Arm band - - review-- update third post - Xperia Z1 Accessories

Need one for jogging/running.
As no one makes a specific band for our phones, I found this on eBay and I'm thinking about buying it.

Please report back if you buy it. I'll get myself one as well if it's good.

Just purchased. I'll receive it by this time next week give or take a few days.... I'll report back on it then.

igadgitz Sony Xperia Z1 arm band initial review:
Ok, just got it today in the mail. First impression: the retail packaging is cheap, but the stitching is VERY thorough. I was leery about whether the velcro would be sewn or glued to the material, and I'm relieved to find it stitched in. The fit is very snug, to the point that you must release the velcro all the way to the ends on each side, otherwise the clear vinyl screen will adhere to the phone and its going nowhere. It seems on par with my previous arm band from tunebelt, if not better constructed. I will update later with pics.
I have a Glass-m front protector on currently (I'll be switching to an invisible shield because the Glass-m cracked within a week of having it and the crack is almost halfway up the screen) and it fits inside just fine.
Aside from that, you shouldn't try to force a case and phone inside as it is fitted to the phone nearly perfectly.
Fit - I have an arm/bicep diameter of about 14" (35.56cm) when relaxed.
from the tip of the velcro fabric to the pass-through is roughly 15.5" (39.37cm). So there is plenty of room for the opposing velcro hooks to contact with.
Overall, initially I will give it a rating of : 9/10.
It's losing a point for aesthetics as in the painted on button locators for power and volume are not lined up (they're a little high) and I'm not a fan of the opening for the aux port (I use bluetooth) not being an optional punch out (like I said it's aesthetics)
I will also update after I get some daily use out of it.

Update: no issues so far, using it almost daily, no issues at all from stitching, wear, or otherwise.
I have an invisible shield on the screen so the clear vinyl sticks slightly to it.
If you want to buy one, see my original post above, I highly recommend this arm band for the Xperia z1.

Slightly off topic, but what bluetooth headset do you use? Interested since you're running with one so it has to be decent.
Pretty good price for the band. If I didn't carry a bag while mountain biking I'd jump on this.

Well it's not perfect (no voice to tell you battery life left or who is calling), but I'm using a Jay Bird freedom sprint.
Sent from my C6902 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2

I wonder if this would fit the Z1s. Anyone tried?

I haven't seen any issues concerning the screen and the band. Once the phone is inside the clear plastic it is right up against it and the phone does not move (no room to move).

It will fit. The phone is the same size, but the Aux port cut out will NOT line up.

Long term update :
Off and on use over the past few months. The band is still in great shape. No tears or wear off any kind.
I'm still very happy with it. It's been well worth the price.

How's the battery life for thoses?
I am using the Plantronics BackBeats2Go and love em, but the battery will hold for about not much more than 2-3 hours, does the battery life holds on thoses?

I get about 3-4 hours out of them. The newer Jay bird x bluebuds have around 6-8 hours, and voice prompts for battery life....

GameKlip™, turn your E4GT into a real gaming machine!

Hello everyone! I've been working on a phone accessory that you guys might be interested in. I've always loved playing games on my smartphones, but on screen controls were always frustrating. When I discovered the Sixaxis App, I had to figure out a good way to attach my phone to the controller. I came up with the GameKlip™, it has breathed new life into my E4GT!
I am a university student, and long time xda member. I've been tinkering with this project in my spare time and they're finally ready to be sold. Let me know what you think!

Interested, but same question about fitting in a case
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
AWESOME!
One question/
Looks like the triangle button is blocked, is this the case?
Lots of case talk going on.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
This is pretty awesome. I don't have a PS controller though - any ideas on where to get one for a good price? Also, when will you start producing / shipping these?
Looks really cool, but like every one else is asking, I need to know if it will work with a case (TPU to be exact).
Also, you should Kickstarter this!
I have designed them to fit an uncased phone, but it may very tightly with a super thin case. The one I molded to the naked E4GT "fits" with the incipio feather case in it as well. If you're really attached to a case, measure the dimensions and choose the "custom" option at checkout. I would recommend playing uncased though. It's very secure. I've had no issues playing with mine!
The triangle button is fully functional, but on the larger phones like the S3 I moved everything up a little to make some more room. I also made the tabs a little longer to accommodate for the curve at the bottom of the S3.
The best place to buy a ps3 controller is probably in store somewhere. I bought via an amazon seller, for only a few bucks off, and got burned. Check out my counterfeit comparison http://imgur.com/a/ZNZkj . Scary stuff!
Edit: oops, I forgot to say I put two-three weeks till ship on my site to be safe, but I'm hoping I can get them out sooner! I'm waiting on my plastic fabricator at the moment.

