Oke, this is a ruu that flashes the phone back to factory stock. So all stuff will be gone so backup what you want/need
Make sure the bootloader is relocked :
Fastboot oem lock
Then keep the phone in the bootloader and execute the ruu.exe with admin rights on the pc !
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
When the ruu is done you check inside the settings menu manually for software updates and apply all updates you can get. The last one is android 4.2.2 sense 5.

right ive tried the above locked boot loader and run ruu it geets as far as signature update then get error 132 signarure error and under says please get the correct rom update and try againand now phone stuck in boot loader cant boot down to allow charge so what next thanks

Oke run this one instead
http://www.persianhtc.net/index.php...Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe

Ok will do will get back to you after thanks for the help at least i learning as i go lol

ok that one worked its booting up now

Oke then try the 3.14 once more if you dont get official ota's

There was a small update that worked with a larger one next but as battery low will try that one tomoz and let you no how its coming on any way of to bed thanks for helping hopefully get some more done tomoz

Niice, I will keep an eye out

Ok updates all done unlocked boot loader and switched usb debugging back on in Developer options
whats next to do

I installed that file link you gave was thinking of cm11 or viperx have downloaded viperX_4.0.7 and pulled out the boot image so at moment have a folder on desktop with zip viperx_4.0.7 and the boot image beside it
then found these instructions
1 Make sure your that your HBOOT is 1.31 or greater
2 Check if you CID is supported, visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1957376 for updates. Cheers Mike
3 Unlock your bootloader via HTCDev and install a custom recovery.
4 Download the ROM and place it on your virtual SD card.
5 Do a nandroid backup!
6 Extract boot.img from ROM zip and flash it using ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’.
7 Use 'fastboot erase cache' to avoid boot issues.
8 Go into recovery and install the ROM.
9 Please choose fullwipe if you are asked, highly recommended if you go from one rom from another rom.
10 Reboot the device and enjoy!

[Q] Idiot With HTC one X stuck in boot loop.

Hello,
I’ve been following guides to root my phone and put a custom ROM onto it. I had no experience in doing this so I thought I would follow an idiots guide and was stupid enough not to back up the original ROM along with not reading up properly on what I was about to do… (yes you can call me names I shall accept it)
The problem I'm having is after putting the custom ROM which was ViperX3.2.0 The phone just stays stuck on the HTC one Tm with beats audio and keeps resetting it self, anyway i can fix it? or have i bricked it.
I'm a complete noobie cause I've been looking around for the past 3 days and still can't find anything (or something I can understand)
- I've wiped cache, dalvik cache and battery stats
- I go to recovery and click mount sd card nothing happens mount usb storage nothing happens.
- I don't understand next to nothing, need like android for idiots. :good:
- When phones booting up my computer recognises something but has not drivers and fails (But i had drivers and could transfer stuff too and from)
So if you can help i will love you forever
Many Thanks
RIch

Okay, in fastboot mode, type 'fastboot getvar cidnum' to get your CID number.
then according to that number, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
and download your firmware.zip
then use the following commands:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip

Just keep trying 'fastboot flash zip (lalala)' until it works.
Afterwards, you need to re-unlock your bootloader with 'fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin'
then reflash boot.img 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
then 'fastboot erase cache'
then reflash recovery 'fastboot flash recovery (lalalaa.img)'

Whoopsie, did fastboot flash boot boot.img didn't start up so i thought i would check recovery and earse some caches, theres an error for it to load. (a phone laying down with an exclaimation mark) so i can't do a wipe
Reflash the custom recovery
Fastboot flash recovery recover.img
Fastboot erase cache
Anyway to get the recovery back? so i can try another ROM to see if that could possibly fix the problem, just can't get into recovery D: happy my phone turns on lol however no network or can't connect to wifi
by fashing the boot did nothing but crash it more.
so i had to redo what you taught me, thank you again and i'm back to where i said i was

Many thanks, recovery up and running. now that I know this I'll try to reinstall the ROM.
Are there any reasons why I'm not getting signal or WiFi? along with that from the unlock it seem rather slow,
But I guess it's time for me to experiment, now that i know how to fix it if I mess up
Maybe because of this :
When installing the viper you get a question about the custom kernel ....
Answer with NO !

