I have mine on 100% (a.k.a. Always On) at the moment, with Gmail, hello (for text messages) and Talon (for Twitter) set as Active on Standby. That's all I use heavily now anyway, as I don't have a Facebook account and I neglected my Google plus for some time now (plus it generates a huge amount of data transfer in the background).

Never used it on my Z and don't use it on this either, so long as I can get a good days use out of the Phone I'm happy.

Why is batterylife worse on Froyo?

I'm getting 4-5x idle consumption on latest JPA. Hope this is still not final..
I see that next version of Android is already trying to discredit previous one. Don't be afraid, gingerbread, we will update to you anyway =))
On a more serious role - I see approximately the same battery.
Re-calibrate your battery.
A bit worse on my end on IDLE, but same on usage, close to 8hrs of battery life watching a 720p movie.

Whats a good method of recalibrating it aside from deleting the battery stats..
Speaking of battery stats, a lot of people misunderstand this as the file that keeps the current charge of the battery.
my standby time of the battery is great. No drop in battery after a full nite of sleep.
however, surfing net on data really eats a lot, 1% every 2 or 3 times.. really fast

Maybe you just can't understand well the charts.
for example: Music Player 25%, it doesn't mean music player consumed 25% battery; This means that when music player was worked, then battery consumed was 25% - what did consume it? - The music player + display + some refresh + etc...
Yeah, I know a little bit strange logic for "Windows taskmanager" browser kids; but this technic is general in mobil IT (maybe Google should hide this feat, bcoz lot of users are confused; and ask again and again and again and again and again...)

I dont even think he is basing it on the battery chart usage, I dont think anyone does.. we are just looking at the battery indicator. If we idle for 8hrs we epxect no more than 2% battery drop.
I get 20% battery drop in froyo for 8 hours during the night without even switching the phone screen on once!
Maybe because of all of the services I have?
I have the following real time services:
1. google stuff
2. exchange (touchdown)
3. Tango
4. whatsapp
5. Chrome to phone
6. SMS Backup+ (backs up SMSs as soon as they arrive)
In addition to that, I have two email addresses configured in the stock email app with 1 hours pull time, and in "accounts and sync" I have facebook and twitter put as sync once a day.
I have a bluetooth headset connected all the time and receiving calls though it, I make and receive almost 1 hour of call, probably 5 SMSs, WiFi is on all the time, and the display is set to auto.
It is also worth mentioning that I have the JPA, OCLF and the 341MB ram kernel (250Hz) with the enhanced GT TWLauncher, no live wall paper, no auto syncing widgets.
My battery lasts almost 8 hours until it is flat, in which I have another charger at work, that a good 2 hours charge keeps me going until sleep time, where it is flat again, and then I put it to charge all night long.
If anyone is having my same configuration and settings, please share your experience.
Oh, I have disabled the haptic feedback completely and the clicking sounds universally also.

Charge the battery FULLY, & start discharging it, when it comes down to 5% or something, go delete the battery.bin (search the forums) or some such file. You need root. The restart, Viola, your battery is indicating the exact charge.

May I ask where did you get this information?
AFAIK, phone usage timer "in battery stat" is not increasing while the phone screen is off, indicating that phone is not operational.

I dunno what tango exactly does but i can only confirm this: tango kills the battery in no time. even the newest version claimed to be "fixed for sgs", it still eats 5% an hour in standby just by adding tango.
besides, tango doesnt work very good anyway.

