get pretty good reviews and their tempered glass screen protector for the Nexus 5 was generally recommended on XDA before the price went up. Definitely worth a try at this price.

Doesn't that tempered glass screen protector defeat the purpose of the glass screen and a screen protector? I would think by doubling the screen's thickness (essentially), you'd be making it harder thus easier to break on a drop. As for scratching, I'm not sure why people are so worried, it's Gorilla Glass 3. Having owned several GG products, it is very very herd to scratch the screen unless you plan on carrying sharp stones with your phone in your pocket while you are doing jumping jacks.

The tempered glass has a silicone adhesive on the backside of it that also acts as a buffer. And direct impacts that would normally break the screen are completely absorbed by the glass protector and it breaks instead. PET or other plastic screen protectors only prevent scratches. I would rather replace a 10-15$ screen protector than a 100$ screen.
Anyone knows a seller who ships to Europe?

Got mine today, ordered before the amazon price went up... Ive never used a glass screen protector before and didn't realise how bad plastic ones are.
It's a perfect fit, other that one spec of dust about 2mm from the edge you'd never know there was a screen protector on!
No camera or senior holes, just a speaker hole, but everything seems to work just fine.

I've been treating my moto g like a baby and having it as sole item in my pocket and it has micro scratches that you can see in bright sunlight. I've also seen a galaxy note 3 (gorilla glass 3) from a Samsung rep with an awfully scratched screen (admittedly in his pocket with keys)

I've written a review which should be up on Amazon within 48h. Basically I'll never buy another plastic screen protector again, this glass one is great for £9.99.
The clarity is fantastic, the feel is better than the original (imo) and the only disadvantage is the lack of cut outs for the camera.
Its also really easy to use swype or other similar keybaords now because my thumb doesn't stick.
I have found this Flexible Glass that might be intersted but it is a little expensive.
http://swiss-case.com/collections/by-device/moto-g/truglass-flexible-glass-for-moto-g.html
Anyone have any links to the Orzly one that has stock/is not being sold at an extortionate rate? Not willing to may £13 when I know it was available for £6 in the past.
Got the glass one in from hong Kong. Came extremely well packed and got it installed in about a minute.
It fits the phone perfectly and feels much better than then plastic protector that I had on the phone before hand. I am still trying to decide if it has made the touch screen less responsive, but I believe that it is more than worth it.
Any additional questions just let me know.

Tempered Glass Screen Protector Quality (ALL brands)

There's an ongoing discussion on which brand of tempered glass screen protectors are the best value, but I'm curious which ones have been most prone to chips and bubbles. I've had this problem with the Spigen GLAS.t and am looking to replace it. I'm not willing to sink $30+ for something that will just chip within several weeks. I'm very careful with my N5 and I have 6 chips that have magically appeared over the past couple months.
Your votes are appreciated =) If you haven't encountered any issues, details like which screen protector you have and for how long (this is important) would be helpful. Cheer!
EDIT: To help get more definitive information, please try to post details that reveal the following:

You could ask for experiences of those who've owned and used the product for a month or two. It's common to see people on within a week singing praises but things don't always go so well with cheap glass over time.
I got the Spigen Glas.Tr and it had a chip in it on day 1. Ended up cracking across the screen.
I emailed their customer service 11 days ago and still haven't gotten a response.

My GLAS.t is cracked across the screen too, twice! Sad to hear the tR has issues as well since Spigen claims the rounded corners help a lot more with chipping.
Using the mime feather with a Ballistic case and the right top and bottom corners started cracking for some reason. I also have a crack from left to right in the center of the screen that doesn't even touch the corner cracks. Not very happy. This is my first slim-design glass protector and first time using MIME, but I never had any problems with my Spigen.
I've had the mime ghost with a spigen neo hybrid for over a month now. No cracks at all. Tiny bubbles only when case is on. The case is very tight fitting, so the corners rise up a little. No problems with the screen protector itself.

can the people stating the have cracking issue also say how thick the glass is? maybe if you can edit that question into the main thread, we'll find a trend =?
Well those people who got their screen protector chipped or bubbled...can they share some pics of it....and mention the particular cause that how it was happened...???
As I use this Tempered glass Screen protector for my N5 and believe me its such a nice product that it never make me feel as if I have put something on my screen..the touch is pretty smooth and flawless...n I just love it...and couple of times it has saved the screen from my car keys too.....I just love this product..very pleasant experience....
Thanks
Hey guys, I updated the first post with a list of tempered glass sp's for the N5 along with their thickness and link. Let me know if I'm missing anything!
Mime Ghost
I have been using MIME Ghost for over a month now. It is good. No bubbles/cracks. I have read may posts that say that the mime feather cracks easily after a week or two. Ghost is a bit thicker and a better option in my opinion.

