G910 Gamepad - Moto G Accessories

I saw a video on youtube and it seems a very good way to play emulators.
Its costs $32.90 on amazon and I'm thinking of getting one but I wonder if the Moto G screen is big enough for playing games.
Anyone tried it yet ?

[Q] Does the pad have uses other than games?

I was just wondering whether the pad has uses other than games? (navigating around the droid conventionally perhaps?)
Is there an app or perhaps already something added by SE into the PLAY that allows me to re-purpose the pad and it's buttons as say a shutter key or whatever else I might think of when not in game?
Does something have to be Xperia PLAY optimized for it to recognize the pad?
I'm asking these questions because I'm trying to decide between this and the Neo. I'm into emulation and gaming BUT that's not the only thing I do on a phone so I don't want to put up with all that extra bulk and a worse cam and no radio if the PLAY's only benefit over the Neo is all the PLAY optimized stuff. I'd then rather put up with struggling around on the touchscreen for the games like 95% of the other droid users out there, I'm sure the experience can't be that much worse.

Yeah the pad can be used for navigation of the UI. The X button is select and the O button is back. And trust me until you try it, you can't understand how bad gaming is on a touch screen compared to the play
Thanks but that's not quite enough.
Seems like my decision has been made for me anyways since locally the PLAY came in at a much higher price point than the Neo preventing it from being available on my contract (and putting it right in the firing line of the flagships if I were willing to pay extra) which mean it's just plain a no-go.
Eventually you can browse in websites with it, and some apps will recognize it as a joystick or a trackpad. Still, the Neo is better value for money if gaming is not your top priority.
Gaming is high on my list but the camera comes first. I'm not happy with the everyday 5MP phone cam and want something better and Neo's cam is definitely that even it's outclassed by other 8MP cams. I do tend to like passing the time playing games on my phone though, but o well, the PLAY has been priced out of my range anyways as I said.
PLAY is great for gamers
Not sure how neo looks but if your not into gaming neo and arc are wayyyy better =/
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?
I use the gamepad to navigate whilst browsing and to position the cursor much easier when typing.
If you want to emulate games, you have no chance of playing them on a touchscreen. Its not just bad, it's impossible.

That seals the deal. You're better off with a Neo.

[Q] Buying xperia play mainly as a gaming device.

Hello, recently I have been thinking about getting an android device for gaming, (mostly emulation.) and I noticed that an xperia play can be bought for a pretty good price on ebay now. (I found it Buy it Now at 79.99 free shipping) I was wondering if this is a good device to get for emulation? I was pretty surprised to see that it was selling for 80 dollars considering there are JXD and Yinlips android gaming devices with worse restive screens, bad controls and poor build quality that can cost more then the play.
Depends what you wanna emulate u only have gba emulator and n64 emulator aand a ps1 emulator and all work amazing no PSP emulator that works perfect or NDS but alot work well
Yeah I mainly want it for emulation along the lines of gba,gb,snes and some general android apps. I was probably going to get some kind of other device like a jxd, yinlips or the archos gamepad or something along those lines, but the play seems to have a good screen with better controls and build quality for 80 dollars it seems like a good deal.
Also how is the battery life on it?
Standard battery sucks but you can get a cheap extended battery for about 15$ cost me ten gbp which dramatically helps an makes it easier to hold while gaming imo

MOGA pocket - Same compatibility that other MOGA gamepads?

