[Q] Screen protector in the box? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I absolutely just got my Z1c (didn't even turn it on yet), and the first thing that called my attention is that there is a screen protector on the box... so, a few questions:
1) Does this mean that there is no screen protector already installed on the screen?
2) Is it worth installing it or not? I've read that on the regular Z1, the protector is only for shatter protection, but is actually not scratch resistant... if this is also the case for the Z1c, I guess that I will do without the protector... any other reason to install it?
PS: this baby just arrived after pre-ordering it at Sony Mobile Italia...
Thanks,
Leo.

Put it on, should it ever be scratched it is way easier to replace than the original anti-shatter-film mounted on the display panel. And don't forget to protect the back as well, it's only plastic...

i almost forgot about that. was too excited to finally be getting a proper phone to be looking at what was in the box.
if you look up where the notification light is, and hold it against the light in a certain way you should be able to see it. they did a neat job of it. i still dont understand why it is there really. if my screen shatters im not going to be able to use the phone any more. maybe they are worried about glass going all my pocket if i break it. umm thanks sony. how thoughtful of you

invisible shield

hi all
i've preordered a desire, it's my third htc device but the first device with capacitive display.
does anybody have experience with a capacitive display and invisible shield?
is this going to bite each other? maybe it's a stupid question, but i want to protect my brand new phone..
thank for replies!
I had Invisible Shield on my Hero, and it's useless. You won't get scratches on your screen, unless you try to make scratches.
I've tried this product on two phones - one capacitive multitouch - the other a bb bold. A waste of time and money for both. You'll be peeling it all off in a number of weeks as the edges get frayed and any speck of dust you trapped when 'installing' will drive you nuts!
Just stick with the phone - you'll be fine.
Yes is a waste of money and time. I have it on my HD and the stylus constantly get stuck cos is the shield is too soft... Don’t bother.
The desire will have a teflon layer on the screen. It makes sure you dont get fingerprints on your screen. If you put a screenprotector on it you will have fingerprints on your screen again. So I think it's even worse to put a screen protector on your screen.
Wow everyone is against the protective layer. I have had it on my Hero since minute one, for 5 months now, and until now you can't tell it's there. I also use the phone and play with it constantly.
I'm sure we all hate to see the screen get scratched right? so it's better safe than sorry, in my opinion. You just need to be extra careful when installing it to eliminate any apparent dust getting trapped.
I would also recommend buying and extra one for the long run.
thanks for all replies.
hmm.. i love my invisible shield on the diamond. it's no as slippery as the plastic back cover and if i write with the stylus it helps to. also i can put the desire on my car's dashboard and it's not slipping away (for navigation).
i think i'll buy a shield. if it's not good, i have removed it within a blink of an eye and my desire costs very little, so i can absorb this 30 $
So four 'no's and a maybe has translated into a yes??
So you either work for a certain protective screen supplier (as you specifically mentioned a brand) and are after cheap advertising.
Or you had made up your mind irrespective of people's time and opinion - which is just plain rude.
Agree with the others. It's a waste of money.
I had a shield on my Diamond, and I think it was needed on that one, but on my Hero it is absolutely not needed.
I've had my Hero for almost 8 months, and not a scratch. I've dropped it on the ground several times, but the screen remains as shiney as the day I got it.

me? oh.. come on! i just want to know how other people think about this.
and a scratch-proof display is just a fairy-tale!! i think you work for a display company with this (really) scratch-proof display..
no way, buddy, really
edit: anyway, not every screen protector is equal to another and my first question was, if a protector stops the electrical field of the touchpanel... that's it..
I have a a Zagg one (same product) on my Zune HD. No isses here at all. Also put it on a Omnia HD this was a bit more problematic as it was my first time and the edges did fray but my Zune HD looks good as new .
Guys just watch this video to the end and I'm sure ALL of you will use the invisible shield.

At least with it on the screen you can confidently clean it when it gets to that.

yes, my thoughts exactly
He is sitting at a dinner table that has clearly just had dinner eaten from it and there is lot' of evidence that the food was sticky finger type stuff in fairness to the poor fella!
I will use a screen protector but defo not paying $30. When I got my G1 I used a razor blade to cut the little pull tab thing off the transit screen protector and left it in place until 2 weeks ago. 17 months! I still have the other one that came in the box! anyone want to buy it?

[Q] Xperia Arc screen help.!