Just signed up to say thanks Mr Hofs for the help you've posted in this thread in particular but also in many other threads I've been referring to over the last 4 hours or so. I was well on my way to brickage following a screwed up attempt to root my HOX, but thanks to you I'm now up and running again. Admittedly I'm back at square one with a non-rooted handset, but I never would've believed that would be such a happy place to be, plus I feel a tiny bit less of a noob now.
Anyway, apologies for crashing your thread Richlilrich - as you were!

Hey Guy's,
I know this thread is old and many of you might not see this anymore but I'm sure this is where I need to be.
I have a UK Quad Core HOX and rooted fine a while ago.
I placed Cyanogen on for a while and all was running fine but it doesn't have all the tweaks I'd like so looked around for another ROM.
I came across the ViperROM and thought - Great! Exactly what I wanted, checked the reviews - All good, checked my HBoot etc... All seems fine. Went ahead and installed it through CWM (5.8.4.0) like I have done a thousand times before and went and rewrote the boot.img and got a continuous HTC boot loop. Thought hey no harm no fuss and went back into recovery to restore my most recent back-up only to find that they had all gone - My stock recovery my previous tries at other ROMS and most importantly my most recent Backup!!!!
I followed the steps above over and over again, I can re-lock my HOX, reboot into RUU and flash the 3.16.61.6 firmware (and boot img inside zip) and it still bootloop's over and over....... (I can unlock again too)
I've tried adb pushing Stock and custom ROMS to the SD card which says success in windows cmd but says no files on SDcard.
What am I doing wrong?
P.S hboot details are;
Endeveavoru PVT Ship S-ON RL

CPLD-None
Microp-None

Would like to add that I would prefer Viper to stock but stock would help for now
Before going for RUU and stuff, try any other roms.
I'd say do this :
Flash TWRP - Better than CWM anyday.
Go to recovery. Mount USB. Copy Viper (or any other) rom to phone.
Reboot to bootloader.
Flash boot.img.
Fastboot erase cache.
Go to recovery.
Clean install ROM.
Reboot and wait for it. First boot takes pretty long sometimes.
There is no better recovery, a recovery is personal. I'm using CWM now for 2 years....never had a problem with that.....
Now the issue.
How to copy it is in the post above, however before you install the rom you need to make a real good full wipe
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts & storage - format cache, data, system
Then install the rom...and ofcourse flash the boot.img from the rom.zip
The option to mount in CWM is under mounts and storage copy the rom.zip over and unmount.
The way i personally follow is :
Flash the boot.img (fastboot, bootloader mode) then enter the recovery and follow the above....make sure you unplug the usb cable BEFORE installing the rom.zip

[Q] Stuck in a loop (Fastboot usb screen & access to teamwin recovery)