Hello. I want to buy the MOGA pocket because it's small and it's the only one "cheap". I know the hero power is basically a improved moga pocket but it is way too expensive. But the thing is, the MOGA pocket does not have a d-pad! does this mean less compatibility with games? Or does it have the same compatibility as the rest?
I want to play games like GTA San Andreas!
Thanks :good:

Games for LG G3

Hy, I open this threat because I wandering what you guys prefer to play on this magic phone.
At this moment I trying to find a way to play Dead Space....You?
Simcity Buildit
I had first bought a OnePlus One. Then I tried Google Cardboard and immediately switched to a G3.
Google Cardboard games are perfect with the G3.
If you haven't seen it yet, Cardboard is a cheap-ass VR headset (made out of... you guessed it! Cardboard!!). You'll need to get one of the bigger ones due to the big screen of the G3 (the one I have works, but it cuts off parts of the display on some of the SBS (side by side) 3d videos on YouTube and in some of the Playstore's VR apps.
The OnePlus has 1080 display, which I thought would have been plenty, but Cardboard basically uses magnifying glasses for lenses, so with 1080, it doesn't look as great as you'd think. However the G3's display is so awesome that it is perfect for it.
Google cardboard is something that I never seen before. Ty for this post. Looks very interesting...

Anyone use the Z5 Premium as a VR entertainment device?

So I read through the other thread that talked about VR, but it's dead. So I'm posting a new one to see who's currently doing this, if anyone at all.
Are any of you using the Z5 Premium to watch movies through VR? I've never ventured into VR territory but the Z5P keeps luring me in. I don't care about gaming, and I don't care about 3D. What I'm really looking for is a way to block out the rest of the world and watch a movie. It can even just be pitch black around the movie (I guess that's called Void cinema in the world of Oculus?).
There's got to be one of you out there.
I used it twice with a plastic, adjustable and good quality cardboard a coworker bought and it was very cool, as the screen is ver big, it filled the space of the cardboard. I tested some games but for movies I guess it would be cool to. In fact, Im planning to buy one soon. I recommend it

I've post my experience with watching 3D movies using VRTube on another post + pics perhaps you've seen it. Also, Sony's image enhancements works with VRTube which is great, too bad Sony sound effects do not, i suggest using viper4android for sound enhancements. Also VRTube is pitch black around the screen so it'll be perfect for you. I use sony's bluetooth headphones for a complete wireless experience. I can tell you that the picture is superb, no screen door effect from pixels. I use the colorcross headset since that works best for movies imo. I haven't found a headset with a clearer lens than colorcross although i stop buying headsets a year ago since I've wasted so much money on them, (trial and error).
I've been watching 3D movies on mobile for about 2 years now using this setup, the previous phone i had was the LG G3 (2k screen) which wasn't bad but still has the screen door effect. After upgrading to xz5p my vr experience got better so yes i'd say it was worth it.
I forgot to mention i use a bluetooth remote with a mouse cursor mode, you can get one for cheap on Amazon unless you want to keep taking out your phone to make adjustments.

Have you used the Bobovr Z4? I've read that a lot of people like that unit. The VRTube app you're speaking of is the one by IdeaMatters (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ideamats.vrtubefull)? The one that looks like it still has Gingerbread interface?
You can get through an entire move no problem without it overheating or anything like that? What do you look for resolution-wise when you're sourcing your movies to watch? Sorry for so many questions, I'm completely clueless when it comes to VR.

Yea that's the one. The phone gets warm no overheating, I lose about 20%/h watching movies, All the movies i have are all BlueRay quality in its highest resolution, The movie file can take up 10-20gb each..

That doesn't say much. So I'm guessing you're sourcing BluRay 4K rips at 3840x2160, ya? So I'm just trying to educate myself, but that would mean when you watch it in your VR headset you're effectively getting 1920x1080 to each eye and watching the film in FHD?
No the full video resolution is usually 1920x1080p so each eye would be getting 960 x 1080

But I'm guessing that's still plenty clear and enjoyable due to the lack of SDE?
Yup.
So I just got my Z5P yesterday, but first time playing with it tonight. Do I need to force 4k through ADB or anything like that to get the best VR experience?
No. Android automatically plays back video (anything using SurfaceView which is just a buffered view) at full resolution.

If that's the case, than what's going on here (2k vs 4k resolution)? Am I able to make the VR screen larger but in essence the video played within it is the same resolution for both?
Then it'll better be 4k Blu-ray video with 20 more gigabytes
And the device will get slower during the time (it says cannot play video) you need to restart
