Titan Aegis - Nexus 5 Accessories

Ok, so I just received my Titan Aegis case. Sorry, no pics as I don't own a camera other than my N5, and it can't take pictures of itself . Initial thoughts are:
Fitment- Not great. Definitely not as clean as the Otterbox Commuter or Defender on my Galaxy Nexus. I also have a gap at the top as the rubber won't completely slip into the plastic.
Feel- SLIPPERY. If there wasn't some rubber to grip on to on the sides, this thing would go flying out of my hand constantly.
Looks- Decent. It's not a bad looking case, not as bulky as an Otterbox. Doesn't add too much to the thickness of the phone, nor to the height.
Will it last?- I think this case could withstand a pretty decent fall. The rubber is fairly thick, and the plastic would probably take the brunt of the impact.
Million dollar question: Is it worth the money?- If the case fit properly, yes. I'm going to have to contact Trident to see if they can do anything about the gap at the top. If not, then no, it is not worth shelling out that money for something that won't fit the way it is supposed to. But since Otterbox has no plans for a case for our lovely phone, I don't see us having very many choices if you need a fairly rugged case. I'll keep this up to date after I get in contact with Trident and maybe try to get some pictures posted up.

I'd check to make sure all the rubber parts are popped into place. I had a gap at the top as well until I made sure all the rubber was all snug everywhere else(camera/flash, sides, etc.), then all the gaps went away and it fits perfectly. Much better than any Otterbox I've ever owned.

I tried fitting and refitting multiple times and can't get it to close up. I contacted Titan for an RMA so I'll just have to wait and see what happens with the new one.

I used to have the same problem with the case, but as the guy mentioned there is a specific way to add the hard shell. What I did was, instead of beginning with the power button side, I started with the volume buttons side. My gaps are closed, so it's not a flaw, just most of us were doing it wrong.

Huh, that actually worked. No more gap. Guess I don't have to exchange it after all. Thanks!

New Case Review - Perforated Plastic

I was tired of waiting for SGP to get their $^#& together and decided to get yet another case.
I got this Perforated Retro Sports Case from Fommy.com.
http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?divid=Samsung&model=Samsung+Vibrant+T959&skuno=89299
I'm not sure what makes it "retro", but it is a nice looking case. It's a combination of hard plastic (the perforated area) and flexible plastic sides. It's thin - not like the Samsung mesh or Case Mate Barely There - thin, but probably a touch thinner than the average TPU case.
The case covers all sides, although you can still see a bit of the bezel. However, unlike a different case I tried, the amount that peeks out is consistent all around so it still looks nice.
Now, it's not without it's quirks - which may be deal breakers for some. First there are no cutouts for the speaker or the mic. The speaker is no big deal because the case is perforated - I didn't really notice much difference in volume of some music I tried. The mic, on the other hand, required a hammer and nail to deal with. It was pretty simple, though. I just lined up the hole from another case and then hammered a small nail through. It works just fine and I tested some calls with no reports of sound loss on the receiver's end.
The other "quirk" is that the cutouts on the top and sides are a little strange. The one on the volume side is really long and spans over the rocker keys and the strap-loop-hole. It's tapered well along the edges so it doesn't look bad or anything, just a little odd. The top opening also spans across both the jack and the usb port. This makes the bar along the top feel a little less solid than the rest of the flexible areas. I would have preferred they used two separate openings on top rather than one for the extra support. It's also cut rather close to the port, so if you are using a thick plug, you have to move the plastic up a bit. A little annoying, but at least you don't have to take the case off to plug it in like with some cases.
Things may change after a week of use, but my initial impression is positive. Overall, the case is very nice and is unique compared to the other stuff that's currently available. I do, however, think it's a bit pricey at $14.95+shipping (around $5 for super saver). But hey, money grows on trees.
Just ordered mine, From the looks of it, I think i will like this case better than the perforated plastic snap on case. This one looks like it offers full phone protection. tell me if the case would protect the phone in the event of a fall or drop. Rate its protection from a fall as either minimal, moderate, or maximum protection. I would appreciate your advice. Thanks
Since it covers all sides the protection is going to be better than the snap on. But its thin and pretty stiff so impact resistance is probably minimal to moderate at best, especially compared to silicone or TPU.

thanks for the review, but i would be worried about knowing from the get go that i would need to use a hammer and nails to get a plastic case to work.