Hello all,
I'm currently stuck and I was hoping you can help me out. To my shame I went for the "read along method of unlocking" rather than the read then unlock method which now in hindsight would have been a lot smarter.
Anyway,
I followed hasoon2000s guide to unlock the bootloader and followed that through to the letter (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904) after unlocking the phone, making a backup and installing supersu I realised that unlocking doesn't actually let the phone use any sim card. After getting an unlock code so that I can use another sim I was told that the unlock wouldn't be accepted because the phone has been rooted (tried several times, all failed).
So looking back at hasoon's guide and tried to revert the phone back to stock. As I made a backup I decided not to flash a stock RUU (maybe a big mistake?) and just restore following this:
2. Now, we will talk about restoring your nandroid backup.
Connect your phone to the computer. Open up the folder to view the files on your phone.
From your computer, Go to TWRP -> BACKUPS -> (Your hardware Serial Number) -> (Folder you wish to restore to) -> and copy boot.emmc.win to your computer. Rename boot..emmc.win to boot.img
Open my toolkit and press boot into recovery.
Click Wipe. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Factory Reset and System. NOTHING ELSE! If you click anything else, IT WILL WIPE YOUR SD CARD AND YOU WILL HAVE MORE ISSUES ON YOUR HEAD!
Press back and press Restore. Choose the backup to restore to.
After it finishes, press the back button. Press Reboot and select bootloader.
Open my toolkit and press Flash a Kernel. Locate the boot.img and it will flash it.
You are now back to your stock Nandroid.
Followed all of the steps but now I can't get into the operating system as it just loops into the white screen (fastboot usb) I can load teamwin recovery but I'm not sure what to do with that.
I have downloaded (what I think) is a suitable RUU for the phone, but what should I do to return the phone to stock so that I can unlock the sim?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Cue

So I've managed to copy the process step by step but now I am confused.
I have the Philz Touch 5 system up and there are too many options to use from.
I went to mounts and storage and formatted /cache /data /system but now I am confused as to how I backup/install the files that I copied on to the sdcard.
What options should I click on (there are loads!)
Thanks.

Ok, phone turn off as I wanted to get back to the hboot screen.... and it is now stuck on the htc quietly brilliant white screen.
:crying:
What can i do now?
edit -phew..... held down power and volume down to get it into the hboot screen. however still confused about installing the restore
I can still get into Philz Touch 5 but am still unsure as to what I am actually restoring and the process of doing so.
(I've attached an image of the files Thant told me to download)
In Philz I go to:
-backup and restore
-restore (It then complains that it cannot open the directory clockworkmod)
So I've tried:
-Custom backup and restore
and then I am hit with more options
-Custom restore Job
-TWRP backup and restore
(plus others not restore related)
So from this point where do I go? I can get it to locate the folder where the backup files are stored, but it wants to me to pick which file to use....
very confused.

Nothing. Still doesn't recognise any files that it can use.
Is there another angle I can look at this from? Maybe installing a rom to get the phone working again and then return the phone to stock so that I can unlock the phone (to use any sim).
Throwing this out there to anyone.
Thanks.
The nand you downloaded, check the file and folder paths. If they are not in there you can't restore it. How is it zipped ? As a .rar.....check if in the rar are the folders
Clockworkmod\backup\time and date folder\ then the files you showed in your screenshot. That's how a cwm nand should look !
Or flash any custom rom you want......could have done that already !

Thank you! I must have had a "moment" and didn't think to put the actual folder (time and date) into the backup folder. It's not restoring the system..... fingers crossed.
You must make a full wipe before you restore it. Also format cache, data and system in the mounts and storage menu !

Thanks again.

[Q] Please help ! bootloop after OTA of rooted phone

Hi guys,
Please help !
I've bought a new phone, htc one x, from someone. barely had time to install few apps, and got this OTA update message.
Without thinking twice - i did it. But it seems that the phone was rooted ! and as I understand now - it's a big no-no .
I've tried to figure out from the forum what to do , but - all the answers seems to include fastboot and ADB, which in turn require
the drivers of the phone to be installed. But my phone is dead ! so I can' t do it.
I'm new to roms and all, and I really need your help .
How can I make my phone work again ? I don't care which ROM , custom or stock , just to make it work .
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi , yes, I can access the fast boot, but even trying to restore to factory defaults didn't help.
And I can't istall the fastboot on my pc since it needs to connect to a working phone in debug mode (if I understand correctly)
Google Fastboot files
And place them on your pc..for example
On desktop..
C:\Users\Name\Desktop\
and next step go in that directory via CMD typr this
cd C:\Users\Name\Desktop\Fastboot\
And type this
Fastboot getvar cid
Then you will se your CID
go this thread and follow steps to recover your phone