Hello, found a few scratches on my Xperia Arc screen and got very disappointed, I thought it had scratch resistant screen, later I took a close look to the screen and found out that it had one more screen layer, could anyone tell me if it can be removed or not, because when I asked SE support team, the operator told me that it can be removed, I just wont a suggestion, help guys.
I would not touch that layer it is part of the capacitive sensor on the screen if I'm not mistaken
yeah, I'm afraid of that too, but support team convinced me in opposite
Yes, you can remove it without problems. I did it in December without problems so far.

how did you remove it? any suggestions to peel it off? It's a bit hard to do that ( with nails )
With my nails
It takes a while to pick up a corner, but once you got a corner picked up it's easy.

Part of capacitive sensor ?? Lol
Anyways..it's just a screen protector..if got scratched,replace it with a new one..
And in this case,i would suggest you to seek some professional help as you might end up making new scratches in order to remove the protector. It's a tough job and needs a lot of love and care d(^_^)
Thank you all, I did it, it really was a screen protector, if found layer like this on your arc , you should peel it off, as a result you get Better colors, touchscreen enhancement and sharper image.
I dont think that we should remove the screen guard. SE provides two screen guards with the handset. One comes already pasted on ur handset and other comes in the box. we need not remove it as it keeps the main screen safe from scratches..
I really agree with your, but that screen protector makes touchpad less sensitive and colors are less vivid, so I prefer being extra careful with my phone then looking at Less Attractive screen
Last time I checked the screen protector I have on doesn't change the quality, clearness or the color of the display. Just saying.
Protect your screen with one. Most of them now a good and leave your screen feeling normal.
i know its an old question but anyway i have one question.how hard is it to peel of the screen protector? im trying it right now and im afraid of braking something, should i force it off or what?
It is glued there so you may have to use some force to peel it off.

[Q] Arc S Screen Protector

Hi
just need to know whether Arc S has a built in screen guard from the company or not !
cuz from the beginning m not using any protection as i see an edge around the corners that reflects the dual surface, which i believe is the original protector !
plz help as i want to put a guard now as i see sme minor scratches which are alarming !
awaiting reply
Yep the phone comes with 'mineral-resistant screen'. However it is best to put another screen protector on it just to be on the safe side I have a mirrored one
thnx ! but if that mineral protector is somehow peeled off ! is it bad ? cuz i did that deliberately !

Really? At least on my phone I even did not try because it looks like almost as its fixed there and cant be peeled.
Mine as well didn't last long.. In just couple of days air bubbles started to breed between the screen and the protector! I had to take it off and apply a new one (you can buy in mobile shops)
A good tip is to make sure there's absolutely no dust on the screen before you start applying the protector
Stock protector is applied so precisely and is so sticky that it's almost impossible to "accidentally" remove it. So I don't know how did you manage to do that, really.
Also, can someone explain to me how is it possible for bubbles to start appearing under screen protector all by themselves, for no reason??? Some new laws of physics maybe, or...?

Problems with the Glass Panel?

How many of you are worried about having problems with the glass on the back panel? What I am worried about is having it scratch in a pocket or case, and also cracking if dropped or hit against something(I put my phones in my cupholder and it moves quite a bit).
I was thinking that I will probably have to get a skin or a "screen protector" for the glass panel. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The design is horrible....so if I do get it I will likely get a case that covers everything but the fingerprint sensor and the camera area. That way u don't have to worry about any scratches

haha, yea I "will" get it for sure, i've decied to go Nexxus, been HTC FanBoy for a loooong time, gonna give Google a try this round, so I still have HTC but stock Android OS ftwz, no more having to s-off etc...and ill use sprint unlimited data ftw, however yea the pixel XL = Fugly....i will be getting a case for it (havent had a phone case since evo 3d ffs) but the phone will need one, hopefully where it lacks in looks it gains in software/perf/bat life etc.. ill be hitting order October 4th asap, sure hope chainfire auto root pops out for it hehehe
I think the phone looks really nice. Much better than the Nexus 6P. I dont mind having the back glass as I have had a Galaxy S6 as a full glass phone before and I actually really liked it. I dont fear the back getting scratched because it doesnt reall matter at all

Well i haven't had any issues with my s6, note 5 or note 7 with the glass back but i get the backs ghost armored immediately once i bought them.
Doubt it will help it not crack if dropped but it def wont scratch.

[Survey] How many of you have experienced the screen peeling problem?