Very true. I didn't try calls before making the hole so I'm not entirely sure it's necessary (although I imagine you would get a drop in sound quality with the hole covered).
I love this case. It is slim and perfectly follows the contours of the phone. The only thing that i didnt like was the hole missing over the microphone. But the texture and quality of the case is top notch. I have the mesh galaxy s back cover, the tpu grey argyle case, the body glove rubber case, the case mate tough case, and the carbon fiber samsung case. This one is the best of them all, I am very happy with this case
whoa, that looks like it'd be pretty ****in sweet if they made them 2 tone..

they also have pink and white if your into that just search Xmatrix Vibrant case. They are cheaper than OP's so i dont know if they are the same or not but they do look the same.
I ordered this case on Tuesday and it came today. I am very impressed and the quality is much better then I expected.
Did the one you got off Ebay come with the hole for the mic already cut? Looks in their photos like it's there already.
No i ordered it from fommy and I forgot about the missing mic hole lol.

I ordered the blue and black one from fommy on thursday and received it today. Mine has the mic hole already cut out. In my opinion it feels just a little bit loose and kinda cheep. I like the way it looks and is very slim so I'm gonna give it some time to see if it grows on me or if i want something else
The black case I received fits extremely well and is not loose at all.
Great Deal on this Case
I'm getting one from Handhelditems.com found here xmatrix case and it's 10.99 and $2.89 shipping, plus I used coupon code 30vibrantsamsung and got 3.30 (30%) off. Price out the door - $10.54. Helluvuh deal
Got the case today. It sucks.

[Review] Seidio Innocase for Vibrant

So the first thing I noticed was that this is not a slider, but a front-and-back snap case. The product description says "Unique snap together design and opening slot makes putting on and removing your case easy" but for some reason thought it was a slider like the Surface II for the Captivate. So, it's not their fault I misunderstood.
Since the front bezel cover is so thin, my initial impression is that it seems a little flimsy. The back cover is also quite thin and has no lining like other Seidio cases. I think this was a conscious decision in order to keep the case as slim as possible. The fit is quite precise, so I don't think the lining would really make much difference as there is no movement within the case.
Although the front bezel piece seems flimsy at first, it feels quite sturdy once you snap it to the back cover. I do have some concerns the clips that snap together will wear down over time if you remove the cover frequently. Only time will tell on that point.
It has Seidio's "signature soft touch finish" which is like a somewhat rubberized matte texture. It's quite nice, but attracts prints if you have oily fingers.
Overall, the fit is pretty much perfect and the cutouts are precise. It's very thin and has a nice texture. Of the six cases I have, it's certainly the nicest. It does, however, cost about as much as the other five cases combined - $29.95.
At $19.95, I'd probably recommend it in a second. At $30 I have some reservations, namely the long term durability of the clasps that keep the two pieces together.
Vibrant case wont work
should be gettin mine tomorrow....
i think they have 6 month warranty which actually does work. thats another big plus with this company.

Good to know. Hopefully won't have to use it.
Thanks for the review.
I'm still sticking to my white mesh case. I like really light and almost-not-there type of cases.
Thanks for the review, mine should be here within a day or so.
I ordered using the coupon code XMAS15 that was posted here. Not certain it's still valid though as the poster said it may expire on the 19th.
To the OP, how does the phone feel in your hands compared to what you had previously?
Also, did your volume buttons ever rattle? This is my only hesitation as the silicone case from t-mobile prevents the rattles I have from the volume rocker (which is loose).

For reference, I've had TPU's, hybrid TPU/Plastic (the one with hard clear back), a generic version of the Barely-There, and a flexible plastic perforated case (XMatrix Cover from DayDeal).
The added size and weight is similar to the XMatrix perforated case. It's not as slim as the Barely-There style cases, but I think it's definitely lower profile than TPU or silicone.
The finish is nearly the same as the Barely-There knock off I have, but seems a little more durable (the coating on the old case started to come off within days). It's smooth, almost suede-like, but has a bit of tack when held in the hand. When put on a smooth surface, like a desk or on wood trim in a car, it does not stick at all. This is a bit of a negative for me. One thing I like about TPU cases is that they kind of stick when you lay them on a smoother surface (I usually put my phone on the wood trim next to the gear shift in my car) but are not tacky otherwise.
As for the volume buttons, mine are not loose so I can't really comment on that issue.
One other thing I've noticed in the last few days of using the case, is that bezel cover is attached to the bottom part in only a few spots so there is some give in the areas that aren't clipped together. I think they should have added a couple more contact points on each side. It's not terrible, but I'm a bit OCD so it probably bothers me more than it would most other people.
I'll report back, should be here anytime now.. thanks man.
Case is good, very slim and feels good in hand, not perfect like other Seidio products. Like the review states, the case is NOT slide-on which sucks. I dont know why they used clip-on design, with slide-on case could have been even slimmer and more durable. Fit is also nice, but also not perfect, phone is just a little loose in case, not noticeable right away until you play with it.

