[Q] unlocking hardlocked i9195l - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just got a S4 mini (I9195l) in Mexico from Telcel and I planned to buy the unlock code to use it in Panama. However, when I insert the SIM from Panama and turn it on I get a screen with a padlock instead of the field to enter the code. I read that this means that the phone is hardlocked.
Can this be changed by flashing a different firmware?
That is, as to be able to enter the unlock code once it has been flashed.
I have some experience flashing samsung devices and with rooting in general.
I'll appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

I can be wrong but i think this lock is embedded in the modem files, so another firmware can resolve that.
I got this lock when i tried India firmware on my unlocked phone, I put another EU firmware and no more lock.
Just hope that unlock firmware exists for i9195L ^_^

i9195 v. i9195l
Has anyone tried to flash i9195 firmware to a i9195l device?

Don't know on thia device I've flash several Samsung "####L" firmwares with "####" with out problems, should work
If yours its knox free then
search on sammobile for an unbranded firmware knox free and have yours in case flashing the unbranded does not work and don't void warranty
Sent from my GT-I9192 using Tapatalk

Solved it
I tried a couple of i9195 firmware but Odin failed to flash them.
I also tried a couple of i9195l firmware from Colombia and Puerto Rico and once I flashed it the screen said the resolution was off and it wouldn't
boot.
Finally I flashed the I9195LUBUBMK3 firmware from colombia, it booted just fine and the input box for the unlocking code came up.
It is unlocked now and everything seems to be working fine.

I'm on AMG3 baseband Knox free from Telcel... how do you get the unlock code, from Telcel? I heard somewhere that if you want Telcel must give you the unlock code since its a right to us, the users

Telcel is obligated to unlock you phone as long as you contract is up. If it isn't they won't give it to you. I actually bought the code online.
Sorry for not replying sooner.

Hi. I also have the I9195L from telcel but I want to try Iusacell. Can you tell me where (which page) did you buy your code? Thanks in advance!

Hi zombiemcfly
how is the clarity of the camera and overall functionality of the mobile phone after changing the firmware?
In the two firmwares available on sammobile from columbia, which one you used? columbia /columbia comsel?
best regards
Delvy

I flashed the same firmware and got this unlocking code box. (Tigo - columbia)
usually odin should be able to flash, why it is failing for s4 mini? If i could get an unlocked version of firmware........

Hi, used this page http://www.networkunlockcodes.com/
On an additional note, you might need to do a data and cache wipe once you enter the code to get it to work properly.
Good luck.

Thanks

How to sim unlock the trac phone sgh-s970g galaxy s4...and possibly others

Ok so this is still a work in progress but it works, and lte works on my att and tmobile sims. Ill post as many screen shots and be detailed as I possibly can so bear with me.....
So i have a samsung galaxy s4 the sgh-s970g, and a customer needed it unlocked so I thought I would give it a try. Its been a fun phone to mess with. So I am on 4.2.2 and this is the only version I have tested on. I havent tested on 4.3 so let me know if it works for you.
So my baseband is MH3. I used saferoot to root the phone and then I used the twrp for the m919 version to get a custom recovery. after this i went into recovery and made a nandroid. I would advice you do the same if your going to try this, because I am in no way responsible for anything that happens to your phone it will trip your knox counter and your warranty is now void.
ok so I have a tmobile sim in the phone the whole time because it gives you a invalid sim message and when you get rid of that the phone is unlocked. Now I flashed the wicked v-8 4.2.2 custom m919 rom onto the phone. And after that i booted it up like normal and had no problems booting it. So when it finally boots up this is what I see....
know with the tmobile rom it is asking for a sim unlock code. This is where it gets a little tricky.. Youll need to download region lock.apk
you can get it from the play store or from the developer on xda, (great app by the way). So now is when i procedded to use spt box to unlock part of this but i believe you can do it without the spt. so just set your phone up and when your done your settings should look like this... youll still have straight talk radio but everything else including kernel is the tmobile m919.
Ok so now go ahead and open up the region unlock apk and instead of pressing unlock your going to lock it. when its done go ahead and reboot it and then its going to ask your for a password again but this time you know it.. Its going to be 00000000, or atleast it was for me but like I said i dont believe spt is needed to reset the efs i believe the region lock apk will do this and it shoould say unlock succesful like this...
the only kicker is anytime you reboot your phone your going to have to run region lock and lock your modem and then reboot and type in the 8 zeros to unlock if someone figures out a better way that would be awesome.. I also believe this method could be used to help unlock the s4 l720t and sm-n900p without the assisstance of sprint. Any feedback and help would be greatly appreciated and enjoy your unlocked phone....