Hi everyone,
I am seriously considering buying the Moto Z2 Force as a replacement of my old Moto X 2014 (I still love it but my screen got a bit shattered one year ago:crying.
The only thing that is holding me back is that screen peeling problem I heard of. So, after reading some threads I would like to see how spread the problem is by proposing you this survey.
In case you had the issue, it would be very useful for me to know how you solved (got a replacement, removed the shutterproof screen protector, ...?)
Thanks a lot!
Here I am, replying to my own survey!
Unfortunately, not as I would like to...
I bought it and on day 2 I noticed this issue https://youtu.be/KfEjQWtvckQ which is how everything starts I suppose...?? So, I think this will be a "In the first month case".
Now I have to think of what to do:
Keep it and wait for it... (what then?!)
Send it back to seller asking for a refund => Buy another model, other brand (It would be really sad though)
Send it back to seller asking for a change with another one (what if the new one will have the same issue?)
Removing somehow the screen protector and the glue (any tutorials? Will it void the warranty?)
Any suggestion is much appreciated
Thanks a lot
I knot sure what that video was suppose to show. But to me it showed nothing of importance.. I have had my z2 Force for about 2 months with no issues.. Use a screen protector or a case with one, and you should have zero issues.

The video is supposed to show a problem with the shattershield screen where the outer screen protector lense is detached from the inner layer.
Some people on Lenovo forums reported screen peeling issue after experiencing something like the video shows.
On the same forum, some other people claim they had a screen protector on when the peeling started.
Anyway, I contacted Motorola Support and they:
Confirmed that if you remove the outer layer, the warranty is permanently voided for the whole phone... Not good
Suggested me to refer to the seller for a substitution since I am in the first two weeks after buying the phone
Still deciding what to do...
I tried the tempered glass screen protector I ordered.
It doesn't adhere correctly on the top of the screen but especially on the bottom, near the fingerprint scanner.
So, the screen is not perfectly flat.

I purchased a Otter Box Defender, and that might be why I have no issues.. On my G5 Plus I had a Otter Box commuter and a screen protector and they worked well as well.. If your nervous about that pone, best bet might be to replace with a different model.. I sure as hell would. Good luck.

Have the same issue and can hear that. But it seems to be normal. I can push in the screen a little bit. I think it's not the original foil of the top, which is pelling. I think it's hearable because it's plastic and elastic. I can see (by screen on) that's not the foil while I'm pressing the screen in. It's more the complete screen. Would it be the foil, I wouldn't see what I see by pushing in the screen. Plastic is easly elastic. That's all.
Here is an update.
Yesterday I received the other plastic screen protector I ordered.
It fits perfectly, since it's not as rigid as glass.
Since many of you have the same "clicking" noise while pressing the screen, I think I will try to use it in the next days to see how it goes. I have some weeks to think about keeping it or sending it back to the seller.
Hope everything will be ok, I'll keep you updated

It's not the foil, right? That's the plastic which is"clicking". I'm short-sighted and I'm pretty sure that I can see that's just elastic at the bottom. Looks so that the foil is ok and 100% save on the screen. But it's nice to have a elastic screen  No scratches after month. So, don't need a screen protector. The quality seems good. It's like wings of a airplane. Elastic, too And there is all ok, too. Normally

I am not sure it's the foil or not... However, I don't think is the screen which is moving, that's probably more a refraction effect. We should ask to those that removed the protection layer, if they where experiencing this and after the removal it stopped.
Foil or not, if the "clicking" sound is so common even in devices without peeling issues, I will give it a try.
I just need to use it, only time will say if it was a good idea to keep it :fingers-crossed:

Screen is moving down at the bottom, for me it's 100% so. And if I do it carefully, I can see it without hearing it. But yes, would be nice if anyone can test it without the foil. But, I can trust what I see, all real. So, it's the plastic. Hope anyone else can confirm this.
Another problem, what I have seen. I have burn in at the bottom. The navigation buttons keeps/burn in. Now I have set up the moto fingerprint navigation and it should gone next time. And that's really good. Works very well. And the space of the screen is now bigger, nice effect.
But, good to know with the burn in. This smartphones are made for a short time, maybe 2 years. On my computer monitor I have never seen burn ins like that. So, it's a market/business. Screen not made for working over years
And what really is very very good is the battery. Have last time good 8.5-9h sot. So, that's better than many people think.
But back to the screen. That's the topic here. Maybe we have to bring it to the repair center after 1.5 years. Maybe because burn ins, peeling and so on. We will see
If you guys do the warranty replacement through Motorola and not your carrier they will send you a new moto z2 force with a 2nd gen screen if you ask em about it. They have a fix for it lol I just got mine back and it's totally different

Ok, maybe I have a newer one. Here no scratches after months. Foil ok. Just the clicker at pushing. You don't hear that on your device? Which versions are 2. generation, after which produce date?

What am I supposed to be hearing on my device lol? And idk I just personally call it a 2nd gen screen cause it's easier to explain it like that to the people that I live around in my area ??there not to bright lol. I do know it's not the original shatter screen stuff that was peeling. it honestly was pretty hard for me to understand what my moto agent was saying to me when he explained it so I only caught bits and pieces. My model number is still xt1789-04 TMobile variant. I don't have a clicker also
