Unable to add my e-mail account using e-mail app - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried several times to add my e-mail account, the one I normally use, apart from my Gmail one, which I successfully added, using the e-mail app that is preinstalled. It keeps on connecting to the server, but it eventually it does not.
No problem with the mail account, in three different pc's and my mobile phone, a Nokia N8.
What am I supposed to do?

You could have a setting wrong. What type of account is it and which step is it failing on? Fwiw, I prefer K-9 Email to the stock app.

Exchange Activesync-hotmail

Has anyone successfully sync with their hotmail account?
I tried to change the server address to m.hotmail.com and successfully lead me to another page to sync with emails and accounts but when I click sync, it will show an error saying failed to create the account. please try again later
I think that all hotmail accounts have not yet been enabled for exchange active sync (unfortunately)...
Mine has always worked fine......
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I get 'failed to create the account. Please try again later' on my device.
Perhaps it's not enabled on my account. Any way of telling if it has?
Hi guys, I do have exchange active sync working on my Hotmail account. Sync of email, contacts and calendar work flawless. Hang in there apparently this week more news will be made available regarding EAS.
I have the same problem.
it seems to connect to the server, but is then unable to create the account.
I think i have the wave 4 hotmail. but supposedly that is not all you need.
Same problem for me. Hopefully my account becomes enabled soon
It's not your account that's the problem, it's HTC's mail app.
Try downloading 'Improved Email' from the market, it's free and works like a charm.

Changed to pop3 and sync with computer at the end of the day, emails disapear from phone and the emails that I read (opened) on phone don't appear in my Outlook inbox (when i send/recieve) & still calendar changes on phone dont sync back to pc.
Have tried other email clients on phone, no change.
running windows 7 pro 32bit
microsoft office enterprise 2007 sp2
HTCsync 3.0.5481
what do i do next?

deleting the accounts and re adding doesnt work.
email provider is google apps using gmail pop and smtp servers. on our own domain.
ROM is the stock Telstra (aust) android rom, latest update.
Worked on IMAP but it was slow retrieving emails.
with POP we have all sorts of problems.
why dont you try adding that account in the gmail app or use gmail activesync (google it for the settings)?
for the gmail app you can create labels which will take you straight to the account or account/label you want.
Or add your account to the email app using gmail active sync.
I use it the first way and it works like a charm.

does the app support custom domains?
ours isnt @gmail.com its @cscommunications.com.au but uses gmail servers
Yes it supports custom domains.
you can use default settings from the gmail app....
got the email on the gmail app and seems to be working okay.
Just left with the bloody calendar problem!
adding entry's on PC and syncing to phone works fine, they show up on phone, but editing or adding entry's on the phone will not sync the changes back to pc.
What do you guys recommend?
-Much Appreciated

[SOLVED] Can't create Email account with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync!

Can't live a day without email, and since yesterday I can't create any email account with the Samsung stock email app through Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. It keeps saying "Setup couldn't finish: Unable to connect to server". I have tried YMail, GMail, none works! I guess I am not the only one and it's a MS server problem?
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Kindly check and confirm.
TIA.
Huh?

Ok, what specific email service are you trying to setup (GMail, YMail, etc.).
What is the name of the server that you are trying to connect to? For example, the ActiveSync server for GMail is m.google.com.
Lets start with that and see where we go from there.

Did u try add accont from "settings -> add account -> email" atleast for me phone automatically converted it to exchance acticesync account. (Windows Live account)

GMail. That's how it worked since the day I got the phone, but now it isn't working. It's obviously a different Note 2 (the old one was having a problem, so service center provided me a new one), but that shouldn't be any reason.
I just type my username, then password, select Manual setup, tap on MS Exchange ActiveSync, then I tap on next and that error pops up! The server address is m.google.com like you said. But I've tried with different address like m.gmail.com, no luck!
Now I had a Nandroid backup from my old Note 2, which I was restoring some minutes back with Nandroid Manager, and when I restored the email and Exchange service the old email data is back, as Exchange ActiveSync.
This is the most weird thing I've seen since a long time!

Tried that mate. No better.
Now could any one of you test it for me? I'm strongly recommending to NOT delete the account you're already having with ActiveSync, just try with another account and see, please? I've GMail and YMail accounts, so can't say about any other account.
Thanks in advance.

It's the default, I'm not changing anything.
The domain by default is, \[email protected]

For GMail, the domain should be google.

I've already tried that, no difference! Actually I've tried a lot of things showed up by Googling, none if them is working!
I don't know, could this be this Unique device identifier or something, which is messing something?

AFAIK Google have dropped support for active sync for Gmail on new device since last week Jan 13.

Yep read at least 6-7 articles about it. What a stupidity by Google! http://www.theverge.com/2012/12/14/...-sync-exchange-support-for-gmail-calendar-and
Anyway, that was it for me, created a Hotmail account and a Live account as well (love the name, Live, lol) and Exchange ActiveSync created the account easy.
Now I guess there is no way I can have all my messages transferred to the Hotmail account from the Gmail account right, and have the new emails in Hotmail instead of Gmail? I have to manually edit the email id everywhere from Gmail to Hotmail or is there any trick?
Yes, This is good way and I am also doing same since long. I have yahoo account and forwarding Gmail to yahoo always.
I don't think you need to change ID everywhere, just use both ID atleast for now, may be there will be some solution for Gmail comes.

[Q] I747M can't send email when on wi-fi

Hi everyone,
My mother-in-law has the I747M with Telus, completely stock, and cannot send any emails through her third-party email provider when connected on wi-fi. Tried POP3 as well as IMAP settings, as well as SSL on and SSL off. Followed instructions from that email provider's set up doc as well.
This issue ONLY happens with this device, no matter on wi-fi at her home or wi-fi at my home. She has an iPad2 which is set up on same wi-fi networks and uses the same third-party email provider settings, but can send emails fine when on either wi-fi network (wtf, iOS doing something that Android can't???)
Incoming emails are coming through fine either way. Outgoing email will only send when she turns off wi-fi and the phone connects back onto the wireless network. Otherwise they just sit in Outgoing folder.
I've exhausted my searches both on Google and here.
Hoping NOT to have to set up a web email account to redirect emails, and hoping NOT to have to install a third-party email app if possible (aware of MailDroid or K9Mail).
Thanks in advance!

[Q] How to use email direct push

How do I setup an email account (that supports it, like outlook.com) as push instead of "sync every xx minutes" ?
I just got the GPro today and am setting everything up, however I've been unable to see a way to create an outlook, com email account
and have it push.

Have you tried just using the Outlook.com App for this which has Push Notifications?
calmly ntsNuro
I've tried several times.
Outlook.com just keeps saying "Outlook has stopped" when I try to setup an account.
When I get to the permissions screen and press "OK" to accept is when I get that message.
Any idea ?
Thanks,
Fred

Have you tried to clear the App Cache and Data from the App Manager then try to add an account again? I can say that it does work once the Outlook app is setup. I get my new emails as they arrive.

Yup, no change.
The stupid stock android email app allows me to set that up as an exchange account with "push" however I have to physically open the app to get notifications of new emails and actually get the email !! What good is that. I have to open the app up ever 15 mins or whenever I want to see if I have new email
Arrrggggg
Coming from the Blackberry line trying to move to Andriod but soooo crazy.
Blackberry is a snap to set email up on.
Android is making it as difficult as possible
Fred
EDIT :
The stock app appears to work now, with push, after a phone reboot.
Reminds me Microsoft stuff lol