I've read about that by deleting the batterystats bin file, Im still looking for a solid explanation on whats exactly in that file, from my own understanding its just a battery usage history.

here you go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-722862.html
how are you using your phone ?
I see a lot of these threads talking about battery.
But bottom line is - How do you use your phone.
You have to compare apples withe apples.
Only 1 person in this thread described how he / she is using the phone.
Thats something you can compare with
I usually have mine running for 8-10 hours and have to charge. (almost empty then)
But im a heavy user.
Blutooth headset - Wifi - Sometimes GPS.
Aways on fastest netvork.
Exchange and Google mail, facebook and twitter.
Everything consumes battery.
BUT having said this -
I was on a vacation in France, and stopped every service, as im from another country and did not want to pay expensive roming prizes.
The phone now lasted 2-3 days on 1 charge, and this was all new for me
You get the drift
Forget about this battery charge discharge / charge delete stats thingy.
It will absolutely not give you longer battery run time.
Maybe the battery indicator will be slightly different, thats all.
Not worth the effort.
Hope this helps you
MKrogh
I think I found this over on the Desire forums but these steps have helped me immensely. I did these steps just last night, and I unplugged my phone at 12am and now at 9am it's at 90%, with 3G turned on with syncing once an hour.
With your phone on, charge it to 100%. Once it reports it is full, disconnect the phone and turn it off. Plug it in again, charge it until it says it is full (1 minute or so). Then disconnect again, turn it back on, and plug it in again. Charge it until it's full. Disconnect.
I find that after I do that, the battery life improves IMMENSELY for at least a couple days, or until my next flash (still testing).

Hi, I also have a question regarding recalibration. I have the OCLF v2 installed and find / -name battery<somethingwhatever>.bin shows me 3 files batterystats.bin (I'm pretty shure this is because of the oneclick lagfix). Do I have to delete all 3 files or is it only necessary to delete the "real" one?

[Q] how to improve batterylife without any apps?

Hello,
as everyone im really happy with my GN2.. everyone says that the battery just drops 1% percent everyhoure..?? thats not the case with me.. it drops 10%-15%.. is there any settings you have done?? its still on stock rom didnt rooted YET
I didnt install/download any virus or fool apps from playstore (Ive read many threads but they were all the one who downloaded just random apps from playstore and that caused for battery drain..)
waiting for your answers..
ps: everyone is welcome with his settings.

Wow. 1% every hour? I won't be bothered to change my phone if that happens :silly:
A normal Galaxy Note 2 has a 1% drain every 10-20 minutes of screen-on time.
The screen-off time of the Galaxy Note 2 is indefinite. Depends on what you have on

No, I don't actually. I do not know what the screen-on time from persons' who have sync on.
I usually get 7++ or 8 hours screen-on time, from my usage.
That's with wifi, games, phone calls, messaging.

With this kind of device, you won't need Juice Defender
I leave everything on: data, wifi, autosync, nfc, autobrightness, everything.
I still get a full day with 5-6 screen time.
Just charge every night. No point disabling data and sync and everything. Makes it pointless to have a smartphone

Wow. Wifi and data on? You must have super internet, man! Coolness!
I've left the office just about an hour ago... Charge was 100% and I have opened video (auto-play next=ON) playlist. Trip to home has took about 40 mins and every single second device has played videos, non stop.. No app, nothing special. When I arrived, the charge was 99%
It's probably has its very own battery optimizing systems inside which is clearly avoiding energy leaks.
I guess, I don't need anything for now to improve charge durability... Just fyi about my little test~
Hello again,
Actually our phones need nothing for better pattery durability. But if you wonder your battery specifications, i would like to recommend "Battery HD Pro" from google play market. It supports Turkish language and more.
Good luck.
The gnote2 loses ~10% an hour on WiFi and ~15% on mobile data. You can get more than 10h reading books with white text on black background. And videos on internal/external storage can get you more than 10h display depending on the video. I generally get about 10h display in WiFi and 6-7h on a workday where I use mobile data and I haven't flashed a custom kernel yet. Too much extraneous junk with the current kernels. Just looking for one that allows custom voltages on various things, mainly CPU and GPU.

I don't use any power saving apps. I have everything turned on and syncing 3 email accounts. I lose 1% overnight and rarely lose a percentage when the screen is off. What did I do? Just turned off google now and the 3 tick marks under GPS setting. Good luck!