I tried Kickstarter, but they rejected the idea unfortunately hopefully I can get the word out there on my own!
This actually sounds like a great idea. Considering buying one.

Maybe in the future you can make a case for the phone with two holes or sockets the click into the mount. And that can solve the case problem and perhaps increase sales.
Sent from my AOKP'd E4GT thanks to times_infinity
Dude, post this on reddit.

They would love this sort of thing. Guys have been hand making their own mounts out of random crap for the past few weeks.
Taking the case off is a huge annoyance for us that have 2-3 piece cases such as the trident aegis. How much more are the customs and how much longer would they take to be made?
And an alternative I've seen to kickstarter is quirky.com not exactly sure how they work though.

I'm not charging anything more for the customs right now, and it won't take any longer than the others. I'm not sure if I'll be able to offer a custom dimension option in the future though, I was hoping to establish a better list of devices by offering customs during the pre-order stage. just make sure you measure as accurately as you can. If the dimensions are too big for my mold, I'll happily refund you
hmm i like the idea of this. I dont have a ps3 controller right now but would love to be able to play emulators on my android with a controller and could use the ps3 controller to control my media center computer as well.. might have to buy one of these in the future.

can only preorder. not available until 9.1.12.... so it'll be a while.
It seems expensive, but you are getting a lot with the case. You get the mounting kit, magnet kit, and screen protector along with the case.
Now to figure out what color to go with. I like the white the best but think it would get dirty with all those grooves. I also like the gun metal too.

I had this case for my iphone 4S. Magnet was awesome as we're all the accessories. As such, when they emailed me about the s3 case I pre ordered it immediately.
For the iphone it is definitely a hard plastic feeling case and it had sort of sharp edges (some people don't like that). Of course I did have the first model of the case;it's unknown to me if they modified the design or not.
I love sticking it to the top of my motorcycle tank or a fixing it to metal objects nearby. Highly recommend this case.
curious about the magnet too. thought about sliding one under my ballistic sg maxx case but wasn't really sure on how it might affect the phone. nice case though. think i'll wait for a review and actual pics of the colors before i get it.
This is still supposed to ship Friday but I'm not holding my breath. They still don't have unrendered pictures of it.

Who is going to be the first to try NeverWet on their phone?

There is a new product on the market, sold at Home Depot, called NeverWet that promises to make everything waterproof. Check out the video and towards the end they waterproof an iPhone. This looks like some pretty amazing stuff!
http://youtu.be/DZrjXSsfxMQ
Looks awesome. Just don't know if I'm willing to try it on my $800 Note II. Luckily I have a old E4GT that I don't care about. And its in stock and & only $20 at my local Home Depot. Will post back with my results.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
Just got this amazing stuff today! Tried it with shirt first, its drying right now. I'm going to try my shirt first then my shoes and then a couple of old cellphones before my G2x and finally if i see enough i will attempt the Galaxy S4. This is soo much cheaper than liquipel.
Looks like some crazy stuff. I saw their video on the Chive a week or two ago.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
I just tried this on my LG G2x and i can confirm it work. I dod not submerge my phone in water, i just splashed the circuit board with some water. You have to completly coat the parts you dont want water to get to. Best way is to create a seal so that water wont get to parts where you dont want water to get to and cat neverwet it.
I can confirm that NeverWet does NOT conduct electricity. I sprayed the battery contacts and i had to scratch the NeverWet off with a knife. My phone would not turn on with the NeverWet coating on the battery contacts.
The thing I want the most from next generation of phones is for them to just be tougher. I want them water proof (liquipel pretreated) , shatterproof (flexible displays) , and power strong (next gen lithium ion batteries).
This definitely looks awesome. I think I am going to test it on my back cover of my note 2. To make sure it doesn't affect the paint or anything. I can always get another back. Can't wait to try it. May post a review on here or probably a video. I will also try it on my seidio surface case. Too bad can't do it in the screen or front of phone. Probably no point in doing it to the back in that case. I guess we'll see
Sent from the Great Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
I wouldn't... The stuff does not dry transparent from what I've read. If it isn't transparent enough for car windshields, color me a skeptic at it looking good on a smartphone
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
want to try this so bad, just not a fan of dissecting my phone into pieces, wish we could just do the exterior and protect it from getting into the inside of the phone, going to buy this stuff tonight and use on my shoes and stuff, and maybe one daring day ill do it on an older phone i dont care too much about anymore.
plan on using it to protect my shoes during the warrior dash.

