Moto G Magnet screen off/on - Moto G Accessories

Waiting for Motorola to ship official flip case to UK got hand on 99p one off amazon - (£3.50 now) all in one type with magnet for case cover.
Fits nice but noticed the magnet does not switch screen on and off like on my Nexus 7 - as far I remember no setting was needed. Also played around with another magnet to try and locate the magnet switch on the Moto G but no joy....Anyone with the flip case knows where the magnet is positioned?

Magnet is right side on screen, between power and volume button.

[Review] GreatShield case w/bluetooth keyboard

Hey all!
Picked up the GreatShield case on ebay for my Nexus 7 for $25. Been working great so far, so thought I'd put up a review!
It's fake leather, but feels good. Stitching has been holding up very well. Case is designed for the Nexus 7 2013, and as you can see in the pics it's got openings for the camera as well as the speakers. The tablet does slide around slightly, especially when trying to work the power or volume, but it does hold the tablet well enough.
Battery life on the keyboard has been great! I usually plug it in once a week but that's just been out of habit. Haven't had the battery die on me yet.
Case has a built in stand that holds the tablet up, stand had a metal insert that secures it in place. Stand is held to the case with a magnet when it's not in use.
Also has a magnet in the case that activates the screen on/off function.

check on ebay & amazon though, will usually find it cheaper then direct from Greatshield

Flip Cover from Amazon

I have bought this flip cover from Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H1X8FHY
It is very nice but unfortunately it does not have the magnet placed in the cover for wake/sleep functions. I was thinking of modifying the case so that it does have this feature. I thought about sourcing some strong magnetic strips to put into the credit card slot on the inside of the cover. This was when it comes into contact with the screen it will sleep and when its lifted away it will wake.
Do you think this will work? Could it cause any issues with the phone?
This has bad idea written all over it.
So if you lose your phone, you lose your wallet too
Install Gravity Screen - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree and have it set to wake/sleep the phone via the proximity sensor. Does not require root, tiny bit of extra battery drain. Works perfectly with non smart flip covers. I also have the Ringke.
havant bought one myself yet but the Orzly Wallet Case which has the wake function is only £4.99 on ebay or £6.99 on amazon and has some good reviews.
personally i would rather pay a fiver than mess around sticking magnets in other cases.

Official flip cover - $20 shipped

I purchased one of these a week ago and came in today, it's the official AT&T / LG flip cover with wireless charging and NFC.
Came in today, in a plastic bag inside a padded envelope. Works great, feels great, definitely the real thing.
Don't mean to sound like an ad, it's not my listing, but I've seen people getting replacement back covers without Wireless charging for $30+shipping, so this at $20 is a steal!

One question, if I hold the phone or sit the phone on the table, back side down, the front flip cover part doesn't stay all the way shut. The right side is about 1/4th inch up off the screen. The auto screen on/off still works but it'd be nice if the cover stayed "tight" on the screen. Though I understand there is no magnet or anything on the far side so it may not be possible, is it... possible?
" the front flip cover part doesn't stay all the way shut. "
That's probably why it was a RETURN aka REFURBISHED and why there was only one of it. Discounted.
I just bought 2 from the same seller (extra one by accident, hope this seller a4c will let me return it for refund. He didn't even responded to any of my email telling him to just send one). I want to know what do you think of this flip case overall, since you've been using it for a while by now. Does it protect the phone from accidental drops well? I'm thinking I'll have to bind the cover with a large rubber band or something to keep it from opening up when it drops. Right now I'm using am Abecus flip case. It works okay, but holding it in my hand is kind of awkward and tiring. I'm hoping to do better with this lg flip case.
Yeah I'm also searching for a nice smart case for the G Pro and would love your feedback
I just got mine today, and I must say,I'm kind of disappointed. This flip cover case offers no real protection to the phone what so ever. The cover itself may protect the screen from scratches in the pocket or bag, but I already have a screen protector for that. It's really just a lg e980 back cover with a screen cover flap attach to it. There is no protection to the four corners of the device if the phone falls. The battery most likely to come out if the fall is a hard one. The flap itself doesn't attach to anything, there isn't a magnet or a button to keep the flap close. The overall appearance of the phone with this case, is just like the original phone with a black plastic screen cover, but it does give a smart look. Earlier the op mentioned that the cover won't stay tight. On mine it works fine, may be it's not staying tight due to that the synthetic leather needs be worn before it will fit right, but it's really not an issue. The plus side of this case is that when you close the flap, it does make the device sleeps, and open the cover wakes the device. This feature alone is worth the price of the case. Using the cover to wake and puts it to sleep beats the gestures and the button any day. I'm not sure about other features I have heard about, such as the NFC and the wireless charging because I haven't tested them. I may return this case because it doesn't protect my Phone, but my other cheap wallet case is already showing signs of wearing, and this case does look sharp. So I don't know. I may have to shop for another case soon. I will post in a few days after using this case for a while.