Just to share my battery drain, i play games almost 4 hours a day, rest of the time texting, maybe at most 2 hours of screen-off a day, my phone is 40% when it says 8 hours on, dunno what all you have, i have wifi, data sync, auto brightness, and well gaming, the game though are bike race and minecraft, but when with sometihng heavier like modern combat you can expect 6 hous and its 20% just sharing im stock rooted..
I agree with @akdenizx
Wanam's tips is so succesfully for battery life. I use my phone with this advice. I am happy. My phone is charged every 1.5 day by me
I want to one tip for wanam's tips.

Try using white text on true black background. Saves a lot of power on Amoled displays. The inverted colour option on the stock browser gave about 13 hours of screen time compared to the normal 7 hours

You can definitely still get push notifications. The app allows you to adjust settings per application in terms of syncing. It also allows you to auto turn off wifi or data communication after periods of inactivity. The app progressively learns your usage and can auto adjust for optimal battery life.

Yes of course, it doesn't block anything if you don't want to. It prioritize things and saves battery without sacrificing too much (or maybe nothing)

I think Greenify would be a much better solution than BatteryGuru.
Try it yourself, and see.
You need to be rooted though,
personally speaking, Battery Guru did nothing for my battery life. Had over 1000 wakelocks in a 20 hour period
This app is awful, last time I tried it there was a bug that kept the phone from deep sleeping (not sure if this has been fixed) but generally it causes wake-locks that wakes the device up more than it would if you were just leaving android to do its own thing.
I would avoid using it.
If you really want an app to control battery usage (which is not really necessary) then learn to use JuiceDefender or Tasker.
Yeah, a load of crap - uninstalled it.
Never manged to find a battery manager the worked and i have bought a few, i turn everything off and on myself it`s easier.

STAMINA Mode not working properly

But after .244 update.. Stamina mode does not work as before, Apps get stopped when screen is offed, but Mobile data connection is still there.
I have no apps in white-list..
Im bit worried, cause i have enabled mobile data 24x7 in LTE mode, so disabling it when screen is off, will help me on battery..
But i done know whether its the way how Stamina mode works..
If someone can explain me.

stamina mode is somethings to enable phone enter into deep sleep mode. But after u turn off the screen and lock, if there got any apps consuming the data in background, so phone cant enter deep sleep.
most probably is Auto-Sync, social messaging apps (Viber, Line, Whatsapp, WeChat, Tango and etc). these will enable the phone always keep awake and using the data.. Stamina mode will only works after screen off for a certain time, will enter into deep sleep. If any apps wake it up, then wont work anymore.
So if u want stamina mode works better, turned off Auto-Sync, Mobile data (if u have a lot of social messaging apps).
Hmm..

I have never had much luck with stamina mode, or disabling background processes or whatever and, believe me, I have spent what feels like a total time of 5 weeks of my life on this, as for all of us, trying to get our super smartphones with awesome screens to last more than the waking hours of one day....
Here is a screen shot of my XZL from this morning. (82% battery remaining, 27 hrs of use on battery, screen on time 9% = approx 1.5 hrs in screen diag window I have Auto Sync enabled, and collect emails on regular basis.)
I am using DS Battery saver (pro version but there is a free one to try) and thro custom settings can allow checking for emails at whatever interval I like so, for example, i set DS to wake up (in background, of course) every 20 mins for 2 mins to allow whitelisted email app to check for mails or whatever intervals and apps I want....
SMS and MMS are always instant as are incoming calls (obviously again)
Have this on all my work phones, XZL, GS4, GS3, HTC one etc, and all are now easily able to do two days with what I would call normal usage (3-4 hours screen on per day) emails and calls and the rest all the time
@chuan Hong - why leave GPS on all the time, are you looking at maps all the time? Device locks so fast on GPS why not just turn it on when you need to know where you are or where the phone is? Certain apps will switch it on when signalled to do so remotely...

