[Q] Stuck in a loop (Fastboot usb screen & access to teamwin recovery) - HTC One X

Hello all,
I'm currently stuck and I was hoping you can help me out. To my shame I went for the "read along method of unlocking" rather than the read then unlock method which now in hindsight would have been a lot smarter.
Anyway,
I followed hasoon2000s guide to unlock the bootloader and followed that through to the letter (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904) after unlocking the phone, making a backup and installing supersu I realised that unlocking doesn't actually let the phone use any sim card. After getting an unlock code so that I can use another sim I was told that the unlock wouldn't be accepted because the phone has been rooted (tried several times, all failed).
So looking back at hasoon's guide and tried to revert the phone back to stock. As I made a backup I decided not to flash a stock RUU (maybe a big mistake?) and just restore following this:
2. Now, we will talk about restoring your nandroid backup.
Connect your phone to the computer. Open up the folder to view the files on your phone.
From your computer, Go to TWRP -> BACKUPS -> (Your hardware Serial Number) -> (Folder you wish to restore to) -> and copy boot.emmc.win to your computer. Rename boot..emmc.win to boot.img
Open my toolkit and press boot into recovery.
Click Wipe. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Factory Reset and System. NOTHING ELSE! If you click anything else, IT WILL WIPE YOUR SD CARD AND YOU WILL HAVE MORE ISSUES ON YOUR HEAD!
Press back and press Restore. Choose the backup to restore to.
After it finishes, press the back button. Press Reboot and select bootloader.
Open my toolkit and press Flash a Kernel. Locate the boot.img and it will flash it.
You are now back to your stock Nandroid.
Followed all of the steps but now I can't get into the operating system as it just loops into the white screen (fastboot usb) I can load teamwin recovery but I'm not sure what to do with that.
I have downloaded (what I think) is a suitable RUU for the phone, but what should I do to return the phone to stock so that I can unlock the sim?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,
Cue

So I've managed to copy the process step by step but now I am confused.
I have the Philz Touch 5 system up and there are too many options to use from.
I went to mounts and storage and formatted /cache /data /system but now I am confused as to how I backup/install the files that I copied on to the sdcard.
What options should I click on (there are loads!)
Thanks.

Ok, phone turn off as I wanted to get back to the hboot screen.... and it is now stuck on the htc quietly brilliant white screen.
:crying:
What can i do now?
edit -phew..... held down power and volume down to get it into the hboot screen. however still confused about installing the restore

I can still get into Philz Touch 5 but am still unsure as to what I am actually restoring and the process of doing so.
(I've attached an image of the files Thant told me to download)
In Philz I go to:
-backup and restore
-restore (It then complains that it cannot open the directory clockworkmod)
So I've tried:
-Custom backup and restore
and then I am hit with more options
-Custom restore Job
-TWRP backup and restore
(plus others not restore related)
So from this point where do I go? I can get it to locate the folder where the backup files are stored, but it wants to me to pick which file to use....
very confused.

looks like the nand is CWM by memory I think you must to put all the folder to directory clockworkmod/backup and after this to try again to restore

Nothing. Still doesn't recognise any files that it can use.
Is there another angle I can look at this from? Maybe installing a rom to get the phone working again and then return the phone to stock so that I can unlock the phone (to use any sim).
Throwing this out there to anyone.
Thanks.

The nand you downloaded, check the file and folder paths. If they are not in there you can't restore it. How is it zipped ? As a .rar.....check if in the rar are the folders
Clockworkmod\backup\time and date folder\ then the files you showed in your screenshot. That's how a cwm nand should look !
Or flash any custom rom you want......could have done that already !

Thank you! I must have had a "moment" and didn't think to put the actual folder (time and date) into the backup folder. It's not restoring the system..... fingers crossed.

You must make a full wipe before you restore it. Also format cache, data and system in the mounts and storage menu !

All running (lovely!!)
So...... moving on to next problem. Unlocking the sim so that I can use my sim card. With what I currently have installed will I have any problems getting an unlock code of the internet or is there something I need to worry about (as the phone is unlocked, in terms of bootloader?)
Thanks again.

Not that i know. But i have no experience with SIM unlock on the hox.....

How did you get the fastboot getvar all, then?
Did you try adb reboot recovery? It should work. Or, adb reboot bootloader, and once there, select recovery.
Do you have stock or custom recovery?
If on stock, download CWM from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ph8jrr6lrmjqfc/fastboot.zip (there are other files, too, don't worry)
Flash CWM from fastboot and bootloader: fastboot flash recovery recovery-cwm.img
Go to your recovery and mount sd card.
Copy the nandroid backup and follow the instructions from the link in my previous post.
Once you're back to stock, you can flash any ROM at your will. These instructions are to get your phone out of bootloop.

Hm!
This is strange.
I recommend you uninstall HTC drivers, and try installing them again. That could be the reason of your trouble.
Do other fastboot commands work properly? Did you do fastboot erase cache? Sometimes that helps too.
There is also a way with "adb push..." but I don't remember it from the top of my head...
If Mr. Hofs woud be so kind to help you...
And, watch your battery, mate, don't let it drain out!