After waiting around for the SGP Slider, I was also hoping this would be a sliding case.
I did get to hold a Captivate with the Innocase II, which is a slider, and the fit was pretty awful. It moves around a ton compared to this front-back type. I guess I'll take this style and more precise fit over slider with a bad fit.
Is it the bump on the Vibrant that is the main issue with a slider?
I was a bit let down to find this was a snap on the front/back design.

it is nice and clean. my nexus one case fits better, but they probably had to make it clip-on design i guess for Vibrant bump
Nice review! I can't help but feel like Seidio threw this product together in a hurry, after they realized there are people with Vibrants. It just looks cheap compare to their other offerings.
Just got it. initial impressions:
1 feels great in the hand. Looks good too.
2 I absolutely hate how easy it un-snaps.
3 I want to know their return policy till they have a legit case like the ones I am accustomed too from seidio.
4 it's much more difficult to press power now.
EDIT: okay, found out how to do the return, just waiting to hear back from them.

Incipio Silicrylic Case - Review

So I didn't find a thread for this case yet so I decided I would and put my review up for everything. I myself am not terribly picky when it comes to reviewing; I'm satisfied with most things I purchase. I hope this will help any who are thinking about buying this case.
First off, I love the look of the case. The mixture of soft and hard and the double color combo is what really made me want to get the case. It really stands out over the the tpu and silicone cases because of this. I got the the black hard cover with the gray inside silicone. Both colors were a bit lighter than what I was expecting; the black isn't true black more matte and the gray was a couple of shades lighter, a medium gray. The feel of each piece is nice also, very easy to grip and doesn't slide in your hands.
Now to the protection. This is where my one downside is to the case. I don't know if they all come this way, but my silicone is a bit looser than I was expecting. You can pull on the sides and they come away from the xoom, allowing dust and particles to go inside. This I felt should have been tighter, almost like a tpu case to keep the dust out. But thanks to the outer shell you don't notice it any where else. It doesn't slide around on the xoom and stays in place as a case should. (The reason I switched from just a silicone case, because it got too loose and didn't hold the xoom firmly) I really feel that if I dropped the xoom that the case wouldn't fall off and be able to protect it from any damage or scratches. Also the sides do come up a bit higher off the xoom than my silicone one from Verizon. The raised edge around the xoom makes the case feel a bit different, but I'm getting used to it.
Also, the pop out kickstand is a great feature. It stays nice and flat in the back and clicks into place, which was something I was worried about and not wanting it just flopping around back there. It holds nice on most surfaces unless its something slippery like a glass tile or something. I am able to peck type and it doesn't move or feel like its about to fall. There is a raised edge for the hinge but I never notice it when holding it unless you have huge hands possibly.
All the cutouts are there, even for the sd card! The buttons for the volume buttons are way easier than my old case since they are more defined. I do not have a dock so I can't tell whether its possible to dock in the case or not. (sorry for anyone who wants to know)
Hope this may help someone out there that's on the fence about this case! I would give it a 4.5/5 just docked because of the loose edges. Other than that I feel like I may not look for another case for a long time. Thumbs up to Incipio!
Here are a couple of pics I snapped that someone requested..
Edit: It also comes with a screen protector, which I haven't put on yet.
This looks very interesting. How durable do you think the pop out stand is? Does it look like it could break easily?
I know you said that you do not have a dock to test with, so I posted a question to Incipio if it will fit in the docking station. If I hear back I will post thier response.
I would say its pretty durable the hinge has a bit of give to it and the kickstand itself is thick enough that it wouldn't snap in half

So I was chatting with one of the Incipio customer service people and I asked if the Xoom could still be docked with the case installed and they said no. Not being one to take no for an answer I asked how thick the case was in the back so I can compare with my silicon skin. The CSR had no clue but promissed to email me the information as soon as they could get it. That was a couple days ago so we will see.
So would you be so kind to measure how thick the case is in back? Just for reference the silicon case is about 2mm thick. If I were to make a complete guess I bet this case is about 3-4mm thick. If I can find out how thick it is, I can artificially make my silicon case thicker to match and see if it will still dock.
I really like the looks of this case and the built-in stand is a nice feature, I just would hate to have to take it out of the case every night when I put my Xoom in the dock to charge.