Thanx al try the app
Srsly man, stop using battery saver apps, that is Not at all required. In fact that app might be interfering with ur stamina mode...
Also, as another person above said that stamina mode requires deep sleep, this aint true(actually, that would defeat the whole purpose of stamina mode). As soon as u turn the screen off, the stamina mode kicks in.
Also, how do u know that stamina mode isnt working? Do u recieve whatsapp notifications after u turn the screen off??
U might wanna check ur stamina mode settings.

Sorry, but I am not stupid enough to run both at the same time! What the battery saver app offers over and above stamina mode is deep sleep so you have missed the point there. For me that is why it saves battery for my usage...
My remarks are intended to offer another possible direction for those who have not succeeded in achieving what they are looking for using stamina mode. On a more conciliatory note, sorry if I ranted, you are correct when it comes to the Wi-Fi only tabs and battery usage is worse with an app than with stamina mode. Maybe related to continual switching/seeking of phones looking at 3g, h+, lte in the background which ds obviously removes....

Well friend u r an advanced sort of user... Unlike many others who just download things and complain that their phone isnt working properly... I previously thought that, and u might not believe but there r ppl who use stamina mode and battery saver apps simultaneously.
That's why I said so. I never meant to counter comment u in a negative way. Im sorry if u feel so. I just wanted to convey that battery saver apps r not good for our droids.

Certain apps will switch it on when signalled to do so remotely...

oh i turned on gps for all the time because of security.. i've been lost my phone before so cant track it back. now i purchase https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myboyfriendisageek.gotya&hl=en apps and installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nezdroid.lockscreenprotector
smart lockscreen to prevent people shut off our phone in lockscreen there. Useful. If im lost my phone, i can track the location and take the front photo. I can remote control my phone. So i have to turned on my data, GPS all the time.. dont want lost my expensive phone like that.
recommend u to install these 2 apps too. i know myxperia can track our phone too.. but GotYa! got much better features. MOST IMPORTANT, cant let people turned off our phone 1st. Once off, then can flash rom or anything. GONE.so smart lockscreen protector is important and installed gotya! to catch/track our phone

stamina mode is somethings to enable phone enter into deep sleep mode.

I think you are wrong. Stamina mode should always work the way that it disables mobile data when the screen is off, regardless of how many apps you have running in ackground. that is the whole point of stamina mode. Mine is also not working. I turned it on this morning at 5 am, and at 6 am the battery dropped 3% and i got a notification that i should turn on stamina mode to save battery. The screen was off for that one hour and the phone wasn't in use

Battery life tips/tweaks to stop battery drain

When I first got the Note 5 last week, I noticed the battery life wasn't so great. After making some tweaks I've noticed that 1) Android system isn't the number one thing eating up my battery 2) Cell standby isn't consuming more battery than my screen anymore and 3) Screen is the number one thing consuming battery and I'm getting fantastic screen on time. The first attached pic shows stats from my phone being off the charger for almost 8 hours and I was connected to my wireless earbuds via bluetooth and streaming pandora for almost 4 hours while traveling to and from the gym and during my workout (all over the network, no wifi but when I'm home or in the office, I'm always on wifi) plus I had about 1 1/2 hours of SOT. The Second pic is day 2 with 1 day and 2 hours of use with 37% still left and 3 hours of SOT. Also, I have Google Now running, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter constantly running and I maybe lose 1% battery life every hour or longer when I'm not using the phone.. I'd like to thank @rlsroufe for his debloat list because that was a big starting point.. Here's what I did:
-Disable AT&T/Samsung Bloat (Package Disabler Pro)
-Disable S Finder (Package Disabler Pro)
-Turn off motion Gestures
-Turn off S voice
-Turn off or decrease vibrations
-Turn off Google Location History (Huge battery drain, causes play service and/or Android system to go nuts)
-Turn off Android Device manager (Lock Screen and Security —> Device Admin)(Also causes play service drain)
-Disable Unnecessary Sync Service
-If you use Adguard, turn it off when you don't actually need it and just flip the switch when you do
-Turn off S pen Alerts, pen detection, and S pen sound and vibration (will still work exactly the same)
-Turn off Enhance4GLTE (basically voice over LTE, makes cell standby consume a lot of battery)
-Turn off 'Always allow scanning' under advanced wifi settings (Allows apps to serach for Wifi even when wifi is off)
Reboot and enjoy..

