OmniSwitch APK - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

Just pulled this out of the latest OmniRom.
Quite a nice new approach to an app switcher in sort of a PIE way of doing things.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m80nJjZFK0o
Needs to be installed from: system/priv-app (take note it is the priv-app folder!) with permissions corrected to: rw-r--r--
Installed and running on Cyanogenmod nightly but should work on any 4.4.X rom.
**Updated APK to latest from 30-04-2014 Nightly**

Awesome! Works great on my nexus 7 trying it on my nexus 5 now. Wonder why they use low quality icons?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

nexus 5, error, kill all aps, and more....

Thanks for this. One question though, is it just me or are the icons a little fuzzy?

Pretty sure there was a question about this on the Omni forum, hopefully they will improve it as it progresses.

Mine crashes trying to close all apps button. Installed in the required folder as mentioned in the install notes but no dice
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

I downloaded n installed but it seems to be pulled from an older version. It did not give you the option to disable the drag handle option. I remembered I have the 2/20 nightly version backed up (titanium backup). I restored the app only. It now gives me the option to disable the drag handle. Only issue I have so far, is that when you long press the home button, it still brings up the normal app switcher, not omniswitch. Any ideas?

Can I do this on my phone? Set the permissions? Every time I've tried to its never worked properly???

It installs but crashes every time I try closing apps

Installed on n7100 running jellykat v4, everything works fine except the inability to kill apps of the switch. Still enjoying it.

If you put the apk in the system/priv-app and put the correct permissions , everything works great...kill apps works without issues

I tried to push it into system /priv-app but Es file explorer tells me 'permission denied'. I cannot change permission of the apk before pushing, file explorer don't give me this option. What I'm doing wrong?
For the moment I installed the app but gives me fc when I try the kill app button.
I changed it with Titanium Backup into system app but still the same problem, I cannot move it from system /app to system /priv-app

Hi, I did just as you said, used root explorer, changed permissions, but it force closes when killing apps.

well
i dont know what to tell you guys
to me it works without issues
using root explorer, mount R/W
copy the apk to /priv-app folder
change the permissions to rw-r-r
reboot the device

Yes, now it works, at least pushing it into the right folder and set the permissions. But kill app still gives me fc of the app..
I'm on carbon rom now, so I have everything in the nav bar and don't need omni switch anymore.

Same here. Get fc on killing apps. Eventhough I did it exactly as described in the beginning. Also using carbon rom.

I have updated the APK to the latest version from the 30-04-2014 nightly OmniRom.
Try this one and see if there is still a FC.
If there is I would have to assume that Carbon Rom has had some customisation done that interferes with OmniSwitch and I will add a note to OP.

Tried the new version. For some reason setting the right permissions doesn't work. I set them with root explorer, then reboot. When the app is installed, I turn it on, and it gives me a message that the app can't get the right permissions. Can't understand what I am doing wrong, but it seems me that i do everything right as before.

[Q] How to install Stk.apk (sim tool kit) properly?

Hi all.
On the stock ROM of Galaxy Nexus (4.0.1) there was sim tool kit app (stk.apk) included. Now i am using custom rom Maguro Milestone build 2 (4.0.3), and the sim tool kit app is not there anymore.
Trying to adb push to /system/app successfully, but it is not listed on the drawer.
Any idea how to fix this?
Appreciate your help. thanks.

Firstly you need to ensure that you can install any apk file. To check this go to Settings > Security and tick the Unknown Sources box.
Then copy the APK to the phones internal storage, download a file explorer from the Market (ES File Explorer) locate the file, run and then Install.

Was gonna say the exact same
thanks for the tips.
But i did exactly that.
I have a custom rom (which means i am rooted and unlocked) and i put the file in the /system/app directory already using adb push or manually by using the root explorer from the handset.
I can see the file, when i double click it it says "View or Install?" i installed it, then:
Application not installed.
Maybe there are some steps that i missed? This same stk.file i got from the stock 4.0.1 rom, so it should be compatible with my network and my handset.
Anyone else facing same problem?
I'm facing exactly the same problem ... help is really appreciated.