First you must to flash recovery not REVOVERY. Second flash Philz recovery because it is the only one that work without any problem every time, mount SD storage and wait 1-3 minutes to mount the stodage and you can start restore nandroid.
Yeah flash philz indeed, the ems lunfile error is because you are using an old recovery that not support usb mass storage !
I already did it, now i cannot restore nandroid backup, because I cannot use JB version, since my hboot is to old and there is not firmware for my CID (H3G_001) so i cannot update hboot. I cannot find any older nandroid backup version for cwm recovery for my CID. Also when i tried to restore TWRP nandroid and I couldn't because I can't use touch in TWRP recovery. Anyone has any idea on how can I resolve this please?
Or is it something else my hboot ver is 1.72 and I cannot flash 16mb boot.img, but all of the nandroid recoveries I'm finding have one of that size.

Oke, this is a ruu that flashes the phone back to factory stock. So all stuff will be gone so backup what you want/need
Make sure the bootloader is relocked :
Fastboot oem lock
Then keep the phone in the bootloader and execute the ruu.exe with admin rights on the pc !
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
When the ruu is done you check inside the settings menu manually for software updates and apply all updates you can get. The last one is android 4.2.2 sense 5.
right ive tried the above locked boot loader and run ruu it geets as far as signature update then get error 132 signarure error and under says please get the correct rom update and try againand now phone stuck in boot loader cant boot down to allow charge so what next thanks
Oke run this one instead
http://www.persianhtc.net/index.php...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
Ok will do will get back to you after thanks for the help at least i learning as i go lol
ok that one worked its booting up now
Oke then try the 3.14 once more if you dont get official ota's
There was a small update that worked with a larger one next but as battery low will try that one tomoz and let you no how its coming on any way of to bed thanks for helping hopefully get some more done tomoz
Niice, I will keep an eye out
Ok updates all done unlocked boot loader and switched usb debugging back on in Developer options

I installed that file link you gave was thinking of cm11 or viperx have downloaded viperX_4.0.7 and pulled out the boot image so at moment have a folder on desktop with zip viperx_4.0.7 and the boot image beside it
then found these instructions
1 Make sure your that your HBOOT is 1.31 or greater
2 Check if you CID is supported, visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1957376 for updates. Cheers Mike
3 Unlock your bootloader via HTCDev and install a custom recovery.
4 Download the ROM and place it on your virtual SD card.
5 Do a nandroid backup!
6 Extract boot.img from ROM zip and flash it using ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’.
7 Use 'fastboot erase cache' to avoid boot issues.
8 Go into recovery and install the ROM.
9 Please choose fullwipe if you are asked, highly recommended if you go from one rom from another rom.
10 Reboot the device and enjoy!

NEW STEPS :

2: copy the rom.zip to the sdcard
3: tap power options - reboot to bootloader
4: flash the boot.img from the viper x rom.zip :
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
5: unhook the usb cable and enter the recovery
6: make a full wipe :
factory reset
wipe cache partition
advanced - wipe dalvik cache

[Q] One X relocked with no rom on

Its been a while since flashing roms and I was going to sell my one x but needed stock software and unrooting. But I have ended up with my phone stuck in fast boot with it saying re locked at the top. I think i know where I went wrong but its too late. I dont have any backup because it was ages ago and I have tried various stock roms all returning errors. This is what I was following:
"fastboot oem Lock"
2) "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
3) "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip"
4) "fastboot reboot-bootloader"
5) "fastboot flash "unlocktoken Unlocktoken.bin"
6 "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-4.18.401.2-endeavoru-JB.img
7) fastboot flash boot ( the boot.img from the custom rom)
8) go in to recovery and install the custom rom.
I got stuck at 6 giving me an error, I presume it was the wrong file.
Do I actually have to do fastboot oem Lock, because its relocked?
Could anybody help me out with what stock roms and file I need please? I know there are a lot of posts but each one is idividual and with different firmware.
Thanks Guys

Awesome mate, your a legend!
When you say to use phillz or cmr, can I use these because all I can do is access the fastboot screen? Even if I select recovery in fastboot the htc quietly brilliant screen pops up then goes back to fast boot menu.

Go on to HTC Dev and get another unlock token, and proceed to unlock again, then flash CWM or Phillz, then recover your phone with the backup i provided. I have also provided the stock htc recovery in the folder seperately.

No, on Clockword Mod or Phillz recovery you use Backup and Restore option, you don't flash the zip file, i zipped it up so i could upload to dropbox, just flash the 2013-02-05.20.39.08 folder under restore, there should be a folder called Clockword Mod on your SD Card or something like that.
Sorry for being an idiot im just concerned because I was up till 4.30 this morning trying to sort this out. in cwm folder is one called downloads which goes into recoveries folder, does the folder 2013....go in there? Then by flash do you mean going to fast boot- backup/restore - restore? because it says no file found still.