Thank you very much for your help.
I've did the steps as you say, and finally was able to "see" my phone in fastboot from PC.
but the CID I am getting is 11111111 , and there is no backup that matches it.
Can I overwrite it with some kind of rom ? I don't care to loose all the data, just to get a working phone.
Download clockwordmod recovery img file And flash it via Fastboot..
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
And then download this file:
Link!
And then access in recovery mount storage and copy that .zip file on your phone Clear and wipe everything except battery stats..And then flash that .zip file

Hi Thant, thank you for your help.
So you are saying that big noob's method won't work ?
I've downloaded the RUU, but I did not understand what you've meant by : "lock the bootloader" and when should I post the results of "fastboot getvar all" ? after I run the RUU , or before ?
You should post it before RUU..Well i tryed my method before and .zip flashed successfully..
And you can relock it with this command:
fastboot oem lock
Here's what I've got, no what should I do with it ?
>fastboot getvar all

ENDEAVORU XE have problems with update you must manually update the firmware and after this to install RUU or custom rom.
Download THIS OTA open the zip and extract firmware.zip to your fastboot folder after this do this
Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot you will see HTC logo
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Type: fastboot reboot
Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.
I want to thank you for your patience with a noob like me
I did everything till the last line.
After flashboot reboot, my phone passed the first htc logo that it was stuck on , but now it's stuck on htc one screen (the one with beats audio logo at the bottom) .
Do I need to do the flash custom rom recovery ?

yes now flash custom recovery philz 5.15.x mount usb storage copy custom rom to the phone install and flash the boot.img and you will have working rom sense or no sense. Now after flash the firmware what is your hboot version 1.39? If yes you are ready to go
ok , just to make sure I understand before I do it a screw something up :
"yes now flash custom recovery philz 5.15.x mount usb storage copy custom rom to the phone install and flash the boot.img and you will have working rom sense or no sense. Now after flash the firmware what is your hboot version 1.39? If yes you are ready to go"
my hboot version is indeed 1.39
so I d/l philz custom recovery .
no I should :
fastboot flash zip philz_touch_6.07.9-endeavoru.zip
then go to the custom recovery ? (how ? ? ? )
then d/l some custom rom (any recomendations ? just a good stable one, possibly stock)
then copy it to phone using fastboot
and then , from custom recovery flash it ?
I'm sorry for all these questions, but I'm afraid to touch the damn thing already ))))
Flash the recovery (its a img file NOT a zip, take out the img if its in the zip)
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the recovery by selecting FASTBOOT in the bootloader and then RECOVERY (navigate with the volume buttons and confirm with the power button)
Go to the mounts and storage menu and mount the sdcard as a mass storage disk (wait a few minutes until it pops up on the pc)
Copy the rom.zip to the sdcard. Take out the boot.img and flash it via fastboot
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery again and perform a full wipe
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage-format cache, data and system
Install the rom.zip
Done !
Roms....just check the android dev section. Many roms to choose and read up for yourself. It's not that difficult ...maximus and arhd are very close to stock.
Thank you for the detailed reply !
When doing Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img I got the messege :
FAILED <remote : not allowed>
Is the problem that my phone is locked ? (written locked at the top of fastboot screen) tried to do fastboot oem unlock but getting "Command error !" .
I saw this solution : http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/74316-a-solution-to-fastboot-flash-recovery-not-allowed-error/ , but I'm not sure it will fit my phone (as it talkes about a different one) and what is a PD98IMG.zip file ?

Cant flash Stock Rom over, tried 3 different ones.

I have tried all 3 of the firmware backup roms (including the 1.2 one) from the stock nandroid backups.
Please can someone help ive been trying to do this for about 8 hours now.
EDIT:
Hello,
I tried again to flash to stock. I tried versions 1.12 stock and 1.54 to go back, using 2.7.02 TWRP (2.7.0.1 doesnt boot) and it still says failed.
Anyone know how to work around this or help me get to stock. I want to update my phone to latest version!
looking in this wrong corner mate, you need a backup from the voda cid. your official version is not 2.22.401 !
check the backup thread and compare by CID and not by buildnumber of your custom rom
and BTW read the whole OP there. its literally written there what to do, take the time for it. hboots, software numbers and cids.....its all explained
saw that ? its not rocket science, just simple look & compare. my 6 year old does this also in pre school
think you have info info now to try again.