From my experience normally STK does not show up in app drawer but it is in fact working. This is from other phones on both AT&T in USA and Softbank in Japan.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
stk is like spare parts, it only shows up in app drawer if i build a userdebug/eng release. if using a user build, it won't show up, at least i haven't figured out how to do it from source.
Same Problem on NEOV Pureness Custom ROM
SOLUTION:
download SIM Toolkit 4.0.4-2.6.22.zip at 4shared.com
install at recovery mode
STK shows up every time I flash - I have to delete it using Root Explorer. Doesn't serve any purpose in the UK.
However, I've been unable to get any app to show up in the launcher on JB after copying it to the apps folder. I know permissions etc are correct, so perhaps this is a JB change?
Try removing your sim, boot up, shut down, put your sim back and try again?
The SIM toolkit is a system app so you can't "install" it.
Pushing it to /system/app/ is the correct procedure.
However, STK.apk needs the same credentials as Phone.apk or it won't work, this manifests as not showing in the app drawer.
You need a copy of STK for your specific ROM or one from a compatible ROM.
i.e. STK from any Google 4.0.x build will work on any other Google 4.0.x build - however it will not work on an AOSP build (and vice versa).
Anyone who can send me an stk.apk for an aosp build?

Known behavior :
*S-Voice is a Samsung App compatible with Samsung Apps only, so if it doesn't launch your apps on your Non Samsung Roms (Alarm, calendar, phone, messagings...), that's because it always try to launch the Sammy one.
* Double home button tap may not work for S-Voice, it's working for Vlingo because it's launched on a different path.

so then when i paste into system/app it already shows as being installed > even tried to install again through root explorer > asks to replace and install > tried that and it fails
permissions when i copy/paste are already set to...(see screenshot) do the permissions need to change more than that?
should I install via normal application, then navigate to system/app and change permissions to something else?

Flashed the zip but s-voice wasn't there in the app drawer. So I manually extracted the zip and pushed it to the respective folders in \system. Reboot into recovery, wiped caches and fixed permissions and rebooted. It works great. Btw I'm on Simplistic stock deodexed ROM. One small issue though. If I double click the home button, the old vlingo app itself pops up even though I've disabled it and enabled the shortcut in the S-voice app. Do I have to remove the previous version for it to work properly or is there any other way to get it working? It works just fine when I launch it manually from the app drawer.

We only need to copy the extracted "voicetalk.apk" to /system/app/ and set the permissions as of other apps. Restart the phone. Now after restarting " freeze the default voice command apk in titanium backup. (Uninstalling the voice command may not delete required files... u can try also.). Now double press the home button, it will ask u about S voice" It works perfect... All other files in zip folder are I think not required....

[Flashable Zip] [N7 Wifi only] [KRT16S] Translucent lockscreen bars for 4.4

Hi!
I noticed that the N7 2012 doesn't have the new translucent status & bottom bar on the lock screen.
Nobody seems to have created a zip for the N7, though the N4 has had some love.
I have it working for me, so I thought I'd share.
Please don't use this zip on the N7 3G.

Thank you to Floydfire for creating this for the N4, and heavily inspiring even my thread title: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527525
Thanks very much to Quinny899 for an extremely useful guide that got me most of the way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2510410
Thanks to Flextrick for making Android Multitool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326604
And last but not least, the devs of apktool.
Cheers, and hope you are enjoying KitKat!

The "framework" folder should be inside a "system" folder, while it's not. I'll try editing the zip and see if it works, but flashing it like this might be dangerous..
EDIT:I just looked at the updater-script, now I understand.. BTW, does it need a deodexed ROM?

Works great on stock rooted rom installed via flashable zip from the general section!

works great, thanks for sharing
Thanks a lot, I tried to follow Quinny's guide as well but always got caught in bootloops (I have plenty of errors when compiling again, probably has sth to do with apktool).
Got a little frustrated when I saw your zip worked though
Thanks again
Thanks for sharing your work.
FYI if you install Googlehome.apk you'll get transparent status and navbar, as well as the new folder and wallpapers.

