Security - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

why dont they make a apk or zip with the security feature when someone trys to unlock the ur phone with wrong passcode it takes a picture, if the technology is available why not use it. Some people want to be sure that no one touches there phone, just the way i feel thanks, and im going to keep posting my thoughts maybe someone will notice.

Cerberus App, Lookout, and other security apps have the feature you are looking for.

That is exactly what Cerberus does. At least for me, but I got the donated version.

Uh? Dude you understand that we have an *UNLOCKED* bootloader? If you lost your phone it is pretty much toast. Now you wish we had a locked bootloader with KNOX..

@theOP, you started an identical thread in the QA section, please don't double post.
U said you're using win7? Are you opening your command prompt "as administrator"?
I got the same question as Daugusta12
I want to root, NAND unlock, and get the Aloysius color theme ROM but I don't want to brick my phone in the process so if anybody knows how to flash it over in simple steps in a video or something let me know.

[Q] Overriding pushed security policy on rooted phone?

My work pushes down a lock screen requirement on my phone. How can I remove this? or change the password strength requirements?

You can't! Does your company run Google Apps? If so the admin for your domain can log in and remove the requirement for you otherwise you can't take it off.
Cant? of course I can I just need to know how.. The phone is rooted I dont imagine there is anything that "cant" be done
You have to override the "phone administrators" function to make that happen, I do not know of any ROM's that have that functionality though.

Ha ha that doesn't matter at all. This is a policy sent down by your company. If you figure out a way I will be amazed.

im on 4.0.3. Its lotus notes traveler but the apps works on android 2.0 and greater
There used to be an app to do this on Froyo, but I haven't seen anything like it since. I also would love to see this. I'm on 4.0.3 using exchange mail for company mail, security policy enforced with PIN of course - would much rather use slide to unlock or face unlock.
FYI as a workaround you can use Touchdown which enforces the PIN unlock when opening the app rather than unlocking the phone.

You could always just use the PIN and protect your work's potentially valuable IP. They're not just putting a PIN on your phone for fun...

[Update V1.2 available] HiddenEye - Awesome app to catch your phone snoopers.

New Version 1.2 now available... Please upgrade...
* Improved photo capture method.
* Larger images
* Bug fixes
* Performance improvements
* Reduced file size (now only 570KB)
Ever wanted to know who has tried snooping into your phone while you were away. Your friends or family member might have tried to unlock your phone while you are away. HiddenEye is a simple app with no frills that will photograph the person when they try to unlock your phone. You can set it to sound alarm when a user tries to unlock your phone without your knowledge.
Now you can see who is trying to use your phone while you are away. Once you unlock your phone, you will be shown the photographs of the people who tried unlocking your phone in your absence. Sounds interesting ! Try it and let us know if you have any suggestion to improve it further.
Worried that your phone does not have front camera. With HiddenEye, now you can know the someone has tried to snoop into your phone. You can also set alarm if someone is trying to unlock your phone with wrong password. If you have a front camera, then you can see who tried unlocking your phone.

Fair enough.
Ifirst went to "manage apps" and it was NOWHERE to be found.
I finally deleted it with Titanium Backup.
When I went back to the Market, it gave me that screen shot and neither option worked at that point.
I guess it's uninstalled though.
Thx.

I'm just interested in enabling it when I leave the phone lying around the house/on the bar/on my desk in work/etc to see if anyone's accessing it. I don't want to pin/pattern lock it as my kids play games on there, and it will draw suspicion if my phone is suddenly pin/pattern locked.

Anyone willing to guie me through root and install custom ROM?

I always have a hard time figuring these things out. I don't ever know if I did it correctly and I have to spend hours looking up videos on the exact process to follow. Anyone willing to guide me through VOIP (like skype, mumble, or teamspeak) to root my Note and install a new ROM?
I have the SM-P600 with Kernel 3.4.39-2040736 [email protected] #1
I'd be willing to gift you some League of Legends skins (NA Server) for your time
Ok I figured it out. Only took about 3 hours.

Sure, whoever needs help. I'm going to guess you don't need help because according to your signature you already have the Note 2014 so you probably already rooted it. If you need help reply to this and send me your contact info.

No, I haven't rooted my Note. I'm waiting for the compelling reason. In the past, the motivation was easy. The Note has been snappy and I kinda like this version of TouchWiz so replacing the ROM is not a motivation.

You don't have to install a new ROM, you can keep the stock one if you like it.
The compelling reason is the same for any root: To give your device added functionality. Remove bloatware, add cool features like app data backup and ad blockers, and add any app to the Samsung Multi Window feature (and have more than 2 apps open if you want). And rooting takes about 30 seconds to do.
What's not compelling about that?

Bloatware hasnt slowed me down so I don't need to remove it. I've never used and ad blocker and don't find mult-window useful. I do miss Titanium Backup but Helium works, sorta. I'm still waiting for compelling. I don't really want to trigger Knox if I don't have to.

[Q] Disable screenshot notification in notification center

Hi, XDA ,
On a D855, is there anyway to remove that screenshot notification that shows every time you grab a screenshot, which is shown in the notification centre? It's annoying, to have to Clear the notifications every time - OCD much...
// Troels
First its not a "notifications centre" - it is a notifications bar, where notifications are listed - "notifications centre" is an ios thing....
Secondly I am not aware of any way to stop them from showing, the reason they do is a) so you know it has taken one and b) so you can do something with it straight away - most people take a screenshot because they want to immediately share it somewhere.
With these things there is always a way, if you are rooted and take the time to find the relevant bit of code to modify it - but I have never seen one ready made and I do not have the patience, time or need to make one for you.