No need to try and make me look silly loool. The first few lines in my post say I have tried the versions starting 1.54 and 1.2.. I got them from the VOPAP001 section. Those are the ones which are giving me a failed attempt.
Everytime I flash it it just says failed and error mounting E:/cache. I looked up the error I was receiving and based off what I read it seemed I was using the wrong rom so I came over here to ask.
SO the question with the 2.22 was just another attempt as trying something that might work.
Could you suggest something else please?
EDIT: Also does it matter what version of twrp I am using? 2.8.3 doesnt boot, gets stuck in white screen, 2.8.1 doesnt get into white screen, thats the one i have flashed as recovery
sorry not once tried to make you look silly.
cheers.

No worries!
Update:: I have tried to use 1.54 from htc_001 CID as well as the ones from VODAP001 however I still get failed.
Anyone have any clue as to why this is??
THanks!
use an older twrp 2.7 range. the newer ones are compiled differently and therefore doesn't work on your lower hboot.
restore the 1.12 voda nand and flash back the matching stock recovery. then ota up again

The "error mounting E:/cache" always happens after you have flashed a recovery and erased cache (TWRP prints it 3 times on my phone)
The failed usually means your download was corrupt or it was created with a different recovery than what your using, if the recovery was created with Phils you can't restore it with TWRP. Also are you restoring the backup from the ext_sd or the internel sdcard or a usb-otg. Are you MD5 checking your downloads ?
If your having problems with the recovery partition also you phone may have damaged partitions ..have a look at mike1986 fix

I am using twrp for the recovery, does it matter which version of twrp i use or does it have to be the same version the one where the backup was made?
Thanks for the second link as well, whenever I try to restore my data from previous backup it fails at 85%, ill see if that fixes it.
Thanks for your help, will post with an update once tried.

8. In reboot menu select bootloader
9. fastboot flash stock recovery that you downloaded - command fastboot flash recovery 1.54.161.10_recovery.img

1. Install TWRP 2.8.5.0 - http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m8
command fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-m8.img
2. Download TWRP backup 4.19.161.2 - https://mega.co.nz/#!bJtllTqK!Kr31BpwhP9eikoVK-kiq8HbLk6AOCxPzz3APMyg1jxs
3. Download stock 4.19.161.2 recovery - https://mega.co.nz/#!LR8AyCKB!V_mIAB7J1ptH_vhcpFxAtNVM71DVB0HjGdBLpT_BGVU
4. Extract the downloaded TWRP_4.19.161.2.rar on PC
5. Boot to TWRP recovery and make a backup of boot only, this is to see where the backup goes on your device.
6. Reboot, connect device to PC then open Internal Storage, TWRP/BACKUPS/SerialNo./
7. Transfer the extracted TWRP_4.19.161.2 folder (the last folder) and its content to the backup path on your device
TWRP/BACKUPS/SerialNo./BackupFolderHere
8. Reboot to TWRP, wipe your device - in TWRP go to wipe - advance - select dalvik cache, cache, data, system (only these)
9. Restore the transferred backup - make sure all boot, data & system are ticked - swipe to restore
10. In reboot menu select bootloader
11. fastboot flash stock recovery that you downloaded - command fastboot flash recovery 4.19.161.2_recovery.img
12. done

do i have to relock bootloader?
That's optional, your choice. If it is mandatory I will put that in the steps.
If you do, that will be the last part

sorry but this isnt working
Looks like you didn't correctly copy the backup into the right folder. Luckily you can mount the phone when in TWRP so you can correct the location