On your storage you should have a file called clockworkmod and inside that you should have another folder in there called backup, so your 2013-02-05.20.39.08 file should be in that backup folder.

Sorry there is no back up folder in there. Ive tried installing phillz over cwm it says complete but after flashing and when i reboot its still cwm. and in rom manager when I try to update cwm it gives me an error.

So then go into CWM or Phillz recovery then go to Backup and Restore and restore that 2013-02-05.20.39.08 file, then you should be back on stock H3G rom, then just flash the recovery i put in the folder separately, then you should be fully stock, then relock your Hboot/bootloader then you should be able to update your rom OTA to 4.2.2 and hboot to 1.72
Ok, so finally got there in the end. Hopefully. I have one more question and i will leave you alone.....ive sent the lock message and the bootloader now says relocked again. Is this different from locked? Can i get it to say locked instead of relocked as this looks like its been rooted before?
Thanks

[Q] Q: Noob Help - Failed system update - unknown volume

Hello,
I'm really sorry for this post, but I know absolutely nothing about how any of this works and I found almost the exact same issue being posted about on the M7 section of the forum.
Ok, I recently picked up an HTX One X from work (unlocked, old and replaced so sold off) for my daughters first phone and it told me the was a system update available for it which I downloaded. I went to run it and it just kept rebooting so I watched it go through the process and then noted it was coming up with the text shown in attachment 003 (starts with ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.8, E: Invalid command Argument...).
I had NO idea the phone had been modded in any way, and I've only found out what Clockwork Mod is in the last hour. From what I can tell I need to restore the phone back to its original factory 'image' as it were, without CWM?
Obviously I have no idea how to do this, or where to get a copy of the original image (could it possibly be saved in CWM somewhere, there are loads of features in there :S) Can I just use the featured in CWM to adjust the mounting options?
If someone could point me in the right direction that would be very much appreciated, and again my apologies for posting what I'm sure is a very simple thing for those in the know.
Regards,
David
Check sdcard if there is anything inside "clockworkmod" folder. Download fastboot_files. Extract it to C:\ so the path will be C:\fastboot. Open Command Prompt on PC and connect phone to PC and type:
Code:
cd C:\fastboot
and then type
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Paste result here.

There is; a folder called 'backup' and 2 files: .last_install_path and .recovery_version
The backup folder has another dated folder from 2014/08/13 and within that a whole bunch of other files (see attached).
So you can go to Recovery and choose Restore. Then choose this backup to restore. But hard to tell what backup it is If stock rom or a custom rom

Exactly, the recovery and boot image files are both the exact same size and date as well. I have no idea if that recovery file is just a copy of the initial CWM install or the original system file
Yes, recovery and boot backup image are both same size. But it isn't definitelly backup of stock recovery (as somebody had to install custom recovery to make this backup ). Send me this getvar result.
You can also paste info from
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
Or, if it's just rooted stock ROM, you can try to copy this OTA update from data/media/0/ to sdcard, and install it with Recovery (install zip)...

First of all, copy clockworkmod/backup folder to your PC. Then, I would say you got few options.:
First one: copy 2 files from this backup folder somewhere else (let's create some "working folder") - system.ext4.tar.a & system.ext4.tar.b. Rename them to system.ext4.001 & system.ext4.002. Then highlight the system.ext4.001 with "Insert" key, and then merge those files - I use Total Commander for this on Win (Total Commander - File - Merge Files). Then rename output file to system.ext.tar.
Then extract build.prop from this tar (system-build.prop). Find "ro.product.version". If it says "4.19.707.4" should be Stock nandroid backup. So then you can Restore this backup via CWM Recovery. When recovered, don't boot up, reboot to bootloader and copy boot.img and recovery.img to the fastboot folder on your PC. Connect phone to PC and type:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
Reboot, done. You are back to stock (with unlocked bootloader, but that's not an issue - you can relock it by
Code:
fastboot oem lock
but that's not necessary)
Second one is to go to this thread, and download 4.19.707.5 ROM (if you wanna really use like it came from manufacturer, you should use odexed one). Install 4.19.707.5 via CWM, then flash boot.img & recovery.img as described above (you can download recovery from link I provided and use boot.img from downloaded ROM).
Done.

Apologies for the rather long delay in response, life got in the way as per usual. Ok, I've followed the steps as per above and everything appeared to go through just fine; it installed the odexed ROM via CWM and then I restarted in bootmode and used fastboot to flash the boot/recovery as required. The only thing different was the fact that I had a message about 'Root Access is missing' with a Yes/No Q and that it can't be undone (I clicked yes). Once restarted the phone did a check for updates (and saw the version I had just put in as an update...) so I let it try to install said update and was then greeted with the exact same message that started this whole thing to start with. Obviously CWM is still installed however I have run another check for updates and it no longer finds any, so I think it now knows it's up-to-date....