I have 6 chips around my Spigen GLAS.t and I honestly have NO idea how I got any of them. I treat my phone with care and always leave it in its own pocket so it doesn't get scratched or anything, albeit I don't have a case on it. But a good quality screen protector should be able to withstand day-to-day use without a case, in my opinion.
Interestingly this is the first I've heard of the Amzer Kristal (which I'll add to the list in the first post) and it's the thickest of all its competitors. How long have you been using it, and do you have a case with it?

Any piece of glass with sharp corners will chip easier, even with large window panes. If you have the glas.t and are not using a case, it will definitely chip as the edges are most vulnerable and more chips/cracks will propagate from there. I don't know why Spigen doesn't put the message for the glas.t on all of the glas.t products, but this is from the iPhone 5 glas.t page:
*As this is a glass product, please note that the edges of the glass are the most vulnerable areas. We highly recommend that you use a case along with your GLAS.t SLIM to avoid chipping or cracking the edges of your GLAS.t SLIM

Myself, I have had the glas.tr since early December and have no issues with or without a case. I switch between the Neo Hybrid/Ultra Fit and no case about half the time and have had no chips or bubbles.
TL;DR: If you get a glass protector without rounded edges, it will most likely chip unless you have a case to protect the edges of the glass.

Thanks for this. I was going back and forth between the t and tR, but figured I was careful enough with my phone that it should be fine. I assumed the disclaimer was for people who had the tendency of being a little more hard on their phones. I'm really thankful mine was in the first batch that was recalled, so I essential got a trial run at the glas.t. Good to hear the tR is more durable as they advertise. I'm curious to know which of the other brands have curved edges as well, which is definitely a must if I'm not using a case.
Added the Cruzerlite TRUGLASS to the first post as well. Seems like there isn't one brand that is clearly more durable than the rest.

Which glass screen protector?

Hi,
I've had a Nillkin glass screen protector on for a few months, and the glass has slowly started to lose its sticky around the corners and keeps air bubbles all the time. It's also got a slight chip on one of the edges.
So I'm looking for a replacement, preferably one that doesn't have a cut out for the light sensor.
I don't particularly want to pay £30 for a spigen one, especially if it goes the same way after a couple of months. So I'm looking for around £15/$20. At the moment I'm looking at the Glass-M one, but would appreciate some other recommendations? Ideally one available in the uk that I don't have to import from the states or HK.
Thanks
Here's a good start, on top of the many threads specific to the different brands:

I can recommend the Glass-M 0.15mm glass. Great fit and feels great on being so thin. I purchased from a Hong Kong seller on eBay for £9.50 delivered and delivery was only 1 week or thereabouts.
thanks
Thanks for the links =)
I was looking for a Nillkin tempered glass because it's way cheaper than Spigen, but then, after reading some reviews about webs spider and other issues, I decided to buy the glass-m 0.15mm for a few more bucks.
I am very happy with my choice, it's perfect
Well, im looking for one glass too... I have been looking for the shield armor one (or something like that, I don't remember the name of it) I see many reviews and looks like works very good on the iPhone... I don't know if buy it or no (25$), what you say?

Thanks for the replies - can I just confirm the GlassM one doesn't have the cut-out for the light sensor?
Also, would the thinness of this not go against any additional protection from dropping that the glass ones tend to offer?

The Glass-M only has a cut out for the earpiece.
With regard to drop protection. I don't think there will be much in it. A serious drop on any glass protector will break it I believe. Its mainly for scuff and scratch protection. I went for the thin 0.15mm option because I wanted the phone to be as close to naked as possible.

I'm more thinking about the screen underneath the protector. Although not guaranteed, the "extra protection" offered by a glass protector is one of the draws for me.

I'm not sure a glass protector will protect much against a drop onto a concrete or hard surface from height. I think it all depends on how it lands, the glass protector will protect against scratches and scuffs should it survive the impact from the fall.
I'll tell you which one NOT to buy.

The cutouts are on the wrong side of the screen protector. It would have fit perfectly if it werent for this issue. The adhesive side has both cutouts on the wrong side of the protector, its like it was made backwards. Seemed good quality for 8 bucks but its unusable.
As this thread is dedicated to glass screen protectors, does anyone use a glass screen pro with a tpu case?
I'm tempted by the iloome flex but unsure if my case will case the protector to raise at the edges
I'm using the Anker glass screen protector - it feels better than the stock screen and when the coating rubs off or it gets broken/scratched you can replace it with another one for around £12. I've already had the stock Nexus 5 screen coating rub off.
No drop in image quality at all. I really wasn't sure about it but there is no downside to it.
It works perfectly well with my Nexus 5 Cruzerlite TPU Case (A2) and the combination means the phone is pretty much bullet proof whilst still being slim and lightweight.

I've been using the MIME Feather with the Diztronic TPU case for a couple of months now. I've had zero issues with this combination.