Region away app works only up to 4.3, so I guess you need to downgrade the baseband to L720T's MK3 modem.
No harm in trying.
Ive tried that

I can only find a 4.3 ROM for L720T not any version before it.
So, just to clarify, do we have to use the ROM or can we do this on stock? I have two of these LTE-T marked phones from Straight Talk that I'd like to use AT&T Straight Talk SIMs with.
tried this on a stock tmobile mdl firmware with the mh3 baseband with no go.. What am i doing wrong?

Yes i have, Tracfone will have to provide an update to fix the issue. Reason is that everytime you enter the code its accepted. But as soon as you reboot the phone it asks for the code again. So not sure how tracfone will handle this.
Well I returned my $250 Black Friday special as I just have no faith in getting an unlock code for these Galaxy S4s as I wanted to use it on AT&T and I had picked up the Tmobile version. I'll have to settled for a used item instead.
So will this phone work with a straight talk att Sim and a tmo Sim as long as its through ST?
After fallowing all the steps I get to the 8 0's hit enter and it just sits at the screen, and says unsuccessful. Sgh-s970g bb:mh3 av:4.2.2
Anyone know of a pay site to unlock this device. The one legit one was for over seas and I'm in US. I tried offering straight talk money and they said this phone needs to be active for 5 more months before they'll provide me the unlock code. I guess you need 12 months of active service to be eligible for the unlock program. The only thing is, is it will only work on a straight talk T-Mobile Sim until then. Tia.
It DOES work. I installed the wikid v8 rom on a SHG-S970G this morning, opened region lock, unlocked modem, relocked modem rebooted, and entered my unlock code and BAM, Successful unlock. Thanks a grand! By the way i bought the unlock code on a 3rd party site. Im now running ATT on the phone.
Straighttalk will only unlock phones purchased on or after Dec 2013, currently active on ST Service & have been active for 12 consecutive months, if you call the unlock department you will be transferred to their automated information center if your phone is not eligible for unlocking, this is just to inform you of the requirements to unlock your device.
ST unlock
I've had mine 6 months... Called them 5 times and they told me everytime they couldn't unlock my phone (sgh s970g). So.. I used CHIMURA to root for free. Installed the m919 twrp for recovery. Installed wikid v8 using twrp installed regionlockaway locked the modem rebooted, entered my unlock code and it gave me a successful unlock. As stated I'm running a Straighttalk AT&T sim on mine.
Extrapolate to S5?

Do you think a similar technique can be applied to a Galaxy S5 from Net10/TracFone? I tried to use a S902L with my (Canadian ) Rogers SIM card and unsurprisingly, it didn't accept it

You mean inderictly is it posible? (dont know how is inderectly ).
Yes, but it requires a seasoned developer to make the modifications necessary. I'm not sure why you'd want to do this though as the AT&T version is far more bloated.

Thanks for your reply.
I absolutely have no that kind of skill.
Anyway, the real reason I came up with that idea is because I cant unlock my T-mobile phone, and I live outside the US.
I've heard and read that sim unlocks by code are having problems.
Unfortunately, flashing firmware will not aid you in unlocking. Have you already tried buying a code for your device?

ROM = Firmware. They're interchangeable terms. Also MetroPCS is owned by T-Mobile, so I don't see your point. Flashing software does not unlock the SIM card slot.

Your phone was unlocked by code. It is permanent. It is not rom dependant. Just like you flashed a different rom than the metro pcs when you originally unlocked your phone, you can upgrade too.
Flash unbranded rom
I have an unlocked G920T (came locked from amazon, but unlocked easily via device unlock app preloaded)
Is there an unbranded firmware I can flash, even if its from a different variant?
Im also interested to know if i can flash a at&t firmware on my tmobile s6. Not for unlock but because the person i gave it to wants to use the ohone on at&t and feel like its an at&t phone. Whatever right? But can i do that? Or would it have to be a custom rom? Orignal firmware would be nice.