Well they just suppose look fancy but where never intended to really protect the phone.

What's fancy about a piece card board like screen cover attach to the back cover? I figure since they call it a case, it suppose to protect the phone. My cheap wallet case offers some protection when I drop it. They really should call it 'screen cover' because there is really not a case anywhere. But like I said, the best part of this 'case' is the screen sleep/wake function. I may grow to like this special back cover after all.

[Q] Smart Cover functionality

I've purchased a cheap cover with a circle window from Hong Kong that isn't working with the cover screen. I did drop my phone earlier so I'm concerned that the phone is at fault and not the cover - can anyone confirm where the locations of the magnets that are used to activate the smart lock screen are? I'm trying to test it out manually but nothing is happening. I assume it's magnets like most other phones.

I believe it's a sensor somewhere near the front facing camera. Have you btw enabled the ASUS Cover from the ASUS Customized Settings? Also, not all these flip cases work especially the cheap ones.
For e.g. this one works quite well - http://amzn.com/B00WDZCQ48
But it would be impossible to find out unless you use the cover with someone else who has the same phone or try a different cover.

Yep, fully enabled. I assumed it was at the top, annoying as the phone isn't available in my part of the world, covers aren't available locally either. I was trying to use magnets to check as generally that works on other phones. So far, no dice. Oh well, I'll buy a new case.
the smart cover magnet sensor is around left bottom, near the back key area of the screen.
I got a couple of cheap Nillkin sparkle flip covers with cutout and they both work perfectly.
I too brought third party case from hongkong its mercury goospery case . In my case the magnet is there and view flip appears if i tilt the flip a lil down. There is card holder too. Can i insert small magnet in card holder??will this have any harm??

Flip Case Issue.

Hey, i bought an aftermarket flip cover from ebay. The opening circle, doesn't have a glass but i am fine with it, since i have a glass protector on.
The issue is, when i flip it all the way so i can hold it, the magnet sensor activates and puts the phone to whatever it is, when the cover is closed.
Any issues with the official flip cases?
And i hope someone creates a stock rom for this, because the battery even on standby, sucks.
Cheers!
I bought a knock-off case from a local store that states it's for the ZE551ML - Goospery WOW Series Flip Case cover.
No issues for me when flipping the case all the way back, but the magnet inside the flip is definitely misaligned. The smartview/Asus Cover only works if I hold the flip-cover down and to the left. Does yours work correctly when closed? I can't speak to the functionality of the official case or other knockoffs, but I'm curious. There are so many on eBay that are cheaper than what I paid locally, but I'm wondering if they also have magnet issues.
Been using the Asus case for a couple of days I never had an issue

I bought the same case now with new update misalinged magnet is creating automatic wakeup. Adding extra magnet helps bt wont it cause any harm
I also had random wake ups and that affected my battery.
And yes all the functions worked correctly.
I want to know the effect of extra magnet .?? Do they harm the device?
Can you please tell me where your magnets are located? I asked a question in the QA forum about my aftermarket case not triggering the screen.

It is in left side near the back button
Thanks. That's where my magnet is. I will try a stronger one.