I'd just recently used the N7 4.4 factory image and tested with that, so just stock is fine.

I had a frustrating half hour sorting this, during which I could see that the transparency had worked, but it started to bootloop within a minute of hitting the lock screen.
If you want to have another go, try Android Multitool (linked in OP), but don't sign it in that, or with zipsigner. Copy the meta-inf and manifest back from the original apk, instead of signing.
Doing it manually, you may need to place the apk in /system/, then set permissions (0644), then move to /system/framework/

Yup, that or the current Nova Launcher Beta (my personal preference).
Glad it is working for everyone and you are all welcome!
I wanted transparent navi and notification bars so bad but the stock and GEL wont do it (people say it does but it wont) so i installed nova launcher beta and it worked without any mod now i just flashed this mod. nova still working stock still black bars and dont have GEL to check it but i think it will work
Thank you.
Factory image rooted works fine.

it works! thanks!
before the next OTA update, do we have to flash the original framework-res back?

Yeap, afraid so - maybe keep the original on your device for easy flashing?
I'll be looking forward to Xposed being updating for 4.4 to avoid this in the future
Can you do for 3g version please?

Thanks for the tip, I just tried your way with new KRT16S build, and it worked (even though MultiTool gave me some aapt warnings). :good:

Huawei P9 (N beta) Apps

Since Android N for P9 device's was leaked i thought why not see how much works and how much doesn't.
This app list is rather short for now. it might become bigger it might not..
What works
Music Player
Huawei File Manager (seems to work if you have had original file manager from p8 first)
What doesn't
Apps not posted such as gallery, camera, launcher and more
Download:
Music Player: http://www70.zippyshare.com/v/wUEqGJFU/file.html
Huawei File Manager: http://www70.zippyshare.com/v/wUEqGJFU/file.html
Installation:
Extract folder to sd card
Find the new extracted folder in either system/app/ or system/priv-app
In case such folder doesn't exist it's due to different name for same app.
Here's a fast and quick video on how to set permissions with root explorer
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1ikr5LyLdJU
Replace new file with old one and set correct permissions.
Bugs
File manager will fc if u don't have any previous version of file manager installed clean install will kill it
None haven't tested deep enough ...

yes you're right seems like the "link wasn't updated"
http://www61.zippyshare.com/v/71ODCQVb/file.html
is the link
however File manager seems only to work IF you don't wipe dalvik which is strange
decompiled the system from p9 and wanting to test them on p9 lite and stumbled on this thread...did you try anything else?

Yes tried gallery but it is nagging about permission failed on deodex not sure what causes it. I had same message when trying to use xperia keyboard but that was due to lack of libraries which was strange.
Gallery doesn't work nor camera or anything else though they should work since they are all working on lower versions so I doubt that's the issue.

Just to point out the xperia keyboard got same log as gallery did about couldn't extract oat or something similar. But it was fixed due to lack of lib files in arm64 folders
Same goes with file manager which seems to be working with "luck" or its a temp bug because I've got it running after reboot again it force closed so it's strange

Yes and log is acting strange. Since it isn't that issue. Which it points out.

Nope I can't do it.
Since apktool can't load huawei framework correctly. It's a known issue.
I did this on LG G3 though though much app wasn't needed most parts was running fine.
Pretty much only app that needed a xml fix to work was messaging app since G3 didn't have two resolution lines or dimensions to be exact.
But this is nearly impossible for now to work with due to two reasons
Full N support isn't implemented
Huawei framework is not working due to flags and more resources being corrupt with apktool so it'll throw you errors many times and in the end fail to decompile ? so modifying huawei and even miui apps is hard due to lack of support by thus who work on apktool since it's for now one guy. Sad though but one man can't do everything alone but he does indeed do much

Yeah When you add more apps to download. Maybe phone manager, dialer (maybe work) etc.
Hoping that android N will also hit P8 lite.

Phone manager for now doesn't work. I'll try see later if I manage to make it work. It doesn't even gets displayed as installed which is bad.