I got this too but I went for white and black, thought it looked cooler. It's not just you by the way, the sides are very loose. I think the best thing about this case is the kickstand. It stays put and I can actually Swype something on it. The angle is perfect for viewing content and it makes the device feel more snug and easier to grip. I think this is the best case thus far for the Xoom. It has a stand and it makes the device feel so much more safe.

Well glad it isn't just me..
Btw, do you have the dock for the xoom? I am tossing around the idea of getting one, but if it doesn't fit with the case..
Confirmed the case will work with a standard dock if you remove the adapter plate from the dock.
yup i just got the speaker dock and it works without the case adapter though it is a bit loose.. wish they would've made the case adapter without the front goove/ledge bc it would fit if that wasn't there..
I do not have my dock here, but is it the thickness of the case that causes the problem or the lip on the front of the adapter plate? If it is just the lip that could easily be sanded/cut away.
I think it may fit if it didn't have the lip but the thickness on the bottom may make it too thick to plug in all the way anyway
Sent from my Synergy Rom using XDA Premium App
does xoom with this case fit on speaker dock?
Posted before I saw the other responses. The dock comes with a cutout for an encased Xoom but does not fit the Kevikev leather case (that I like otherwise). Wish there was a case I could just leave on the Xoom docked or closed up to carry around...
Thx
Rob

I think I hate the Otterbox Commuter case....

Right now I am very unhappy with the case and I am most likely going to be returning it to best buy.
1) The rubber cut outs seem to be a little off.
2) Getting it inside of the plastic bracket is just not happening. It just seems to tight of a fit. Any advice here?
3) I'm just frustrated with it over all. Bad design? Morse than likely for me anyways. But I am sure for others it works great. The last commuter case I had has a flat lip to so that you can work the case on. It doesn't seem to be the same for the S3. Getting the buttons in with all of the flaps looks to be more work than its worth.
Oh well maybe the Defender ill be better.
mine fits perfectly... it's supposed to be a snug fit. Just put the case in one side at a time starting with the volume rocker and then push the power button side in.
Otterbox has changed the silicone portion of the case so it is more durable but also more stiff and rigid. I was able to get my case on without too much trouble but it wasn't as easy as other cases. The thickness of the silicone also makes button presses harder. This case won't be for everyone but I like it enough.
The Dark One
Check out the recent Trident Kraken thread. There is a video comparison with Otterbox Defender, that shows how the case installs/removes, I prefer the way the Kraken works, so I ordered it for $29.95, link in the other thread. (Make sure you watch the right video, the one of the iPhone Kraken, is an old trident design, not the current set up)

Only gripe with the Incipio case is that the rubber part is a lint magnet! Ill buy that Otterbox off you lol!
I didn't like it very much when I first got mine, but it's grown on me. It's hard to get in, but I think that's by design. The biggest issue I have with it is that the power button doesn't have very much feedback to know if I've actually pressed it. However, after a few days I've gotten used to it. I like the feel of the phone naked, but I like the protection of the case too much.
I tried just about every case locally available, and I must say this one beats them all hands down.
The only thing I don't like is the stiff rubber for the power button, but I'm sure it will soften with use.
Classy looking too.
I'm finding it a pain in the ass also. I thought my Epic Touch Trident Aegis was a pain to get on and off but this is ridiculous. Took me almost 15 minutes to get the thing on and 5 minutes to get off the first time. I understand it's probably because of the design, but still.
Also, I'm used to the clicky power button feeling of the Trident, which I don't get with the Otterbox. I might end up returning it and getting the Aegis when it pops up on Amazon in white. Or I may go with the lime green.
I looked at the commuter at best buy and thought it really ruined the appearance of the phone.Decided to go with the PT case with holster(Seido) and found it to be much nicer and offered a decent amount of protection

It stiff I agree but maybe you guys need to get some man hands.
So funny story of the day....
After i returned my case to best Buy I check my email to find that Otterbox sent me a case anyways with an email from a manager. Apologizing to me and told me the case is on them! Very nice of them IMO. This is why I love Otterbox. Best CS hands down!
So maybe I will give the case one more go. I just hope it doesn't kill the corners of my Zagg IS. I have had it on now for 2 days! My case should be here tomorrow or Thursday. Again when they asked if I would like another I told em no that I was returning it and that I would be getting the Defender if it ever came out. I never even asked to speak to a manager. Some things just wow me. To bad other companies are not like OB.