Moto 360 Screen Protector Glas. tR-oleophobic_coating #e4e4e4

So, looks like this is definitely going to happen. Since a watch is something you hang around with a great collision risk, I think I'm going to bet for it. Also 19.99$ is not that much compared to a standard Spigen Glas protector, and the quality is really worth it.
Here is the link, it still redirects to 404 as of 09/06/14, but you can already know they are working on it.

I am bad about scratching up my watch faces. I ordered a Skinomi from Amazon but it doesn't ship until 9/19. It is a wet application but it will allow it to be moved a little during install to get it perfect. I used Skinomi on my Pebble and I liked it. I found some cheaper ones but I figured I would go with a brand that has been around for a bit.

These kind of screen protectors completely take away from the smooth feel and brightness of the screen. Trust me...I have used similar products and currently only use tempered glass screen protectors for my Note 3 and Surface Pro 3 and my family members' S5's, the glass screen protectors are the way to go to really protect our watches.

Yes as long as you buy one that has a rounded edge (taperes downward at the edges so it does not feel sharp). My Spigen Glas.tr for my Note 3 is rounded at the edges.
I'll get getting the Glas.tR version once it comes out but for now I got this one for 4.95 before the price went up

RXMO, I just purchased the one you were talking about. I'm just waiting for it to dry. How did yours turn out?
Depends how thin it is. I don't want something that will be noticeable. 20 dollars seems like a lot, but considering I just blew 20 bucks on a band that I probably wont be using anymore it would have been better spent on a glass SP
I got the Armorshield protector. It seems ok but there are some issues.
When applying the protector do not press down too hard on the squeegee to get all the moisture out. Leave some moisture on there, enough to move it around. When I tried to get it all out it looked like it had ripples all over it. When I left some moisture on it, it looks ok. Then let it dry the full 24 hours. I checked back at around 12 hours and the screen was all grainy. Once I went the full 24 the screen looked fine. One issues I had and I am not sure what happened but there is one spot with either some kind of tear or a strand of fabric somehow on the protector and it make one tiny spot look grainy even after the drying. I tried to reapply a couple of times and it is still there. Trying to get a replacement and it is probably isolated to me. One thing to note is the protector is kind of soft. If you were to poke it with a fingernail you would leave a dent. Over time I think the dent does go away but leaves a small mark there. I don't think my Skinonmi on my Pebble has the same problem, but it could.
Reading reviews on Amazon it seems the Skinomi screen protectors are *wrong* size, e.g. too big. Yikes!
Also, wondering if the skin interferes with BPM sensor or other functionality. The Skinomi screen and skin with brushed steel design looks good.
But, until confirmed the size is correct(ed) I suggest *do* *not* *buy* Skinomi. Anyone try these yet?
I'm ordering this from Amazon

I also ordered these. I haven't heard back from ArmorShield on my replacement. I hosed something up with that, I somehow got more fibers from the cloth when I tried to reapply and wash it off. Its on there now for protection but doesn't look great. I have use the type above on phones and much perfer them, but they might be a little harder to line up. At least with the wet ArmorShield application you have time to line it up. I also didn't have any sizing issues with Armorshield.
I'm looking for an all body one. One that's covers the sides as well. But alas I will be waiting months before something like that is out and about
Let me know how they fit, i've been waiting around looking for one.
Got the iLLumishield. It feels ok but the size is just a hair too big. It has a slight lip where it hangs over the screen just by a hair. My ArmorSuit had an exact fit. Waiting for my replacement and these will do in a pinch.
$20 does seem a bit steep for such a small piece of glass. I'm going to wait for the Skinomi Tech Glass to hit the market for the 360, I have it on my Note 3 and really like it. It's thin and unnoticeable. I put a ArmorShield plastic version on the 360 just temporarily. It's okay but it still has that plastic look with some slight irregularities here and there. It seems scratch resistant enough I think the tech glass will be better. I think I paid $17 for note 3 version can imagine the Moto at less than one third the area can be worth more than $10.

Not isolated to you, mine did the same. Looking for an alternative, hopefully tempered glass whenever available.
I just applied the ones from Xtremeguard. The fit is perfect and it applied fine. But it has that classic rubbery feeling like their other screen protectors (and other brands with the same type) always do. It's fine for me. I sort of miss the glass feel but with the price I paid for it i'm okay with the slight compromise.

Accessories Screen Protector for OnePlus 11!

Suggest me a good quality screen protector to get for the OnePLus 11 which I'm going to get on 7th Feb!
As always for, a real good quality is glass screen protector from Aliexpress, 2pcs for around 10-15USD, glue and UV light.
I have used cheap chinese glass protectors for my Iphone 12, OP7Pro, OP 8T and always was very happy with them.
The only other and real alternative for me is a synthetic sapphire glass protector for ~100USD. All the other protector between them are pretty much the same in the long run.