Just got this and some Duster spray. For 28.35 from the local home Depot.
Hope it works. I've been doubtful but now I got the supplies so I must complete this project.
I want water proof ness so I can play under water.
I took apart my gn2 once before to reassemble the power button
so I'm not too scared but I am a little nervous.
Pray for me guys.
Be careful, never wet is known not to be very permanent. It scratches off easily.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Tried this stuff on my shoes and a shirt and a plunger before id mess with on my device happy I did so.. didnt work on shirt like on the ads. Shoes only worked on one of them...plunger worked good. Not to everyone and else not sure if its said in any ads but I dont believe it protects against running water but it seems to work best in water thats standing still like puddles and what not.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
I bought some from home depot last week put it on my work boots. I paint traffic controll markings and the neverwet doesnt even repel our water base paint we use, sticks right to it. Also it rubbed off in about a day or two. I tried putting it on my seidio active case and it dried frosted looking and almost white in some spots and it wore off in about 5 minutes, from taking it in and out of my pocket. I would definitely not try it on my phone it might work a little while but I wouldnt trust it. I would only buy it to mess around with it has almost no real practical use cause it rubs off so easy.
I have an old EVO 4G I could try it on. Will report back.
For all those times I talk underwater or in rain storms...oh wait

ToastMade Wood Backs

I know a lot of people want a wood back, but can't find "official" ones for sale. Here is the next best thing, they are real wood backs that can be replaced whenever or if you want a new look change them out. They use 3M bonding on the back, boy is it strong as ever. They have a few different woods Walnut, Bamboo, White Washed Ash & Ebony.
I got the Bamboo for mine, man it's super nice, it went on smoothly...for the most part, since the wood was a little hard I had to apply a little heat to soften it to bend and bond. Also, if you decide to get it make sure you don't apply it crooked, because the bond is SUPER strong and it's A PITA to remove, you need to apply a lot of heat to soften the adhesive from the device, then peel it off.
I'm super impressed by the quality of the back cover, it's not too thick; but also not too thin. They start at $25 with FREE US shipping, which is nice. International shipping in only $5. If you want to take it a step further & make it more personal, you can get it laser etched with your design and that starts at $5, goes up depending on design.
Here's a few pictures for you guys:
Super Simple Packaging (don't mind the packaging showing an iPhone, they didn't have proper packaging made yet)

I'm curious about these as well; I kind of wanted one of the official ones, but $35 is just a bit too pricey for a plain case (to me). Avidly awaiting a review.
I have ordered a yellow and a grey one. Last week before this thread. I thought it was worth a try for the price anyways. Based in the UK so will provide photos when received.

I ordered from here http://dx-box.com/nexus-5-bumper-case.html
Today arrived (8 days shipping)
I ordered 1 Black, 2 grey, 1 blue.
The quality is same like play store version, I mean precise cutout, perfect fit. The blue one also rocks!

How is the lettering on these? Is it just stamped onto the case or is it embossed like the official? Wish I would have held out on the official. The price is nice and that blue is sick.

These can be found on Ebay from reputable sellers for $15 with free shipping. Being able to use paypal is a huge advantage with something like this.

I think is everything same, like the official bumper.
I don't know exactly, how the lettering made, but if I touch, definitely can feel, so not just stamping, feels like fused together.

The black one, yes maybe, because this got one more layer on the black TPU, but the another one I think can't peel, because do not have another layer on the TPU. But the play store version of black also peels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48060634&postcount=1

Hmm should i buy the black version? I mean do all black versions peel off?

I'm not positive but I thought I read somewhere that Google made revisions to the official bumper because of the peeling.

bought one of those. Will report back later.
I know you can get them from china on ebay for a few dollars cheaper, but I got lazy and didn't want to wait
very interested in these. i just want a basic black bumper with the nexus logo but havent gotten one because of the peeling and high price. did the fix the peeling and quality control issues or do they still happen? if these are quality i will definitely grab one. would these work with a nillkin tempered glass screen protector?

Did you get yours yet? I live in the UK too, how long did shipping take?

I just received my yellow one today. I ordered the grey one 2 days after so that one hasn't arrived. It took about 7 business days for me since I ordered it last Friday. I almost got my nilkin glass screen protector. Must say it feels awesome.
Built quality seems alright. But I can't compare with the official since I haven't owned one before but for the price I paid seems good to me.

I have the official black bumper bought from the play store and I can tell you that the lettering is not embossed it is flush with the case, I would say that it is printed on.
I have not had any quality issues with my official black bumper, I have not yet experienced any peeling or separating whatsoever and I do like it.
I have ordered a red clone bumper from Ebay. Really fancy a red one but just can't stomach paying £31 delivered for the official one, that is such a rip off!!! £6 for delivery -robbing bastards!!
When I get it I can compare with my official black one for things like weight, dimensions, fit, button feel etc. Only thing I won't be able to compare is the colour.
Will report back when I have it.