[Q] can I unlock a galaxy s6 edge of t-mobile?

Hello guys,
I bought an galaxy s6 edge in USA of Craigslist
And the guy that sold me told me it is locked but he give me a code to unlock
He paid for the code on the site fishblowunlock
So in the next day I back to brazil and tried to unlock the phone with the code
But it don't work...
Have another way to unlock this?
Thank you and sorry about my bad English
not now
Not now my friend, I think that any developer try to do that.
I found a lot information about this, basics T-Mobile put a block for unlock the phone only with his apk.
In the HTC M9 a solution was flash with a ROM and phone ask about the code and put the code buy for Internet same in Sony Z3 but with the G925T its more difficult.
A solution for the T-Mobile galaxy s6 was install a stock ROM for metro PCs but don't exists for galaxy s6 edge.
I try to install a diferents rom with twrp and always its the same, the phone ask for code but the code is not correct.
The code I bought in eBay. In the stock T-Mobile ROM the phone dont ask for code but I put #xxxxx*637*# and the phone ask for code if the phone is with out Sim card the phone accept the code but when put the Sim card nothing happens but if the phone e is with Sim card the code is not accep.
I think the problem its with the baseband, because always when I flash the phone the baseband don't change, its the T-Mobile baseband.
Maybe some developer need any motivation to do that..

Do you believe??,, its a big topic, a lot of people search about this, one solution and don't comments???
cellunlocker omits a few steps, like s6 edge drivers, or debug mode, did you try the flash following that steps too?, can you flash a "custom rom"?, or the problem is always the same, the error message on odin ? no matter what rom do you use ?

S9 Message Your current software version isn't supported. Visit a service centre

Hi first post, please be gentle
I've got an s9 which is on EE UK, I flashed the phone with stock firmware, I did run into a couple of issues where when flashing the phone it got stuck on odm.img so I had to start again but using CSC and not home CSC so I lost everything
When the phone rebooted, it started up in German, so as I had my sim card in, it restarted in English
I'm using the following
G960FXXU2CSA2/G960FOXM2CSA2/G960FXXS2BRK3
Service provider SW SAOMC_SM-G960F_OXM_DBT_PP_0009
DBT/XEU/EVR
When I check for updates I get the following
Your current software version isn't supported. Visit a service centre
Can anyone help on how to put this right, I want to stay on stock firmware, not EE firmware
Thanks in advance
Good morning, I have a problem with my S9 model G9600 which came from the factory with the firmware of Hong Kong, however I tried to change the firmware for the one in Colombia because some voice services of the operators only work with the software of the country. But when trying to flash the part of CSC I mark the error and obviously the installation fails as in a kind of A brick because the logo of Galaxy S9 does not pass and is only solved by reinstalling the firmware with which it came from the factory; I have already made sure that the binary is the same, however I can not find a solution. I attach photos of the error.

You need to flash the XEU firmware, you have the German DBT firmware running right now
same issue, i have a hungarian telenor phone which suppoesed to be (PAN) , i flashed XEH which is hungarian, but it said software version not supported visit a support center , so i flashed the PAN 9.0 version and it still says this
Did you find any solution for this?

are you having an identical issue? i ask that because resolutions are very specific. Flashing firmware from www.sammobile.com/firmwares is very commonly the fix for a great many issues, but id hate to have you go thru the trouble of doing so if its not necessary
I tried flashing using odin but didnt work. btw, im using SM-965U and currently residing in Thailand. I dont know if this is the reason why I cant update at all.
S9 message
I am in the U.S. and am getting the message that software isn't supported also. Is there any resolution to this problem?
In case it helps, I was having this same issue with my unlocked Galaxy Note 10+. I found this thread after searching. I had gotten into this situation by flashing CP/AP/BL from TMO firmware without also flashing TMO's CSC or USERDATA. I avoided CSC/USERDATA (I was using the home CSC) because I wanted to avoid wiping the phone.
When I finally gave up and flashed CSC and USERDATA, everything was back to normal.