DracoDesign for HTC One Warning

Hi folks,
Just received my Draco Design bumper. I will say it looks very nice in person and the side buttons and top button feel nice
1 problem though --
The back bumper is not tall enough... due to the curve of the HTC One, it has 0 lay on the table design, and 0 drop protection!
The curve of the phone is taller than the bumper causing the phone to touch any surface it lays on. In short...this case serves no purpose.
Buyer Beware
Wow... If it was for me i'd have sent it back and get my money. definately doesn't worth 70 bucks without a purpose
I have the HTC One Silver and installed the Draco One black bumper.
For better protection and peace of mind, I put an invisible shield kind of protection for the back and sides of the HTC One. Then I installed the Draco One Case.
I also use a pouch for final protection.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41292226#post41292226
The idea of AL being used as a bumper instead of plastic/rubber also blows my mind. I would hope that you could return that case as it is extremely pricey for something that isn't doing it's job.
Actually I already knew that the Draco bumper won't protect much at the back because I had tested the dummy HTC One and noticed the back was curved, especially around the camera lens.
I agree the design could have been improved because the guys at Draco must have tested the bumper with a dummy model.
Anyway I will make do with the Draco Bumper until another better aluminum bumper releases.
The aluminum bumper gives a different look to the HTC One.
Yeah I'm definitely gonna be returning it. I noticed their website states only unopened items, but we shall see!
Hopefully they will adjust the back bumper to sit just a few mm higher and alleviate these issues.
I will contact the dealer in Hong Kong and see what they have to say. These bumpers are made in China anyway. May be they can get a quicker response.

You need to make sure the volume buttons are set properly in the bumper. Initially I was having difficulty pressing the buttons but after setting the volume buttons properly, it became easier to press.
Sucks I was looking to get one. I'm waiting for dbrand to perfect their skins for the One, then I'm gonna get an aluminum bumper similar to this and have an Iron Man design on the back.
i have a feeling that this will be the case for most bumpers, because of the curve. however, wouldnt say that it offers 0 protection. ive been going commando with my One since i got it, today i dropped it on its corner and put a small dent in it. now, i could have avoided that if i had a bumper like this.
Judging by your second photo, at least it has a considerable 'lip' on the front side of the device which is great if you're like me and leave you One screen down on the desk.

Yup, laying it down on its face is perfectly fine. I really do like the look of the thing in person, I'm just hoping they machine a Version 2 that extends the back side out a bit. Could also keep the case the same, but machine slight ridges on all 4 corners of the backside that extend just slightly more.
I'd use it if I didn't see the issues regarding the One's camera hole cracking/scratching and case denting as much as it does.
How long did it take to delivery the case to your location?

Hi folks,
Just received my Draco Design bumper.
Buyer Beware

would you of rather make the case an inch thick and protect the phone? what did you think it was going to be with the curve of the one. i have some tape and packing over here it you want to secure your phone. If they made it cover the whole phone i imagine we would be reading a review of how tall it was

All they needed to add was literally a 2mm bump on each of the 4 corners. Wouldn't even be noticeable. Other bumper companies have done this sort of thing for quite a while now, I can't believe it was such a huge oversight by Draco.
On the case delivery, took about 4 days from order to receiving in AZ
I ordered one already and will apply a skin on the back to add more protection to it. It would be enough I think

Did the case dent your phone?

Nope, no dents -- only kept the case on for about an hour to test out signal strength/gps loss, etc. Would be a fantastic case if not for this little bit of "duhhh."
If you're going to use this case make sure to get a protector for the back like some have suggested. Also know that because of the low profile camera bumper lining on the HTC One, if dropped on it's back, you may get a broken lens in addition to the dent in the aluminum.

I have the HTC One Silver and installed the Draco One black bumper.
For better protection and peace of mind, I put an invisible shield kind of protection for the back and sides of the HTC One. Then I installed the Draco One Case.
I also use a pouch for final protection.