Isn't that the UV and glue protector sticks completely like a superglue and it's very hard to remove it, saw some videos about them.
I've seen the Sapphire glass protector it is great but too expensive for me! I've my eyes on Spigen, Gadgetshieldz screen guard, and ESR but I want a user experience so I can buy one for my phone.

Nice, I'll check out some tempered glass brands, or else I'm going to get a film protector from Gadgetshieldz because the tempered glass on a curved-display phone will break more easily than on a flat-screen phone! I've seen reviews on drop tests where the glass breaks because the case will not fully cover the curved edges.
I don't use screen protector.
After 4 years using a 6T, i just got a very thin line only visible under light and close inspection. Moreover, a 45Kg dummbell fell exactly over the screen phone (it was on the floor) and....crystal clear, not even a single mark or damage/deformation on the screen. ¿The almost invisible scratch? Carrying both phone and keys toguether, or even worse but it's plausible. I also owned the Nexus 4/5 and Moto Z Force and don't remember any scratch, at least no one to be concerned.
It's not the answer to you question but just a suggestion, don't spoil the touch/slide feeling, cleariness, and clean look of a naked screen. Of course you can get one of those stupid pseudo-"tempered glass" 9H (it's actually cheap polymer plastic), ... or a simple plastic one wich will be always shady due to have dozens of fingerprints (it's oil after all) without remedy) and will left a yellowish tint over the surface of the crystal (this is a fact, not my subjective impression).
Oh, i remember my Nexus 4, i also thought screen protector was a must, well after a year, i gor rid of it (the tint left by the plastic was there) and never looked behind.
And now we (I) have a more shadows fae beyond like turning a 799$ high end phone (Apple/samsung/former Huawei/etc consider OP10 not a high end (i don't want to say flagship) a mid range ) in a 206g brick.
Bumper case is another story. Now using the 1+ Sandstone and the same issue as with OP6T again, ****, the slider is almost unreachable to be operated propertly. I have been using a generic silicon case while i was waiting the new case, and slider hole was fine, hey, 1,89$ in AliExpress. I just bought it (the same) from Amazon for 10€, of course returned it with a random excuse when i got the new case. I will probably order half a dozen from Ali just to try.
I wass expecting the horror with ColOrxygenOS, but for the moment i havent suffered a stroke

I've never used screen protectors either. I've got 2 front pockets - one for my keys and one for my phone. It's not that hard. Anything that would actually damage the screen would shred the protector and damage your screen anyway. I've never had any scratches on my screens and a screen protector is not going to save you from an unlucky drop. I really don't see the point.
Stopped counting how many times I dropped my phone and it was saved by a glass screen protector - I would probably say dozens of time and I usually go through 2-3 protectors on each phone in average, depending how long I can live with a look of cracked protector before replacing it.
With typical, accidental drops the additional glass layer absorbs the impact and the phone just bounces of the impact area. In my personal experience for last 10 years with HTC M7, M9, Oneplus 7 Pro, Oneplus 8T and iPhone 12, I have never encountered a drop forceful enough to penetrate the protective layer and damage the actually screen glass under it.
Sure, it is possible but never happened to me when dropping phone from front jacket pocket heights, pants pocket height, going in or out of the car with a phone in the hand, pushing the phone from shelf or the bathroom sink etc.
Last week I removed my uv glass screen protector from OP7Pro that I was preparing for a trade in and it looked perfect and if I would want to trade it locally I would get a slightly better price for a mint condition screen rather than a used one for 5 years.
I've had pretty good luck with film over the years and the ONLY reason I started using them is they don't attract finger prints as bad as glass.

For some reason I started using tempered glass ones for the year I had an iphone 12 pro. I broke like 4 of them, it was ridiculous. I stopped using them after a few months and never did manage to hurt the screen, even though I broke the "protectors" left and right. And I use my phones in industrial applications (Im an industrial maintenance tech), they take some abuse.
Fwiw this phone comes with a film protector already applied out of the box. I haven't removed it yet and it's been fine so far.

Exactly. I'll leave the pre-installed screen protector on until it looks like ****. But when it's time to take it off, I won't replace it. Did the same with my 6T.
I see here people have said the 10 pro screen protectors fit, now that a lot more people have the phone has anyone tried this with any tempered glass ones with success?
Any OnePlus 10 Pro screen protector will work on the 11 since the screen (in physical size) is the same.

4 days ago I ordered the SmartDevil glass since it seems to be a chinese copy of Whitestone glass with the entire bundle (minus the glue foams for the bracket).
I ordered also 2 no name glass screens on 9th of February but it still in shipping, no idea if it will be delivered.
I was curious about the SmartDevil bundle so we will see how much does it actually helps and what is the quality of the bracket.

Yes, tempered glasses always break often so as I said before a film protector and a case covering the edges of the screen is enough for protection!
