[Q] T-Mobile 4.3 Missing Motion - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So there used to be a motion to open the camera from the lockscreen without having to use a widget. I adored this feature but it looks like they took it out. However, trying to find confirmation of this on the internet is proving... Difficult. Can anyone provide some insight of either knowing if it is possible to regain this capability or if it is impossible altogether?
SGH-T999, Stock TW 4.3, rooted.

One other person has asked about it. But wouldn't it be just as easy, if not more so to just use the shortcut? Just a quick swipe and its open.

It freed up space for other apps or widgets to be used and could be activated without looking. Just touch screen and tilt. I loved it as a feature. No idea why they removed it.

[Q] Recent Applications Dialogue

Hello everyone, long time forum creeper, first time poster
Anyway, I'm running AOKP JB on my Sprint GS3, and I've noticed that, through a program I bought on the market, "GMD Gesture Control" It's actually possible to invoke the GB version of the Recent Application Dialogue, instead of the ICS and forward version which shows screenshots of the open apps in a list. I've never actually liked the new list, as you can see all the icons in the old dialogue, instead of scrolling through a list for what you want to find. I've just always been really annoyed that google sacrificed functionality for style. So what I was wondering was if it was possible to bind this, since it is apparently still active, but dormant in 4.1.1, to the hold down the home button action, as GMD Gesture Control really kills the battery. There had actually been an option for this in the ICS version of AOKP that I had used on my Epic 4G, followed by my Epic 4G touch, and I LOVED it. Unfortunately they have yet to merge this functionality in to their JB builds of AOKP. If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciate it, been looking for a way to do this forever! Thanks!

[Q] Can I remove Google Now from 4.2 Lockscreen?

So I used Lockscreen Policy hoping it will also remove the google now but it only removed the widgets and camera.
I use WidgetLocker with a sense3 slider and I keep hitting the google now icon and has been fairly frustrating.
If you have any tips to remove it that would be great. I am using the stock 4.2 I am rooted and unlocked but I just haven't had the chance to play with other roms yet since this phone actually has been functioning properly unlike my Optimus 3D. But if you know of a rom that this doesn't show up or has the option to remove it I will consider that as well.
wrong thread.
disable or uninstall google search app. at least i do since im not using it.

Kitkat was supposed to have Camera access on lock screen

I thought that 4.4.2 was properly implementing the Lockscreen widgets where the access to things like Camera is provided so that you can quickly record a photo/video without having to enter your PIN or pattern but when you need to actually see those images, you will be asked to enter PIN or pattern. That's how it works in all phones (at least my wife's HTC One).
How come we can not get this feature in S4? I thought this is what they fixed in 4.4.2 but I am still not able to select Lockscreen widgets if I use PIN or pattern.

You see that icon only because you are not using the secure access lock like a PIN, password or pattern lock.
One of the advertised features of the 4.4.2 on Samsung S4 was to bring the Camera icon to the Lockscreen. Wasn't it?

Technically they DID bring it to the lockscreen. You just have to have your lock screen set on a specific unlock method. It's actually kind of obvious why the camera icon is only on the swipe method. All the other methods require extra security and a bigger layout for the number pad/keyboard/and pattern circles. Plus if you're going to have that kind of extra security in locking your phone, it's dumb to be able to bypass that with a camera widget. Somebody can get ahold of your phone and load the camera up without even unlocking the device and easily go through your gallery. And who knows you might be able to get to your homescreen by hitting home from within the camera app after loading it. Then the person has full access to your phone.
Personally I don't see the big deal of 4.4 having a camera icon on the lockscreen. You were always able to add shortcuts to your lockscreen so why not just add your camera app to one of those shortcuts? Meh.

Wait...I think you are confused. The ability to add widgets to the lockscreen was always there since 4.2. You just had to move to this insecure method of "swipe to unlock". This is not new in 4.4.2.
What was supposed to be new in 4.4.2 update for Samsung TW was what has been a feature in almost all phones since 4.2, and that is to do it securely i.e. allow opening the camera app and allow to take photos and record video but don't provide access to the gallery or the phone. When the user wants to access anything inside the phone, he/she has to enter the PIN/password/pattern. That's how it worked in any sane phone circa 2012/13.

Yeah I am aware it's been available since 4.2. I get what you're saying now, my bad.
If you are rooted, you can try an Xposed module called Samsung Multiple Widgets. This allows you to access the camera if you are on a PIN unlock screen. I've had success on 4.3. The module, for me, isn't working correctly on 4.4.2. You can try it yourself.

That module is broken and its dev has been saying "anytime" now for sometime. He is a busy guy! So, I don't expect that to change.
That was the reason why I was excited about KK update for TW, hoping that Samsung will finally do it. But alas, no luck!

[Q] Lock screen apps

So with the new exploit for 4.4 by jcase (thanks for that by the way), I have root access and s-off. Being as my m7 is still relatively new and I'm not sick of Sense (yet), I installed the stock 4.4 m7 rom. I have no complaints except for the fact that my apps do not want to show up in the lock screen. I also can't seem to add any widgets to the home screen (not that I want to but just seems odd). Anyway, wondering if this is something that I'm just missing or if it is a flaw in the rom.
Thanks

Sense 5.5 lockscreen is different then previous versions of Sense.
You only have limited widgets that you can add to the lockscreen.
You have to swipe to the side from the top right edge of the lockscreen.
To add widgets to the homescreen, tap and hold on the homescreen, you should have a bunch of widgets that can be added.
Everything works in the rom, it's stock, as HTC made it.
Sounds like you just aren't familiar with Sense 5.5 yet.
There are guides online about the changes and differences between Sense 5 and Sense 5.5 that may help you see what has changed.
I understand that the lockscreen has changed in sense 5.5. I have been using the phone for about a month. The lockscreen just doesnt give me any option to swipe in any direction. I can add widgets to the home screen, its just the lock screen thats giving me the issue. And usually if I recall correctly, on the lock screen, there are usually some translucent arrows indicating that you can swipe to add widgets, and i dont seem to have that
Thanks
There's a setting somewhere to enable lockscreen widgets. Been a while since I flashed s new Rom so I can't remember where.
Sent from my HTC One
So I ended up flashing a new rom with sense 6 in it so this is not an issue anymore. Thanks anyway

S8+ Touchwiz/Icons for Tab S3

hi,
I downloaded couple of APKs from Sammobile, especially from the S8 and install on my tab s3, it worked perfectly. No more Apps button, just swipe up, icons from the S8 ( some of it) but the main draw back, though its not significant to me, the icon becomes smaller if you change to 5x6. But, so much smooth now.
The version I downloaded from Sammobile would not rotate into landscape, which made my keyboard case useless. I had to to a full reset to get back to stock. Has anyone found a version that will work in landscape?
Any way to get this with landscape option?
I would also like to use this, as I HATE the massive icons on the stock launcher, but I almost never use my tab in portrait orientation.
Has anyone found a way to allow this launcher, but also allow landscape?
(Sorry, I know I'm late to this conversation, but I just got my S3)
Hi all...
very kindly, could someone give me the stock version of touchwiz for the s3 galaxy tab?

If you download a stock ROM from Samsung, you can just open it up using a zip program and get the apps out that way. IMHO that's the safest way to get stock files.