I think it was sarcasm.
I had posted this in another thread, but using package disabler to disable "s-finder" seemed to have made a large difference in battery for me. I (personally) usually keep location services and android device manager active, however.
One thing common with many android phones is that for the first couple of days after you first get the phone (or factory reset it), location services tends to draw more power when compared to after you've had it a while. I have nothing to confirm this (and I've been too lazy to try and verify it), but I suspect that location services keeps a cache of cell phone tower locations... so the drain would be higher while its still building up that cache.
Yeah I feel like disabling S finder helped as well.. I consider that samsung bloat as well but I'll add that to the list, thanks. I keep location service on as well but I turn off location history which is what I think was causing stuff to go nuts and def noticed a difference right away. Device manager I don't really use because I noticed if you factory reset your phone via the phone recovery, you still have to sign into your google account before you can do anything with it so that's nice.
Yeah that sounds like a logical theory and could very well be what was draining battery. But literally 2 hours after turning off Enhance4gLTE, cell standby dropped and noticed battery life was a lot better. There's been a few threads on that as well as VoLTE (tmo equivalent) that suggest that's the issue for drain as well.

Can you share your disabled list in Package Disabler Pro please?
Got this via @rlsroufe and @mcdavid
FYI - There's an Extreme (left column) and Basic (right column), I just went with the Basic one. Green Means I left it alone, Orange means I disabled it and Yellow means you can but don't have to. This is for the Tmo variant so some things wont be on this list so I just went one by one and did it just by typing in the last word of the application. Anything that I actually used I left alone but you can mix and match if you want and see what works best for you.

Okay.. So Samsung made this SUPER ambiguous.. But the "Disable Pen Detection" setting.. Are you saying that that toggle needs to be ON or OFF? What does the setting do anyways? I can't understand Samsung's wording in the settings..
Lol yeah, there was a big discussion in anther thread about that. Putting it in the 'Off' position turns it off which is what you want.. I believe it just turns off the feature when you walk away from your s pen and it warns you.. I could be wrong tho but since doing it, nothing has changed with the S pen and it all works the same exact way when I pull the s pen out

Haha, I think there's a setting for what you described (other than pen detection) but have you noticed the battery life is better when that setting is turned off? Or is it not noticeable?
I'm not 100% sure because I did everything pretty much at once. It does say it might help save battery so that was enough for me. Everything has been working great so far tho, finished charging my phone around 12 today, left it for 2 1/2 hours and didn't lose a percent even tho FB, Email, App update and Text messages were coming in so I think it's a combination of everything

Wow that's really good! I might have to try it out and see if it makes a discernable difference. Thanks!
No problem. You'll def notice a diff in standby time..

Actually leaving it in on position turns off pen detection which saves battery. I am rooted, checked with SQL editor.

So what is the verdict? Off or on?
LOL says in my settings for this "turning off pen detection when the pen is attached can extend battery life".
So i turned mine OFF
My secret is leaving it charging all day, all night, all day etc. That's the only way.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using XDA Free mobile app
Based on rlsroufe's SQL dump, the option should be ON which disables pen detection.
When you pull the pen out and the phone no longer 'sees' it, it uses the motion detector to see if you are walking away. If you go like 12 steps you get an alert.
Turning this option ON, disables this detection when the pen is attached to the phone.
Hey @oka1 can you please close this thread or disable the comments. I will no longer be supporting it because I no longer have this phone. Thank you
