Cover: Right apps at the right time (Lockscreen) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547306
Just browsing through xda and found this it looks wonderful on the Note 3. Take a look and try it out. I love it!

Thanks for sharing this. I actually discovered this a couple days ago & just haven't tried it.

Seems very cool. Only think that sux is. The long press home button doesn't turn on the flashlight anymore.. Running tweaked

Damn...was about to install this to try...no go for me.

Hmm... I wonder if that holds true for any lockscreen app. Most likely does... interesting though.

Yeah I agree, I don't use flash as much as I should. I'll email the devs to see if they're planning on doing widgets or some sort of gesture for flashlight. Turning the phone sideways triggers the camera which is cool.

Screenshots

I doubt there is, but is there another way to screenshot without the hand gestures on a stock phone? Everyone I try I end up clicking something

Quick Glance feature

Swipe your hand slowly over the sensor and the phone will show time, missed calls, messages, and battery percentage. I think it's a pretty tight feature. Was just wondering how many people actually knew about it and use it.

It's a nice feature but I wonder how much battery it will drain? If you think about it, in order for it to respond when you put your hand over the sensor, it means the sensor is always going to be on. That means something is running all the time.

I do use it. the first few days I had the Note II I kept wondering why is it turning on by itself. there was no ad about it like the other touchwiz features of the S III on youtube. then I found lots of touchwiz features on settings. LOTS.

Good point about battery life, but battery life on this device is so good at least for me. I'm willing to to sacrifice what ever drain it does use tho. I love this freakin phone.

it needs to lay on a flat surface

Just checked, this feature keeps the proximity sensor always on when the screen is off. To test, turn the phone of in a dark room, you should see a red glow in the sensor.

Even laying the phone flat on my side table it seems to work sometimes. This feature is good but seems to be hit and miss.

I tried using it for a while and noticed it had noticeably more battery drain for me. I guess YMMV though.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I also experienced a noticable battery drain after enabling the feature. Then when I turned my screen on it would not sleep. Rebooted and it works fine.

Its a really nice feature for when ur walkimg around ur office or house and just wanna see if u have any missed txt, but i did read something online where it drained the battery super fast. So i shut the feature off and i literally got 5hrs more out of the battery, wasn't worrying through out the work day if it was gonna die.

used it for about an hour, was pretty meh. Good concept, but bad implementation. I have my phone on my desk and it was always turning on and off. But when I needed it to to show me quick glance data, it worked about 50% of the time.
The only thing from that menu I love is the Palm Swype to screen capture.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I have been testing the quick glance feature and noticed that it works best in low light conditions, especially in darkness..
I sleep with my phone on my bed (I use it as my alarm clock) and with the lights out quick glance works for me every time. I have gotten to like it because the screen is much easier on the eyes, at night (dimmer), than hitting the power button to check the time/notifications. I disable it during the day though.
The Palm swipe for a screen shot is awesome. It is a much faster way to take a screen shot than having to take out and use the S-Pen.. I wish the screen didn't turn white while swiping though. Not a big deal I just think the loud click upon taking the shot is enough to let the user know the shot had been taken.
I used it when I got my Note in November but as mentioned, it does cause a very noticeable battery drain.

my favorite on there too. I used the quick glance the first few days then just got tired of it. I prefer the smart alert, it vibrates when I go pick it up if I have a missed call or message.

How to get floating multi window

Disclaimer: I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone by following these steps nothing should happen but if something occurs dont come crying to me
First what you do it get exposed framework and install it (look up how to get it)apps shown in first picture.
Second thing is find android ui shown in second picture.
Third thing to do is change the resolution shown in the third picture you can change it to 600×1024 or 800×1280 doesnt matter which and dpi doesnt matter but you can change it to your liking
Fourth thing is hit the save button on top right and reboot and if done right the multi window should have a pin shown in fourth picture.
Fith thing is enjoy and if you followed these steps correct you have floating windows like in the fifth picture

One thing is I found out that recents wont come up by holding the home button may differ on yours but the way I got around it is using gmd guesture control and made my recents come up with 2 finger swipe up from bottom I like it better but that is the onpy bug I have found so far

I got device incompatibility error in play store after changing system dpi
What did you change it to and your on a note 2 right and if you want I can post a picture of my setup that works perfect

Thanks for the awesome tip, but quick question...with this mod, are you able to minimize the floating windows, or is there no way to do that?

That's not exactly what I meant. I knew it could do that, but I mean like actually minimizing the floating app, like how you do on a regular desktop OS. I remember I saw it somewhere on the International Note II forum, but I didn't know if it was possible on the AT&T version.
Your probly thinking of pop up browser... you can minimize it
After I make the change and reboot my lock screen is enlarged. Any suggestions?

Change dpi to 260 that's what I did I posted the picture of it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
This is pretty sweet. 4 apps running on 1 screen.
I did everything it says to do and for some reason nothing happens when i reboot and i try it
Anyone who needs help is more then welcome to PM me and get help

oh, I agree with that; I dont use the spen much with the phone; I just bought a note 8.0 tablet, so I use it mostly there...
GMD gets great reviews, so I am sure its a nice app, but for occasional spen users, the free apps with Papyrus make a nice combo...

Thank you
Those 2 apps used together give me the functionality that I lost when switching to AOSP. Now when I detach my SPen the phone vibrates, notifies me in status bar that SPen has been detached, and opens Papyrus automatically.
Now there's definitely no reason to go back to bulky TW

These free options look good, but they do not look like they would restore gestures.
I have been using GMD along with papyrus, and while it does not completely restore SPen functionality, I have all the gestures I want (which isn't much) and with Papyrus, I do not Miss SNote much (except the little popup note). Otherwise, completely happy with these two as a replacement.

Widgets not displaying on note 4

Ok. I got my note 4 today and as usual, it's full on beast mode! Even though we don't have root yet, I'm in heaven.
Problem I seem to be having is when I go to add widgets on my home screens. They say they are added but when I get back to my homescreen, they aren't there. I've rebooted s billion times, rest the phone back to default and whatever else I can think of. It's not ALL of the widgets though. I've had it happen with widgetsoid, beautiful widgets and hd widgets.
Has anyone else had this problem or can soneonecekse on the note 4 try and duplicate this problem? I got my main homescreen totally blank because I can't add any of the widgets I use. I'm kinda depressed about it lol

i have been having the same problem with my Note 4 been using beautiful widgets for years owned every galaxy and never had a problem until the note 4 can you please tell me how you got them to work . thanks
The only time it happens usually if the screen has no more space. The stock home screen is full because it has 4 wigets, weather which is 4x2 and google search that is 2x1. So there is no more space on that page.
Honestly, I got tired of screwing around with it and after 1 or 2 factory resets, it just started working. Not sure what was up with that, but thats all it took for me to get it going. Hope you get it to work
